  1. It will still come down to individual actions. When Covenant happened, we were fortunate to have true courage carry the day. In Uvalde, the officers cared more about their safety both individually and collectively than the children's. I completely understand the very real human instincts there, but they can't be how a police officer acts in a moment of need. All the cool guy tac gear, and weapon modifications don't mean a damn thing unless someone takes the steps and closes in on the threat. Here's hoping the next community in this situation has more of what we saw than what Uvalde saw.

  4. Maybe we get a compromise out of this and they change the law so you don’t have a gun violation, but a trespassing charge if you refuse to leave the business when asked. This way the business still has control over thief property rights, but we don’t get an unreasonable charge if we unintentionally violate the statute.

  7. I had one for a number of years, until some asshole broke into my house and stole it, along with a Browning HP. It outshot every factory 1911 I put it up against. Notice I said factory, not custom. The only thing I did was change the grips out and add a two piece, full length guide rod. I still have the box, in the hopes that one day someone will pawn it or trade it in and it'll show up in a search and I will get it back. Back to the outshooting part, I put it up against a friend's SA with Novak sights. We each took turns shooting both pistols and the Norinco shot better for both of us. I did this with a Colt Series 70 and a Taurus 1911 with the same results with each of those pistols owners. For the $250 I paid for it, it was outstanding pistol!!! I'd love to have it back!

  8. It tells me most government employees suck. There are a few good ones, but they rarely draw attention to themselves. Just reaffirms what I've already witnessed my entire life.

  9. I think that is essentially what the bill accomplishes as written. I would rather see resources and attention spent on this instead of, or at least before long gun carry. This needs to be in place BEFORE long gun carry is ever passed. After permitless carry passed, gunbuster signs went up all over the place. If long gun carry is passed and gangsters start strutting around Wal-Mart with AKs, I expect a BUNCH of businesses will post and the “removal of the offense” ship will have sailed forever.

  10. I have one. Not much to look at, but completely reliable and combat accurate. Good gun. Norincos were used as a base for many very nice custom guns because they were so cheap. Yeah, the steel is very hard. I've also heard the old railroad track rumors. I've also heard that if the custom job included any mill work that the gunsmith would add the cost of a new cutter bit as the steel would ruin the one he used. I originally bought mine with the idea of customizing it. But then it occurred to me that there aren't many box stock Norinco 1911s left out there. So I left it alone. Buy it and be sure to post pictures.

  15. I have an excellent long range rifle and scope for sale. I am barely an average shot and can easily hit consistently at 1000 yards with this setup. Rifle has less than 250 rounds through it. I have the Bergara rifle bag as well as the boxes for the rifle and scope. It also included 2 x 5 round mags. I added their muzzle break which does help with recoil. The scope was on a Leopuld mount with rings and that comes with it. I added another scope mount setup that has a 20moa angle so you have more range out at 1000+ yards. This is included as well. Bergara HMR Pro $1,799 MSRP Bergara Bag $70 MSRP Bergara Muzzle Brake $179 Vortex Viper PST $1,499 MSRP Together $3,919 MSRP (including the ammo mentioned below). In addition to the rifle and scope, I have 9 boxes of 140 gn Hornady Match ELD ammo, 2 boxes of 143 gn Hornady ELD-X ammo, and 1 box of 120 gn Hornady Match ELD ammo. The cheapest I can find this ammo anywhere is $31/box. I will include all 12 boxes of ammo with the rifle. $372 current market value in ammo included in rifle bundle. Rifle, scope, ammo and all accessories for $2,100. Dropped price to $2,000 OBO. FTF Transaction in Murfreesboro. No shipping or trades on this one.

  21. If I may suggest something that might help before you go to that trouble. I'm 6' 7" and have long arms and as a result have a bit of difficulty with the length of pull on many standard rifles. Like you, I just "scrunch" up a bit and deal with it, but on one of my Winchester target .22 rifles, I purchased a rubber butt stock cover that added just a touch of length but it was enough to make the shooting much more pleasurable for me. Granted, they are often used to absorb shock from larger caliber rifles and that is not needed here, but the length added was just what the doctor ordered. Here is a photo of my Winchester 75....

