  1. Ruger New Model Blackhawk "Buckeye" Edition For those unfamiliar this was a limited run issued by Ruger for Buckeye Sports in what I believe to be 1988-1989. As usual with limited runs they quoted only 500 of this model exists but I've never done the leg work to verify. I just know this one is new in the box and have been in my Ruger collection for a long time. Time to see if someone else wants to add it to theirs. Chambered for 38-40 / 10mm. The 10mm cylinder has never been spun and only left the wrap long enough for a pic. 6.5" barrel. It has the Buckeye blossom etched into the top strap to indicate the limited model and has a SN special to this run. Box isn't mint but really good for it's age. Only trade interest would be a collectible on my short list and those are pretty specific anymore. $1500 I'm in east tn but travel occasionally and I'm also not against shipping it if that's whats needed.

  2. As title says, 45/70 guide gun. Check out the certificate photo, 2006 limited edition and I enclose the end of the box with Serial # etc. Rifle is in good condition but has been used. There are a couple of minor marks on the stock but nothing major. I did remove the safety and replaced the trigger with a WWG trigger happy kit. I believe these 2 mods improve the rifle but YMMV. The rear sight is original but needs some attention to stay solid, new screw probably? The photo shows a Sig Romeo5 red dot which is not included unless someone wants to pay another $80 for it.

  3. Odd source for this type of article on Tennessee Gun Owners. It's from Rolling Stone magazine. Seems funding for the NRA as been slipping and rather than get rid of WLP and his crew of misfits, they are cutting funding for shooting education. Imagine that. The NRA was a great organization, until the crooks took it over. And I don't see it ever coming back to preeminence until WLP and his cronies are gone. Of course, as long as there's enough cash coming in to support their lifestyles, that's not going to happen. I'd copy and paste the article here, but I'm afraid the graphics might not come over. So here's the link. Go read it for yourselves. The NRA Is Cannibalizing Itself (msn.com)

  6. *cough* But seriously, you really do need to stop for a moment and read the room. You basically pulled the spotlight onto you and announced that you're new but here to help. In case you missed it, the reaction you got is the quintessential "You ain't from around here, are ya?" I am sure this hasn't gone the way you thought that it would, but the rest of us saw it coming.

  7. Thanks for the info and photos @Fencersms. I too am glad you weren't injured. I agree that this looks like an out of battery firing. I've experienced it before and it was probably in a Glock as that's been the predominate autoloader I've shot since the late '90's. But I didn't have the extent of damage you experienced...just soot. But out of battery firing nonetheless. I was just shooting some 124 gr 9mm Norma last week (got a great price on it) and noted it was "peppy" to my shooting buddies. Much the same feel as NATO spec 124, which we actually shot side by side with it. I planned to chrono that Norma this coming weekend. Do you have the lot# for this ammo? I'm kind of gimped up right now, stairs are challenging with a cane, but I'll look at my lot numbers in the morning when I head back downstairs.

  8. I tend to agree and I'm fairly outspoken within my personal circles about 2A topics. I would be inclined to be more reticent if someone shoved a microphone in my face or invited me to represent gun owners at large in some sort of "study group", such as being discussed here. I am naturally distrusting when it comes to the risk of my words being misconstrued or used against me and would not want to risk being someone's tool to undermine the very thing that I thought I was trying to support. I also feel like I am fairly cognizant of "swim lanes" and try to stay inside of mine.

  9. @norsemen308I think the questions that everyone is asking in different ways are... 1. Who nominated you to represent the gun owners of Tennessee? and 2. Are you representing us well, or are you representing us in the way that a gun control organization would want?

  10. Unless someone stocks precisely what you want, I would suggest buying parts and assembling one yourself. Cheaper and better than buying something and then spending a small fortune swapping out parts to suit you. Anderson and Palmetto State make passable receivers. Many companies sell serviceable lower and upper parts kits. Put your money in a good barrel and good trigger. There really isn’t any magic in a quality AR.

