So, I was up in the school part of Covenant Church with my wife yesterday. The school is not yet back in the space (thank you BWCC for the space you have allowed the school to use). I had not been in the building past the front foyer since the shooting. Lots of changes since I was there when TCS was still in the space. But they had a lot of damage to fix. We had to walk down the third grade hall to pick up some tables and it required us to walk past where the children were murdered. It was hard. There is not evidence of anything except they have blocked off that stairwell for the time being. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t choked up. Anyway. I just needed to get that out. Thanks.

As I PM'ed with several revolver aficionados who responded to my Ruger trade post, I realized some people might enjoy a peek at one of the focuses of my collecting: S&W revolvers. Pictured here are from top down are: 1979 Model 629 8-3/8" with a pinned barrel and counterbored cylinder 1983 629-1 4" 1976 Model 29-2 8-3/8" with a pinned barrel and counterbored cylinder 1982 29-3 4" All are "3T" Target Triggers/Hammers/Sights. Both pairs represent the jump in engineering changes from pinned barrels to threaded, and dropping the machining complexity of counterbored cylinders which results in a larger gap to the frame behind the cylinder, in order to clear the protruding cartridge rims. The long barrels are somewhat softer shooting, but the short barrels are more pointable. All require a recitation of the words "do you feel lucky, punk?" after closing the cylinder. I hope some enjoy the peek in the safe.

Just left coffee co gun show, lotsa old stuff, bone handled knives etc… was chatting w a seller who told me ken Arnold passed on. He was a utg dealer, and was the guy w all the tiny parts kits for ar and ak you would see at many gun shows… . Not confirmed but figured I’d post. Super nice guy!! Hate to see him gone if true. He was the guy u would see for a pin or spring on a Sunday to finish a fix or build!

My training session, yesterday, went great. I have never had 2 people pick up shooting accurately this quick before. I had a mother, son, and father out that I attend church with. The father (mid 40ish) asked me if I would introduce/teach his 23 Y O son to shoot handguns. The father had shot before, but the son had not. I told him to bring his wife along if she was interested and she came. She told me she would watch so I did not push her. They arrived at 9:30 and we sat down at our kitchen table, and I had out about 9 handguns. Talked safety for a while then explained the handguns we had out. We then went to the firing range in my back yard. I Started them out with 22 L R revolver, then 38 Spl revolver, and finished with 9MM pistol. We stayed with Smith Wesson handguns for the brand. First, started with a alloy frame model 317-3, 8 shot, 22LR revolver w 3" brl. Moved up to a SW Model 65, 3" 6 shot Lady Smith 38Spl/357 Mag Revolver. Only fired 38 Spl practice in this revolver. Then finished with a 15 shot M P 9 C 2.0 pistol 4" brl. We took about 2 hrs in time. First allowed the son to shoot the 22 LR. He was extremely nervous. His hands were shaking so I sat beside and reassured him how the revolver was going to react, how to align the Green Pipe sights, and just gently talked him "easily" through the first shot. After the first shot we were off to the races. He was surprised but took it well as he emptied the 8 shots. I always like them to think about what the just did for a few minutes their first-time firing. I find they come back much more assured of what was happening. He never looked back. Next, I asked his mom if she wanted to try it, as all the while taking to her after her sons every shot and allowing her to watch intently. She decided to try it. Well long story short, we created a monster. She shot all 3 guns as had no problems and accepted the increased power of the other 2 calibers. So did the son. We were shooting at a 12" steel target and 25 feet. None of them missed the target with over 2 or 3 shots of everything we fired. The dad joined in and shot all 3 handguns very methodically and they observed and learned from him. After dad both wanted to fire some more. We took out 100 rounds of 38 spl practice ammo, large box of 22 LR, and 100 rounds of 9 MM practice. We fired 300 rounds total, and they all had no problem hitting almost every shot on steel. They told me this morning that the day was a total blast, and they enjoyed the outing. The son, quiet boy, came and shook my hand and really thanked me. I could tell they all had a lot of confidence and most probably handguns are in their future. The Mom told me it really empowered her much more than she had realized, after they got home, and really had time to digest the outing. My mission was totally successful. WE had a pretty good day.

Fast forward to 11:20 time stamp. These two gentlemen get it!

