I'm a confessed Sig fan fanboy, so I like collecting some of the rarer examples. Back before Sig was Sig-Sauer, they were bound by strict Swiss export laws. Partnering with W Germany's JP Sauer & Sohn in 1976, they produced their guns in Eckernforde and began exporting to the world. Before Sig Sauer was an approved importer into the US, they ran their first imports through Hawes Firearms, and Browning. The Sig Sauer P220 was the first of these rebranded guns, and was marketed as the Browning Double Action Pistol - the BDA. The BDA was imported for only three short years, after which Sig Sauer was a registered US manufacturer for their own products. It had the Euro-style heel magazine release, which limited its success, but the modern design was undeniably effective. Approximately 10,000 sold in 45ACP, and another ~2700 in 9mm. The rarest of all was the BDA chambered in. 38 Super. Only 750 or so of these rare Sigs were imported under the Browning partnership, and they are one of the hardest early US Sig handguns to find. I'm pleased to have come across two over the years, and I snagged them both. Note they have an unusual slide profile at the muzzle. This is alternately called a "pinched" or "dolphin" nose, and was unique to the ~3400 9mm and 38 Super BDA's.4 points

My latest Lever. Marlin 1893 Chambered in 38-55 made in 1900. Started out for me as a barreled receiver with the lever, bolt, hammer and loading gate included. There was no stock, no forend, no mag tube(or components), no rear sight, not forend cap or tenon. Additionally, the listing said the hammer would not lock back. The case color hardening was all but gone from the receiver (one small spot left on the inside of the lower tang plate) but the bluing on the 26” octagonal barrel still looks very good. The first thing was to figure that out turned out to be a rusted trigger spring l was having trouble finding one for an 1893 I took a chance on a trigger spring from an early 1897 (precursor to the 39a). It worked and the first issue was fixed I found the mag tube (and inner parts), rear sight, forend cap, forend tenon. Picked up a reproduction stock and forend set made of American Black Walnut. I had to finish the inletting for the tang and forend and I had to do the final shaping and apply a hand rubbed oil finish. That took a while. I finally have it all done. The stock I found was a “carbine” style. Not an issue I thought. I like them. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize that finding a Marlin 1893 Carbine butt plate was a kin to finding hen’s teeth. I do still need one and that is why there is a recoil pad on the rifle, hiding the missing butt plate. Here is a photo. If I can figure out the photo hosting site Kahrman suggested, I’ll put ip a bunch of photos of the process.3 points

Here's a H&K USC 16" Bbl 45acp that I converted to a H&K UMP. You can see the progress info. and pics in the Show and Tell Section. I'll be honest and pics will show, the vent cuts did not come out great as I wanted, I cut them free handed the best I could. The rail sections cover them and you'd have to look close to see. Other than that it's good. $2250 Cash FTF with everything shown. I live in the Whitehouse area and can meet locally around Goodlettsville, Hendersonville, Gallatin and Nashville area but willing to drive a little to meet and complete the transaction. Parts List. H&K USC 45acp 16"Bbl Upper Reciever H&K Complete UMP Lower, H&K Rails, H&K UMP Mags. XS Front Night Sight, HOLOSUN 510 w/ Quick Detach Lever Folding Stock Adapter, UMP Stock H&K Carrying Case H&K UMP/USC Manual, Blackhawk Sling w/ H&K Style Hooks Any other questions or if you need some more pictures please PM me. Thanks for looking. Not looking for trades but would consider if it's something interesting, S&W Pre Lock Blued Revolvers, Springfield Armory, ED Brown, NightHawk 1911's, or other decent 1911's in 45ac, 9mm, 10mm, Staccato's 2011's (no Kimbers, nothing personal unless you have a 10mm) if I do decide to trade the trade value of this is $2500 taking in the fact that the Vent Cuts. This is ready to be turned into a SBR, all you need is a H&K 45acp Bbl. or a H&K 9mm/ 40cal Conversion Kit, all those parts can be found on HK PARTS were I purchased every part to put this together.2 points

Been looking for good . 357 carry revolver and was curious about the K6S or a King Cobra. Willis68 had both and I got to handle them both and both are fantastic. The K6S was just so light, thin, slim, and modern feeling. At the same time, it felt solid and tight. I really liked the looks of the 2" barrel but really liked the increased ballistics of the 3". I got to say this is the most carriable 3" revolver I've ever held. Excited to get it to the range.2 points

