I picked this poor thing up a couple of months ago. Hy Hunter Frontier Six Shooter in .22LR. According to the internet, these were actually made by J.P. Sauer & Sohn in West Germany and imported during the 1960s under the Hy Hunter name in Hollywood. CA. This poor thing was a mess when I got it. The barrel was loose, the firing pin was about to fall out and there was an occasional hitch in the action. Plus the grips were completely wrong for this gun. I really don't know how they managed to stay on. And on top of all that, the finish was very badly worn. But it seemed to have good bones and I only gave $30 for it. This is what I started with: The mechanical issues were fairly easy to fix. I found a set of close grips on the internet, but had to fit them some. The problem was in the finish. As near as I could tell, most of this gun is made of Zamak or a similar alloy. So finish options were limited. I decided to go with Brownell's Alumahyde II. Its a spray on, paint like, finish made specifically for alloy guns. I took the gun completely apart, sanded the parts and sprayed the individual pieces. The instructions said it dries to the touch in 1-2 hours, BUT needs 1-2 weeks to cure completely. Of course I tried to rush it and messed up a piece. I re-did that one and then gave the finish the full two weeks to cure completely. Got it all back together and I think it came out pretty good. I took it to the range today. I fired a little over 100 rounds of 7 different types of ammo. It ain't no tack driver, but its minute of tin can with ammo it likes. Not too shabby for a decrepit old man and those tiny fixed sights. All told, I have right at $80 in it. I think it was worth it.6 points

I’m not looking for an agenda in the movie. I hope others aren’t either. I’m simply hoping to enjoy what looks to be an exciting action movie. It’s sad people deprive themselves of small pleasures because of political affiliations. Must be stressful being them.4 points

Christensen Mesa 300WM 24 inch barrel with seamless break Christensen Scope Rings Zeiss Conquest V4 3-12x56 Ducks Unlimited Logo on Bolt Handle and Floor Plate. Rifle has only ever been shot off a bench for the purpose of being zero'd at 200 yards and becoming familiar with the rifle. Rifle has been shot approximately 80 times. This rifle is extremely accurate and an absolute blast to shoot. The only reason for this sale is I have another rifle in the same caliber now with greater sentimental value. I will include 60 rounds of 180 grain soft point ammo which is what the gun is currently zero'd with. The rifle comes as seen in the pictures with case, and all owner manuals. You will be hard pressed to find any wear on this firearm. 1600 , I have no interest in breaking the package a part. Open for trade for either a 338 RUM or CZ550 Safari 416 Rigby, or VX6HD4-24 with Firedot Duplex.3 points

I'd determine a price and post them here. If they don't sell, then try plan b. There are some good folks to deal with on this forum, and bring much less drama than other places you could sell. I still haven't figured out why everything interesting ends up in Memphis though. They need to move it closer to middle Tennessee.3 points

I don’t know anything about her, but I rarely turn on the TV and keep up with actors even less. I’ll watch it sooner or later and if the agenda if too in-your-face, I’ll turn it off. It wouldn’t be the first time. On the other hand, if it starred Susan Sarandon, Alec Baldwin, and Rosie O’Donnell, I wouldn’t even turn it on.3 points

Looks like about 90% of the story will be total BS. But it also looks like it'll be a good action flick. I'll watch it. If your into the whole America divided scenario, I highly recommend the Kelly Turnbull series of books by Kurt Schlichter.2 points

More craft sale leftovers. Four of these are locally cut cedar planks but there is one store bought pressed wood and aluminum sign in the mix (darker wood and white welcome). The shorter boards are around 40" tall, the two taller ones around 52". We also have four extra cedar planks that have not been decorated yet, and my wife can decorate however you would want. Two are around 3' and the other two are around 4' tall - these are not pictured. Asking $20 each picked up in Columbia. I am labeling these as picture 1 (2 boards) and picture 2 (3 boards), start left to right 1-2 and 3-5 if you want to claim a number.1 point

Leftovers from a recent craft sale my wife had, figured would list here and see if can get rid of a few more. 7 snowmen made from locally cut cedar logs. No screws used, wooden dowels inserted/glued into each piece, and sealed with polyurethane. The snowmen are all around 20" tall. Asking $20 each picked up in the Columbia area. I am labeling these as picture 1 (3 snowmen) and picture 2 (4 snowmen), start left to right 1-3 and 4-7 if you want to claim a number.1 point

SOLD Bought this from a member here a while back, just selling to fund another gun I don't need. Sons of Liberty Gun Works 12.5", this is the Sage Dynamics Edition upper and the Stripes lower. SOLGW BCG, Radian Raptor CH, Radian bolt catch, LaRue MBT-2S trigger, Surefire muzzle device, SBA3 brace, BUIS, Holosun 403 green dot. I don't think it was shot much at all before I got it, I've put about 300 rounds through it. SOLD1 point

Exactly this. Folks want the courts to come in instantly and be super-legislators and fix everything to the way they think it should be. Thats not how they work, and thankfully so.1 point

I think we ended up settling the grudge based on a not really identifying the goal in the first place lol This rifle is very much a sub MOA semi auto. Then the grudge shifted to "well it wont ever be as accurate as a bolt gun." and the rifle was tuned and tweaked and cleaned up even more. But my point was never to say it was going to be better than a bench designated bolt action. The average of a 3 shot group at it's best was half inch or so. I pulled it out of the safe a few weeks ago and rapped off a .655 ,.675, .685 which I am happy with. The gun is really as accurate as the person. I have killed a lot of coyotes with this rifle and thats what I ended up really enjoying most about it.1 point