I've owned -this- 1-of-250 limited edition Daniel Defense Larry Vickers Signature Edition M4's for about 8 years. (Alternate Article) I had a meet and greet with him, and he signed the receiver and his sling for me. It's a pretty nice setup. All the name brand state-of-the-2010-art stuff. Very heavy by today's standards, but the RIS II is still respected. It was a $3000 item back when it was released. His felony charges got me thinking... does his prohibited person status make it more collectable, or less? That's one third joke but two thirds a serious question. The guy served his country and has battled cancer, and he was pleasant in person - I've met several personalities in the industry who are not worth spending time with. So I'm not bashing on him, I'm just honestly curious what impact on value the recent developments have on a signature gun from a person who can no longer own guns. My guess is not much change. One in used condition with light wear went for $2350 at Rock Island Auctions this past Feb. I imagine this one in New condition with autographs is basically worth only a little over what it originally sold for. Not for sale, sorry, just a topic of conversation with Larry in the news. FWIW I think SOTs should be able to build and buy whatever. The GCA Law Letter crap exists almost solely to be abused by people with connections while the have nots, have not.

New never shot. Full kit single action 9mm double stack 1911, like a Staccato but with aluminum frame. Cool fluted barrel and has a really good action and trigger. 2 15 round mags and is cut for optics. Has a Vedder iwb holster included. When I took it 8 years ago I asked them what the average score was and they said 99%. You could shoot as slow as you want and in my group they had you shoot one shot and stop first, then gave help to those that they thought had trouble. I think the low score in our group including 2 brand new shooters was 90%. Most got 100%

One time several years back at a Murfreesboro gun show, I was up front by the door where the off duty cop was checking guns being brought in when Ken came up, madder than hell, holding a young fella by the arm, ranting about a ‘damn thief’.he told the cop, here’s a damn thief, you deal with him. And walked off.

Just back from Texas. 19ish hours of driving. 6.5 hours of hunting. 4.8 miles of walking in muddy fields. 3.9 hours of sleep. Dead pigs everywhere. All in 36 hours. Two more trips pending in the next 3 months.

There were more than a few visitors at the cemetery today, my guess at least 30 or so. The place looked real nice. All the head stones had a US flag in front of it.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE CONCURRING, that a majority of all the members of each house concurring, as shown by the yeas and nays entered on their journals, that it is proposed that Article I, Section 26, of the Constitution of Tennessee be amended by deleting the following language: That the citizens of this State have a right to keep and to bear arms for their common defense; but the Legislature shall have power, by law, to regulate the wearing of arms with a view to prevent crime. and substituting instead the following: That the citizens of this State have a right to keep and to bear arms for their defense. This is the problem with the Tennessee State Constitution: "... . Article 1 (.I think.), Section 26. Section 26 Text of Section 26: That the citizens of this state have a right to keep and to bear arms for their common defense; but the Legislature shall have power, by law, to regulate the wearing of arms with a view to prevent crime. ..". It's a post Civil War Reconstructionist addition... It's clearly unconstitutional. It will not be fixed until it's challenged in court. leroy .

The average gun enthusiast wants .gov to adhere to the second amendment as it was written. “Shall not be infringed” is a pretty simple concept to understand. There should be NO restrictive gun laws. There should be NO BATFE. You don’t need a poll for that. Leave us alone as the constitution requires. There is NO room for compromise. None!!!

As Wingshooter posted, it looks to be down for everyone nationwide... for now. The Armed Attorneys did a video on it. They go into more detail on where we are at with it now as the rule was invalidated due to bad behavior in rule making and not on constitutional grounds. Yep, those never go away. I get the distrust but to me and only me the benefit of having a permit and being able to carry in other states without fear of prosecution out ways the fear of being known as a gun owner.

Spoke to the FTB branch today. When building an AR-15 as a "pistol" first it is legal to reconfigure it as a "rifle". It is also legal to take that same "rifle" and return it to its "pistol" configuration from the "rifle" configuration. But during the swapping of parts no combination of parts can assmebled to create a NFA item. But, as always, if an AR-15 is a rifle first it will always be a rifle. You cannot buy an AR-15 as a rifle then turn it into a pistol. And just a reminder if it is a lower that is sold with a shoulder stock attached it is a rifle even if no upper is attached. Dolomite

I didn't see any, but the guys down there say the rattlesnakes don't rattle because the hogs like to eat them. I stepped on a rattlesnake a few months back in a different state. I handed it better than I expected. LOL
