God feeds me as well as protects me. He gave me the ability to go get food, however. He doesn’t simply lay it on the table every day. Just something to ponder.6 points

Odds are I won’t burn up in a house fire, but that doesn’t stop me from installing smoke alarms and having fire extinguishers scattered about the house. You do you. Just something to think about.5 points

ERay, you are entitled to your opinion. Let me share with you my thoughts on this subject. Jesus told the Apostles to buy a sword. (Luke 22:35-38) Anyone can read it for yourself in your Bible. In (Luke 9:3) earlier in the book of Luke, Jesus told the apostles He would take care of them, as he sent them out, and they acknowledged that fact He did take care of them in (Lk 22:35). And He said to them, "When I sent you out without a purse and bag and sandals, you did not lack anything, did you?" And they said "No, nothing." Then in the very next verse(36) He(Jesus) said to them, "But now, let him who has a purse take it along, likewise also a bag, and let him who has no sword sell his robe and buy one."(verse 38) "and they said, "Lord, Look, here are 2 swords." And He said to them, "It is enough." Why would Jesus do this? Because he knew he was to be crucified, therefore He would not be bodily present to provide for them. I am totally not trying to be a smart butt, or disparage you in any way, but it seems to me if Jesus was not going to be able to provide necessities (including safety) for the apostles, what makes one think that He will do it for you? I mean we are talking safety here, or Jesus would not have told them to purchase a sword. Swords, when close, punch holes. Guns do it from up close or from a distance. They both are offensive weapons and can be used for self-defense. If I get harmed, while in church, and perhaps even die, I too have confidence God will take care of my soul thru my faith in His Son Jesus the Christ. On the other hand, my wife and children are going to be without their husband and father. My church will be without a servant intent on doing good. If I can help it, I am not going to let them loose me, if I can prevent it. I am a God-fearing man and trying to do a good job of serving in Jesus Kingdom here on earth. These are my thought, eRay. I will go as far to say I like the fact that some are concealed carrying at my church. And do pray that, if evil invades, God will guide them to protect all of us. Google the video from Sotherland Springs Church of Christ in Texas. You can see what their safety team did in real time. Edited to add content.4 points

Well.... I said I wouldn't do it again... but here we are. Had and sold one of these a quite while back and regretted it. Managed to find another one and lo and behold I'm doing it again. But that's the life of a man with limited funds and the desire to always try something new, but enough of the chatter. Limited Volunteer Edition Beretta 92G Brigadier, new in the box and unfired outside of factory. testing. Most folks on here know the backstory, if not you can find my previous sale thread $1100 takes it. Since I'm bound to get the question.... trades. Highly unlikely that I would accept trades on this one unless they were heavily in my favor. A nice commander or officer size 1911 by Dan Wesson, Ed Brown or similar would make me think long and hard about it. Feel free to post here or PM me with any other questions.2 points

From the article: “It is a public health crisis right now,” Waller told Channel 12 News. “If you remember many decades ago, there were a lot more vehicle deaths. […] That was resolved because people said, you know, we don’t want to take your cars, but we want to show you how to safely drive them and how to be a safe car owner. Re-read Nehemiah. Paraphrased: And so we prayed for protection (first), and posted a watch day and night (second) against this threat. Yes, trust in God. And provide for your own welfare and the welfare of those entrusted to you. The two actions are not mutually exclusive.2 points

I assume you're talking about a Charter Arms Bulldog? iirc that's the handgun used by David Berkowitz, the Son of Sam killer. Back in the late 80's-early 90's I had and carried a Charter .44 spl Bulldog Pug. Horrible Trigger but remarkably shootable lightweight gun. It was inexpensive and I was broke, so there's that. I "shot it to death" in around 2000 rounds, but over several years. More modern manufacturing and metallurgy should yield a more durable revolver in essentially the same size package. I still have the gun and it's parts in a ziplock bag, Might try and get it running again...but might not2 points

CNC machining and synthetic stocks have made all rifles accurate. Everything is straighter, squarer, and to finer tolerances than the old stuff. The older handmade stuff is far more beautiful. It just ain't necessarily more accurate. Pick out the one ya like, they all work very well. leroy...2 points

