Finally shot a doe a few minutes ago for meat. I didn’t take a pic. It looks like every other doe. I shot it with a 93 Spanish Mauser I bought for $30 years ago. One shot and dead right there.4 points

Happy New Year! An Irish Blessing: "May your mornings bring joy and your evenings bring peace. May your troubles grow few as your Irish blessings increase. May the saddest day of your future be no worse than the happiest day of your past. May your hands be forever clasped in friendship and your hearts joined forever in love. Your lives are very special, and God has touched you in many ways. May his blessings rest upon you and fill all your coming days.”2 points

Class act. Growing up Cale, Richard Petty and David Pearson were my heroes. I got to meet them at an event in Daytona Beach. I was an even bigger fan after that. They signed everything I had. Talked to me like I was there best friend. Left an impression that will never be forgotten. Heroes that were bigger in person than in my imagination. RIP Cale.2 points

I assume others saw the Garmin chronograph announcement a few months ago, but I haven't seen a thread on this forum about it. Maybe someone will see this who was unaware or had ignored threads on other sites. I started to order one back in October but decided to wait for some additional end user results, and throughout the past few months reviews have been glowing. I finally ordered one last week, had it in hand in two days, and have made a couple of range trips to test it out. Everything you may have read online is legit - this chronograph is ridiculously easy to use and flat out works with no hassle. I've tested multiple rifle and pistol loads now and as long as the Gamin is pointed roughly in line with the shooting direction it will capture the shot. The unit is GoPro size so highly portable, and with the ease of setup (point in the general direction of fire, press a couple of buttons to power on and start a session) I intend to have this with me on every range trip going forward. It will be fantastic to capture velocity changes as outside temperatures fluctuate through the seasons. Previously I only chronographed loads at initial workup due to the hassle of setting up a traditional chrono so am missing lots of data that will now be easily available with this Garmin. It's not cheap, but neither are any of the other options. It will be interesting to see how and if Garmin evolves this chronograph but this first iteration is a winner so far. https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/7711641 point

This is the first vehicle I ever bought when I moved to the States. 4" Rough Country lift kit, K&N cool air induction kit, Edge pro tuner. Alternator & A/C pump are less than a year old, serpentine belt, vacuum pump & water pump replaced in 2020. Leaks a little oil from the cylinder bases, but it's done that since the day I bought it in 2009. Driving daily, I get through maybe a gallon a month. It's got a Leer (I think) high camper shell fitted & I hope you like it, because I silicone sealed the ba$tard thing on there! I've spent more nights in the thing than I can remember. The locks & sliding windows work & don't leak. LED headlights & discreet spots & obviously a 2" tow hitch (I'll throw in a couple of 8" drop hitches) Mismatched spare tire with 1642 miles on it (I tore out a sidewall on a sagebrush stump the day I was coming home from Wyoming in 2018) Armstrong tires installed & I reckon there another 10k left in 'em. Transmission was completely rebuilt in 2013. I bought it with 90,000 on it & it's just turned 360,000. She's only ever let me down once, when the serpentine belt snapped on a holiday weekend in Topeka, KS. Other than that, the old girl has performed flawlessly & taken me from Mexico to the Canadia, Carolina to California with zero complaints or issues. The interior is well worn, ragged & tatty, but I will replace all duct tape before she sells. It's got a few whisky-blisters to the body & most of the clear coat is gone from the roof & hood, but other than the drivers side nerf bar, zero rust. Everything that's supposed to work, does & does well. Average interstate mileage at 70-74mph is 21mpg. Round town is about 16. She doesn't smoke, cough or splutter, but she absolutely DOES need to be plugged in overnight when the temperatures hits freezing. If it's cold, there's a puff of smoke at start up & that's it. A/C & heat both work as they should. Twin fuel tanks & the crossover switch DOES work! I replaced it a few years ago & it's been trouble free since then. Diesel has always been treated with Howes during cold weather. Oil & filter get changed about 3 times a year & all the work has been done by one guy here in Tullahoma, who I'm very, very happy to refer you to for inspection or verification. She'd make an amazing truck for anyone who understands that things need preventative maintenance & heated seats ain't everything. She's noisy, rattles & probably smells a bit inside. She's hauled livestock, dead critters, construction supplies, gravel, manure & just about anything else you can fit in an 8'x4' box. I would absolutely, 100% trust her to take me literally anywhere in the US, right this minute. I'm only selling to replace a portion of the cash I spent buying a newer, middle aged guy friendly truck. Honestly, if I could afford to keep the old thing, I absolutely would. In the last 15 years, I've spent more time with this truck than most folks spend with their wives. If you buy her, expect to see me tear up as you drive away...... $8,000 will drive it away today. If I pay to have her detailed, polished, cleaned up & name brand duct tape used on the interior; $10,000 I'm sorry, I'm not accepting offers. I know it sounds like a lot for an old banger, but seriously; shop around. These things are desirable & extremely well thought of.1 point

