As the old saying goes, "Show pictures or it didn't happen." You sure made yourself believable, @Defender I've got a plate and some screws in my right ankle from an old tib-fracture, but that's penny-ante compared to your hardware. I pray that God gets you back on your feet in record time.4 points

I'm 64 and was healthy as a horse up to 62. The last two years have been quite the challenge. Thankful to be here. I wish you all the best and a successful recovery.4 points

Prayers for an uneventful and speedy recovery! I'm 70 and just had the cast removed from my ankle surgery a couple of days ago. Got me some spanking new titanium anchor and tendons/ligaments reattached. Rocking a classy robo-boot that looks like something out of a transformer movie My home looks like a well armed and fortified nursing home LOL. The most frustrating part is not being able to go to the range. My buds keep sending me video clips of them shooting steel setups at ORSA. You would think they'd have the decency to keep that to themselves. Aging has it challenges no doubt. Best wishes to all in this boat. It's been a fun ride!3 points

I sent my 738 TCP back to Taurus for a minor problem and they say it's unrepairable. So that there's no hard feelings, they're giving me a credit on their webstore for about $100 more than I paid for it years ago. My question for the group: How do you guys like the TX22?2 points

One of the perks of having a regular dentist. My wife and I have gotten in same day with urgent problems at our dentist. Hope they get it fixed. I'll add that letting it go and just trying to live with it is a really bad idea... nearly killed a friend's mom. She had a bad tooth but wouldn't get it looked at. She collapsed and the ER doc discovered she had a defective heart valve. Cardiologist said the tooth infection messed up the valve. She was in the hospital for several weeks as they had to get the infection under control before they did surgery to replace the valve. She made it, but it was rough.2 points

That doc probably doesn't have some large entity of bureaucrats hovering over him with their checklist. None of whom have ever been a doctor and MIGHT have a college degree.2 points

Ditto Oil of Clove can be bought at most drug stores hanging on a rack as a kit with applicators (Q-Tips) it works very well when you are caught like this. I have used it. ...and I think it is time for a new dentist. Once when I found myself in a similar situation and my dentist wanted to prep the playing field with anti-biotics before the pull, I drove to small town nearby with a country dentist. I told him my problem and he asked what I wanted him to do. I told him I wanted him to put his knee in my chest and pull the sucker out. He did.2 points

Just a side note. If you're ever given a prescription for pain killers, have them filled even if you don't think you need them. Hoarded painkillers saved me on a 4th of July weekend tooth abcess.2 points

Buddy, prayers for your recovery! Recently turned 72. It sucks. Last few months really sucked! Pneumonia, RSV, Sepsis. Skyline. Life Care Rehab. Home Health and people who know what's better for you than you or your doctors do. Be careful and do the rehab work. Keep us informed. At least we can laugh at each other!2 points

I turned 67 on groundhogs day. I’ve dislocated both shoulders, broke left arm twice, skin graft on left hand from a fight with a FedEx conveyor belt, bone spur on left knee, gall bladder tried to kill me and was removed, 1 ruptured disk and 1 slipped disk and heart attack requiring 2 stints. Other than these minor issues I’m in pretty good shape. BS. If I were a horse they would have shot me years ago. Hope you’re on the mend! “ Getting old ain’t for sissies. “2 points

OW!!!!!!!!! Those of us who have survived over 6 decades know how you feel. I hate going under the knife and hate when they add stuff not in the original design. I hope you have a speedy and complete recovery but cold weather is really going to suck now. OW!!!!!!!!2 points

A farmer named Clyde had a tractor accident. In court, the trucking company's fancy hot shot lawyer, was questioning Clyde. "Didn't you say, at the scene of the accident, 'I'm fine,'?" asked the lawyer. Clyde responded, "Well, I'll tell you what happened. I had just loaded my favorite cow, Bessie, into the..." "I didn't ask for any details", the lawyer interrupted. "Just answer the question, ...please. Did you, or did you not say, at the scene of the accident, 'I'm fine!'?" Clyde said, "Well, I had just got Bessie into the trailer behind the tractor and I was driving down the road...." The lawyer interrupted again and said, "Your Honor, I am trying to establish the fact that, at the scene of the accident, this man told the Highway Patrolman on the scene that he was just fine. Now several weeks after the accident he is trying to sue my client. I believe he is a fraud. Please tell him to simply answer the question." By this time, the Judge was fairly interested in Clyde's answer and said to the lawyer, "I'd like to hear what he has to say about his favorite cow, Bessie". Clyde thanked the Judge and proceeded. "Well, as I was saying, I had just loaded Bessie, my favorite cow, into the trailer and was driving her down the highway when this huge semi-truck and trailer ran the stop sign and smacked my John Deer Tractor right in the side. I was thrown into one ditch and Bessie was thrown into the other. I was hurting, real bad and didn't want to move. However, I could hear old Bessie moaning and groaning. I knew she was in terrible shape just by her groans. Shortly after the accident a Highway Patrolman came on the scene. He could hear Bessie moaning and groaning, so he went over to her. After he looked at her, and saw her fatal condition, he took out his gun and shot her between the eyes. Then the Patrolman came across the road, gun still in hand, looked at me, and said, "How are you feeling?" "Now tell me, what the heck would you say?"2 points