  22. Interested. I used to compete in USPSA matches in Louisiana on occasion Kay Clark his daughter and Jerry Miculek would show up and show us how it’s done, super nice folks. Interested, couple questions. What barrel did he use? Full length guide rod? And can you get a couple good shots of feed ramp and breech face? Nicholas

  24. Just using it as an example. replace drugs with... hunting, driving a car, setting up a tent. whatever. Anything that might encroach on your rights as a property owner. That's my real point. Where is the line drawn between your rights and the owners?
    1 point
  25. Well, most folks can use (drugs and accohol) and wander around a public place or private businesses. The only laws against it are public intoxication laws. It is not against the law to be high (other than public intoxication) just possession of the drugs. Being on drugs is not enough to be charged with possession. I see (smell) folks high on pot everywhere.

  26. forgot to add; if I leave my firearm and patronize a business unarmed, how many are willing and able to provide for my defense? I have always wanted to ask owners of no firearms notices how they plan for my safety and if they are ready to take on that responsibility. I remember when the law allowing businesses to ban carry was proposed, the language had security and metal detectors in there. can't recall the exact wording now. those who feel unsafe around armed populace should realize that most of us are better with a handgun than are most LEO. Not throwing shade at any officers, but firearms training and use is secondary to what most see as their job. When I was in the military, I would come in just under the max time during PT tests, push ups, sit ups and running two miles were low on my list of needed skills. Firearms qualification was always expert, since I not only felt it necessary to my survival but fun.

  27. I agree in theory. But consider this, does the business owner have the right to refuse service? We have decades of civil rights decisions that say no. I agree with Stan, if they don't want my money it's their loss.

  28. I’ve owned 2 over the years. Both were reliable and accurate.I’ve heard the story of how hard the steel is but never gave much credence to it until I wanted John Harrison to mill the slide on one and install his sights and he declined but at the same time both Wilson and Clark were working on them and doing packages.I suspect it’s urban/internet myth.

  29. I had one several years ago. It was an awesome 1911, it was as reliable as my Colt Combat Commander. I was talked into trading it in for a Glock 20 and I regretted it from the get go. I would buy it back if I could. Interesting 2nd hand story about them: back when Lakewood was a city, the Chief of Police supposedly carried one that he had tricked out for competition and was very accurate and successful with it. May not be true, I don’t know, but I do know the one I had was both reliable and as accurate as my Commander.

  31. I may have already posted this sometime in the 13+ years this thread has been around but here goes. I have a Hi Standard .22 pistol I bought in 1969, I left it with my Father when I moved off to a communist state after college expecting to only work there a few years to pad my resume and ended up staying because I liked the job. 30+ years later I finally got around to getting a carry permit which was required to own a hand gun in that state and brought the Hi Standard home. I left it with 2 loaded magazines and my Dad never shot it and I got it back that way. Shot fine. I, like several on here, leave my magazines loaded in the safe, including .22.

  32. These threads can appear to get out there no doubt Should we be prepared? Of course we should always be prepared I was checking out at the store the other day Guy in front of me couldn't get his damn card to work seemed like 5-10 minutes finally they get that s*** working I get up to register and I tell the young lady behind it and that's why you carry cash She responds I never carry cash So quick and easy story is this I said let's say You've got $10,000 in the bank and you're comfortable with that and the fact that you think you can always access it with your card to get whatever you need anytime day or night Let's just say you go to bed one night and the internal revenue service decides you futzed up your tax return and you now owe them $9995 and accordingly they remove that from your account because they have that ability they have that ability today Of course it's a mistake not trying to explain that s*** to them firing off letters phone calls it'd be months before you saw your money but in the meantime you didn't have any cash anywhere you put your faith in the system as you were taught in school to do I said so now what? Do yourself a favor keep some cash nearby always doesn't have to be $10,000 but you do have to keep some cash for just such an occasion She said you know my parents never taught me that I said to her I'm not surprised regardless always plan ahead Make it a part of the way you operate Canned goods yeah get you a bunch why not they got a fairly long shelf life and you just keep them rotated Water I always keep some water maybe not as much as I should but I do you never know You're always getting letters in the mail blah blah blah your water failed a test etc People don't prepare for anything so if you mention preparing they get scared they think you're nuts I think it's more nuts the fact we've gotten away from self-reliance