This is a gem. Of all the SKS out there, this is the one to have as an actual shooter due to the “M” taking AK mags. I’ve had many SKS over the years and this is a fine example from a great seller. GLWS1 point

The sad part is that this looks like it could be a really good movie and before the current era we wouldn’t have been concerned about whatever political agenda they’re likely to ham-fistedly beat us over the head with it.1 point

Gun shops will take as much as 50% of the sale for consignment firearms. They will also offer you as little as 40%~50% of the real value if you want to just sell a collection or individual pieces to them. They will mark them up significantly to either maximize their profit or leave them room to mark down if the item is slow to move off the shelf. They do not want stagnant inventory. There are fewer and fewer shops that wish to deal in used guns, especially older used guns, these days. That is especially true of the bigger and flashier stores. Your best bet is to find a knowledgeable family friend that can help value the items and assist with selling them. I have done this for two estates. I assigned a value to the items, highlighted some of the rarer or more valuable items they might wish to keep in the family, made fair offers on a few items I wanted to keep myself, and helped them sell the remainder to more distant relatives that were not beneficiaries in the estate. In one of those situations the friend gave me one of the items I had made an offer on as thanks for my help. In the other I bought two of the items at a discount and was treated to a nice steak dinner as thanks for the help. I did not expect any of it since I was just helping friends out but it was appreciated. Just be on the lookout for "friends" that want to take advantage of the situation by either under valuing or skimming off the choice pieces. Take a full inventory of serial numbers, brands, and models engraved on the items prior to having outsiders look at the collection. I recommend keeping a spreadsheet of the items no matter how you decide to handle the collection. Update the spread sheet with values or dispositions as they happen but at least you are starting with a full list of the serial numbers and have something to look back at if there are issues that pop up months down the road.1 point

I'm an old 70/80s rock guy so don't listen to her but I admire the hell out of her business acumen. The team she has built to help handle her business empire is impressive. Dive in and research how they do things. I respect that. What she has done to regain control of her music is genius. Now I could care less about her personal life as I do with all "stars". They don't influence my beliefs or values in any way.1 point

First Pop Pop let me thank you for your service to this country. One of my brother-in-laws was on his 2nd tour in Nam during the Tet offensive. I have been the chairman of our safety team at church for 3 years and have just turned it over to a younger retired THP. We have about 30 camera's inside and out, we lock the doors about 10 after the services start, they have panic bars and people can always exit safely. Someone mans the camera's and 1 more team member armed in the foyer. If somebody wants in we have to allow them in unless they shoot the doors out, at that time it is going to get real ugly really fast. There are generally 175 people in attendance and at least 15-20 people with cc firearms, at least 2 women carry. I pray regularly that we never have to use a tool to defend our congregation, but we will if forced to. This isn't the world we grew up in guys and gals. Drug addicts will shoot you for the pocket change you have. I think Bersaguy told the story where a neighbor was attacked while cutting his grass, that is why you always keep your tool on your person and your head on a swivel. Sometimes it is just convenient to rob and or shoot the old guy cutting his grass, maybe get his keys and steal his truck while we're at it. Stay safe, pray always!!1 point

I just went and read about the Sutherland Springs Church of Christ in Texas. That was a very terrible day for sure. The shooter picked the day that the Pastor which normally is there and armed was not there. I'm sure the pastor would have been out gunned but maybe just the fact that the shooter was receiving incoming hot lead may have discouraged him. No one will ever know but I think anyone that is going to be in body armor to go shoot up a Church is afraid of being shot to begin with so incoming hot lead may have made a difference.....JMHO!1 point

Sir. As stated you are welcome to your opinion. I am just down the road from you in a medium size church. We have an established security team, and as recently as Nov 19 we had to intervene in a domestic dispute and kept a child from being taken. I too trust the Lord. But he has given some of us the ability and desire to protect his house. And I for one believe in the ABC’s ( Always Be Caring) I hope and pray every day that I do not have to intervene in a situation, but I also train regularly just in case1 point

Forty years ago, the wife and I were among 150 spirit-filled worshippers in a service when a "disturbed" young man entered and capped an ex-girlfriend who had recently given her heart to the Lord. An off-duty police officer jumped over two pews to wrestle the man to the floor and disarm him. We later learned that the perp had planned to shoot the pastor as well, but he had not yet entered the sanctuary. The woman died later at the hospital. This horrific act was thought to be unthinkable until recent years, but Jesus told His disciples two millennia ago that the devil comes "to steal, to kill and to destroy." Forewarned should be forearmed. I contemplated not carrying a gun because of my Christian belief until I read that Jesus, as He was being arrested the night before His crucifixion, told Peter to put his sword "in its place." He did not tell his disciple to get rid of his weapon for good. Self-defense is a God-given grace to us mortals to protect ourselves, the weak and the innocent. It has its place in our chaotic society more today than perhaps as it was then. We are living in perilous times when any atrocity is possible. In our peaceful community, I carry pepper gel into church rather than my sidearm, but recently the pastor announced a meeting to discuss safety and first-aid situations. I'm sure he will be looking for a few good men.1 point