  11. The average gun enthusiast wants .gov to adhere to the second amendment as it was written. “Shall not be infringed” is a pretty simple concept to understand. There should be NO restrictive gun laws. There should be NO BATFE. You don’t need a poll for that. Leave us alone as the constitution requires. There is NO room for compromise. None!!!

  12. More cleanout. I shot it 12 rounds for function and that was it. I bought it for my mom to carry, but she never did so this can go. Great little pistol for a purse or pocket. 2.1" barrel, bobbed hammer, DLC over Stainless. $Sold. Meet within a reasonable distance of Chapel Hill.

  14. Many of us here actually know each other. There are many good, trustworthy guys on this forum. You haven’t done anything this far to command that confidence we have in one another. I dealt with contractors my entire career. I am pretty good at sniffing out bullchit. To be perfectly honest, I’m not getting a good vibe from this thread.

  15. I’m thinking an overcharged round and/or defective case. Too much powder I can see blowing the mag out. Is the chamber in a Hellcat fully supported or is it Glock style?

  17. In the " old days " we used to shoot hot loads out of the old Gubt model Colt 38 supers using heavy bullets ( .140 grain 357s I think ) intentionally set over the max OAL so the bullets would rest on the barrel lands when chambered. That " hillside engineering " fixed the headspace problem with the old supers. The rounds would bulge the cases on the first firing and blow em out at the point of non support at the bottom of the barrel at the magazine ALA a Glock on the second firing of the brass. The brass blow out looked a lot like this. This one looks pretty bad ta me due to the hammering of the case head. Never saw one this bad. I would look for a barrel obstruction here. Sorry ta hear about your bad experience... Glad it was no worse than it is. leroy...

  18. Holy smokes, a trip down memory lane. The first car I remember is our 1970?? 2 door army green Coronet. My not-so-fondest memory of it was when my dad slammed the hood on my fingers (I was maybe four years old and he didn't realize I was standing next to him on my toes trying to see what he was doing under the hood). 20. Find a used one or build it from parts. Get a fully assembled upper and build the rest. Took me an hour for my first rifle, and that includes 3 tries to get the trigger right. There's really nothing that can't be fixed or changed to suit your fancy.

  22. The reason I showed up at all was because I have worked as Mental Health Professional for the past decade, and I believed that I had personal experience that needed to be shared. It seems that most of the focus when it comes to gun violence and safety is focused on restriction and banning access to firearms. These are reactionary interventions. What is interesting to me is that over the course of the last 100 years, the Gun Control Lobby has gotten everything they have asked for, and yet, there is no statistical evidence that suggests any of these policies, laws or restrictions had a positive effect. What frustrates me on top of this revelation is the fact that now the Mental Health community is being drug in as the new scapegoat. We are easily the current community that is used as political pawns to further an agenda hell bent on removing constitutional rights from American Citizens, but we as a segment of the population are not actually afforded the resources needed to have healthy sustainable mental health. Case in point. I could have housed every homeless Veteran in this nation, provided them a case manager, therapist and PCP for 10 years with the amount of money we have spent in Ukraine. It is my belief that if this country truly proactively invested in the mental health of this nation we would see a sharp decline in overall self-harm, active psychosis criminal activity, assaults and murder. Instead, the Gun control movement is looking to further ostracize the mental health community by placing arbitrary limits on the people courageous enough to seek help for the mental illness. Just as recent as the special session, SB522 was aiming to place red flag restrictions on individuals prescribed certain anti-anxiety medication. These medications where no where near the level of potency as say anti-psychotics and would have made it highly likely that an individual such as a stay at home mother, or everyday joe would be unable to purchase a firearm or ammo, not to mention the fact a lot of these anti-anxiety medications are prescribed off label for things such as acne and IBS. Do I agree with everything that is on the survey? No, but thats not how the process works, people have a right, even if I disagree to bring their ideas to the table. It doesn't mean I accept those ideas, and I will do everything in my power to lobby against and work for education and dismissal of ideas that will infringe on our individual liberties.

