I stumbled across this video completely by accident. I'M STOKED! I have owned a 9422XTR for many years. It's my absolute favorite .22 Rifle. I've always lusted after the 16" Trapper version. But those are super scarce and super expensive. I just know Winchester will offer this new Ranger in a Trapper version soon. I WILL BUY ONE! Meanwhile this new rifle looks great. I may get one of these too.

Take this as absolute Gospel. You CAN NOT hide anything from a kid! They will find it! I do have a couple of guns stashed in convenient locations around my house. But on the rare occasion when a kid may come visiting, I lock up everything. If/when I ever get grandkids, all my guns will be locked up when they visit.

We just got our stuff back this week from the taxidermist. If you ever decide to go over, let me know. My point of contact there had us 18 yards from a trio of big cape buffalo and they killed a lioness in camp while we were there.

This trailer gave me chills. I’m 1000% in for them.

I picked up a Tisas 2011 last week. Paid a little over $900 for it locally. It came with 2x17 round mags and a bushing wrench I'll probably never use. Trigger was 5.5# out of the box so I adjusted it to about 3# before taking it to the range. It fed and fired fine about 200 of my reloads, which were 135gr coated lead running about 1050 FPS. The only issue I had was brass to face. It would consistently put ejected cases on top of my head or in my face. I tightened up the extractor tension a bit but no dice. I reprofiled the ejector tip and now it ejects properly. Accuracy was good, easy to put them in one hole at 10 yards. Sight regulation was right on for my particular load but the rear sight gap was slightly wider than I’d like. Unfortunately, the rear sight seems like a unique dovetail so it might be difficult to replace it with a different aftermarket sight. Springfield Prodigy mags worked as well as the Tisas mags. Slide lock back was consistent with the Tisas mags, can’t remember about the Prodigy mags. The barrel uses a Clark-Para style ramp. The top of the ramp had a sharp rollover but it didn’t seem to impede feeding. The throat was long and a 9mm Manson finishing reamer removed no metal at all (the Prodigy required reaming). The bullet profiles I tend to use in my reloads will stick in barrels with short throats (like FN 509s) unless I load extra super short, so I'll ream the barrels with a finish reamer to cut a proper throat in them. Fortunately the Tisas shop thinks like I do :D One pet peeve was the sharp corner of the frame right below the serial number. Other manufacturers bevel this edge to varying degrees, but the Tisas had none at all. Depending on your grip and hand size, this could be a problem. If you have a high enough grip, this edge will rub a hole in you before too long. The manual said nothing at all about what red dot sights are supported, or what the optic screw pitch was. The slide seems to be cut directly for the mini RDS direct mount, the RMRCC pattern that is shared with the Holosun 407k/507k sights. I have a lot of 2011s of different flavors, and I’m favorably impressed with the Tisas DS, I give it two thumbs up.

The only gun that's ever "out" is my carry pistol when I'm not carrying it. Even then, it's near me. Outside of that it's the main safe or the quick access safe. Once the kids are gone, I'll probably leave out a rifle and a shotgun. Honestly, I could probably do that now because my kids aren't into it outside of humoring me. I would be more concerned about other kids that they may bring over who don't have their discipline. I never hid it from my kids, so they aren't too impressed. My sons friend though, he's REALLY curious about firearms. I told my son its probably best to exclude my hobby. He looked at me sternly and said "oh... you don't have to worry about that" Good boy.

I only really have 1 tip & it's as much shooting related as it is reloading. Actually, no. I have 2, but they're basically all rolled up together. This one will annoy & possibly anger some people, but I've never had it fail yet. When you look in any load data book, it'll show a 'min' & 'max' charge. Load your cases from min to max at 10% intervals. Only 1 of each. You're looking for pressure signs, not accuracy now. Now, shoot them 1 at a time, at any range. Hell, shoot them into the ground. But starting with the hottest. You shouldn't, but if you see any pressure signs with the hottest, grab one from the middle & then work up until you see pressure. Pick the load below pressure signs & load 30 of them. Also, learn to read real pressure signs. Extractors marks, ejector marks & bolt swipe at minimum. Primer flattening may, or may not be indicative of pressure. Don't rely on just that. Use that load to zero your scope & then shoot ALL the rest as a group. Everyone bases their accuracy from 3 or 5 round groups & that's not enough. I guarantee, pretty much every book load, from min to max, will shoot into roughly the same group size, given enough data points. 10 shots minimum, 30 is better. That 4th round 'flyer' is almost guaranteed to be part of the natural accuracy cone. You're just not shooting enough to notice. Here's a perfect example of why 3 & round groups don't tell the whole truth. If I'd stopped at 3, It'd be a sub .250 rifle ("all day, if i do my part" The group of 5 on the right would get me bragging that is a sub-MOA gun (ADIIDMP) In actual fact, when you combine the 2 & the 2 that most would call flyers (they weren't) is a 1½moa gun. And honestly, as hunting rifle go, that's pretty frikkin' stellar! There. That rattled a few feathers, didn't it?!

My bedroom, office, and mancave all have electronic door locks to keep everyone except my wife and I out. Additionally, in the rooms where I spend the most time with my grandson, all guns not on my person are locked up. He's accustomed to be being asked to leave the room while I lock the door behind us, even if I'm just going to go pee. Safety first, here.

I have several gun diversions books scattered through out the house which are lockable, and to my knowledge wife nor kid has ever asked me about those books in 20 years. I also have a couple of those gun vault devices that require a code attached to various night stands, I just have to remember to check the batteries when I do the smoke alarms batteries. I also have one shotgun stored horizontally in my closet stored up around the ceiling above the door which is my go to gun in a hurry, one would have to stand in the closet, turn around and look up. It is the only gun in the house that someone could access, but will need a step stool, I am tall enough to reach for it. I do keep the chamber empty for a just in case a kid did reach for it, its a pump and not easily racked from a kid perspective, but anything is possible.

If you like to read, read the books. There are quite a few of them.

You can never say 100% for sure that any kid-- obedient, disabled, or not -- won't suddenly decide to go snooping in drawers, closets, etc. If there's a kid in the house regularly, I would strongly advise that any gun in the house should be in a safe or gun room, or secure on your person. Heavy barrel and the optics mount is made directly to the barrel. It may look odd but it would be hard to find a better target 22 at any price.

Moved to middle Tennessee 6 years ago, absolutely love this place. Should have done it years before. I'm a Desert Storm veteran, USAF. LOVE guns, big Sig and AR fan. What did you go with? when we moved well over a decade ago we purged a lot of things until we found a new place. picked up several desk drawer/supports- old thicker metal. Some scrap 2x and casters I slapped this together with intension to upgrade. Lots of component spillover but I still load here and roll away. Handle on one side, back has Texas corner style, top has overhang on one side for single stage with 550b in middle. Bottom drawers bullets in use so heavy, but solid I don’t bother to lock casters. About $40 bucks in it without adding other project leftover lumber/glue/screws/finish coat
