  3. If this has already been covered I apologize. Saw this little gem pop up at the LGS and thought it would make a dandy pocket carry piece. Its a 442 with VZ grips, big dot sights, and no lock, coming in at 16 oz unloaded. They have a 642 and 442 as well as a 6 shot .32 H&R version. For a revolver guy or a BUG setup these seem to fit the bill. Ill report back with a range report as soon as I get over there to pick it up out of layaway. https://www.guns.com/news/2024/02/06/meet-the-new-smith-wesson-ultimate-carry-j-frame-in-32-h-and-r-mag-and-38-spl

  4. This excellent condition Walther PP, 7.65mm has been SOLD. This is the last gun I'm selling from my .32 ACP collection, and it's certainly the best from a cosmetic perspective. Crown over N proof mark, 1975 date of manufacture, Von Stavenhagen sights. This was apparently a police gun, judging from the lanyard ring. Comes with four magazines. When I bought it, it came with two blued magazines -- one with finger rest extension and Walther markings, and one with no finger rest and Manurhin markings. I bought the two silver-colored Walther finger rest magazines separately. $750 to a TN resident legally able to purchase handguns. This is quite a bargain with the four magazines. I live in Chattanooga but travel to Nashville periodically and will drive a reasonable distance for a deal. Not really looking for trades but feel free to make suggestions. I like older S&W revolvers and SIG P200-series semiautos. Thanks for looking, Whisper

  7. There is no doubt the 442 is a great carry gun but as much as I like the classic lines of a J-frame I bet those sights are one of those “game-changers”.

  9. We hired a couple men to come and cut about 4 miles of horse trails on my daughter's 89-acre farm. First guy had a work ethic problem. That might be an option for you if you just need a tad bit of cutting. The last guy we hired did superb work and was fairly reasonable for the amount of money he had tied up in the cutter and tracked skid steer. The last guy we got was out of Lebanon TN. The trails were really grown up and he had the grinder head that ground the trees and brush into chips. Said the cutter cost him 60,000. new and the Skid Steer was about 40,000 used. Plus, he had to have a dully truck and heavy trailer to be mobile with it. We paid him by the hour, and he produced good work. We cut 4 miles of trails, 10 feet wide, up and down hills, and it ended up costing my daughter about 6,000,00. I walked the trails and used surveyors' tape so he could follow it through the brush. Worked out really well for us. May be an option for you Darrell.

  10. More downsizing. Excellent condition 6" 648-2. I thought I had the box, but apparently not. Ahrends cocobolo grips. You can't get them anymore and they are very expensive to buy them now. Most I see are in the $250 range I am pretty sure I have the original Hogue's here that I will include if I can find them. I won't separate the Ahrends grips from the pistol. $1000. Meet within a reasonable distance (30 min) of Chapel Hill.

  13. Up for sale is one of my AR-15’s, a 10.3" 5.56x45mm, or as I like to call it my MK18 clone. The barrel is a Defense Daniel 10.3", Upper Receiver is a Aero Precision(not M4E1, just the regular one) with a BCM 9" quadrail and Silencerco ASR Flash Hider to attach your favorite suppressor. Bolt carrier group is a non-logo'd Toolcraft Nickel Boron. Gas Block is a Gessele Low Profile Gas block. The Upper was built by a TGO member a couple years ago. I have used it as my primary shooting rifle/bag gun for 3 years so expect the typical wear on the lower/handguard. I have shot it mostly suppressed with a mix of 5.56/.223 Rem and .22LR with a CMMG Conversion bolt. Lower Receiver is a factory PSA MOE EPT with the MOE grip from magpul and PSA's Enhanced Polished Trigger. The Pistol brace is a knock off SBA3 that works just the same. Comes with Magpul MBUS Gen III $600 dollars with ASR Flash Hider and Magpul MBUS Gen III sights. Located in Nashville, TN. Add a Tan Surefire 600U with pressure pad for $200! First I'll take it gets it.

  14. $700 P80 frame, Alpha Wolf stainless slide, Glock brand upper and lower parts kits. Slide is direct mill for a Vortex dot and has suppressor height tritium front sight. Gun will come with both threaded and standard barrels, both Alpha Wolf. Comes with factory weight (17 lb) captured recoil spring/guide rod and a 24 lb captured spring on a stainless steel heavy guide rod. With either barrel (full chamber support) and the 24 lb spring/stainless guide rod this gun can safely run full power .45 SUPER loads. Or it can run soft .45 ACP loads with the factory weight spring. I also find that it runs better suppressed with the 24 lb spring, but that may be dependent on your suppressor and load.

