  1. I turned 67 on groundhogs day. I’ve dislocated both shoulders, broke left arm twice, skin graft on left hand from a fight with a FedEx conveyor belt, bone spur on left knee, gall bladder tried to kill me and was removed, 1 ruptured disk and 1 slipped disk and heart attack requiring 2 stints. Other than these minor issues I’m in pretty good shape. BS. If I were a horse they would have shot me years ago. Hope you’re on the mend! “ Getting old ain’t for sissies. “

  3. Eh, I didn't see anyone get mad. We just obviously think you're wrong in this context. No offense meant of course, but you made a post to ask so... collectively, we answered. One extra cool thing about this place: If someone WAS trying to sell you used as NIB... you can report that. The community does its best to weed out dishonest folks.

  5. I thought the question sounded a little accusatory, yet all but one response was civil and informative. I guess I don't see enough "not shot or LNIB" classifieds to say "nearly everyone's weapons". If it actually is a significant percentage, I'd chalk it up to the fact that most don't sell the guns they like unless money's tight. I suspect most of us only sell the guns we bought, but realized we don't like as much as we expected or don't use much, which would explain the round count.

  7. Pretty close. Also, if you all remember how crazy inventory and prices started getting out of hand some years back. I started the practice for redundancy and spare parts if things had gotten as bad as some had predicted. I was always the contrary optimist about that situation, but I wasn’t crazy enough to not be prepared. It just became a bad habit. My wife loves to travel, so guns are the most affordable things I can purchase for myself.

  8. I traded about $30,000 worth of guns and $150,000 to boot for a 35 acre farm about 8 years ago. Guy wanted $180,000 for the property and I didn't have but $150,000. I didn't want to have to wait 4 to 6 weeks for a loan approval and pay a bunch of closing costs so I traded him my gun collection.

  9. 2003 Colt Python Elite 4" in Royal Blue. Unfortunately I do not have the original box/papers. Some very minor holster wear under the crane. It's wearing a set of Eagle grips - the originals, sadly, are long gone. Otherwise, it's in fine shape. Feel free to hit me up with any questions. Not looking for any trades with this one. Thanks, y'all. $3100

  16. I have a 1978 Model 36 3" in nickel. I can draw it quickly and shoot it accurately. It is my favorite carry gun. I carry a back up with it and two speed loaders. I bought it at Donaldson Hardware in Nashville. The advantage of this old wheel gun is the square butt grip. One of the critical parts of a fast draw is to get a good grip before you draw so you will be able to shoot accurately quickly. The square butt is easy to grip correctly. I stand in front of the living room mirror and practice drawing and dry firing, (with an empty gun). I didn't want the Chief's Special to win but it beat every handgun I own.

  17. I traded another TGO'er some photoshop work for an EOtech lens cover once. Not exactly a direct trade. He posted that he was having problems with the labels for his honey jars, so i just fixed it for him. Later on he posted his GG&G cover and when i responded he just gave it to me. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me. P.S. I hope that honey farm is doing well!

  18. I wasn't trying to be accusatory but I could see how it sounds like that I guess I could've worded it better just for me when I buy a gun or own it I wanna shoot it quite a bit to really enjoy it and to see how the gun feel's I'm not like one of these youtube guys that complains over the smallest indiscrepancies either I just have a love for guns not matter what unless it genuinely a piece of junk.

  19. David confirmed last night that he sold Magnum. Gordon sent me some powder coated .458 bullets awhile back. Don't know if he did them personally. Haven't heard from Caster in years.

  23. I’ll second this on all points. I got rid of my 10.5 in favor of an 11.5. The 10.5 was over gassed, but not obnoxious, though I hear DD Mk18s are. 11.5 gets you a better performing, softer shooting, more reliable gun.

  25. that's scary stuff. God bless. I'm right with y'all having multiple surgeries, not fun at all. The only upside is my family gets lots of laughs while I'm medicated. yeah, the plates and screws know when the weather is turning bad.

  30. Troy is a solid brand. Not as big name or flashy, but I've never been disappointed by their products for the price point. Vortex helped me with something similar once. I think these smaller companies understand how to endeer brand loyalty pretty well.

  31. A farmer named Clyde had a tractor accident. In court, the trucking company's fancy hot shot lawyer, was questioning Clyde. "Didn't you say, at the scene of the accident, 'I'm fine,'?" asked the lawyer. Clyde responded, "Well, I'll tell you what happened. I had just loaded my favorite cow, Bessie, into the..." "I didn't ask for any details", the lawyer interrupted. "Just answer the question, ...please. Did you, or did you not say, at the scene of the accident, 'I'm fine!'?" Clyde said, "Well, I had just got Bessie into the trailer behind the tractor and I was driving down the road...." The lawyer interrupted again and said, "Your Honor, I am trying to establish the fact that, at the scene of the accident, this man told the Highway Patrolman on the scene that he was just fine. Now several weeks after the accident he is trying to sue my client. I believe he is a fraud. Please tell him to simply answer the question." By this time, the Judge was fairly interested in Clyde's answer and said to the lawyer, "I'd like to hear what he has to say about his favorite cow, Bessie". Clyde thanked the Judge and proceeded. "Well, as I was saying, I had just loaded Bessie, my favorite cow, into the trailer and was driving her down the highway when this huge semi-truck and trailer ran the stop sign and smacked my John Deer Tractor right in the side. I was thrown into one ditch and Bessie was thrown into the other. I was hurting, real bad and didn't want to move. However, I could hear old Bessie moaning and groaning. I knew she was in terrible shape just by her groans. Shortly after the accident a Highway Patrolman came on the scene. He could hear Bessie moaning and groaning, so he went over to her. After he looked at her, and saw her fatal condition, he took out his gun and shot her between the eyes. Then the Patrolman came across the road, gun still in hand, looked at me, and said, "How are you feeling?" "Now tell me, what the heck would you say?"

  33. I remember reading the various threads you guys had running then, and learned a lot from the group. A couple of us that shot together were learning to cast and powder coat (even 7.62x39 bullets) and Dolo and Caster were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Probably still have notes from back then. Yeah, sorry to drift off on the 5.56/.223. Interesting reading though. Glad to hear Mr. David is on this side of the green. I wish him and his well.

  34. There are no lot numbers. The 842 came from Lake City. It was military pull down ammo. When the shelf life ran out, they would send it to Lake City, where they would pull the bullets, collect the powder, and then sell it off. David bought tons of that stuff. All the brass was primed. I have a lot of that too.

  40. Good to hear. I have always had great customer support from Dillon Precision over the past 25 years. My last interaction with them was over a three year old digital powder scale that lost part of its display readout. They sent me a new unit no questions asked within a week.

  46. Picked up one of these last show today was the day to take it for a test run. Shot a variety of ammo found it likes CCI and Blazer the best. Hated. Winchester and Remington. nothing but problems failures to feed stovepipes my Ruger mark 4 eats it no problem but not my Sig it has more refined taste. After I changed ammo she ran well the things I didn’t like was the trigger reset feels plastic Factory trigger was Ok definitely could be improved on. and it’s finicky about how you put in ammo you have to stack them not just drop them in they will turn straight up and there a pain to get out The sig came with Two triggers one curved one flat I shot the flat one Shot two targets 50 rounds thru each at 20 yards I won’t discuss the target that had Remington shot at it lol
