Your heart is in the right place, and you aren't wrong about a whole bunch of people carrying who have no business around a gun. But required training is all fine and good until the required amount of training is 500 classroom hours and 10,000 rounds on target in some obscure caliber that is unobtanium. Basically, I don't want some jack wagon politician to have the ability to decide what level of training is adequate for me to carry a gun, and to be able to bastardize those standards to make it overly difficult.7 points

If there truly were that many idiots running around causing problems for everyone simply because they lacked mandatory firearms training than we would certainly be hearing about it and the TN legislators would certainly be trying to saddle us with it. I’m 100% in agreement that responsible gun owners should get training, just like I think everyone should stay out of debt, workout most days, and quit drinking, but I certainly don’t think any of that should be mandated. It’s a very slippery slope whenever we encourage the Govt to mandate something in the public “best interest” as they get a taste for it and don’t know where to stop.6 points

There is more need for drivers training than handgun training IMO, and driving is a privilege that can have legislation put in place to force the training without violating the constitution.5 points

Having a gun permit would be an advantage in court if you had to defend yourself.5 points

With rights come responsibilities. You have the right to own a gun. You have a responsibility to learn how to properly use it and learn the laws about carrying it. Getting the permit proves that you are a responsible gun owner with at least some training. This could prove helpful if you ever have to deal with LE or the court system.4 points

Hey TGOers, Putting up for sale one of the most EXCITING, unique, mind blowing guns available ever! Alright, its a 642... lol. Purchased new, only owner, about 500 rounds through it and it's been 100%. Usually I'd put all sorts of details and cool features but... I mean... yall know. Only selling because my wife insists on buying christmas presents for the kids... (selfish...) Asking $400, or best REASONABLE offer, cash only, ftf in or around Mt. Juliet, no trades, HCP flash, prefer at least some legitimate feedback in your profile. Thanks! -V2 points

Jury that heard all the evidence said not guilty (other than discharging a weapon in a bldg, or whatever exact wording was on that); I'm going to agree with the jury. They got to look people in the eye as they testified. They got a chance to hear & feel what was real & what was B.S. I'm going to trust they got it right in this case. The real lesson here is to stop & think of an alternative level of force or way to avoid continued confrontation should one find themselves in a similar quandry. If all you have is a hammer, things start to look like nails that maybe aren't nails. Another lesson, this one for the social media 'whores' that will do anything for clicks and views: Actions have consequences - quit screwing with people & save yourself from inevitable consequences.2 points

One cannot legally carry in any park in TN without permit. If an employee of a post secondary school in TN one must have the ECP to do so with other stipulations as well. It is against Federal law to be in a school zone or on school property without a permit. Plus the benefit of out of state carry as noted. Possible informal benefits when dealing with LEO, SD shooting, etc.2 points

Photog bags are like bugout bags and hiking packs. People get one that's way too big then think they need to fill it up. It ends up so dang heavy that you're exhausted after the first mile. Depends a lot on what you plan to do, but a body, 2 lenses, flash, and pocket or two for cards batteries, and tools is probably enough.1 point

Hey TGOers, Last one for sale today! No bad jokes this time... if you've seen my other posts today, you've had enough, lol. This is a lever action that I purchased with a cracked stock (pictured) new from Bass Pro (5% discount... Bass is truly a bastion of generosity). I repaired the stock and it is solid. I could sand/refinish to make the crack disappear but I haven't felt the need to, just wanted to mention it. Otherwise the rifle is perfect, very nice weight, smooth action, sights are dead on, fun as all hell, tube fed (15 rounds I think...). Could part with some .22LR if needed for an additional price. Asking $250, cash only, ftf in or around Mt. Juliet, no trades. Thanks, -V1 point

Hey TGOers, Back again with another mind blowing collector's piece... truly priceless stuff here (yes, I think I'm funny). Ok it's a Heritage Rough Rider. Nothing remarkable, purchased new, probably less than 100 rds through it, strongly prefer it to my Ruger Wrangler (which was twice the price). If you know what it is then you know what it is. For everyone else its a great six shot, single action, .22 LR revolver, fun, accurate enough, well maintained. Asking $120, pretty firm on price, cash only, ftf in or around Mt. Juliet, HCP or TNDL flash, no trades. Thanks, -V1 point

Funny you ask. I would always buy whatever was on sale at the gun store when I went, so I had a mish mash of all different kinds of .22 ammo. But since each gun has a preference, it was hard to remember what ammo shot well in what gun. So 2 years ago I sold all my .22 ammo, and bought a case of Federal Auto Match.1 point

Suggest you look at the Feddersen barrels, I've got 2 10/22's with their barrels, very pleased. Both barrels are threaded and with a decent can, very quiet, just hear the action cycle.1 point

Funny you should mention that, I use one of my old camera bags as a small range bag.1 point

The quick answer is around the 3:32 mark where Mr. Kirk explains the ruling violates the Administrative Procedures Act. I don't see how the ATF can come back from this. The court ruled that the ATF doesn't have authority to make this rule according the APA. I think they're dead in the water without Congress passing a new law.1 point

I've tried and enjoyed these. BTW these are all the same 10/22. 1. Blackhawk Axiom stock. Lightweight and was great when my kids were small and growing. 2. Magpul X-22 stock. Great stock. A little heavy but solid and adjustable lop. 3. Desert Tech Trek-22 bullpup. This is my current stock and I love it.1 point

Woo Wee. My Huskies are the first team ever (and will be the last ever) to go 12-0 in PAC 12 play. It wasn't pretty, but a win's a win. I sure don't look forward to seeing them play against Alabama or Georgia, though. (Assuming they can win their conference championship game next Friday.) What does Garufa say about Alabama? They're the devil!1 point

Cook played a game of FA and he FO. Colie was in a position of being advanced upon by two people, one of which was significantly larger and acting in a very confusing, undeniably aggressive and abnormal manner. He was retreating and voicing his desire for Cook to stop. Fear and confusion were evident in his voice to me on the tape. I believe the jury made the right decision as Colie was in a position of being on the negative end of a disparity of force equation. His belief of being at risk of great bodily harm or death I view as entirely reasonable.1 point