Ladies and Gentlemen!! Hear ye, hear ye… 2023 is kicking my butt. At first, I was selling off items from my collection because of the annoyance of some medical bills from a broken leg, surgery, and PT... and twin girls getting braces this coming Spring. BUT LAST FRIDAY... a drunk/drugged driver - unlicensed and uninsured - came across 4 lanes of highway and hit me head-on. I am fine, all of the safety systems in the car worked, airbags deployed, the car crumpled and took most of the energy. Amazingly, I was not hurt - chalk up 1 for the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L I was driving. But I suspect my car is a total loss, and now I am going to have to replace that once my insurance company gets around to their determination. I am not looking for your sympathy… no… I am looking for your money. LOL. But NOT charity! The charity is coming from my end on where I am with some of this stuff. I have had these listed individually, but I figured why not throw up a comprehensive list. I reduced the price on several of these previously, and have dropped more now. This is bottom-out pricing, I have no more blood left to give. I cannot accept trades of any kind (unless you own a car dealership and want to talk about this as a down payment on a new SUV or truck. LOL). I am borrowing a car at the moment - I do not have the ability to travel outside of Knoxville. Check back on this list… I may add to this as I contemplate what I can live without, or need to add. RIFLES Briefcase Breakdown AR Rifle - Remember in the movie Pulp Fiction where every time someone opens the briefcase, the light shines up in their face? It's kind of like that when you open it... Breakdown AR Rifle with TWO barrels, 5.56 and 300 Black-Out. Carbon Fiber handguard, very lightweight. Breaks down into the briefcase as pictured below. $2800. Mosin Nagant M91/30 – 7.62x54R – Nice Mosin with beautiful dark reddish stain PLUS a 440 round spam cam of 7.62x54R ammo. I will even throw in a can opener with it, because I am such a swell guy. $800 Winchester Model 94 AE Lever Action Rifle with scope, chambered in .307 Win. Beautiful checkered walnut stock. The research I did puts the serial number at around 1988-1990 production. Simms Pro Hunter 2-7x32 scope mounted. Will include 40 rounds of mixed ammo with it. $1400. Look up sales of this rifle on Gunbroker or anywhere else. This is a steal, and a heart breaker, as this is a really nice rifle my father left for me. I just don't get time to hunt. **** I have an additional 18 boxes of Winchester .307 Win ammo, 1 box of 150 gr, 17 boxes of 180 gr. I will give the buyer of the rifle first option to buy some or all of it. Then I will open it up to an open sale if they don't take it. HANDGUNS Sig Sauer P220 Elite Platinum - .45 ACP. From the Sig custom shop, this is the Platinum Elite model with aluminum grips, adjustable rear sight, night sights, two-tone frame and slide, 2 magazines - I bought as a collector piece, I have never fired it. $1300 Springfield Defender 1911 - .45 ACP. This is a cool piece. This is a commander sized 1911 that was modified as a race gun by one of the gunsmiths at Guncraft when they were in Knoxville in the 90s. Adjustable rear sight, Chip McCormack internals, compensator, extended slide bolt, trigger work, 4 magazines. Shoots like butter. $800 Ruger Super Blackhawk - Magnaport Customs "Predator"- .44 Magnum, 4 5/8" barrel, stainless. This model has compensator ports cut into the top of the barrel, a crowned barrel, adjustable rear sight, high-vis front sight, velvet hone finish. $1300 ACCESSORIES/PARTS – Can ship for actual cost of shipping. Meprolight Tru-Dot Tritium Night Sights for Glock 9mm, 40sw, 357 sig & 45 GAP pistols. Green front/Green rear. $80 Truglo Brite Site Tritium/Fiber Optic Night Sights for Glock 9mm, 40sw, 357 sig & 45 GAP pistols. Green front/Green rear. $100 1911 Custom Wood Grips. 1 set in Bubinga wood (lighter color, African Rosewood), 1 set in Wenge wood (darker, native to Africa and Guinea). I had a friend who hand-made these in Knoxville and was selling them in local gun shops back in the 90s. Beautiful work. $70 per set.1 point

