Well, another post prompted me to do my market research and get this listed. The person looking for a military 1911 was not moved to buy it at this time. For sale or trade in Harrison, 30 minutes north of Chattanooga. I can't travel to meet this month so it'd have to be someone willing to come here. $1500 cash / ~2K trade value. This 1918 Remington UMC came to me complete and correct except for the grips, which were commercial target style. I replaced them with USGI style service grips. By my best deduction, this is a military service veteran of two world wars. The Springfield Ordnance District Eagle's Head S11 acceptance mark is consistent with its 1918 serial number, placing it in service during WWI. The Augusta Arsenal marks above the trigger guard mark it as a WWII arsenal rebuild for continued service, and this is consistent with its WWII-era military proof Springfield barrel, which is commonly what AA used for their refits. Tragically, at some point during the last century, someone aggressively smoothed the flats and refinished the gun. It still maintains its correct military service parts, but the refinish has cut the value of this $3500+ gun in half. It is still a WWI / WWII warhorse, and I believe someone would be pleased to own a UMC 1911.5 points

The board of directors is massively large with staggered elections for the purpose of insulating WLP’s ability to treat the NRA coffers as his personal piggy bank. It’s all but impossible to take the board and elect enough opponents of the current state of things to oust WLP. It’s the reason some of the orgs we do support because they do the real work even exist. Reformers from inside the NRA who recognized the futility and left to start orgs to do more than rip off donors.4 points

As messy as this old world can be there's still so much to be Thankful for, just gotta look around for it sometimes. Wishing a Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving to all!4 points

Happy Thanksgiving. Thankful for the TGO and our community. “It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently, and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and one voice by the whole American people. I do, therefore, invite my fellow-citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next as a Day of Thanksgiving…” Abraham Lincoln, 18633 points

Antique Winchesters (and Marlins) are the stuff dreams are made of. Their quality is just unbelievable. They were made by craftsmen who took great pride in their work.3 points

myg30, your so right. I almost got beat down, in my own front year, just walking 300' to the mailbox. IMO, if I had not had a revolver in my pocket, and the will to use it, I would have been beat down by 3 druggies.3 points

Those Gen 2 Glocks are darn near rust proof and are the most reliable Glocks they ever made in my experience.2 points

Same here. It's so small and easy to carry that it makes me a "lazy carrier" sometimes. Before I got my LCP I would carry larger guns with leather holsters on my belt hidden under my shirt tail . With the LCP I can just put it in the pocket holster and take off down the road in shorts or jeans.2 points

I probably shoot my LCP more than any handgun I own. It is what I carry, and I would like to be proficient with it.2 points

My edc always gets a few through it, Kimber K6XS Make sure I have it before opening the car door as there are sometimes bear around (outdoor range).* *edit: no a 38+p is not a recommended load for bear, but they might die laughing when I pull it out.2 points

Darrell, they all have free Money to play with. I will not contribute any extra until WLP leaves.2 points

One has to think that the NRA is well-aware of the dissatisfaction of its members, and yet WLP remains. I know we are a fairly small sampling, but I think it's likely that we're pretty representative of gun-enthusiasts as a whole. So why does the Board of Directors keep him? Oliver North sounded an alarm and moved to remove WLP, but quickly found himself out instead. WLP must have an iron-clad grip on the organization. I also wonder if the NRA has someone who monitors forums like ours, and why they ignore what seems to a popular opinion among its members.2 points

Moped, I had 2 PPk/s and could not get either of them to run reliably. Sent both back to the factory with not good results. Both were 380's. Loved the size and fit, but I got rid of them. The Max 9 is close to the size/feel, but blockier. My max has better sights and been very reliable. My son-in-law purchased one, upon my recommendation, and carries it all the time. Between us we have about 1500 rounds thru both and no problems.2 points

Thank you my friend. All 3 pictured are $400.00 or less guns purchased within the past 4 or so years. Well seasoned but obviously well cared for by their previous owners. ( Disclaimer: I mis-typed, mis-thought. Those 2 revolvers are both S&W Model 10's...I was thinking I needed to grab my 15 as I headed, out so I guess that's why I typed that ) (I'll edit the above pic post...) I'm fortunate to have hoarded back a few Tyler T-grips (4" Model 10) over the years and have also been using BK Grip Adapters (2" Model 10) which serve that role well. My budget is tight, Isn't it for us all these days? But there are wheel gun bargains out there if we're patient. So these are a few of the many things I'm Thankful for today and every day.2 points

Cleaning up my collection... two single action army style commemorative Colts. No boxes - both originally came in display boxes with a plaque, but those boxes were lost in a flood (stored separately from the guns) by the previous owner. Both guns OBO/Trade with money either way. Located roughly 30 minutes north of downtown Chattanooga (Harrison). $800 OBO/trade for either revolver. Trades I'm looking for (can add/take cash either way to even up) ACW to WWII and modern military weapons, S&W revolvers (older or Pro/Performance stuff), high end combat/duty handguns, target/benchrest/competition rifles, tactical carbines and rifles, level 3+ composite body armor, 1919A4 parts (tripod, accessories, etc), gadgets, mill and lathe, automotive tools and equipment, gunsmithing stuff, a 200cc go kart with suspension, C5 Corvette race parts... a lot of things. Not into Glocks, dolled up guns charging for add-on parts, or run-of-the-mill firearms. First, a Colt Peacemaker Bluntline. 2nd Amendment commemorative two-tone nickel and beautiful high polish Royal Blue finish with faux black pearl grips. 7-1/2" barrel, test fired only. :The Right to Keep and Bear Arms" engraved along the barrel. Additional engraving on the heel of the grip frame (there's no damage on the heel, the bright spots are reflections in the engraving). Second revolver is a Colt New Frontier "The Duke" John Wayne commemorative 4-3/8" color case hardened/blued finish. Adjustable sights, unfired/as new.1 point

