  1. 1978 Winchester 70 XTR .264 Win Mag with Leupold 3x9 AO and two boxes of factory 140 gr ammo. This was an estate rifle of a good friend of mine. It was used to hunt for more than 40 years and shows the battle scars of the great outdoors to prove it. Not a safe queen, but a great rifle to continue the hunt. $700 This one's gone.

  2. Low single digits at best. All kinds of people would say they support it. But peoples’ budgets are tight. I just don’t think we’d see it at the cash register. That’s not to say you can’t be successful as an American brand. You certainly can. But the quality has to be there - especially at a price premium.

  4. If it is the same quality (assuming both are decent quality), I'm still paying the 10% to help Mary Sue in TN have a job vs. some third grader in Zingzang Factory No. 38.

  5. I just buy what I want/need. I very seldom give any thought to where it was made. I’d rather not buy crap made in China, but that would require a lot more effort than I’m willing to put in it.

  6. I bet a lot of Americans would pay 10% extra. The problem is that American made goods are probably typically much more than 10% extra.

  7. Very small percentage. When it comes right down to it, most don't care and want the cheapest price they can find. Very few will even look to see where something is made.

  9. I am the king of questionable decisions Southwest Iowa wasn't rural enough which, through the power of the internet (Zillow), led me here. 52 acres surrounded by farmland fit the bill nicely. Shooting off the back porch is one of the many simple pleasures.

  10. Thanks for the tip on Belt Mountain pins. I filled out their order form, and apparently they will get back to me. A little unconventional.... But it looks like the solution to my problem.

  11. Hand tools are one example - it's easy to flip over the package and see where it's made. Used to be, there were American made options that were more expensive but still affordable, but now it often comes down to China or sky-high American stuff. Channellock tools are an exception, but some of their stuff is made in Taiwan. Some tools in Lowes, Home Depot, etc are made in Taiwan. I'll take Taiwan made vs. Chinese eight days a week.

  12. I’ll bite. Our generation is quickly being pushed aside and generations younger have an entitlement personality that requires immediate fulfillment. I can’t lay all this at their feet because of the way we have enabled the younger generations.

  14. Picture Gallery Cash is preferred but I also have interest in any .22LR rifles with Unertl scopes, 1903a3’s, Colt ACE .22LR’s (factory), rare/unique .22LR precision rifles especially with threaded barrels. Threaded .22LR pistols that are unique or seldom seen also pique my interest! I’ve updated my photo gallery with a bunch of 1911’s and Colt Pocket Hammers if you’re interested in taking a look! (Considering putting my unfired VZ58, almost new REM 700 sps with threaded barrel & RIA .22TCM up for sale also…LMK if there is interest and I’ll work up some pictures and find the original boxes, mags, etc.. Time is precious so being able to include ammo in the deal makes it much more efficient to sell) RIA .22TCM with new grips and 700 rounds of armscor TCM ammo in 50cal ammo can - not interested in splitting it up at this time. $900.00 reduced $790.00 CZ Tactical Sport in flawless condition - one magazine and box included. This is one superb 9mm! $1,200.00 reduced $1,100.00 reduced $1,000.00 OBO Smith M&P9 with threaded barrel and apex trigger upgrade. Comes with 4 magazines and this was purchased directly from our esteemed David! Excellent condition! $600.00 (great deal considering the upgrades with trigger and barrel) reduced $500 firm. [Including 100 rounds of 9mm range ammo or 20 rounds of defensive ammo like HST - $40.00 value] (the threaded barrell, apex trigger, ammo and extra mags come to almost $300.00 in extra value…shocked this one is still here considering the upgrades) All sales of firearms require a valid State of TN ID and bill of sale. Cash Sale is my preference but I will take Gold as payment and open to very limited trades. (Eotech optics/magnifiers, unity fast mounts, collector firearms…unique .22LR suppressor hosts) Many Blessings, Brian UPDATE2: So great to meet four members from TGO…such a pleasure to do business with you & establish new friendships!

  15. Here’s another try a different way, I had this listed for sale/trade but the deal fell through on this upper so it’s still available. Up for sale here is a new unfired Aero Precison 300 Blackout upper. This isn’t a home brew, it came from Aero. 16” barrel with 1:7” twist and 5R rifling. Standard flash hider on the muzzle with a 12” Aero Quantum free float rail. The pics show a BCG & charging handle but they are not included. I had it listed previously with them with little interest in it, so I’ll keep those 2 parts and list it for a cheaper price to see if someone wants it this way. Priced at $300. Only reason for selling is I have 4 other Blackouts that I shoot and I’ll never really need this upper. Again, BCG & Charging Handle are not included. Priced at $300 and located in Morristown. Will consider trades

  16. Hey all! Here’s my 1921 production Colt 1911. This was made for the civilian market. For its age the pistol is nice and tight. Rifling is great as well. Blueing is worn as to be expected for its age. looking to trade for other wartime 1911s or a M1 Garand/ Carbine or cool lever guns. Thanks and god bless