This is an all PSA built (not home built) gun. 11.5 inch nitride chrome lined barrel. Has SB tactical brace (now covered under nation wide injunction). Has I believe a Bushnell red dot, not fancy, but functional and holds zero. Has a flashlight and mount, again, nothing fancy, but functional. This is a low round count rifle. As you can see it has been painted. I can leave it, remove the paint, or go over it in one color, what ever your preference. Will include one magazine. $5501 point

Congrats. I got skunked last weekend out in Waverly. Plenty of drags and tracks across the cornfield. Picked the coldest weekend of the year to sit in a blind and birdwatch. Don’t know if I’ll make it out again this season but happy for everyone’s success.1 point

Not directing the below at you @Darrell, you just highlighted why this is a problem which was quote worthy. Not sure if you're inclined to agree with my solutions or not. Our country has avenues for a free market solution to incentivize these players. But they seem to be the last ones anyone wants money to flow down to. Coaches get bonuses for making bowl games, sometimes tiered by what kind of bowl. Kirby Smart got an extra $175k for his this year. You mentioned all the revenue coming in from tickets, sponsors, and I'll add networks and gambling apps. The bowls and networks can allocate some cash to pay for those on the roster at a given bowl game and some on top for winners to give the players something worth trying for. Right now players get some "gifts" that are really trinkets and shiny distractions. They make quick Christmas shopping for players from poor backgrounds who want to send something home to Mama and family, but it's not a lot when you realize how much money is out there. I all but reject the inevitable "scholarship, room, and board is their pay" argument since being in college is almost perfunctory as a checkbox at this point, but I get it. Here's something to consider, though....bowl season isn't part of the academic calendar. Match up their tuition to what's actually done during semesters and you've got everything but bowl season inside times classes are being run. Spring semester covers conditioning program and spring ball. Summer semester covers training camp. Fall semester covers the regular season. There is a financial solution to this. And especially with gambling money out there now, there are enough stakeholders who should want to make these non CFP bowl games watchable and betable events throug financial incentives to the athletes who actually perform in them.1 point

I know you already decided, but here's my thoughts anyway The CZ is going to be better suited to putting a lot of rounds through than a BHP design. I'm personally not the biggest fan of CZ-75 pattern guns but they are more flexible and customizable than BHPs. And I think you can get a much better trigger with far less trouble on a CZ. That said, I have a SA 35 and it's a quite nice modernized take on the BHP with a trigger that is approaching decent and a set of sights and a safety that are welcome upgrades over the traditional BHP parts.1 point