SOLD Thanks for looking, Whisper I'm continuing to prune the collection and need to cut back on shotguns. Here for sale is a Beretta 1301 Competition, 12 ga, in excellent condition, lightly used (I took one shotgun class with it) and with the scarce option of two barrels. I had one barrel cut back to 20" for defensive uses (no choke) and the other barrel is 24" and has interchangeable chokes. These extra barrels are scarce -- I can't find them for less than $700 anywhere right now. With this setup you could have one barrel for defensive purposes and the longer barrel for hunting. The shotgun is the original 1301 Comp but I've added the aftermarket bolt release shroud to prevent the bolt release from accidentally moving backwards. It also has a picatinny rail already installed on the receiver and a +1 magazine extension. Included is a Steiner weapon mounted light (screws onto the magazine tube so can only be used without the mag extension). Comes in a Beretta hard case as shown, plus manual and choke wrench. $1300 to a TN resident legally able to purchase firearms. I live in Chattanooga but travel to Nashville fairly often and would drive a reasonable distance for a deal. Trades considered, although I'm not really looking for anything specific at the moment. If someone would like to purchase the second barrel separately, we can discuss. Thanks for looking, Whisper2 points

Attended a UT agricultural seminar The presenter stated Tn is losing farm land at an alarming rate of 8 acres per minute or 70.000 to 80.000 per year on average due to home development. Older farmers dying. and other factors He said TN was 2nd or 3 rd depending on data gathered in the nation for Farm land loss. And now fertilizer has gone to 750 dollars a ton at my Coop Food cost will be going up on a positive note now is a good time to over seed your lawn or put pre emergent chemicals down for weeds But you can’t do both at the same time unfortunately I thought this was important information farm report done2 points

I'm a huge fan of police trade pistols and accessories. They are some of the best deals around and leave room in the budget for accessories/ammo. Below is my latest setup from products mostly purchased through end of the year and during New Year's sale promotions on various websites. The Gun - A 9mm P320 C police trade in with 3 magazines ended up in my cart on sale for $299.98 at Botach. At that price, I figured give it a shot. I don't know where it came from but, I don't think this thing was ever used. With surplus trades, you usually get a few scratches and scuffs but this thing came pretty clean. Wilson Combat Grip - $60 delivered with an opticsplanet coupon code. The cool thing about P320 surplus guns is you're likely to change the grip out anyway and that might be the only part that actually shows much wear. Sights - Ended up getting a set of Warren Tactical Fiber Optic Sights for half price and free shipping during their end of the year sale. Came out to about $23. Weapon Light - TLR7X - Amazon - $130 Holster - Safariland Basket Weave ALS P320 C TLR-7 from Kings Firearms in Columbia. - $14.99 https://www.kingsfirearmsonline.com/products/safariland-528 All in - After shipping, taxes and fees - Came in at about $640 OTD. How'd I do?2 points

I have a Ruger LCP and really love it's size and how it is easy to carry, but I read somewhere (I think it was Masaad Ayoob) that the 380's lack the speed to really open up hollow points and other defensive ammo so I just carry FMJ in mine. Now, that said, I understand some of the newer ammo's are touting that they will expand in this cartridge, but I don't know.2 points

Every single Browning A5 made by FN was hand-engraved (Edit for clarity: or had no engraving at all). Fun fact - no two are exactly alike. In fact, usually the engraving was completed by several apprentice gunsmiths, each completing the work in the area they were best at (scrollwork, floral, game, etc). They did come in six different grades, with correlating price increases. Most Magnums tended to be ordered in higher grades, only because the typical magnum consumer (who was, by definition, someone who cared to specify for magnum loads) also cared more about engraving.2 points

Apparently there was a “grade” offered that had no engraving on the receiver, if I have researched correctly.2 points

$400 Great little gun, just don't shoot it much. This is the Ghost Buster edition, stainless steel with raw aluminum grips. For its size, it is actually a really comfortable gun to shoot. Super fun suppressed, and very quiet with the short barrel. I'll include a box of Federal Punch .22lr ammo (might be a few rounds light from test firing). Comes with 3 mags.2 points

$1,000 Great gun. Only has 40 or 50 rounds through it. This is one of the newer models with both the tube mag feed and the side loading gate. The leather bullet carrier comes with it, as do the rounds that are in there. Will also include a box of Remington green/yellow box ammo, the Hornady ammo that is in the carrier, and whatever other ammo I can find for it.2 points

Looking for a low cost complete upper in 233/556. Nothing special, 12.5" to 20". Need BCG, but I have plenty of charging handles. Strong preference for one with a dust cover. Optic not needed, I have several on the shelf. Don't care what rail it has, A2 would work also. $300 or less, I'll add $20 for shipping. I'm in East Tennessee in Jefferson City. Travel in the tool truck to Greeneville, Morristown and surrounding areas. Pm here please. Edit to add... I have a lower for it, just need the top half.1 point

Well, I think the long, long threads on lever rifles might have been the first clue.1 point
-
Okay, so the ones that are not engraved are just the ones people ordered and did not pay extra to have them factory engraved. That makes sense.1 point