Why does 80/90% of the people, of the world, just think they will never be in harm's way. I watched the T V news last week and saw the Muslims/Palestinian's pull up and jump out of a car, at a bus stop with many people waiting, and open fire with pistols killing and injuring, and no one had any way of defense. I mean just about everyone in their area are out to kill them. We don't face the problems the Jews do, but we still have a slight/mediocre. chance here in the U S/TN. How does people not see the risk and prepare themselves as best as they can. It just blows my mind! Like sheep being led to slaughter, so-to-speak. Last week I was drafted to be one of the security guys, at my present church where I attend. I am going to be in the regular rotation now. About 14 years ago, I started a "Safety Team," consisting of 17 volunteers, at the previous church I/we attended. I have become a little more mature, and driving at night is harder so we changed to a church much closer to where I live. Instead of driving 45 minutes we drive 8 minutes now. Big help for me with night driving. I call it my church, but in fact it is one body of the Lord's church here on earth. The team I started had to deal with several serious disturbances over the 14 years I was there. The church I am attending now already had a team, so they learned my history, and I got drafted. As I sit there in the entrance, behind locked doors, I pondered what I had seen earlier on the TV News how those Jews were just sitting ducks and wondered why they have not prepared, if they could. I prayed to God to keep us safe, and prayed I would never need to use my tools in any situation, however if I needed too, I would have the ability. I just amazes me!!!! I guess warriors are in short supply now.1 point

I don't go anyplace out side my house that I am not armed. Back before I moved out here to the sticks and lived in Gallatin. I had neighbors that got robbed at gunpoint or knife point while grilling their family supper and another while cutting his lawn. These things took place in broad daylight. I went to my mail box once and had a car with 3 people in it come to an almost stop and I lifted my shirt to reach for my gun and the car sped off. This was about 1 PM in the day. If I go shopping and pick out a store to shop in, if they have a gun buster sign up I shop elsewhere. If they don't want my gun I don't want to give them my money. Now as for Church I use to attend a church 1 block from my house and many times I would walk on nice days with my gun concealed. That Church is now 44 miles away so I don't attend Church any longer. I did hear on the news the other night that all religious places of Worship need to be on high alert right now as they are targets with what is going on in Israel and the Christmas holidays. The said places of all faiths are targets but Jewish and Muslim are on highest alert.1 point

First world problems. Do what makes you feel good and justify it however you want. I'm with Garufu, I'm not worried one bit about being in some shootout everywhere I go. That doesn't mean be oblivious, it just means I am a believer in when it's my time it's my time. Enjoy life, don't worry about every damn thing, including the highly unlikely chances you are going to be shot at church.1 point

I don't think it's just about a church shooting though. I'm on our church's safety team and recently a handgun was discovered in a diaper bag. My experience with firearms let me handle it carefully and make it safe until the parent could get a talking to. I get your feelings about carrying at church though 100%. I struggled with it. This is the house of the Lord right? The decision was made pretty easy for me though. I'm a wall flower and after about 7 years of attending my church, i knew about 3-4 people. One day i got introduced to one of the safety team folks. After talking for a few minutes, he asked if I would be interested in serving. After saying yes, suddenly i started being drawn into being a recognized face. I talk to more people, they talk to me. I've started attending mens groups, bible studies and i'm even an usher now. The handgun is just there. Lord willing, i'll never need it.1 point

The left routinely uses the slim likelihood of needing a gun to defend yourself or others as a reason why nobody should be allowed to have guns at all. I didn't let those statistics WHETHER I chose to carry a gun so, I don't see why statistics would affect my decision WHERE I carry.1 point

the dot and open sights do exactly the same thing....they simply tell you where your muzzle is pointed. I would argue the dot does that quicker and more accurately. If one is having trouble 'finding the dot' , it is generally a fault of grip.1 point

I go to a small to medium size church and we don't have an official security team. Quite a few of us carry at church and discuss/plan/accept that unofficial role. I like it better that way to be honest...just a knowing wink and a nod is all it takes.1 point

I agree. I don’t like crowds. Anywhere at any time. Sad to see this is what is needed these days. It is what it is now. I am starting to see signs more and more about no firearms being allowed in businesses. I refuse to give up a right under our constitution to attend, shop, dine, or anything! My Doctors office in Lenoir City has one of these signs up now. In the same small city that just a few weeks ago, an idiot walks into Walmart and pops off 8-10 rounds in the air with his rifle. Thankfully no one was injured or hurt. After having a serious talk with my Dr, it seems that her insurance company required it. Although I understand why she had to install this sign, it still means that I will have a different doctors office the next time I’m in need. Do NOT sacrifice your rights for anything. Church, Dr office, or grocery store. You may be the guy/gals who stops evil from attacking your community. Heads on a swivel guys.1 point

