My youngest is 39....I think... so Christmas has lost that glimmer compared to when they were little. We buy gifts for the grandkids (not inexpensive by any stretch of the imagination) but it's all good. The missus and I don't exchange gifts as we get most of what we want whenever we please. I'm home alone this Christmas as the missus went to help out with her daughter after surgery and will stay there for Christmas and get her fill of the four grandkids. She sounds ready to come home. I'm not suffering here at home since I have three pups to make me laugh and Die Hard in the que. I'll be happy to get her home since I couldn't ask for a better partner. I'll fire up the TV tomorrow for Die hard and have a Jack and Coke and play with the pups. Life is good. After all I just can't get upset with what Christmas has become as I'm doing my best to lead a stress free life. Merry Christmas everyone.8 points

We probably overdo the presents in my family, but like Lumber Jack I sort of revel in my eight-year-old's excitement. (This may be her last year of all the Santa stuff.) Anyway, this week my daughter has been too keyed up to fall asleep, so we read aloud at bedtime. This week we've read chapters 2 & 3 of Luke over several nights and we talk about it - what's a census, what's the heavenly host, etc. For me it's the privilege of a lifetime. I'm happy, blessed, and grateful. Wishing all the same to you guys. Merry Christmas!2 points

I put an Apex trigger in one of these and test fired it afterward. Due to the grip shape, it was one of the most uncomfortable pistols I've shot in a long time. The flare at the bottom of the frontstrap plus the rather square edge of the trigger guard along with the unnecessary hump under the middle finger all combined to make several hot spots. The slide serrations on this one are fine enough that they would be of little use were your hands slick or muddy. The optic plate on it was plastic and I was not able to tighten it down sufficiently to keep it, and the Crimson Trace optic, from visibly moving, but this seems like something you could avoid with a different optic plate. Reliability was OK as was accuracy, but nothing impressive. On the plus side, they're cheap, I guess.2 points

Just ordered the CZ75-some crazy good deals on CZ’s right now. Thanks for everyone’s input.2 points

I have both and prefer the Dagger. The trigger is not as good as some but not so much as to bother me. The grip feels much better to me than the Glock.2 points

Is it as good as a Gen3? I would say it is a Gen 3 with a slightly different grip. It has some of the mods people like to make to the Glock. Like mag pull cutouts, grip smoothing, slide melting, etc. It uses Gen 3 parts so you can mod it as much as a Glock. If you were to blind test them side to side, I think you'd prefer the Dagger. Once your know what it is, the brand bias tends to kick in. It's a reminder how cheap the Glock is to manufacturer and still make a good markup.2 points

Up for sale is a brand new Lewis Machine and Tool 12.5" MRP-H (AR10) MLOK upper receiver (part number LM308BML1). No optics or barrel have been installed. The upper has the ejection port cover installed, but otherwise this can be considered a "stripped" upper. No BCG, charging handle or barrel included. Item is located in Mount Juliet TN. I'm willing to drive into/around the Nashville area to meet F2F or will ship after Paypal, Venmo payment. Buyer pays for shipping. Asking $1000900 but open to serious offers.1 point

SOLD! HK P7M13 comes with 3 magazines and wood grips. I bought this in 2000 in Knoxville when the range on Lovell Road was Guncrafter. According to online research one of the importers refinished these in hard chrome. I'm asking $2500. I will entertain offers. I am willing to trade for a Marlin 1895 Trapper in 45-70.1 point

Am I the only one that gets more anxiety than joy this time of year? Every year we spend ridiculous amounts of money buying presents for other people. This year we're even buying presents for my wife's family that hasn't come to see us since 2015. My wife drives to see them in Ohio 1-2 times/year. Christmas is supposed to be about spending time with people and instead has turned into a spending binge. Something tells me Jesus would not have cared for rampant consumerism. Someone help me be less of a Grinch.1 point

One of my favorite stupid movies, so stupid I try to watch it every couple of years on Prime and a few other place. Bubba Ho-tep Bubba Ho-tep tells the "true" story of what really did become of Elvis Presley. We find Elvis as an elderly resident in an East Texas rest home, who switched identities with an Elvis impersonator years before his "death," then missed his chance to switch back. He must team up with JFK and fight an ancient Egyptian mummy for the souls of their fellow residents. Bruce Campbell -Elvis Presley Ossie Davis - John F. "Jack" Kennedy https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0281686/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_5_nm_3_q_Bubba%20Ho-t1 point

I'd go with the CZ75 in all steel. It's a classic and it's design has been used all over the world , cloned , and copied. Parts are extremely easy to find.1 point

What exactly is this "after Christmas money" you write about? Whisper1 point

Both are excellent pistols! Can't really go wrong with either. For me, I have medium sized hands, and I found the Safety on the CZ-75 hard to manipulate. But it was a supremely accurate pistol! I've never owned a SA35, but I have owned a Browning Hi-Power and it was the Goldilocks of single action autos for me! It fit just right!!! Sadly that pistol was stolen in a burglary (hope the bastard that stole it is burning in hell). I have handled the Girsan MC35 recently and it felt like an old friend. It's running about 2 or 300 hundred less that the SA35. But it is made in Turkey and some may not like that. Price wise, in the Knoxville area, you will generally spend about the same amount for either the CZ-75 or the SA35 (if you can find one).1 point

My kids are teens now (or close enough) so the Santa stuff is over. So now, there's very little to look forward to. They are still pretty grateful, but they don't want toys and stuff anymore. Now it's money or some... oddball thing that doesn't really make sense to me. TBH, I'll be glad when it's over. I should be enjoying life since i'm out of work but instead i just have the dread of shopping, traffic, crazy people and the inevitable return to work. I guess this is mid-life? Lord help me.1 point

I have 3 kids age 5, 3, and 1. To see the joy and excitement for them as the build up to Christmas is fun, I’m not gonna lie. But for me I completely get anxiety about buying gifts for sisters and brothers in law etc. not because of money really but just the idea that we have to buy a gift to represent some form of love? How about we just exhange heartfelt “I love you’s” and have a drink? I’d love to reserve the gift giving for children but alas no one listens to me. My wife and I probably Huy too much for Christmas but we really do try to keep it moderate as it can be overwhelming for small children plus we want to set an example that we “don’t get everything”. Now my mother in law who had excessive amounts of discretional funds is another story. She buys so much ..ish that the kids are tired before all the presents are unwrapped. That gives me the same anxiety they @Erik88 is feeling I’m sure. Just unadulterated consumerism. But it’s tough to get it reeled in. At the end of the day we teach our kids about the true meaning of Christmas and as they get older we’ll strive to drive it home more as they’re ability to grasp the concept grows. Until then I hope Nana saves the Reciepts because 75% of the ..ish is going back where it came from.1 point

Hard stop for me when they pulled corn pudding from the menu a while back. It's just really expensive bbq these days. And not great bbq at that.1 point

I dread it every year. It is the occasion to gather with people you are thankful you don't have to gather with the rest of the year.1 point

I can't help you Erik. Can't help you at all. Because I've been feeling the exact same way as you for many years now.1 point

While patrolling, I was checking on a church that got torn up. Their church van was blown over . I got to looking and some crack head had took advantage of this storm damage to cut off the catalytic converters. Unreal how low thiefs are. Really low down scum.0 points
