  1. Another fine Sunday Morning beside my wife in the best state in the Union. So glad we moved here, where this breakfast scene is not shocking, but encouraging to our neighbors. Grateful for this kind and knowledgeable TGO community, too. God help us in the coming year... and let's be there to help each other.

  6. As much as a 1911 45 acp lover that I am, would go for the 9mm CZ. Short barrel 45's just don't get the velocity to expand properly. Yeah, the 45 is more energy, but would rather have the faster moving 9mm projectile which seems to expand more reliably. And heresy of heresies, I feel more comfortably carrying a pistol with the decocker as opposed to a "cocked and locked" 1911.

  9. This is my experience exactly. At one time I was carrying a M&Pc, then went to a full size M&P. That was fine and I really like the gun. Then I retired and was carrying most of the time and as time went on it got heavier and heavier. I got out my Kel Tec PF9 and now that is about all I carry all day every day. As much as I liked the M&P it got to be a hindrance to having one on me.

  17. Country music is far from dead, the good stuff just isn't played on the radio, and save for maybe Chris Stapleton and Jamie Johnson I don't want to hear anything on "Country" radio. There is a boatload of great independent artists just like this one, but you have to seek them out. They refuse to play the Music Row game so the big labels won't sign them. Yes, they are harder to learn about, but you hear their music and not the "country radio" BS.

  20. I've been through way too many "Panic Buying" "Hair on fire" media hyped periods to get caught up in this type of thing. That said I joined Target Sports earlier this year after talking with my regular shooting buddy about it. We shoot together at least twice a week and both of us have been at it for decades. We both handload the majority of rounds we shoot sans .22LR of course. As reloading components have suffered not only inflationary increases but also competition demands in acquiring (we are already have seen 100% increase in the price of most powders and even more so in primers). We too advantage of the Target Sports membership fee of $95.00/year (only I joined, he reciprocate next year) which has shipping included (they do charge tax). We've purchased enough 9mm and .22LR to way more than offset the initial $95.00 fee. And that 9mm usually runs at $0.24/round delivered (that's with tax included), but Black Friday saw it at $0.22/rd delivered. Now that's not the $0.20/rd of 2019...but it's not 2019 and that's the reality of it. Also with this membership I have ordered as little as 2 boxes of different make 12g slugs (sighting in the RDS on my Shockwave) or 2 different boxes of 9mm (New Republic and Geco) just to check them out, and they ship UPS with just the listed 8% discount price. My Point? I want to save my primers and powder I purchased before COVID for loading my .38/.357 and .32 S&W Long or .32 H&R mag. I realize 9mm is currently the most ubiquitous handgun caliber (and the one I shoot the most) but I have been shooting a lot of .38 spl and .32 S&W long the past couple of years. I could not afford to do that purchasing factory ammo. FWIW My carry ammo is Factory, usually Federal HST purchased in bulk a few years back. I wouldn't hesitate to carry my handloads if that's all I had. I'm unaware of the ammo used being a significant issue in the outcome of a lawful self defense shooting...but that's not my wheelhouse. We'll continue to see price creep in everything in our lives. Panic Buying hurts us all in the "gun culture". Unfortunately it's a cycle that just keeps repeating itself. No harm in prudent targeted purchasing though imho. Just my $0.2 worth...

  21. I've carried a variety of pistols started with one of the original S&W mp 40, then a Kimber custom tle 2 45, sheild 45, now I carry mostly a HK vp9 with a delta point on it. The correct holster and position make all the difference. The sheild was the easiest by far to carry and conceal, but after talking with brothers I trust, just not enough rounds available when needed. But the best carry is the one you will carry all the time, and it's different for all. Good luck.

  22. My advice comes from the perspective of a guy that carries everywhere, all the time. If you pick something that’s big or heavy, most likely, you are going to get to a point that you’ll quit carrying, because of the size or weight. The bigger the pistol, the more it tends to print and the more self conscious you’ll be. If it’s heavy and you don’t invest in the right belt and holster combo, then you are not going to want to carry, cause it will pull on your pants and you’ll be uncomfortable and go around tugging on them. Make sure that you’ll be comfortable carrying which ever pistol you pick.

