These days we often see the bad in customer support for any given company. I thought Id share a quick GOOD experience I had. I made a trade for an older AR15 build and it has a TROY Industries free float handguard. It uses a spring loaded pin and I lost the spring. I made contact with TROY and here is some of the email replies: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So they are sending me a new part at no cost for a 2nd hand handguard thats years old.5 points

Meh, Dad had a wooden paddle. Didn’t necessarily make me stop, I learned not to get caught. And thinking about it, my high school assistant principal had an aluminum paddle with air holes. Kids who got paddled had to "take a walk". He'd make them walk the halls with him following, paddle in hand. All the classroom doors stayed open then so everyone knew who was gonna get paddled. After strolling around to his satisfaction, he'd say "assume the position", which was hands on your knees and head a couple inches from the lockers, so every whack banged your forehead into the locker. You had to count licks. If you started blubbering, he'd keep going until you got to the number. So 3 licks could easily become 5. The more you blubbered, the faster he'd go. Good times. I got sent to his office once, but didn't get paddled.3 points

I see him on Facebook some. I think he retired. He mentioned missing the business. I'll look back in his posts. OK... he has been posting quite a bit. Nothing about Magnum. I think he sold it to family.3 points

I don’t consider myself a collector at all, but I am surprised at what I’ve accumulated over-time. The reasons are varied and many, but I have several un-fired guns. Like @Links2k, I bought some in pairs. Or multiple guns at the same time with specific intentions, but life and priorities seem to have their own idea about my plans. maybe have at 20 right now I have yet to fire. A couple I bought more than 10 years ago. I never intended them to sit, but I never intended to get old and start losing my hair either.3 points

Then buy somewhere else. That is your right. Complaining about it is not. It's other people's property until YOU buy it.2 points

If you look up Magnum Materials on facebook, you'll find David, but he hasn't posted on there since last June. It lists a phone number. Call it and see what happens, I guess? If he answers, tell him we were asking about him here on TGO. I wonder if these folks bought him out or something. Perhaps someone there could answer your question? https://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/b/magnum-materials2 points

I, unfortunately, must live vicariously through the pics you guys post for now. I had surgery on my ankle last week (Tendons and ligaments reattached, bone removed, and some brand spanking new titanium!). I still hope to get some tomatoes and bell peppers in the ground eventually. Thankfully there's a Farmer's market just down the road (Dixie Lee). So I'm counting on you guys to post pics! Getting old sucks!2 points

While I don't buy and sell a lot on here I have always, seriously ALWAYS, had good experiences here at TGO. Generally the guns I purchase are in better shape than described in their listings. Folks tend to be modest in their descriptors and earnest in not wanting to mislead other members of our community. I don't "Collect" and I shoot my guns. I had to replace the slide and barrel on my G19 a few months back...50K plus rounds over the years and it will probably outlast me at this point. I have a good bud, with deep pockets, and he owns several new guns he's never shot...purchased strictly for collectible purposes. Others he shoots a few cylinders or mags through and puts back in his safes. So I have no difficulty believing some of the guns listed here are LNIB or even new. Heck, I bought a couple of LCR's last year that you couldn't even see the turn lines on. Again, modest in description and I was more than pleased. I too, do shake my head at the sometimes outlandish assortments of attachments and "upgrades" that could only possibly appeal to the person that stuck the assorted "accoutrements" together. Hint: put the gun back towards it's original state and sell the other "stuff" separately...or not... But I like my guns as near to factory original as possible. That gives me the option of screwing them up if I choose...2 points

Your post kinda reads like you were going to post a pic of the label. Maybe I'm misreading it. There used to be a great guy on here (back in the "Dolomite" days), Mr.David (DLM or DLM37015) iirc that ran the gunshow circuit with his daughter (Sam?). He was a wealth of information on surplus powders...so was Dolo. I haven't seen any postings from or about them in years (and wish them the best) but you may find something doing a deep dive search on here, or the interwebs in general. Having the numerical data, lot number etc, could prove helpful if you have that available. Good luck in your search.2 points

My mother grew a mimosa tree. Always. No matter where we lived. Said she like their looks. I think it was specifically for the incredible durability and flexibility of the switches she would make me go and break off. She had a remarkable grip for a small woman and no matter how hard and fast I ran in a circle as she gripped my wrist, she never lost her rhythm. I cut down every mimosa tree I run across still to this day I loved her...but she had that Southern woman "don't mess with me" thing going on...2 points

This is a brand new complete upper receiver with some upgraded parts that's never been used. I'm trying to raise some funds for some other purchases. Note: the muzzle break has not been sealed yet, so you can easily change to something else. Asking $1,000. Please reach out with any questions. Here's the technical breakdown of everything and some photos:1 point

His buying in pairs is OCD. I have it as well. I bought 2 new Ruger Mini 14;s, 2 new Ruger Mini 30;s, 2 new CZ Redhead Premier O/U shotguns, 2 new Stoeger Coach Guns, 2 new Rock River AR's, 2 new PSA AR;s and 2 new PSA AK-47;s. Who would have ever guessed I would have something in common with Links.1 point

