Nah man, I got really tired of Amber Alerts waking me up between 1-3am because a non-custodial parent had possession of their child in Shelby County.7 points

RIP Deputy McGowan. It was refreshing to see S&W kick in 40k reward money.5 points

Maybe I'm also an a-hole, but when I'm asleep in my bed, I am not going to wake up and join the search. Therefore I put my phone on DoNotDisturb on a schedule for 8 hours every night. I'm not offended by them in any way, but I sleep poorly enough as it is, so it can wait til morning. I don't need to add my phone to the list of things that wake me up from a sound sleep. I check the alerts right away the next morning and throughout the day to see if I need to be on the lookout or not though.4 points

I got the message twice and it contained a link to facebook, which didn't work. It turns my stomach to think that some important detail for the community requires zuckerturd.3 points

Sad situation. Hopefully he's caught without anyone else getting hurt. Side note, am I the only heartless bastard that has amber alerts turned off? I don't have an option to turn the Blue alerts off.3 points

And of course the crazy thing is, there is no line on a P&L, there's no one in any boardroom of any publicly traded company anywhere that says this is a bad decision. To the contrary, to everyone who cares, it looks like a good decision. But then one day you wake up - and you've lost core capabilities. You literally cannot do those critical things anymore. You get to a point where not only have you taken advantage of your employees - but now your business model depends on that low cost labor because management has looted every last dollar and there's nothing left. Once storied brands are now shells of their former selves. And of course consumers are mostly okay with that. Yeah, we complain about it. But we also like paying $17.99 for a pair of jeans. And as it turns out - when 70% of GDP is consumer spending - this whole late stage capitalism thing kind of depends it.2 points

Did any of you guys have one of these? It came with a bunch of little wires, and the little pegs on the board were these little springs. You could bend the spring, insert the wire and create all kinds of circuits. I spent hours making all kinds of stuff. One of the things you could make was an AM radio, which was the coolest thing to an 8 year old.2 points

Well it did not inconvenience me I prayed for The murdered officer family and the other wounded officer and the BCSO family. This action by a felon will affect a lot of lives People should be grateful men and women are out there in the darkness keeping their communities safe. I doubt you’ll turn off those alerts when it you’re family and friends are involved2 points

I’ve not progressed beyond a single stage. I clean, size, and prep cases in batches, and store them until such time I want to reload them. I’ll then charge one case, grab a bullet, and load that round. Repeat. I realize this isn’t the most efficient way to do it, but it works for me. I know they’d be handy, but I’ve never owned a reloading tray.1 point

If ya have a progressive loader ( I do... A Dillon 650 ), I would strongly recommend that ya choose a powder that cannot double charge a case without spilling out of the case. Using fast burning powders in progressive loaders is a genuine hazard, even if ya can see in every case. If you use a single stage press, look at the powder level in every case. I habitually prep and expand the cases, then I add powder as a stand alone step, usually prepping them 50 at a time. I then look in every single case to verify the powder level. I also may check weigh the powder charge out of a few of the cases as well. I find myself reloading more and more in the old single stage press than the Dillon; especially when loading the bigger cases with powders like Unique, 231, or Titegroup... leroy.1 point

This one hangs out on my bench as a reminder. Carefulling in process hammered out above. Fast powders with poor case fill….. you can never be too careful. Not a scratch here, but I always wonder how this would have turned out if it wasn’t a plated HBwc. Shot out the tip like a rocket and burned through the cylinder stop notch on a s&w 64 scorching top strap. I think I shared on here a decade ago but here’s a reality show reminder. worse things have happened with factory loaded ammo, so don’t get complacent on the shooter side.1 point

I wouldn't mind the alert were it close to home. I just don't need to wake up and learn Grandpa got lost coming home from the Elk's club in Carroll County. I have a Ring camera, and the app for it notifies us of local things. I like that.1 point

I do not mean to diminish the gravity of the situation. What I'm saying is that an old man asleep in the bed in Macon County can't do much to help it.1 point

By pure happenstance I didn't turn on my " do not disturb " function on the phone. I woke up to this about 12:30 pm. I sent up a prayer over this as well. It is, indeed, sad that this act of madness happened. This shooter here must be a thoroughly dangerous man. It's reported that they tazed him with no effect and he hit the woods running after shooting the deputies. I don't think they have caught sight of him yet. I'ma thinkin he had a cel phone and made a rescue call and somebody picked him up. I'd say he is a " dead man walking " now... The BCSO does a pretty good job keeping a grip on the hoodlum class in Blount County, so I'm surprised and saddened by this barbarism. It simply demonstrates what is out there on " the frontier ". I grew up near this part of the world, know the territory pretty well, and have friends that live around here. That makes this senseless act of murder and mayhem all the more close to home. leroy...1 point

