  2. Sad news indeed. I liked his music and loved what he did for our soldiers in all the USO tours he did. Most people don't realize how much he did for entertaining out troops. I got to see it first hand during my stint in Army Public Affairs. Got to meet him, very cordial guy, and he loved crappie fishing too. RIP Toby Keith.

  3. I bought this a while back as a project gun but it's been in the safe for a while and I decided to move onto another project. Per Colts web site this a 1924 Military 1911, It was used a target pistol back in the day, adjustable rear site was added and a front site was added. I just put on some old grip panels laying around so it was completed. I only have a single GI issue magazine for it. Asking $500 for it or best offer. If you are interested text or call me at 615-955-4302. Fact to face meets only, I'm in the Mt Juliet area.

  5. I seen it on the local news this morning. He fought a hard battle for sure. Brings things into perspective, especially for me. I've been battling stage 4 Colon, and Liver cancer for close to three years, and it's been tough. May he finally rest in peace without pain.

  9. Companies like this aren't moving to TN out of kindness or some love for our state. They are doing it for cheap labor and a lower tax burden. Our pay here is substantially less than other parts of the country. As long as people keep walking in the door willing to assemble guns for $16/hour, they don't have to pay more. My friend left TN and moved to Washington St where he makes over $120k as a nurse. The same job in TN was paying him $55k.

  10. Yes, I think that’s what he was asking, and my answer would be yes. That is pretty much the point I made earlier - only 10% extra is probably not realistic. I’ll pay 10% extra all day to buy American if the quality is as good as or better.

  12. I've seen some of my co-workers in IT do it right and do it wrong. One guy moved from Nashville to Phoenix and stayed with the same company, working remotely and taking a beating for 2 years before he finally got a local job that paid enough to cover the increased cost of living. I saw another co-worker do it smarter. He get hired in Nashville and moved to a cabin in the woods and made a killing on the cost of living change. Another got hired remotely and is paid a lot because he lived in Miami, then he moved to KY. The company tried to cut his pay based on his new cost of living and he said never mind, he'd stay in Miami. A little while later he moved to KY and didn't tell them. LOL He just changed his address in our payroll app and never told HR he moved.

  13. I've only got 2 and they aren't really in Safe Queen condition. The P7 but that's more because parts are hard to get if it breaks and that damn reoccurring nightmare where it doesn't fire when I need it to. And a Taurus PT99-AF because it's the first gun I ever bought and it earned it's life of luxury and oil.

  14. I don’t own a safe queen. I’m an accumulator, not a collector.

  15. Were I selling it, I’d price it high and see what happened. You can always drop the price until it sells. The 19 is definitely in demand, and many people, myself included, would prefer an affordable example they can shoot rather than a new in box revolver they can only sit and look at.

  16. Nothing to be sorry about. That's why I asked. I could have just went with gunbroker values, which are all over the place, and knocked off $200 because I dont have the box and grips lol

  17. I put the latch on there because I had it and speed loaders worked better with it.

  18. It looks a little rough from what I can tell in the pics. Assuming it’s mechanically sound, I’d guess $500-600. Were it in really good condition, I’d double that. I have a pair of them with 4” barrels in similar condition. I paid $300 apiece, but that’s been a while. They are good shooters. Just one man’s opinion. Let’s hear what others say.

  19. Toby and I have had many beers in the garage on summer days and evenings...well, actually, I have had many beers while Toby's music played on the garage stereo. The whole valley gets to hear "Courtesy of the Red, White & Blue" whenever it comes on. Fortunately, the folks in this valley are right-minded. Rest in Peace Toby.

  21. S&W has to compete with Denso, Arconic, Clayton, etc. in the local job market who pay $17-$18/hr for unskilled labor. They're getting away with paying a little less because of the cool factor about building guns. Its only a little more tham fast food pays. That cool factor will wear off for folks and they'll have continuing turnover at the lower levels. Depending on how well their quality control systems are set up, that leads to problems and inefficiencies.

  24. I wonder if it's the work force having no pride I get that they don't want to give 110 percent for 15 bucks an hour but on the other hand the newest entries into the workforce are entitled and lazy Yes I see it every day I told my son a little advice about his job when told me the place was a disaster I said you have to be there for 8 hours make em count and you'll see it will make a difference Don't be like most and just get by be proud be good and you'll always have a job He's seen a few cut loose

  25. This. A thousand times this. I just changed jobs in the trades and had to stand hard on my ask for salary. This is even after the fact that they said they had multiple positions to fill and were running a skeleton crew. I am qualified. I know my worth. I asked 15% higher than they offered and you would have thought my meager salary would bankrupt the company. Took three back and forths of me not budging on my ask. Come to find out the guy in my position before was under qualified and now every dark corner I peek in I’m blown away and puzzled. It’s costing them more for me to fix things right and order replacement parts than if they’d shelled out an extra $4 an hour ($8k a year) in compensation to someone qualified. You’ve got to tip your hat to the costcos, chic-fil-a, darned tough, etc that will hire, train, and hold people accountable to quality control, brand prestige and company values. In return they’ve got a customer for life from me and many others. And I’ll gladly pay the markup knowing it’s made correctly and people are paid a living wage for giving decent labor. The older I get the more I’ll never give a company money who openly hates my values. From a firearm standard if you pay Gallatin TN wages you get Gallatin TN Berettas. If you’ve ever seen the Beretta factory tours in Italy… that’s the reason you’re going to pay more for their higher end products. They invested in their people and retain them.

  26. This is assuming businesses would hire "skilled US workers". Sadly, made in USA doesn't necessarily mean it's made by Bobby and Susie craftsman from our neighborhoods. It'll be the absolute cheapest labor they can get.

  28. Aero factory FDE receivers, BA Hanson 16” barrel with pinned gas block, Troy 15” rail cerakoted Magpul FDE, also has a Schmid two stage trigger in it. Furniture has all been dyed to match B5’s Coyote color. It has a BRT gas tube in it to tame down gas and runs great suppressed. Also has a dual ejector BCG in it from PSA. I put around 75 rounds through it before building a SBR, so no longer need this one. $950 in Columbia

  30. Well I have to give a hard vote for don't sell it. It will only go up in value. Strap it on, go shoot and have some fun.

  31. I don't know if I'm gonna sale it or not. Just got to wondering what it was worth. It's a shooter example for sure but its a 45+ year old gun that wasn't bought to be a safe queen.

  32. Ugh, I knew it was going to be a “what is it worth” question. As @gregintennmentioned to finish looks rough. Obviously, the grips are not original, but neither is the cylinder latch, it is from a a much later model/era.

  40. If I ever got out your way, I’d buy it. Had the near identical rifle in 264 around 33 yrs ago, old house needed work more than I needed an xtra rifle so I sold it. Great action, and caliber as well!

  44. Very small percentage. When it comes right down to it, most don't care and want the cheapest price they can find. Very few will even look to see where something is made.

  46. Why not just go for a CZ P-01 or even the P-07? Those are both a bit lighter than a full size CZ-75. I will also add that a good purpose-built gun belt generally makes heavier guns less of a burden to carry. I'm still a fan of TheBeltMan.net for quality EDC gun belts.
