  1. As I PM'ed with several revolver aficionados who responded to my Ruger trade post, I realized some people might enjoy a peek at one of the focuses of my collecting: S&W revolvers. Pictured here are from top down are: 1979 Model 629 8-3/8" with a pinned barrel and counterbored cylinder 1983 629-1 4" 1976 Model 29-2 8-3/8" with a pinned barrel and counterbored cylinder 1982 29-3 4" All are "3T" Target Triggers/Hammers/Sights. Both pairs represent the jump in engineering changes from pinned barrels to threaded, and dropping the machining complexity of counterbored cylinders which results in a larger gap to the frame behind the cylinder, in order to clear the protruding cartridge rims. The long barrels are somewhat softer shooting, but the short barrels are more pointable. All require a recitation of the words "do you feel lucky, punk?" after closing the cylinder. I hope some enjoy the peek in the safe.

  3. My training session, yesterday, went great. I have never had 2 people pick up shooting accurately this quick before. I had a mother, son, and father out that I attend church with. The father (mid 40ish) asked me if I would introduce/teach his 23 Y O son to shoot handguns. The father had shot before, but the son had not. I told him to bring his wife along if she was interested and she came. She told me she would watch so I did not push her. They arrived at 9:30 and we sat down at our kitchen table, and I had out about 9 handguns. Talked safety for a while then explained the handguns we had out. We then went to the firing range in my back yard. I Started them out with 22 L R revolver, then 38 Spl revolver, and finished with 9MM pistol. We stayed with Smith Wesson handguns for the brand. First, started with a alloy frame model 317-3, 8 shot, 22LR revolver w 3" brl. Moved up to a SW Model 65, 3" 6 shot Lady Smith 38Spl/357 Mag Revolver. Only fired 38 Spl practice in this revolver. Then finished with a 15 shot M P 9 C 2.0 pistol 4" brl. We took about 2 hrs in time. First allowed the son to shoot the 22 LR. He was extremely nervous. His hands were shaking so I sat beside and reassured him how the revolver was going to react, how to align the Green Pipe sights, and just gently talked him "easily" through the first shot. After the first shot we were off to the races. He was surprised but took it well as he emptied the 8 shots. I always like them to think about what the just did for a few minutes their first-time firing. I find they come back much more assured of what was happening. He never looked back. Next, I asked his mom if she wanted to try it, as all the while taking to her after her sons every shot and allowing her to watch intently. She decided to try it. Well long story short, we created a monster. She shot all 3 guns as had no problems and accepted the increased power of the other 2 calibers. So did the son. We were shooting at a 12" steel target and 25 feet. None of them missed the target with over 2 or 3 shots of everything we fired. The dad joined in and shot all 3 handguns very methodically and they observed and learned from him. After dad both wanted to fire some more. We took out 100 rounds of 38 spl practice ammo, large box of 22 LR, and 100 rounds of 9 MM practice. We fired 300 rounds total, and they all had no problem hitting almost every shot on steel. They told me this morning that the day was a total blast, and they enjoyed the outing. The son, quiet boy, came and shook my hand and really thanked me. I could tell they all had a lot of confidence and most probably handguns are in their future. The Mom told me it really empowered her much more than she had realized, after they got home, and really had time to digest the outing. My mission was totally successful. WE had a pretty good day.

  5. I have decided to sell my Baby Browning which I have owned for over 30 years. It is a .25 ACP, semi-auto, with 2 inch barrel and 6 round FN magazine. It comes with a Browning soft case. The gun was made in 1960 by FN (Fabrique Nationale) in Belgium, and then imported by Browning. This gun is a little pocket pistol and is in great shape as you can see in the photos. I have always kept the gun in it's case and away from extreme temps/humidity. The Baby Browning is getting harder and harder to find, especially in this condition. Please do not ask me to call or text you as I will only communicate through the TGO messaging system. If you would like more pictures just let me know, but be advised I will not take the gun apart. $950.00 OBO (CASH)

  10. Very nice. I'm a S&W collector myself. But I admit to not being much of a .44 magnum fan. I done got too old for all that buck and roar. For big bores, I always preferred the .44 Special and .45 Colt. i got lots of those.