So, Oceaneva are the ones I test their watches, but my favorite Micro Brand American made watch company is Ocean Crawler. I bought the one pictured below Core Diver with the Orange band. I liked it so much that I traded the owner of Ocean Crawlers watches my Ball watch for 3 new watches of my choice. The First is a blue one Core Diver that I put a picture up of already with the leather band. The second is the full Lume Bolt model pictured below, ones shot of the watch before and one after lighted to show the Lume ( the high resolution picture shows it much better) I willl use my 3rd watch credit for something they come out with later. I absolutely love Ocean Crawler watches1 point

Yes. Go into your settings and search for it. Depending on what type of phone you have, it's not too hard to find and turn off.1 point

THIS!!! If my phone goes off with some alert every night from halfway across the state, I tend to ignore what might be pertinent to myself. When you get endangered child alerts for 17 year old runaways it kind of makes it unimportant. Chicken Little comes to mind.1 point

Barrel details? What kind of muzzle device? How much does it weigh? How's the recoil?1 point

I got two. One at 0023 and a second one at 0104. I don't have an option for Blue alerts so I turned off "public safety messages" this morning.1 point

My dad served in Nam. Mechanized artillery. M107 I believe. I never got a single story from him. He didn't want to talk about it at all. I learned a few sparse facts from my mother. I think I learned enough when I bought him his first DVD player and put in my favorite movie at the time "We were soldiers". At one point he popped out of his chair and started yelling at the guys for running after a Vietcong. "Don't do it, don't do it!" After that, I got it. He didn't need to relive it with me.1 point

I have my amber alerts off as well. Wife has her phone set for all of those, so she'll know when I didn't listen to her when she told me where to go. Sad to hear about the police officers, god speed with the families.1 point

Is you die screwed into the press until it touches the shellholder when all the way to the top? Did you acquire all these sizing dies used? Could someone have altered them? If your expander balls all measure .220" and your die is adjusted properly so that the expander ball goes through the neck of the case and the neck goes all the way up into the sizing die, You should have a pretty snug interference fit between a .224" bullet and a .220" case neck. Are you lubing your cases and making sure you pull the handle all the way to the bottom? It takes a fair amount of force to run a bottleneck case through a sizing die? Sorry if those seem like dumb questions, but I do not know what you know and am just trying to weed out the obvious?1 point

Be sure to look at completed auctions when comparing prices on Gunbroker. Otherwise, you are just seeing somebody's wild dream if you are looking at starting bids that never will be made. Also consider fees, shipping, ffl transfers, ect.1 point

Going underground will not be bad, if you know Jesus Christ. Life after death, through Jesus only way. Bible says no one comes to the Father except through Me. Be glad to chat with anyone about it. By the way Kano, I do enjoy every day above ground. afterwards, looking forward to Paradice through Him. Come go to church with me. Northfield Blvd Church of Christ, 2091 Pitts Lane, Murfreesboro TN. 37130. They teach nothing but the Bible, God's Holy Word. All you need along with faith in it. Edited to add; Cost nothing, but your life of devotion, above ground!1 point

SG is a top-notch family-owned business. Did you file a claim with UPS? If they lost it, it's really on them. They take their time though.1 point

My biggest thing is don’t do something else while you’re loading. I used to listen to podcasts, and I’ve had more than one round not get powder. Now I don’t do anything while reloading except for that. And if my wife comes to talk to me she knows I’m not paying attention until the bullet I’m working on goes in the ammo carrier.1 point

We all make mistakes. Sometimes you find yourself having to break down those mistakes with a hammer type bullet puller. Forget about that irritating spring loaded case holder that comes with it. Instead, use the shell holder from your die set. It fits perfectly in the hammer, is fast and easy to use.1 point

I've been there once. Walked in and was greeted. Walked around and browsed. I was asked if I could be helped, I politely said no thanks. While I was squatting down checking on items I might buy, I was told I couldn't carry my gun in the store without it being in a holster. I carry my g26 at 6 oclock in a 20yr old hybrid comptac iwb as I have for as long as I've owned that holster. When I lifted my shirt to show it was in a holster, the guy got offended that I would carry a gun like the "idiots" do on TV. I told him his attitude and statement lost a customer for life and asked where is the store manager. He said he was the "floor" manager. I just walked out. There is a gun store/range in Maryville called Gunnys...got treated like crap there too years ago and never went back. It's changed owners since then but I'll never go back to any place that doesn't respect their customers.1 point