Only reasons I sold the bag-380 I had was the laser issue and I had somebody who wanted to buy it, plus I wanted more capacity so I got a Ruger LCP Max to replace it.1 point

The land around me that is being developed, at an alarmingly fast rate, has not been farmed for at least a decade, if ever. Most of that land was either owned by a farmer who has been gone for at least a decade or two and the land was left in Family Land Trust but not actively farmed or was owned by a large land trust for the purpose of speculation/wealth. The only farms that still exist in a ~40 mile radius of me are 30~100 acre hobby farms with less than 100 head of livestock, a few hay fields, or a few 10~20 acre fields of row crop. At least here in my area of Mid TN the ground is too rocky or the hills to extreme to row crop for food production, efficiently or economically at least. The ~30 acre field behind me had soybeans 7 or 8 years ago. That was the last time it was planted. The last planting was left unharvested and the field was returned to weed/brush growth. The cost of the diesel to harvest the beans was greater than the yield from the field would have paid. I think he has partially bush hogged it twice in the last 7 years. Not a huge loss in my opinion, soybeans are horrible and the more fields of those we loose the better off we are. Along those lines our, now sold, family farm was up in Robertson County and in the middle of lots of small to medium sized tobacoo farms. With already low and further decreasing demand for tobacco products much of that land is being repurposed. Some of it went to corn or hay, some of it went to developers, some of it went to livestock but there is a lot of it that is just not actively farmed for any purpose anymore. I don't think the blame is solely on home development even though it hurts to see pretty woods and fields turned into subdivisions.1 point

I don’t know if they’re saying what I am hearing when they call it that. To me, calling a gun “museum grade“ would infer, that while it’s great to look at, you probably shouldn’t shoot it.1 point

The counter is actually part of the rotary magazine spindle. If you can put shells in it, the counter will work. Everybody needs a 99 Savage, if for no other reason than just to see how they were designed.1 point

I think the biggest thing I'd do differently is with pistol and rimfire cans. Instead of purchasing stainless steel baffled models id opt for either titanium or aluminum. Breakfree's suppressor cleaner they recently released is really nice. Don't get me wrong, the mask and obsidian 45 are awesome at what they do, they're just heavy.1 point

I wouldn't. Glock has a wayyyy better track record. But thats why everyone has an opinion. I feel they are over priced for what you get and their more expensive ones are pushing you into Nighthawk, Atlas, etc prices which make the Staccato look like a Ruger LCP lol. If you really like them thats awesome and Im sure there are things we could both agree on about them as well.1 point

I have been where you are. No way around it, it just sucks. My friends death still bothers me today. Such a waste of a life. Sorry you are having to go through so much lately.1 point

Steps to success: 1. Stick with the Glock 2. Buy a bunch of ammo 3. Go get a lot of good training1 point

As is well documented, I like lever guns. I parted ways with one recently (Thanks @Rob112o) in anticipation of buying a Marlin in 44-70 or another old Winchester SRC. However, I was checking local haunts for odd ammo and such and one of them had a used Marlin Golden 39a for sale. While I was not looking to buy a 39a, it was definitely on the “list”. This poor rifle was filthy. The bore looked good, so I think the PO must have cleaned it at times, but the action was filthy, as were all the nooks and crannies. Also, it had obviously been left too close to a campfire as side of the stock was charred and the butt plate was missing (it had an old ratty butt pad covering it. The rifle had a period correct Weaver V-22 rimfire scope as well. Unfortunately, the eyepiece was broken I looked it over and talked to the counter guy. It was listed at $600 but he offered to let it go at $500. I was going to wait because of some GB auctions I was bidding on, but when I checked them, I had been out bid. Fate was telling me to buy it. I figured that would have to drop another $150+ on a replacement factory stock, but the price was good. I wish I had taken before photos of how grungy the entire rifle was. I took it apart completely and cleaned up the metal parts with denatured alcohol. The stock and forend were cleaned up with denatured alcohol and acetone using 0000 steel wool to remove the grunge and old finish. The stock had been lacquered at some point and took more work. Since I was initially planning on replacing it, I was more aggressive and used some 150 and 400 grit sandpaper. I was able to remove the finish and the loose burnt wood until I got down to decent “charred” wood. Once done, I went back with several applications of Danish Oil. I think it turned out pretty nice. I actually like the look of the charred areas. I have a “new” butt plate on the way. Once I get it installed, I will see how much modification it will need to match new contour of the end of the stock. I can always replace the stock if I want to, but I like that I have saved the original stock as best as I can. Still on the hunt for a 45-70.1 point

Guys, I picked up some 300 BO from Lee at Rockvale Machine and Armory. Didn't know there was a range there. Very good deal on the ammo, Nice guy. Components available. I have invited him to become TGO vendor. 615-487-96761 point
