  1. This might get me banned but we could solve a lot of issue in our "justice" system by turning Old Sparky back on! Capitol punishment does deter crime when it is applied publicly.

  8. When using a progressive press if you get interrupted and need to leave the press for any reason always leave it with the ram up, all cases in their dies. This way there is no question of where you are in the process.

  12. I will only have one container of powder on my bench at a time. The rest is in a cabinet out of sight and out of reach. I NEVER leave powder in the powder measure. Quick as I’m finished, back in the container and to the cabinet it goes. I just don’t have the memory to do otherwise.

  13. I still use a LEE single stage, it keeps the process easier for me to keep up with what is going on, I just do everything in batches like mentioned above. I only reload for rifle, no pistol. I use 50 rd loading blocks, and when doing load development, I space the empty brass out in the loading blocks for the different powder charges I'll be weighing out on the beam scale (I have a list with the various powder charges written down and check them off as I weigh/fill the cases), then I seat the bullets. After I find the load I'm satisfied with, I use a RCBS LITE to measure out the powder charges but still check every nth charge on the beam scales to monitor the accuracy of the LITE when I'm loading up several hundred rounds for a varmint shoot out west. I use a small flashlight to look in each case before I seat the bullet to ensure there is powder there. I've only had one squib since I started re-loading, hope I just didn't signify on myself. I prime the cases on the press as ol artie causes too much discomfort to hand prime anymore, and doing it on the press is a bit slower, but much easier on the hands. I'm retired/retarded, so I've got the time, I put the empty cases into a reloading block neck down until the primer is inserted, then it's turned neck up to tell me it's ready for the powder charge. I have missed priming a case or two, and it does make a mess when the powder starts coming out of the primer hole, so I usually do a double check to ensure I've primed all the cases. LOL

  14. I’ve not progressed beyond a single stage. I clean, size, and prep cases in batches, and store them until such time I want to reload them. I’ll then charge one case, grab a bullet, and load that round. Repeat. I realize this isn’t the most efficient way to do it, but it works for me. I know they’d be handy, but I’ve never owned a reloading tray.

  15. Not that it will stop these idiots from passing a law they know is unconstitutional, but the SCOTUS has already ruled that an infringement on ammo is the same as an infringement on firearms. Sadly, the twits that pass these laws have unlimited tax payer dollars to defend these laws in court.

  26. Assuming your 617 is a later model the top strap should be drilled and tapped. If that's the case then there are several options out there for a mount. You remove the rear sight assembly and install the mount in its place.

  28. My Dad was WW-2 and didn't talk about it much either accept some side stories. Found a bunch of pictures he took in England and Europe when I cleaned out my parents house after both were gone, that I had never seen. Would have been nice to ask him about some of them, I can only guess. He use to make comments about war movies, about how that isn't the way it was. Luckily no big outburst, just didn't like the story being told wrong.

  29. They have a vehicle based system that can send the alert to all cell towers within some distance from the truck. They used it for a silver alert less than a mile from my house a few years ago. One of my former coworkers found the man behind his house. I agree that the distribution and timing often seems odd, but its probably worth the annoyance.

  30. If ya have a progressive loader ( I do... A Dillon 650 ), I would strongly recommend that ya choose a powder that cannot double charge a case without spilling out of the case. Using fast burning powders in progressive loaders is a genuine hazard, even if ya can see in every case. If you use a single stage press, look at the powder level in every case. I habitually prep and expand the cases, then I add powder as a stand alone step, usually prepping them 50 at a time. I then look in every single case to verify the powder level. I also may check weigh the powder charge out of a few of the cases as well. I find myself reloading more and more in the old single stage press than the Dillon; especially when loading the bigger cases with powders like Unique, 231, or Titegroup... leroy.