  17. Up for sale is the Civilian version of S&W's M1917 used by the U.S. Military in WWI and WWII, as evidenced by the S&W Insignia on the left side of the frame and lack of U.S. Army/U.S. Property markings on the butt of the revolver. The gun was originally blued and would have been worth a lot, but someone decided to nickel plate the gun, and gold-wash the cylinder/trigger/hammer and throw away those lovely, beautiful plain walnut grips in favor on plastic burnt oranges one so here we are today haha. Finish is rough with the pitting as seen, but this is a shooter for sure! I have shot about 100 rounds through her so far, she is a lot more accurate than I am. Chambered for the .45 ACP round, can be shot with moon clips or you can just drop the rounds in and shake 'em/poke them out with a pencil. Located in Nashville, TN. $300 dollars takes it. Own a piece of big-bore american history today!! SOLD PENDING MEET

  21. The recall is for specific models and skews. You can see it here. https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2024/02/01/safety-recall-tisas-1911-pistols/ Honestly, he’s probably right. But this puts money in CMP’s pockets. I’d bet more money, they probably need that money. No one here really believes the current administration in the White House and the Defense Department is a friend of the CMP. My guess is they’d love to see the CMP go away.

  23. I’m enjoying these answers while I think about a discussion in the benefactor lounge. I’ll maintain very few people are willing to pay pennies more for anything. I know we are talking about products, but all one has to do is look at the bellyaching anytime fuel or groceries go up. I believe the majority of Americans would balk at the idea of purchasing something at a 10% or higher price point, just to buy American, regardless of the product. People don’t want to pay 10% more put food in their mouths or gas into the automobiles that take them to earn their livelihood. I doubt they’re willing to pay a premium for anything else.

  24. I taught my little girl about the birds and bees with our farm animals. Yes the horse has a big thingy, yes the mare is really swollen now and yes the mare SCREAMED when the foal was birthing. My daughter never looked so horrified/disgusted/scared as when the plecenta plopped out. All natural smells, sounds and visuals. I told her the truth about the guys her age and what they are driven to want. "If you don't want to have a pony, keep yer saddle on." She finished college last year and has had a steady fella for 3 years running. She is in no hurry to make babies as she wants a secure base to start from. I'm so proud of her plus I'm in no rush to be a Grandpa.

  26. Channellock claims their pliers and screwdrivers are 100% American made, while they claim their sockets are made in Taiwan and wrenches are Spanish. I assume they are telling the truth. I started having problems with Craftsman pliers years ago (while they were still supposedly American made) and got a couple Channellocks. I never looked back. All their stuff is affordable (a bit more expensive than the cheap Chinese stuff, but way cheaper than Snap-On etc.). I am no mechanic and use them for basic stuff (screwdrivers/sockets/pliers/wrenches), but they have held up well. I think they fill the role of old-school Craftsman tools.

  27. I like most of what Mike Rowe says. I do make an effort to buy American when it's possible and reasonable. I've been shopping for tires, I'll need 2 vehicle's worth this year and I intend to buy some made in the US. Tirerack.com typically lists country of origin, though I'm not likely to buy from them. We also bought new washer/dryer a couple years ago and paid a little more for made in USA. $100 for jeans or a hoodie is pretty steep in my opinion. Other stuff, a "made in USA" tag will influence my decision.

  28. From a budget perspective, that logic applies. If budget isn't a concern, throwing in a rimfire can along with another, since they are relatively cheap, also makes sense. My first can purchase, I bought 5, including a rimfire can. Buying them in batches, if you have the means, is the way.

  30. I do care about where products are made and I would pay up to 25% more for quality products But they have to be better not junk But America doesn’t produce a lot of products like we use to. China has a hold on the US market for about every item and most people seem fine with it When I need something And have a choice I buy American from Americans. When I have the option support your own buy local if Americans would demand this we could return to a self sufficient country

  31. I have a complex way of buying things and to be completely honest country of origin plays little part in it. If it's an item I'm going to use a lot I buy the best. Single use item, the absolute cheapest I can get by with. Something I will likely own for a while, but not use, middle of the road. I'm seeing some items not even be available in a high quality version anymore. I would currently pay 3X what I'm paying for trailer wiring harnesses for a quality 100% copper harness. I can't find them. The ones that claim to be are copper coated nickel, they are unusable after 2 years or so. Good ones aren't available, ultimately because of people like me that were trying to save a buck.

Be glad to chat with anyone about it. By the way Kano, I do enjoy every day above ground. afterwards, looking forward to Paradice through Him. Come go to church with me. Northfield Blvd Church of Christ, 2091 Pitts Lane, Murfreesboro TN. 37130. They teach nothing but the Bible, God's Holy Word. All you need along with faith in it. Edited to add; Cost nothing, but your life of devotion, above ground!

  36. Take a look at Belt Mountain basepins. Most likely, your crosspin n pin notch has been battered a bit, causing the base pin to back out. I've used a bunch of the belt mountain pins in my hard kicking Blackhawks. They are inexpensive and work like a charm. They use a set screw to hold the pin in. Ya simply can't beat em... leroy...

  40. I feel pretty good for a 84 year old man. Problem is I'm only 62. That said, I have had issues with STM for a few years now, sometimes forget my password when logging back in after lunch. Asked my doctor about it and he was not concerned, told me everyone experiences this as they age. That doesn't comfort me at all. I have enough meds and am working hard at lowering what I have to take. I did read a study recently that showed that using certain scents in the bedroom at night helps with STML. I have respiratory issues that won't allow me to do that but I'm sure you could find the study. There are specific scents and what I got out of it was to rotate them. Good Luck and as others have said, remain as active as possible.
