  1. I looked and there are a few threads about a member's dog(s) here and there, but I was surprised that we don't have ONE big thread of all the doggos on TGO. So, let's fix that. ^^^ This is Tiberias, or Tigh for short. Yeah Tigh is spelled weird but I'm also a Battlestar Galactica nerd and fans of the show will recall that the XO of the Galactica was named Tigh. Anyway, he's a pure bred German Shepherd Dog and currently 4-months old. He was a rescue and we were fortunate to be called this past Monday and asked if we wanted to come get him. And yes, we most certainly did. Tigh is proving himself to be the goodest boy possible. Super loving, super loyal, and also already very protective of his new house and his new pack. We're thrilled to have him. So, so me your dogs!

  2. This is Shadow, aka the galloping goober. 100lbs of dumb. He'll be 4 on Valentines day. His dad is a black lab and mom is a boutique big terrier. Their owners (friends from kids' school) didn't think mom was old enough yet and went on vacation. He has 12 siblings.

  5. This is Ginger. She's a rescue so not sure of her breed but in her mind she is a Doberman. Lol. She's had surgery on both knees, one eye removed and surgery on her other eye. But she's worth every dime as she is the best dog I've ever had. Great thread.

  6. Our Husky turned 14 last week. She's a strange dog that typically disappears most of the day rather than hang out with us.

  8. This ole boy has been gone several years now. My wife had a hard time with it. She’s still not ready to get another one. I’m not sure she ever will be. He was a once in a lifetime friend.

  9. There are other societal enforcement mechanisms, then the law/violence. Just because we don’t believe something should be a crime, doesn’t mean that we think it is something people should do. Shame, condemnation, and exclusion from community are all reasonable methods of ensuring that respect for societal norms is maintained. Do I think it should be illegal to carry a loaded long arm on one’s person? Absolutely not. Do I want people just wandering around with the rifles on their back? No. I don’t think that’s good either.

  11. This guy is Derek Winn, it was not Voldemort. Idiot set back gains made toward resetting the law to the original intent, was grandstanding and attention seeking in my view.

  12. This was our 120 pound lab. The wife said no dog in the house and absolutely not on the furniture, yet here he is. He passed at only 3 years old from cancer. It's been a a couple of years, but still not ready to replace him, he was a good one.

  13. I would not carry mine displayed, but you can bet your bippy if I go through Memphis, I have mine with me. I challenge anyone to show me a law in Tennessee from 1796 till 1989 that said it was unlawful to carry a rifle or a shotgun loaded. (there are plenty about handguns, pocket pistols, pistols, knives of all sorts, brass knuckles, sling shots, clubs etc. but nowhere is a rifle or shotgun mentioned as a prohibited item. You have to understand the conjunctive test set forth in Heller and upheld in Caetano (where 200,000 stun guns in use was allowed by SCOTUS as enough to put that type of weapon "in common use" to satisfy the Heller requirement), that for a weapon to be denied the citizen for self defense, it has to be dangerous AND unusual. With 24.4 million AR 15s in the hands of the general public, that meets the criteria of "in common use". In 1871 the Supreme Court of Tennessee said this: “[W]e would hold, that the rifle of all descriptions, the shot gun, the musket, and repeater, are such arms; and that under the Constitution the right to keep such arms, cannot be infringed or forbidden by the Legislature.” Andrews v. State, 50 Tenn. 165, 179–80 (1871) Did this tool act inconsiderately, yes, but I can promise, there are 42 states that would have found the action of carrying a rifle non-criminal if it was not used to threaten anyone. I think he carried a pistol version because he knew he could not be arrested for that, I am of the opinion it was a photo-op to harm the quest for a return to the intent of the founding principals in Tennessee.

  20. Oh man. I can relate to that. We had two of our dogs pass away within weeks of each about 6 years ago and it really left a mark. We've had a few more since then, but this guy is the first I've really let myself get emotionally attached to. Go ahead and post pictures of your Shih Tzus if you have any. There's nothing wrong with remembering past pets here!

  22. I am asking this with genuine curiosity, not stirring the pot. What good is it for it to be legal to carry an AR pistol if even us pro-2A folks don't want people to carry them? I'm accusing myself of this same thinking. I'd NEVER carry an AR pistol around for all the same reasons above. BUT, I'm also ashamed of myself for not doing so if the reason is that I might scare the lib-tards.

  27. I'm sure it's been said a million times before, but I carry for protection, not conversation. If i felt like like i needed to carry an AR just to go downtown.... I'm just not gonna go downtown. The primary things I want to avoid: Having an anti-gunner accost me for carrying, possibly becoming escalated Getting stopped by the police. With my luck, I'll get jittery Jim with the itchy trigger finger Being targeted as the "shoot me first" guy by some criminal Getting sued frivolously. Because, even if it's legal, any misstep could make you lose. Either way, you're tied up in court with your finances damaged Now, all that being said. This is me. This guy rolled his dice and it worked out.

  32. But now leftist media is melting down because they think he was walking around with an “assault weapon.” It’s not clear if he was too close to a school, but he otherwise did nothing illegal. However, he is getting more attention than those who actually shot someone and were released without bail.

  34. Buying a gun safe was the hardest thing for me to do. I knew I needed one, but very hard for me to spend the money. Know what you are going thru! I also purchased a Cannon Gun Safe from TSC years ago. They do not deliver so you would need to get it to your house. Sometimes they put them on sale. My Cannon holds 42 guns, so they say. I think they called it a "Fat Boy" at the time. I have a friend that purchased the biggest safe TSC has around the same time I purchased the one I have 20 years ago. Ours have served us well. It cost 1/3 what a Liberty safe cost at that time. I got mine on a special sale. I checked out the Safe House in Nashville, and also D T McCall's in Carthage. Purchased form TSC. Good luck on your find, TSG. Edited to add; I think my safe weighed 500 pounds. We moved it in the house strapped on a 2 wheeled dolly. It is 60" tall, 24" deep, and 40" wide. I picked it up on an 8'x12' lawn mower trailer and we rolled it off on the dolly and into the house. Was not a large job. The safe House delivers for a small fee. I have been well satisfied with the Cannon.

  37. I don't currently but will. I was lucky enough to pick up 6-8 boxes of Hornady Superperformance for $25/box when I first bought it and have snagged random boxes of CoreLokts and Orange/White boxed Winchesters for cheap from time to time. But yes, could easily become my favorite rifle quickly.