Church is the last place id be unarmed! I dont like crowds for many reasons, but one of the reasons is lack of security. Seems to me that large venues and especially churches are/will be targeted. We just started going to a local church this past Sunday. I don't know yet if they have a security team, but I did see some guys around that COULD have filled that role. If we decide to make this our new church home, I'll learn more, and if i see a need, offer my assistance. If not, I'll still be armed.1 point

The dot allows you to do things that you cannot do nearly as easily with irons. The dot does not have to be centered in the window...meaning that no matter where the dot is , if you can see it on the target that is where the bullet will impact. So you are able to aim from contorted positions where it might not be possible to get both the front and rear sight aligned with the eye. The dot also allows for more precise aiming at distant or small targets. And it also allows for focusing on the target and "noticing the dot" instead of focusing on the front sight and noticing the target and the rear sight. It means your focus can remain on the target and you have eliminated one of the 3 focal points (rear sight) from your aiming consideration. And finally the dot allows people who are far sighted (as many people become as they get older) to see the dot even if they cannot see (or see a fuzzy ) front sight. Now do you NEED a dot? No and we can make an argument that inside 5 yards you don't even need SIGHTS at all if your grip, trigger press, and presentation of the pistol are good. But the dot allows you to easily engage targets at distance that would be "iffy " with irons.1 point

I had at least one dog in my life since age 6 and most of them were or are rescue dogs. The last 2 where some type of terriers which 1 of them I had for 18 years and she was rescued by me from a big wild yellow Tomcat that had stole her from a litter somewhere and was going to make a meal of it until a 22lr ended that. Animal control had been trying to trap it without success so when I had the chance I took it and I thought it had a rat but it turned out to be a newborn puppy that I ended up bottle feeding and buying doggie milk at 10 bucks a can which the Vet set me up with all the stuff I needed. I had animal control come out and collect the dead cat and all their cage traps they had set around my house. The guy thanked me for killing the cat as he was getting complaints from everyone in the neighborhood about it. I named her Kasey and I had her for 18 years and lost her to heart failure. It was like losing a Child and I still have her on top of my TV console. I had her cremated and placed in an urn. About 3 months a friend of mine brought a dog to me that could have been Kasey's sister in appearance and he had to find a home for her because he was moving and the new place didn't allow pets. Her name was Darby and I took her in. I only had her about 3 years and lost her to kidney Failure and I have her on my TV console also. Now for present time I have a best friend name Rosie and my daughter was doing Home Health Care and one of her patients was a breeder of Basset Hounds and she had a 5 year old that she could no longer breed and was going to have her put down and my daughter sent me a picture of her and I told her to get her so she told the woman that her father was Rosie so they made arrangements to get her to me. I still have her and she is now almost 8 years old and spoiled rotten.1 point

Thank you all for sharing the pics of your pups! Just a quick post before I head in to work a bit. Good on you @A.J. Holst ! Awesome helper you’ve got. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Boo before and can confidently say she is a “Good Girl”, but I would not want to get on her bad-side. My pups, 2 sets of Pekingese (Bastian & Lil then Buckley & Grace) over a 25 year period are in Heaven guarding my Bride. But I know Rhonda has her hands full with them! Entitled little devils but they gave us a lot of love in their time. (My son just sent this pic to me after I told him about my vicarious living through it). Thanks again to all! The little guy is Poe. He’s resting on his sister Nala. Nala is a squirrel killer. Poe couldn’t be bothered with such.1 point

Don't mess with Mama, they don't like that. Timmy is 140lbs of attitude, he knows what you tell him, he just decides if and when he will do it. Matilda is 3 years old, covid dog, she sleeps between us. Venus is a big round ball of chicken. the pic of her laying with Matilda is because she couldn't get out of the corner.1 point

You can spend more and buy a prettier, better feeling rifle, but it won’t likely be any more accurate than a cheap Savage.1 point
-
I did, in fact, buy a .243 rifle, but I bought a Ruger #1 instead of the Savage. Heck, it was only about a thousand dollars more! I like the rifle, though, and have put about 20 rounds through it in the nine or so months I've owned it. I now have four Ruger #1 rifles, so I suppose I should admit that I really like them.,1 point
