  2. I am some better this morning, although sore in different places. What gets me is, when sitting and thinking about what happened, I realize, like most old men, my abilities are really waning. That is hard guys, as many know. I will survive, with Gods help and time, and need to think before I act from now on. Thanks for all the comments and well wishes, guys. Takes time, at this stage in life, to recover from our mistakes, don't it!

  5. David, you are wiser than I thought. Those are words of wisdom (for me). Going thru a journey of faith myself, and seeing that is a great help. And watching the outpouring of prayer for this family is a wonderful thing to see. I love it here. My wife thinks I'm crazy, and it's probable that the's right. But I find I get centered with the association of good men. It helps me see my life with a bit more clarity. There's a lot of those good men here.

  6. We had the latest blood tests done today. I had plenty of time to waste waiting for the results and ended up buying a really expensive kayak. LOL. Drinking to relieve stress was much cheaper. We got most of the results and it didn't register with us at first, but all of her results were within the normal range except 2. They were not a huge issue and barely out of range. The doctors have no idea what made it stop or why it stopped. It just did. Thanks again for all of you. I know she will not out live us, but we want to beat the odds and give her the longest life possible. She's good to go now until the next emergency. Next blood test was pushed back till October. I'm having a drink now just so my 3.5 other kids won't see how worried I was. I was q pretty good day.

  8. Just wanted to say how much I have enjoyed this forum over the years. I appreciate the work that is put into running it. I was looking at my profile and realized I’d been on since 2007. I’m not a tech guy and this is the only page I look at regularly outside of social media. Thanks again to TGO David and everyone else involved. Paul

  9. The gun was made in 2019 according to the stamp on the slide. It has less than a thousand rounds through it. I replaced the stock grips with g10 grips. I replaced the stock sights with Dawson Precision fiber sights. Otherwise the gun is stock. It comes with 4 magazines. The two with the gun were stamped ,40 cal and I bought two additional mecgar mags. I also got a kydex iwb holster for it. I would consider trades for pistols in .40 S&W. I am firm on the price and will want to see a TN DL or CC permit before purchase. I can meet in the Knoxville area. PM me if you are interested or have questions.

  10. I've come up with a written script that I've developed from studying SD law, and learning from the intelligence and knowledge of Massad Ayoob and Andrew Branca, and my own SD attorney. This is on the homepage of my phone, a printed copy around my carry permit, and a copy over my car visor. I'm presenting this here so you can have a such a script ready should it ever be necessary. Is it perfect? Probably not. Is it better than what you now have on your phone or in your wallet? Probably yes. If I make revisions (and I probably will as I gain more knowledge) they will be in this original post, not elsewhere in this thread. I hope you find this of some value. ___ Self-Defense Action - The Aftermath The 5 Elements of a Justified SD - Innocence, Imminence, Proportionality, Avoidance, and Reasonableness. FIRST - Call police. Give the address of where you are. Explain there's been a shooting. Medical needed for the attacker. Describe yourself as the victim. Give your description. Give a description of the attacker. Give the address again. Request medical for yourself. Stick to these facts only. Don't answer any questions from the dispatcher that do not strictly relate to the above. 1. When the police arrive, establish an active dynamic. Very briefly describe what happened to cause the shooting. "I was attacked, threatened, afraid of the three men running towards me while yelling," etc. 2. Indicate that you are the victim. "I'm the victim of an assault, and I will testify.” 3. Point out any evidence. Spent cases, dropped firearms, any edged or club-type weapons, cars, tire tracks, bullet holes anywhere, etc. 4. Point out witnesses, home security cameras, business security cameras, street light cameras, etc. 5. Now say you want to talk to an attorney. Request an attorney. Shut up until you talk to an attorney. Do not say you will meet with them after you've spoken to your attorney. Let your attorney do the talking for you. 6. Contact an attorney ASAP. If you have a Self-Defense policy, contact them ASAP. Say nothing about the SD incident to anyone—not the police, medical attendants, or relatives. Shut up. Only talk with your attorney. NEVER SPEAK TO THE MEDIA! DO NOT LIE! -- Any lie you tell will destroy your credibility. It's fine to say "I Don't Know!" DO NOT ASSUME! -- State the facts only. If asked "How many shots did you fire?" The correct answer is "I Don't Know!" If you say you shot 5 times but there are six holes in the attacker, you will be nailed. The majority of gun shooters can't tell you how many rounds they fired at the range. Do you think you have the wherewithal to count the rounds during an SD action? Also, you are not a mindreader. Don't presume to know what is in the attacker's mind. Report the facts, not what you assume is true. Your job as a SD actor is to stop the behavior, not render a diagnosis of the attacker's state of mind. Your assumptions of facts not in evidence can also drive nails into the coffin the prosecutor may wish to put you in.

  15. Time to move it along. This pistol is in outsanding condition. Bluing is bright and shiny. Barrel rifling is beautiful. Very tight overall fit. One very faint hairline scratch on left side of frame near front of trigger guard, barely visible to the naked eye, but it is there. Photo below is extremely zoomed in to show it. I have fired exactly 30 rounds through it. Unsure of previous count, but obviously extremely low. 23. I contacted the local Murfreesboro guy (Keith's Pest Control) that sprayed the house 15 years ago. He did an inspection and said he seen no evidence of termites anywhere under the house. He just left and said he would treat the house and spray for ants for 1,230.00. I showed him where ants were eating my hummingbird nectar. Our house is 100 ft by 34 ft with a large 1 car garage and large front porch. I feel that is a great price for the work rendered. He will treat it within the nest 2 weeks and spray again for ants. No carpenter ants this time.

  24. Very good advice, crc4. I have done a lot of study on this aspect of S D. Read several books and viewed CD's on S D subjects. I agree with most, if not all of what you posted. I am a member of Armed Citizens Legal Defense Net. (360-978-5200) for legal financial help should I be "forced" into a S D action to protect my family or me. I say forced because there is no cowboy in me, and I just have the great desire to avoid any situation where we may be in danger. ACLDN has a great training library, and many good benefits should you need their assistance. IMO, belonging to this group of likeminded members could be totally beneficial.

  25. Glad your starting to feel some better. Your spot on about thinking twice before you act, it's hard to admit that as we get older or go through health issues to act our age at some form when it comes to doing things we did in our 20'(I'm glad I lived through those "Bullet Proof" years). Take care.

  27. My prediction: These hearings will go on for days, maybe weeks. Tons of people will testify. Hundreds of questions will be asked. And in the end, the final report will read "Inconclusive".

  28. Rest up and get well. The thing that makes old men grouchy is sitting in your easy chair and thinking of the things that need doing. Your 20 year old mind says it won’t take long. But when you try to get up your 70 year old body says sit down fool where do you think you’re going. Gotta love it.