  17. I carried a 640 in 357 and a 642 in .38 as a pocket gun for a long time and both of them had sights that sucked and the triggers really lacked as well. These new UC versions are reported to have much better triggers and sights fixing the only real complaints I ever had about a J frame. I currently carry a 2nd issue Detective Special in my pocket using a sticky holster any time my pants are on, and I think this may replace that

  22. Most machines are designed so that the cab/driver section can tilt up. You usually have to take out two bolts to do this. This will allow access inside the chassis and behind the engine. This area rarely, if ever, gets cleaned and is usually packed with dirt and mud. Hose it out really good. Check everything you can get to. Hoses, belts, drive gear, chains, etc. Replace anything with any wear at all. Check all hydraulic cylinders for leaks and make sure they hold where ever they stop at without leaking down. Most hydraulic repairs are pretty straight forward. Leaks, blown hoses, bad cylinders etc. However, be aware that getting to the bad part, especially the routing of hoses through the chassis can be a major witch! Especially when its already blown and there's oil sprayed all over everything.

  30. Thanks for the replies and info. S I L will get it today. His 31 Y O son, who has "Downs Syndrome", wanted his mother to wrap the pistol box in pink paper. She did. His dad picks at Cody all the time. A little payback never hurts. His whole family will be here at 1:00 for lunch. BBQ and Fried Chicken, cheezie Mack n cheese, baked beans, salad ranch dressing, Coconut cream pie and B Day Cake, you know, Man food guys. My birthday today also, 76 today. Just never figured I would be here for this day. I am blessed by God. Bible says man's normal allotted days, baring accident or health, are three score and 10 (70 Years). Or if blessed four score (80 Y O). I AM TRAVELING BLESSED TIME GUYS. Jesus Christ is the way. (John 3:16-17) For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him. Life is good for me today. I have accomplished the things necessary to put myself into the position to be able to take advantage of God's saving grace, through faith, in His Son Jesus. Put simply, I am on the way to heaven, today. Can't wait to see Son In Laws face getting a 12" square Pink Box that he has no Idea what is in it. We goanna have a big laugh, together!

  33. I only really have 1 tip & it's as much shooting related as it is reloading. Actually, no. I have 2, but they're basically all rolled up together. This one will annoy & possibly anger some people, but I've never had it fail yet. When you look in any load data book, it'll show a 'min' & 'max' charge. Load your cases from min to max at 10% intervals. Only 1 of each. You're looking for pressure signs, not accuracy now. Now, shoot them 1 at a time, at any range. Hell, shoot them into the ground. But starting with the hottest. You shouldn't, but if you see any pressure signs with the hottest, grab one from the middle & then work up until you see pressure. Pick the load below pressure signs & load 30 of them. Also, learn to read real pressure signs. Extractors marks, ejector marks & bolt swipe at minimum. Primer flattening may, or may not be indicative of pressure. Don't rely on just that. Use that load to zero your scope & then shoot ALL the rest as a group. Everyone bases their accuracy from 3 or 5 round groups & that's not enough. I guarantee, pretty much every book load, from min to max, will shoot into roughly the same group size, given enough data points. 10 shots minimum, 30 is better. That 4th round 'flyer' is almost guaranteed to be part of the natural accuracy cone. You're just not shooting enough to notice. Here's a perfect example of why 3 & round groups don't tell the whole truth. If I'd stopped at 3, It'd be a sub .250 rifle ("all day, if i do my part" The group of 5 on the right would get me bragging that is a sub-MOA gun (ADIIDMP) In actual fact, when you combine the 2 & the 2 that most would call flyers (they weren't) is a 1½moa gun. And honestly, as hunting rifle go, that's pretty frikkin' stellar! There. That rattled a few feathers, didn't it?!

  34. I know it's a long shot here, but I'd rather deal with most TGO folk than the general public. Starts easy and runs good, is not rideable as both the front and rear brakes need service. Clear title in hand, I can probably answer any specific questions. $12,000. Absolutely no trades. More pics available upon request.

  35. I'm not for removal of alcohol either. I don't even begrudge folks for safely getting a buzz and using it as social lubricant. What I can't stand is the enabler and the taboo nature of telling someone they have a problem. "Hey hey, don't call Ted an alcoholic! You don't know what he's been through!". That's very true. I don't walk in Ted's shoes. But, do you know who else won't be walking in Ted's shoes soon? Ted. Because Ted is gonna die. Hope you're OK with that. I guess that's easier than hurting Ted's feelings.