  12. I recently went on an extended RV Trip and pocket carried my Ruger Max 9 in a pocket holster. That pistol is a dream to pocket carry. If I didn't like revolvers so well the Max 9 would be my EDC permanently. By the way I have Winchester Ranger 147 Gr + P HP ammo in it. This ammo whacks the steel, on my back yard range, with gusto. Going to be shooting some water jugs with a lot of newer S D handgun ammo soon. Testing for penetration and expansion. Should come in handy if I am ever attacked by a water jug, don't you think?

  13. New never shot. Full kit single action 9mm double stack 1911, like a Staccato but with aluminum frame. Cool fluted barrel and has a really good action and trigger. 2 15 round mags and is cut for optics. Has a Vedder iwb holster included. Bought this and have since decided I need to focus more on one platform, so a partial trade for a Sig Macro or 365xl plus cash would be considered. $1300 Northern mid TN area. PENDING

  14. I was one of the guests on the That Weems Guy podcast last night talking about my experience at the National Tactical Invitational . Fellow guests were John Hearne, Tim Burke and John Holschen. For those not familiar , NTI was a training event like no other that combined scenario based shooting stages , standards type shooting stages and interactive force on force stages to thoroughly test the practitioners’ skill sets. The event was put on from 1991 until about 2012. Episode is titled "Hearne at the Helm : NTI " https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/lee-weems/episodes/Hearne-at-the-Helm-NTI-e2brmac?fbclid=IwAR14i45JjjQODPw5kj-wU7J0Gbtqb1DvjE7pht7Tn8JSYuQ8awb_x0VXtro

  25. I'm a 1911 specialist, but I'm all the way in Chattanooga. I have built over 200 full 1911's, and tuned and customized countless others. I must respectfully disagree with the above; the 1911 is one of the most complex handguns to tune correctly (and safely). I have more money in 1911 specialty tools than I do for all other handguns combined. No sir, simple tools are absolutely not adequate for even the most common jobs, such as trigger work and timing or barrel fitment. At least, not at what most consider a true "gunsmith" level. Just tuning a trigger takes several hundred dollars in specialty tools. I need trigger stirrup anvils of various sizes to form the trigger bow - essential for smooth and even support along the magwell trigger shelf. I need a sear microscope to set my sear angles ($$$!). I need my 1911 stoning jigs to cut my sear and hone my ignition group. A whole set of tools is needed to set the link and cut the lugs. And fitment of the hood and recoil lugs is a whole art form in itself! Anyway... with all due respect, growing into working on 1911's was a multi-year, multi-thousand dollar proposition for us.

  27. Hey folks. I just purchased this from GT and decided I don’t want to use it for my intended purpose. It’s too nice of a knife so I’ve decided to move it along to someone else that wants it. Same price as what I paid. $85 shipped in like new condition.

  30. As stated, the permit allows for carry in other states. I hope I'm on every list the government has as a gun owner. They need to know and respect us. Trust me they already know or assume they know. Our buying habits, website visits, etc., paint a very accurate picture of who we are.

  34. Sometimes you need to figure what might be prevented into the bid cost. I once paid a guy $400 to remove a limb. That sounds ridiculous, but it had to go, and the odds of me making a trip to the emergency room after attempting it myself made it seem much more reasonable after thinking about it for a while. He had the knowledge and equipment to do it safely. I had neither.

  35. Never thought I'd do it but I've got a Toyota project that needs some love. Arsenal SLR-104FR that was SBR'd and converted to "CR" standard or an AK105 clone using the correct Bulgarian gas block from Arsenal. Rifle has been removed from the registry, muzzle brake pinned on, and engraving lasered off. Comes with 14 Surplus mags, a few Izzy plums, two flavors of red brick bulgys, and the rest black ((10)), ((21)), ((25)). I also have some 5.45 ammo I'll toss in as well, probably half a case of commercial 60 grain. If you want any specific photos or have any questions please ask. $3000 FTF Middle TN.

  37. So, I was up in the school part of Covenant Church with my wife yesterday. The school is not yet back in the space (thank you BWCC for the space you have allowed the school to use). I had not been in the building past the front foyer since the shooting. Lots of changes since I was there when TCS was still in the space. But they had a lot of damage to fix. We had to walk down the third grade hall to pick up some tables and it required us to walk past where the children were murdered. It was hard. There is not evidence of anything except they have blocked off that stairwell for the time being. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t choked up. Anyway. I just needed to get that out. Thanks.