Just want to give a shout-out for those that may not have family around. First few holidays were rough for me, only time I experienced homesickness. Usually spend the holidays with my old timer neighbor shooting and eating, gave him a heads up that this year would be different for us. I felt bad driving home and saw his car in the drive. Called and let him know I’ll bring him home a plate and happy to hear he has plans of his own! Very grateful that a few years ago my buddy reached out to me and had myself and a few other of us over that didn’t have family around because being ex-military he got the whole “holidays are tough thing”. Made my first pie today (she did all the measuring and hard work I just sliced and peeled the apples and did the dishes), looking forward to and grateful for being able to spend the day in a family environment. Happy tday all.1 point

I live alone with my hound and keep my doors locked. My son in law and daughter asked me why do I lock my door when their house is only 50 feet in front of my house and I said yea and you both work and I am home alone most of the day. If the bad guys come to my house I will call 911 and if the bad guy leave fine and if they don't 911 better send an ambulance with the police. The front house was burglarized before I moved here and now they have motion cameras in their house that alerts them on their phones if one is tripped.1 point

The military weapons are a great piece of US history. They are being snatched up by collectors and are selling for good money. This was a great catch.1 point

I will let you know if one come up at a local gun auction and I don’t want to name it right now as I don’t need more bidder to compete with. Got my colt all original wwii for a killer price and that day there was like 20 wwi and wwii 1911 and 1911a1 all went for at least two time below market rate , most of them had original $20 price tags on them, I guess that is the price back in 50-60s1 point

My youngest daughter and her family are here, and we were shooting yesterday, and she asked if I would get the Henry Lever out so she could shoot it. She loves that rifle. Hope to get it out on Friday and bust some caps. It is 38/357 Mag caliber. She asked me to give the rifle to her when I get finished with it. I am. We have shot up some expensive ammo this month. We have fired around 2,000 all totaled, rounds this past 2 weeks. With the 3 newbies I trained last week and my grandkids this week. They look forward to this week every year. My 13 Y O granddaughter took my Model 60 22 w/scope and was dinging the 22 steel tree target with 2" swing out targets at 50" feet like crazy. That thing is a "hoot to shoot". She out shot her brother, mom and dad with that rifle. That thing is a tack driver. Shoots 1" groups at 50 yards off sandbags. Edited to add; They all want to shoot the Henry lever. Guess another 100/200 or so rounds of 38 Spl and 357 Mag are going to get burned, L/w. I will say the Henry is one of my favorite rifles also. Just something about swinging that lever. When I was a kid my dad had a 243-lever gun. I shot it all the time. He also had a pre-model 10 38 Spl revolver and I fired it whenever he got it out. Guess my love for them followed me from kiddom into adulthood. Truly thankful today for family, and epically for Jesus Christ, and what he has done for us all. I praise Him.1 point

Agreed. Thanks for posting this. Also an update on my 380 ACP order from “Beebee” shopbfamily.com… ordered November 6th and arrived yesterday. Two week turn around but won’t complain because for 23.5 cpr for .380 shipped it was by far the cheapest. Will have to take a drive out of the way and stop home to grab it because I went halves with my buddy I’m spending thanksgiving with. His wife got a 380 EZ and needed training ammo. I appreciate all the posts that show time and turn around and quality of service. Would order from both posted again. Edit: added picture. I will say was worried with the rain and this sitting on the porch. Phenomenal packaging job individually Saran wrapped and adding packing paper. I’ll support this small family business again.1 point

I do not hunt any more, but what I saw yesterday and today I just might. Tuesday headed out to work saw a little 4 point, my guess is 2 years old. Tonight getting some fire wood to the house, 2 does came across the drive way, 2 seconds latter a big 8 point was after them. He had you know what on his mind, he could have give 2 hoots about me not 20 feet from him. He stopped, give me a look for what seemed like 30 seconds, turned and was after the does.1 point

While not necessarily a gun I seek out each range trip, it's one I pocket carry an LCR .38 spl each and every day, so it makes every range trip with me and I shoot it pretty much weekly. My LCR in .38 spl that I was fortunate to purchase from a member here a few years ago. (Range=ORSA) My Model 10 snub and Model 15 are frequent companions. Especially the past few months. The 10 snub is in my AIWB holster as I type this and prepare to head to the range. (ETA: The below revolvers are both S&W Model 10's. 4" and a 2"...I just told myself to grab the 15 before I left for the range...)1 point

I have taken a bit of a combined approach. I have some nice guns of all sorts, but I am basically now a 100% 22 guy. I have been selling off guns I don’t shoot and will probably never shoot and putting that money into higher end 22’s. I have enough of the other to still do anything I want but I don’t hunt anymore and am basically into precision shooting. I love me some small calibers still like 22-250 and 204 Ruger. I am a proponent of finding what you really love and finding the rarities in that and making it fun. I am kind of out of the collecting mode. Even my rarer or classic 22’s I want to shoot. What else is the point of having them.1 point
