His lawyers have filed a motion that the acquittal on grounds of self defense on the primary charge precludes the guilty verdict on that particular charge. There will be a hearing about having that verdict set aside at a later date. Personally, I hope it goes his way. It’s a good idea to remember that we are able to look at this with the full knowledge of who Cook is. Colie didn’t have that luxury in the moment. An often repeated mantra in the EDC/Self-Defense world is “better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6”. So that’s the situation he’s found himself in, getting judged by 12. It may be a little simplistic, but it’s good to remember that it’s essentially the choice he argued he was making in the moment. I think that the real takeaway for folks here is that you need to have something in your arsenal between a harsh word and a bullet.2 points

Cook played a game of FA and he FO. Colie was in a position of being advanced upon by two people, one of which was significantly larger and acting in a very confusing, undeniably aggressive and abnormal manner. He was retreating and voicing his desire for Cook to stop. Fear and confusion were evident in his voice to me on the tape. I believe the jury made the right decision as Colie was in a position of being on the negative end of a disparity of force equation. His belief of being at risk of great bodily harm or death I view as entirely reasonable.2 points

I own over a dozen P320's. I have managed to repeatedly coax several of my pre-fix guns to fire (I loaded them with primer-only brass for testing) just by rapping the beavertail on a rubber mat. Later, Sig announced they had replicated and confirmed the problem. I have since had all my 1st gens updated, and cannot get them to fire on their own. I trust them and carry them in a variety of configurations, provide them for my family, and recommend them (along with others) to my handgun students.2 points

This isn’t necessarily going to be a comforting answer - but for all intents and purposes - your dollar is already essentially digital in every way that matters. And, for everything anyone in this thread might be worried about - the Fed doesn’t need any new currencies to do any of that. But, on the flip side - I’m not the least bit worried about it. Why? For anyone who’s reading this, the dollar has been the global reserve currency for your more or less your entire life. While we don’t typically go through this exercise on a daily basis - the average American consumer actually benefits from this. A lot actually. There are a lot of countries (the BRICS countries specifically - but some others too) that would love to see that unlinked. This is the kind of thing wars are fought over. The system we have in place right now came into being towards the end of the last really big one. China is working on a digital currency. Their end goal is to replace the dollar. We’re absolutely going to do everything in our power to counter this - including developing our own digital currency. FWIW, when you see a story that’s trying to get you all spooled up about digital currency - and specifically trying to handicap that development - I’d encourage you to ask yourself what the teller’s end goal is. You don’t necessarily have to root for China to root against America - but the outcomes sure look similar.2 points

I'd be a hard pass on that, but I have a console safe in my truck. I rarely use it as it's a little slow to access. Basically, I use it only when I'm in a communist state like Illinois where you can't carry outside your vehicle and I need to stop for whatever reason. I try to plan my trips to avoid it.2 points

A beautiful and awesome browning BAR. Semi auto 30-06 rifle with a 4+1 capacity. One of the coolest possible deer rifles I could imagine having to be honest. Looking to condense my inventory to 5.56/223 wylde and this one has to go unfortunately. $1000 obo or trade for a fair quality AR, or really nice complete uppers. will especially consider 223 wylde uppers. will come with Nikon buckmaster 4-12x optic and 40 rounds of federal powershok.1 point

I have a gorgeous 1972 BROWNING HI POWER up for consideration. This gun show signs of honest use but retains the vast majority of the bluing and functions as a 50 year old browning should.1 point

JMHO: Cook not only deserved, but was in dire need, of a good azz whoopin'. But there were no grounds to shoot him. OTOH, Cook is a good bit bigger and just kept getting in Colie's face. I can see where he would be intimidated. Fear is a powerful motivator. My guess is that fear won out over common sense. I will say that if somebody was to get in my face like that, I won't shoot you, but I will make you regret it.1 point

I am a lever gun collector and connoisseur - I have a few dozen in my collection ranging from a 4-digit serial number Winchester 94 to a Marlin "Jurrassic Park" SSBL. I concur with what's been said above: pistol cal (38/357 ideally), 22LR a distant second only because when you pick up the ol' girl, you want to feel the whole experience. One suggestion I didn't see above... go with a side gate loader. Nothing kills the John Wayne feeling like having to reach up towards the muzzle to feed a magazine tube. You can't re-live the Western shootout scenes thumbing rounds into your lever gun behind a rock while pinned down by bullets and arrows when you're loading your lever gun like a Glenfield .22! You're local to me... come on over if you want to see and feel a representation of just about every lever rifle ever made since 1870.1 point

OP was asking about buying a Sig 320 I would have no problem buying one that has been thru recall or a newer version I had the original 320 and when it was voluntarily recalled I sent it back Sig had it back in 3 days. And stayed in contact the entire time Great customer service. Yes I would buy Sig products1 point

YES! I am very concerned about it. Though I do most of my bill-paying and make most of my purchases digitally, I still want to be able to use cash to buy certain items without fear of Big Brother knowing what I have. If the country were to go to full digital currency, then you and I would be entirely unable to buy a shovel or a hammer, for example, without Uncle Sugar knowing what we bought. I also worry that it would be really easy for someone to decide that I, a retired fellow, only need x number of gallons of gas a month, and simply deny a fuel purchase that I don't "need". Or perhaps someone might decide that I only need to shoot a certain number of rounds a month. I know that's a little bit foil-hat, but I still worry about it. Give government means to power, and it will exploit those means.1 point

This is news to you? I'm not saying it; Sig Sauer is saying it.1 point

If it has been through the recall is should be fine. Mine has accompanied me to the range many times. Has been drawn, shot, re-holstered and never blew my leg off. With that said, I don't drop my guns. Don't put my finger on the trigger unless planning to discharge it. Honestly, I feel less safe with a cocked and locked 1911 even in a good holster.1 point

Couldn't they just take the whole headrest out with the push of a button or a little force? Seems like a great idea that is terrible.1 point

Up for sale is a Glock gen4 Green Frame Agency complete build with jagerwerks slide. Comes with two original 15 round mags, and case. It also has a holosun he507c-gr green dot optic and a tlr7 streamlight with remote switch. It’s a sweet set up. It has only been test fired and is in great condition. It’s just been in the safe. If you want the best of the best Glock here it is. It’s has the best trigger I’ve ever used. I would be interested in trading for Aimpoint 3x magnifier, aimpoint Unity mounts, Trijicon Unity mounts, surefire ir light, rmr, sro, bcm green stock, ect. Price is $1400 cash.1 point