  27. Class act. Growing up Cale, Richard Petty and David Pearson were my heroes. I got to meet them at an event in Daytona Beach. I was an even bigger fan after that. They signed everything I had. Talked to me like I was there best friend. Left an impression that will never be forgotten. Heroes that were bigger in person than in my imagination. RIP Cale.

  31. Game animals belong to all of us, policed by the State. So I do see a need for them to enforce game laws on private property. But I do have an issue with them giving tickets when no law was broken. Unless there are clear violations, then there should be no ticket, warnings maybe, if there is a perceived violation, but until a game law is broken there should be no citations.

  36. Keep in mind the EMP is Springfield's proprietary downsized frame. While some 1911 parts are interchangeable, some aren't. That said, I'd still probably pick it over the CZ. I've owned a bunch of CZ 75 variants and have come to the conclusion they just don't work for me, so I'm done trying. Just my personal opinion and experience. I'd really rather have a M&P or Walther with a RDS installed over either, for carry.

  38. Same here. I was actually thinking about selling some, until I remembered it’s an election year. My family and friends will come looking for me around the middle of summer. Same. I did a temporary move a year and a half ago. I’m still trying to determine where to spend my latter years. I have the ammo and safes squared away, but I still haven’t unpacked all of my accessories. They’re overwhelming my workspace off the garage. I don’t even want to look at that pile of tubs and backpacks.

  39. Give Kimber customer service a call. I don’t know if yours is under warranty or not, but I have had some very good experiences dealing with them. Under warranty or not, one of their techs can help you out. Be sure to call them and not email them. Good luck.

  40. Here’s my thought process when something breaks… I can fix it. I can probably fix it. Can I really fix it? How much can I save by fixing it? How much can I screw up by attempting to fix it? Is me fixing it going to require a trip to the emergency room? By answering these questions, I can determine whether I need to call a professional. I usually make the right decision…sometimes.

  41. I'm a reformed Glock apologist. Used to be all I would shoot, and I really bought into the "perfection" gimmick. I got away from Glocks primarily and moved into the 1911/2011 scene. But I still kept my Glocks. I've had Gen 3 and Gen 4 19s and I've owned 2 Daggers and shot 3 others that were owned by friends. Some say the trigger is not as good as a Glock, personally I think its better. Glock has long been regarded as one of the worst triggers in the industry. I used to get a blister on my trigger finger from my finger rubbing on the inside of the trigger guard, I don't get that with the hinged design of the PSA trigger. The Dagger also fixed some of the issues Glock had with the 17 and 19 locking blocks not being interchangeable, removed finger groves, added frame cuts for mag extraction (and did a better job of it than Glock did on Gen 5), undercut the frame, and put better texturing on the side. Ultimately, I sold my 19s and kept my Daggers. They offered better options at half the price of the Glock. I could literally sell one of my 19s and buy 2 Daggers, moreover, I could get Daggers with whatever sights I wanted, whatever slide cuts I wanted, and optics ready, I couldn't do that with a Glock. I pieced both of my Daggers together when the various parts were on sale and I was able to put each together around $250.

  42. Actually if anyone knows levers really well I could use some assistance. As far as I know this rifle is a relatively rare version of a 92? No top safety neither the bolt nor the dial one. Serial is stamped on the side rather than under the lever like I have seen on other 92's. The rare part I am thinking here is the barrel itself is half octagon half round. Serial starts with AM, but I have heard that the serials do not mean much. Posting pictures in the hope that someone might be of assistance. I'll also post the pistols here, no identification needed on these I have identified them, since I think someone who can date the 92 would appreciate some the pistols. And for those that were interested I am planning to grab a membership and list the guns once I have quality photos of all of them. links because file size was far too large https://imgur.com/a/mwe0nSm

  43. I put up a couple of shelves and a wall hanging display for some of my knives that I have. On the top shelf is two wodden magnetic knife blocks that hold some of my straight blades that GrandTrino made me and the other one has some I had made from another knife maker on another forum I belong to, I've got a few more knives to put up, and change some things around some more. I still have to put up some more shelves for all my Turkey Calls I have in my collection.
