My wife’s brother has a daughter who has two daughters of her own. Best I can figure, that makes them my great nieces. Anyway, the oldest is about 3 years old. She never seemed to like me much, although they live several hours away from here, and we don’t see them very often. At her preschool, they were asked to name the things they are thankful for this Thanksgiving. She named off several things, including the family members she could think of. Then she asked her mom “Who’s the guy with the white beard?” Her mom said “Santa Claus?” She said “-No, Greg.” I thought that was pretty cool. It probably ain’t much to you, but hell! I beat out Sant Claus.8 points

You can spend more and buy a prettier, better feeling rifle, but it won’t likely be any more accurate than a cheap Savage.5 points

RIP. I expect President Carter to follow soon. While he was a so-so president, he was a great humanitarian and Christian.3 points

My best AR was a home built blem Anderson lower, no-name mil spec upper and a decent 300bo barrel. The lower parts kit was probably BCA, I did put a nice stock and decent forend. It shot like a dream. I’m sure I can buy it back from my buddy if I ever think I will own an AR again.3 points

The Nylon 66, while a wonderful shooter, is a very unique. I've never seen any other design even close to it. Clean the barrel, chamber and bolt face. Never, Ever take that thing apart. Trust me on this. I know.2 points

Met Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter a few times long after his presidency. Great people. I have always said he was too nice to be in politics. My wife told me the other day she had went into hospice. I said I bet they both pass with a very short time of each other. RIP Rosalyn Carter. You did make a difference in many many lives.2 points

Be aware, on any of the package guns, be sure to remove and re-install (torque) the scope mounts and scope. They have been known to be left loose.2 points

I’m my case, membership is required to belong to the conservation club. Apparently the club insurance is somehow tied to the requirement that everyone have an active NRA membership. $90 a year for a private club with multiple types of shooting ranges and no restrictions other than a 300 member cap make it too hard to resist. if a similar facility opened up without the NRA involvement, I’d be there in a minute. Even if it were slightly more expensive.2 points

Over the years I've carried a lot of water for the NRA. I really wanted em to straighten up. They simply haven't...SIGH. I finally gave up on em. I've joined with the Firearms Policy Coalition and the Second Amendment Foundation. I'm like others here, the management of the NRA has to go before I send em any dollars. NRA refusenik leroy.1 point

I met both of them on a Habitat build years ago. As President he tried to create a new dynamic that was admirable, but not what we needed as a country at that time. One of the most gracious former presidents we have had. And on the Habitat worksite, he was a whirlwind as a worker! God's blessings on the President and his family.1 point

Here is my very nice commercial model German Luger made in 1920 by DWM. I’ve had this pistol a long time and it’s a fantastic example. All numbers match on pistol (except the magazine) and the pistol is in great condition, and all blueing/strawing is nice. Bore is perfect, action is smooth. Comes with a an original 1940 WW2 Era dated holster (as was common with captures and how some German police pistols were found at the end of the war) one original wood based magazine, and 50 rounds of Fiocci 30 luger ammo. asking 1400 obo located in Knoxville1 point

Out of all the ones I have built, I have only had one problem. It was an AR Stoner barrel with a headspace problem. Midway made good on the barrel. I replaced with a BA, and swore off Stoner for good. I have had great luck with PSA rifle kits. I have built several of them with various brands of stripped lowers. A couple of those wound up shooting sub MOA with my favorite test ammo.1 point

Think the ammo recall and Norma’s willingness to foot the bill for everything says it all honestly. If they could point finger at Springfield I’m sure they would have. Will circle back with any additional info from gunsmiths1 point

I'm a lifetime member of the NRA and several other organizations. I have told the NRA I will not give them another dime until changes are made. Now I do give heavily to several of the other organizations like GOA, TFA, FPC, SAF and others.1 point

PSA would be my “bargain” choice. I built a AR9 using one of their BLEM AR-15 lowers and a BLEM 9mm upper. Hundreds of rounds down rage without issue. $450ish? Ruger556 for mid-tier has been a great performer. HonestOutlaw did a pretty flattering review of one of the other posters suggestion, Bear Creek1 point

Right now even trying to piece one together is hard to do for the $330 that the one is running for. If he is not gonna be going to war with it, get that one and if he likes it, he can save more for a "better" one. Though better is very relative. I am the guy that is happy with MOA of a 6 inch target for 16 inch AR-15s though. If I want precision, I have other guns for that. In a hostile situation, most ARs are gonna pump ammo toward center mass and be just fine.1 point

She couldn't get it to run, and it's been sent back to FN. Not an encouraging beginning. I'll report back when I learn more.1 point

My grandson took a doe last year with the one (Axis I 308) I gave him last fall. I like 308 because it is one you can always find ammo for anywhere rifle ammo is sold. I will say I am old school 30 06 man also. Elmer Keith said the 06 was the most versatile rifle of his time. My dad had an 06 and a lever 243 we hunted with for all my younger years before I took "My Senior Trip" to Southeast Asia in 1967/68. I guess Elmer would be amazed with today offerings. I was wondering the same thing on the Axis II’s. I saw a stainless Axis II , no scope for $342 I think .I’d like to have one in .3081 point

The Axis II is the better rifle. Has the Better Trigger and a little more accurate. I have the first offering AX 1, one in 308 and 7MM 08. Both are serviceable and reliable rifles. Don't expect it to be a 110 because it is not, but well worth the money. Will take anything the caliber will allow. I really like mine.1 point

Only complaints I have heard now that they have been out while is the cheaper plastic safety breaks there are aftermarket available now as well1 point

I quit wearing watches a couple of decades ago. About three years ago, I started having an hankering for one again. We do a lot of antique and thrift store shopping for my wife's craft business. We happened to be in Bargain Hunters over on Chapman Hwy, not long after and I spotted an Armitron Sport watch that was gray and orange (Great UT colors) for $10. I bought it and have been wearing ever since. No clue how old it is, but after three years, I still haven't replaced the battery!!! I consider it to be a fantastic buy!!!1 point

Get some jewelry cleaner and a toothbrush. Scrub it down with that and it will likely accomplish everything you’re after.1 point

I got a new Timex for Christmas. I wanted something with more contrast between the face and hands so it would be easier for my old eyes to read. This fit the bill.1 point

Nice looking watches. Working on equipment has and will destroy rings, and watches. Years ago I welded a wrench to a ring changing a battery on a boat, burned my finger as well. After that never did wear anything below my elbows but long sleeves and not around running motors or engines.1 point