Enablers!! If someone makes it over there, please report on the condition. The one pictured looks unissued. If that’s representative of the batch, that’s crazy good.1 point

This is a direct shot at the heart of the 2A and all gun manufacturers. If they win here it clears the way to declare all semiauto guns as machine guns because they are readily convertible. That would instantly render them all illegal. I’m confident it won’t work, but that’s the aim here.1 point

I traded about $30,000 worth of guns and $150,000 to boot for a 35 acre farm about 8 years ago. Guy wanted $180,000 for the property and I didn't have but $150,000. I didn't want to have to wait 4 to 6 weeks for a loan approval and pay a bunch of closing costs so I traded him my gun collection.1 point

As a old former LEO, (in another state), my first thought was that the dispatcher/police officer blew you off because they didn't feel that it arose to a crime without bothering with an investigation. That's wrong, and probably violates their department's rules. Go higher up in the food chain. Brandishing a weapon: I think that he was brandishing without brandishing. In other words, he is playing with the line. If he fiddled with the gun - not something like holding the rifle strap in place on his shoulder while talking to you - then it could be considered as brandishing. Assault, not so much. NO ONE has a right to tell you that you cannot use public space in a lawful manner when it doesn't interfere with another's rights. That includes sidewalks as they are grouped. Me? I'd do what I normally do, and have my phone ready to record if he confronts you again.1 point

I searched the supply thread. David's first post was 2/9/2010, his last post was 4/8/2013. That gives me a time frame to search the reloading thread. I saw a couple that my dad made too.1 point

I've bought many guns on this forum that were unshot, or barely shot. Most of those came in their original box as well. Fact is, a lot of people buy guns on a whim and/or wind up never using a gun that they bought like they thought they would. Safes get crowded and what isn't being used has to get moved. There are a variety of reasons people move like new guns, but I've been buying guns on this forum for over a decade and have yet to have a bad interaction with an established member here and all purchases have been accurately described in the ad.1 point

I believe this powder came from David (DLM or DLM37015). It's not mine. I went alone with dad when he got the WC842. David told him the compared powder to use data from. Added that info to the jug and in his records. David did a lot for the reloaders. Drove long distances to pick up and to sell. Dad met him twice in Southaven while he was traveling to Jackson, MS. He did shows in Memphis and Southaven. Dad said once, he's in Kansas City this weekend. Sam and her husband worked a show in Southaven. Dad asked about David, home ill. Sam helped with sells, don't think she wanted into the travel and buying. I remember dad talked about Dolomite a few times. Said if he ever got to the east side of the state he'd like to meet him.1 point

For template-style cuts like a handgun RDS, a major CNC house with a program and setup is a far better option than a local gunsmith. They mount them in their fixture, press the button, and a few automatic operations later, you have the optic cut of your choice, perfect every time. Meanwhile, a master with a mill and precision measurements will take 25x more labor, and will not be as perfect as the CNC cut unless they also have a manual jig and fixture set up - which they don't, because it's a service best done in CNC. I recommend https://gallowayprecision.com/tier-one-carry-service1 point

Yes. Deburred and tuned extractor, polished ejector, deburred and polished chamber, polished feed ramp (ramped barrel), and I don't know if they polished the trigger bow or the channel in the frame, or both (they did something, but notes just said trigger polish), but it is buttery smooth.1 point

It’s not difficult to believe. Lots of guys on here have some serious collections. I don’t think it far fetched that most would be in like new condition. Despite differences that some of us my have, outside of my family and military buddies, these are some of the most honest people I’ve ever met. I normally purchase new, moderately priced guns in pairs. I’ve sold and purchased several that are exactly as described. Some guns get a magazine or two through them, and some don’t. I have some expensive guns in the safe that I just wanted, and they’ve never had a magazine inside them. The most important thing I’ve learned about buying or selling on here is to be honest. A good reputation makes it easy to do both. In most cases, if the sale were local, I’d almost always throw in something (ammo or accessories) for free. Good luck with your future sales or purchases!1 point

Everything I own has been fired. I have two new-to-me that I have yet to get to the range, but they've been shot. Some guys are collectors of history or art when it comes to guns, no desire to shoot them. I believe it. Just like the reference to collector cars, some are bought for investment. If you bought a rare gold coin would you carry it in your pocket? As far as believing what is posted, I trust but verify. None of my dealings with TGO members gives me reason to distrust. If you don't trust the seller or believe the worth of the item, just move on. @Tom B damn, shoot that thang! I'd love to get hold of a 97B! Had an EAA witness .45 years back, loved it and think the CZ might be better. My one exception might be a vintage royal blue python, those are just SO pretty. But I don't have vintage Python money so the glass front velvet lined case will just be for someone else.1 point

Just Good, Cheap entertainment. Prices for guns are all over the place. Some seem too expensive, some seem too cheap and some seem exactly as they should. In my 40 plus years of horse trading experience I’ve figured no matter what you know, sometimes you slip up and pay too much for a firearm or fall into a really good deal. A old friend of mine told me that you could never pay too much for a firearm, you could just buy it too soon. Many times I’ve paid too much only to find it’s worth twice what I had paid for it in just a few years. Best investment you can make. Better than money in a bank.1 point