ACW Alchemy Prime Elite Carry 9MM Commander. Blued, 9MM, gold bead front sight. This is a $3,800 gun with a wait time Picked this up in September from another member. Put about 400 rounds through it in 4 range trips. It shoots perfectly, zero issues. Trigger is crisp and reset is short. It has never been holstered. I’m just shooting my Nighthawk more and kind of forgot about this one. As noted in the original ad, the original owner added a standard mainspring housing to convert it to a Prime Carry (no magwell), which is included. I’ve never installed it. The slide stop, firing pin stop, and magwell were refinished to match the gun better. The magwell and firing pin stop look great. The slide stop is pretty good, although not perfect. Some wear on the base of the grip safety, which is the original finish. I’d personally shoot it a whole bunch more before even considering a refinish. I scratched the original recoil spring plug in a disassembly snafu. I replaced it with a blued Wilson Combat. Both are included. Pictures don’t do the bluing justice and I find myself continuing to chase lint, oil, and fingerprints as I’m taking photos. Included: Pistol, 2 mags, Standard MSH, Original recoil spring plug, Bag, wrench $2500 local pickup. If you’re in east/west, TN, I’ll ship on your dime. Must be 21+ and willing to flash proof of being a TN resident. I am not looking for trades. original ad: https://www.1911addicts.com/threads/withdrawn-alchemy-prime-elite-carry-9mm.210405/#post-30943321 point

I think it's very relevant. Fans pay big bucks to go to the games... hotels, transportation, tickets, food, etc. They deserve to see the teams that earned the trip. Sponsors pay millions of dollars to advertise during the games, money that ultimately comes from the consumers' pockets. If I pay for a box of primers, I don't expect half of them to be missing when I open it up. Even Georgia's players were cheated by that game. They had something to prove, but their effort will be discounted because of the lack of competition. Mind you, I understand why top players might opt out of a non-CFP bowl game, but all those opt-outs are very relevant to the quality of the game that the fans see, and in which the players participate.1 point

Another fine Sunday Morning beside my wife in the best state in the Union. So glad we moved here, where this breakfast scene is not shocking, but encouraging to our neighbors. Grateful for this kind and knowledgeable TGO community, too. God help us in the coming year... and let's be there to help each other.1 point

Well..... I was for sure a red dot hater. Just didn't see the reason and refused to try them (on a pistol). Recently, I tried one and I really like it. I'm not sure about putting one on my daily carry (not yet anyway) but on my bigger range pistol that we run drills with and I guess would be a competition style setup, I am getting to where I really like the dot. Further distance shots for sure the dot shines. The first round, I'm still working on but this has been easier than I expected. At first, it was not easy at all but some dry fire draws and working on grip helped quite a lot. Transitions seem to be not bad, I do have to work on movement and representation but it is coming together well. A couple of things I've noticed are... 1. The dot allows me to shoot with both eyes open, something I've never been able to do with irons. 2. My old eyes & contacts do better with the dot now. Self defense ranges (7 yards-ish) ehh, will probably be more pointing than aiming anyway.1 point

There are only 5 rules to plumbing - but I’ve added a 6th to my personal rules. If I have to break a piece of pipe to fix something a 1/4 ball valve is going inline. You cannot have too many shutoff valves.1 point

FYI. After the debacle at On Target, Hermitage...I was resigned to no close range for me. My mobility issues make it difficult for an outdoor range, and GlockSport is totally out of the question for me. Didn't want a long drive either. Just recently a friend told me of Range USA. So I went out to Goodletsville to check them out. Very impressed with the building and the people. Gun stock seems pretty good to me. Ammo is fair. It's the cleanest, best smelling range I've ever been in! No fancy gimmicks on the range. Just electric trolley and an RSO. Like the latter. The people I've taalked with are personable, knowledgable, and friendly. Store manager...Job(Pronounced Jobe) also is a veteran....is great. Although very busy, he took the time to walk me thru everything. Memberships run on monthy charges with CC or Debit card. Varying levels and privilages. I like what I saw. But after being burnt at OT, I waited until last week to sign in. As I said, I'm happy with them, at least for now. So I can honestly say I'd recomment them for the East Nashville to Hendersonville people looking for a place.1 point

I was impressed with Firearms Pharmacy as a customer. Bought an old S&W revolver on consignment at a good price. Enjoyed talking with the salesman, he said he was hoping to get more pre owned guns on the shelves. I didn’t ask but with that name I assume they are also a gunsmith shop?1 point