  24. Desert Ranger, I just faced the same thing you are looking for. I went to Outpost Armory, in Murfreesboro TN, and was looking for an entry level. The rifle I carried in Vietnam was a Colt M 16. I looked at the S W Sporter and was really thinking that might be the one. I ended up purchasing an all-metal, except for the furniture, Springfield Armory Saint in 556/223 which included metal sights. I like all metal guns. It was a tad higher in price and a little heavier. My son-in-law purchased a Palmetto Armory AR, in Charleston S C recently. It cost him, 499.00 and he likes it. I had that in mind when I went, however settled on the one I purchased. I am satisfied also.

  28. If he’s like me and not going to be putting thousands of rounds down it every year I’d wait until Black Friday sale when these drop to $400 w/ a $20 off coupon. https://www.primaryarms.com/andro-corp-industries-bravo-556-ar15-rifle-16in Small vet owned shop, warranties the same as PSA. BA barrel, MOA is fine. Goes bang. I listened to a lot of online forums and the general consensus was they were solid beater ARs and the customer service was good. The bones are good, I swapped triggers and added sights and optics and tinkered around. Otherwise I’d just find a blem PSA if he’s trying to stay in budget budget range. PSA rifles seem to have gone up lately though. if he wants to pony up a few more bucks I’d wait for a deal on an https://gunprime.com/products/smith-wesson-mp15-sport-ii-optics-ready-556-nato-16-30rd-black backed by their CS can’t go wrong everyone else online says to jump at a Zion for $700 or so. Im not a big AR guy, don’t know enough about what accessories I actually like, it’s been fun just getting a decent rifle with good bones and tinkering so I’d just get a cheap one and let him figure what he likes.

  29. The idea of not trusting your opinions on guns to strangers has more merit than the OP realizes. Afterall, we're talking about 2A issues here that are protected by the Bill of Rights, not bond issues or legalization or mottos/symbols on a ballot initiative. If public opinion mattered as much as the law, we'd have lost our gun rights decades ago. With these questions, adding another number to the respondent count will NOT help our side when the stats are used against us.

  30. Do the survey and mark "strongly disagree" to all questions. The wording is confusing (by design) and the underlying objective seems to be figuring out where the weak spot is on the pro gun side so they can chisel away at that (whatever it turns out to be). Red flag laws seem 'reasonable' to everyone? Let's start there. I appreciate the sincerity the OP is bringing as he seems like a genuine pro 2A advocate, but after reading the survey questions, I don't see that there is any clarity in how they are written to where a person can feel good about answering any of them with confidence that your answer will represent how you truly feel. As @BigK put it "Those questions were architected to be used in any way the person who collects them sees fit." Now that I've seen the questions, I believe that is absolutely correct. I don't see value in doing this survey. Sorry OP. I do see value in contacting your representatives & letting them know how you REALLY feel & I see value in showing up & voting for the PRO GUN candidate at election time. @Worriedman and the NRA & GOA can tell you who those people are. Vote. That is your secret power. Do it. Use it. Sitting it out allows evil to win.

  31. It's hard to believe those questions were written so vaguely on accident. Mark Twain was right about lies, damn lies and statistics. Those questions were architected to be used in any way the person who collects them sees fit.

  33. I have two non-negotiable requirements for a pistol that I'm going to pocket carry - but a lot of moving pieces affect both of them. If I'm going to pocket carry, I have to first be able to get a full firing grip while it's in my pocket and second, I do not want to have to readjust that grip when it comes out of my pocket. If either of those conditions are lacking - it's a no go for pocket carry. In a full stress situation, you're not going to have time to draw, readjust your grip, and get on target. At best it's going to slow you down a lot - at worst you're going to fumble the pistol. The only pistol that has ever fit that bill for me is a j-frame riding in an aholster. Obviously all that is affected by a person's frame and build, and their clothing choices. So, YMMV.