  34. If you are talking about a noise reduction device that fits on the end of the barrel of a firearm. I was working with my son a few months back. We over heard a few leftest commies talking about these and how it makes it easier for a "killer to kill more people, because no one will here the shots". No lie, I had to keep from laughing, my son had to hold me back from giving them the truth. I cant believe people think "Hollywood quite" is real.

  36. People are going to laugh. But a CZ scorpion. It is so heavy for 9mm that it has very little recoil. Add my Dead Air Ghost 45 to it and it is a tack driver with little to no recoil. Very easy for anyone to pick up and shoot. It is not intimidating for new shooters, it's fun for old shooters, unique enough that a surprising number of folks have not shot one yet, especially with the can. just a good fun range gun. always a crowd favorite.

  37. Military grade, LMFHO, civilian ammo is much more accurate and more effective. FMJ is not in my EDC or SHTF stash for a reason. Most military ammo just needs to be 3 or 4 MOA, whereas target or hunting rounds try and achieve at least 1 MOA, most sub MOA, and they are designed to DRT your target.

  38. Have a couple of CZ-50s. Accurate little pistols, but the trigger is a bit stiff. Cleared out a family of nuisance raccoons from a tree on the edge of my yard (bout 30-35 yds) off hand with my left hand holding my old surefire light bracing my firing hand. All I could see were the reflections of their retinas. Brought them all down with just one magazine though. Better days for my hands back then.

  39. Bump. FYI, someone on here was bugging me about finding it for cheaper somewhere else and how my price point would "make it hard to resell them in this economy". If that's you or your line of thought, keep walking. I am not here to facilitate your ability to maximize the value of these items. Also, good luck explaining to the alphabet boys your not-business strategy. And to boot, according to my research, you CAN'T find it cheaper anywhere else. Occasionally they show up on GB for less than $3K. These are extremely rare. And if you can find it IN STOCK cheaper somewhere else, I'll be happy to negotiate that with you. I am not unreasonable, but I am short on patience when it comes to the scheming little parasites in this community.

  40. You'll really be surprised what a .380 is capable of with the new Federal .380 ACP Hydra-Shok Deep ammo! In ballistic gelatin it not only expands to about 1.4 times its original diameter but also penetrates to 13 inches, exceeding the FBI's minimum penetration standard (the first and only .380 ammo to ever do so.) This is a game changer. An in-depth review can be found here: SHOT Show: A review of Federal’s Hydra-Shok Deep ammo (police1.com) This great ammo is now available in .380, .38+P, 9mm, and .45. LEOs have been gobbling it up but it's gradually getting easier to find.

  41. Thank you my friend. All 3 pictured are $400.00 or less guns purchased within the past 4 or so years. Well seasoned but obviously well cared for by their previous owners. ( Disclaimer: I mis-typed, mis-thought. Those 2 revolvers are both S&W Model 10's...I was thinking I needed to grab my 15 as I headed, out so I guess that's why I typed that ) (I'll edit the above pic post...) I'm fortunate to have hoarded back a few Tyler T-grips (4" Model 10) over the years and have also been using BK Grip Adapters (2" Model 10) which serve that role well. My budget is tight, Isn't it for us all these days? But there are wheel gun bargains out there if we're patient. So these are a few of the many things I'm Thankful for today and every day.

  42. While not necessarily a gun I seek out each range trip, it's one I pocket carry an LCR .38 spl each and every day, so it makes every range trip with me and I shoot it pretty much weekly. My LCR in .38 spl that I was fortunate to purchase from a member here a few years ago. (Range=ORSA) My Model 10 snub and Model 15 are frequent companions. Especially the past few months. The 10 snub is in my AIWB holster as I type this and prepare to head to the range. (ETA: The below revolvers are both S&W Model 10's. 4" and a 2"...I just told myself to grab the 15 before I left for the range...)

  43. I can't say that it makes every range (my "range" is on an old part of my farm) trip with me, but it is along for most of them.... It's a Ruger Blackhawk "three screw" made back in '67. Very satisfying to shoot.