  36. I purchased my Henry Brass Big Boy before they came out with the side gate model. The one I have loads through the under brl tube feeder. It is also a 38/357 with the Brass chamber and octagon barrel. We have shot the snot out of that thing. Everyone who fires it can't sit it down. When I get it out, 200 rounds will be through it in no time. My grandchildren always want to get it out when they come in. I paid 765.00 for it new years ago. I have really enjoyed that rifle. Just something about Lever Guns. Seen a SSS Rossie at Outpost Armory a while back and if I had not purchased another revolver, at that time, I would have purchased the Rossie. I believe it was under 1,000.00.

  38. I have had experience with the 22Mag rifle. We had cows and calves on a rented farm close to town. Dogs were killing and chewing off ears and tails diminishing their value. The farm caretaker told my father-in-law that he would call him when the dog pack came back to give the cows chase. We arrived, on this morning, 7 dogs, from the local neighborhood, were out early and had a just born calf down working it over. Our plan was for me to come at them from the roadside and FIL and Caretaker come in for the other. They opened up, with shotguns, on the pack and a very large Red Bone Coon Hound came running up the hill toward me. The dogs were in a small valley. When the hound seen me that thing came at me with gusto. I believe the dog would have attacked me the way he looked. As he loped up the hill, I leveled a scoped Marlin 22 Mag rifle and I decided to shoot him in the head. As I pulled the trigger his head came up and my shot hit the dog just under his head and struck him square in the chest. the dog dropped at my feet stone dead. As I looked at the 120-pound Hound that rifle had cleaned his body and blown his insides out his butt. I mean he was cleaned just like looking thru a stovepipe. I was amazed what that little rifle did to that dog. Much more powerful than a regular 22LR. We got 5 of the 7 dogs, 2 little ones got away, and never lost another calf. That bunch had killed 4 calves and chewed up 7 costing my FIL a bunch of money. That was 35 years ago. I am a 22 Mag fan. Have a scoped Marlin bolt action in my safe. It is a tack driver. My grandson has spoken for it when I let it go.

  40. Correct Garufa. "Media" reported that 5 Uvalde Officers were disciplined already. Feds Report stated the shooter fired 72 total rounds while on scene, and the officers heard many of the shots as the shooter fired at will, but Police didn't go in to confront the shooter. Report said while the Chief was on the scene no one stepped up and displayed any leadership in that situation. This report is from Federal DOJ, I believe, and the culmination of a year-long investigation done by Prs Biden's boys. Makes me wonder what will happen to that Police Department and City. My guess a lot of lawsuits from families of those involved. The residents are shouting loudly, on TV, and rightly so. Their Police Dept totally let them down. I know it would be hard to take if we had someone involved. Metro handled the Covenant School really well. Kudo's to those 4 Metro officers that went in at Covenant. Now they were "hero warriors", IMO guys. They never hesitated but took care of business. The shooter was firing at officers in the parking lot while the 4 officers hunted her down and neutralized the threat. That school acted/performed well also. Hope the next school or church is as prepared! Evil is out there, even in our own communities. Most stick their heads in the sand, so to speak, and simply will not, or can't accept that it can happen where they are. Boggles my mind. Constantly praying I don't run into evil, ever. Don't know about you guys, but if I ever am forced to, I pray God will help me to do the right thing and also my best to protect mine and me. If that chaps some people, I am sorry for that. May God help us all where evil is concerned.