Need a muzzle device pinned and welded, and some cerakote work. I also have some antique firearms that need some TLC. Any recommendations close to Chattanooga?1 point

It’s bad form to question someone’s asking price in the thread. Those comments are best left to an IM.1 point

GT Distributors in Rossville/Chattanooga has Glock 22s similarly priced.Looks like LE agencies are trading in their Gen 3 and 4s for Gen 5s.1 point

Sorry you’re having to deal with this. As I read through this thread, I’m reminded that this is one way the world has changed for the better. Any member over 40 can ask the generations older than them and likely learn about a family member or two who died of dental infections. It was a top 10 cause of death for hundreds of years. If you query someone under 40, it’s unlikely that they know anyone who died of one. 50 years ago, by 40 you had likely had several teeth pulled - and many adults were absolutely plagued by dental issues. A kid born today with fluoridated water, a good diet, and decent dental hygiene may well die at an old age with all of their natural teeth. All that to say - sorry for all the trouble it’s caused you - but thank the good Lord for Amoxicillin.1 point

I went thru this about 2 years ago. My dentist had a sub working that week, but he got me in that first day, just to do nothing for me. Told me to take aspirin. 2 days later it was killing me, had to sleep in a chair cuz laying down made it a lot worse. Finally found an 'emergency' weekend dental clinic in Johnson City, but they dont pull teeth-lol. At least they gave me some antibiotics and pain meds. The dentist at the clinic offered to have me come in to her own private practice where she pulled the tooth and stopped the pain-lol. And she is still my dentist now. But why is it these days that a dentist will send you to a different guy to pull a tooth? Is that like Dentristry 101?1 point

You can go to the ER if you need. They won't have a dentist, but they can pump you up with novocain type products. I had to do this once on a Sunday night just to make it until Monday. I can't recall what they shot me up with, it was some kind of '___cain" that blocked the nerves. Personally, if i REALLY need a painkiller and don't have one, I will eat 800mg of ibuprofen and 1000mg of acetaminophen. Please take that suggestion with a grain of salt as you're likely not my size, weight, health.1 point

Thank you my friend! Everything I've read and the P&S Podcasts I've listened to have me really wanting to, at the very least, handle one. So I am envious! I would be tempted (very) to pick up a 632 & a 432. It looks like Smith, Jason Cloessner (Lipsey's) and some for-real gun people collaborated to knock this one out of the park. I already have some Lost River .32 H&R mag for carry (LCR) and I handload .32 S&W/ H&R Mag, so... I'm obviously rationalizing to justify the purchase LOL Sorry to drift1 point

I stick with Holosun. Seems like the best compromise of durability, usability, and cost. I’ve broken several Vortex red dots. I’m not selling the ones I’ve got, but I wouldn’t buy another. I’ve got a Trijicon RMR with the 6MOA dot. I think it’s a little too big, I prefer 2-3 MOA, but I’m a little younger and I like to shoot a little longer range. 6 MOA makes it hard to shoot my carry pistol at 100 yards.1 point

I have 3 Ruger Americans and I’ve never had a feeding issue. I’ve heard the rumors, but I’ve got to wonder if more internet hysteria than actual real world. My dad has a Gen 2 American that he likes. If feeding is a concern get one with the ACIS mags or a gen 2. I don’t care for the bolt throw on Savage rifles, so for my money, the American can’t be beat. My 6.5 shoots 3/8 inch groups.1 point

that's scary stuff. God bless. I'm right with y'all having multiple surgeries, not fun at all. The only upside is my family gets lots of laughs while I'm medicated. yeah, the plates and screws know when the weather is turning bad.1 point

Finally spent some time in the shop with my pops back when it was cold. Built an Alamo style bowie just because it was cool. Used 1084 hot rolled bar stock, 2.t" wide by 1/4" thick. Blade is almost 3" wide and a foot long. Through tang construction with brass ring and butt cap, mild steel guard that was hot punched and scrolled, then fit hot and quenched for a friction fit. Im pretty proud of this one, and still building memories with Dad at 70.1 point

I got everything installed and fitted up. Now all that's really left to do is clean up the vent slots and dye the Grey USC upper to match the lowere. I didn't pay attention to the router bit I used and they are larger than what the orginal ones should've been. Oh well live and learn, I installed the new aluminum mag release and it works as should. I then mounted the stock and I just had to do a little fitting on it to get it to fit the stock block. So far I'm pleased with the results except for the vent screw up. The second picture shows the size difference in the mag release's.1 point

I got the UMP Lower fit to the USC Upper, I took a Round File and used the old USC Lower as a guide and marked it with some tape. Lightly filed the Hooks on the UMP Lower till I got it fit up to the USC upper, turned out pretty good, next will be enlarging the Mag portion of the USC Upper to be able to use the UMP Double Stack Mag and lay out the Vents and figure out how to cut them and all that is left is to put it all back together and check functions before coloring the Grey USC Upper to Black to match everything else. So far it's been a good project, can't wait to get it done. I'm going to leave the 16"USC Bbl. for now still deciding if I want to go the form 1 route. Stay tuned for the finished project. Thanks for looking.1 point
