Ok, so I finally got my Marlin 1894 in 44 Mag after waiting 70+ days. When it finally arrived, the stock was cracked and one of the tenons that interface with the receiver was broken off. If that happened before it was shipped (would not surprise me) or if it happened during shipping, the seller is basically non-responsive, so it is what it is. I was able to repair the cracked stock my injecting wood glue into the crack and clamping. I was able to glue the tenon back on as well. I then removed the poly finish someone added (it was even coating the butt-plate, unless that was the norm for Marlin in 1976) and went back with a hand-rubbed Danish oil finish. I really, really like a hand rubbed oil finish on walnut, as opposed to a poly finish. I may add a cross-bolt through the hand-grip part of the stock to strengthen the repair. I just need to figure out the pieces I want to use. I have put the rifle back together. I hope to shoot it soon, although I may wait until I decide on the cross-bolt addition. Now I need to line all the levers up again for a new family portrait.4 points

I've come up with a written script that I've developed from studying SD law, and learning from the intelligence and knowledge of Massad Ayoob and Andrew Branca, and my own SD attorney. This is on the homepage of my phone, a printed copy around my carry permit, and a copy over my car visor. I'm presenting this here so you can have a such a script ready should it ever be necessary. Is it perfect? Probably not. Is it better than what you now have on your phone or in your wallet? Probably yes. If I make revisions (and I probably will as I gain more knowledge) they will be in this original post, not elsewhere in this thread. I hope you find this of some value. ___ Self-Defense Action - The Aftermath The 5 Elements of a Justified SD - Innocence, Imminence, Proportionality, Avoidance, and Reasonableness. FIRST - Call police. Give the address of where you are. Explain there's been a shooting. Medical needed for the attacker. Describe yourself as the victim. Give your description. Give a description of the attacker. Give the address again. Request medical for yourself. Stick to these facts only. Don't answer any questions from the dispatcher that do not strictly relate to the above. 1. When the police arrive, establish an active dynamic. Very briefly describe what happened to cause the shooting. "I was attacked, threatened, afraid of the three men running towards me while yelling," etc. 2. Indicate that you are the victim. "I'm the victim of an assault, and I will testify.” 3. Point out any evidence. Spent cases, dropped firearms, any edged or club-type weapons, cars, tire tracks, bullet holes anywhere, etc. 4. Point out witnesses, home security cameras, business security cameras, street light cameras, etc. 5. Now say you want to talk to an attorney. Request an attorney. Shut up until you talk to an attorney. Do not say you will meet with them after you've spoken to your attorney. Let your attorney do the talking for you. 6. Contact an attorney ASAP. If you have a Self-Defense policy, contact them ASAP. Say nothing about the SD incident to anyone—not the police, medical attendants, or relatives. Shut up. Only talk with your attorney. NEVER SPEAK TO THE MEDIA! DO NOT LIE! -- Any lie you tell will destroy your credibility. It's fine to say "I Don't Know!" DO NOT ASSUME! -- State the facts only. If asked "How many shots did you fire?" The correct answer is "I Don't Know!" If you say you shot 5 times but there are six holes in the attacker, you will be nailed. The majority of gun shooters can't tell you how many rounds they fired at the range. Do you think you have the wherewithal to count the rounds during an SD action? Also, you are not a mindreader. Don't presume to know what is in the attacker's mind. Report the facts, not what you assume is true. Your job as a SD actor is to stop the behavior, not render a diagnosis of the attacker's state of mind. Your assumptions of facts not in evidence can also drive nails into the coffin the prosecutor may wish to put you in.3 points

Karl built this for me in 2005. If you're not familiar with Karl's work, he is one of the longest serving ABS journeymen Smiths working in America today. His work has featured many times in Blade magazine (iirc, he's had 4 front covers) & is absolutely ground breaking. He pioneered & popularized the take down system, now copied by many others. His work, even this old, is flawless. Check out his work at www.andersenforge.com Today, if you were to place an order for this particular hunter, you'd be looking around $700 & a multi-year wait. It features a simple 1095 blade, differentially heat treated, with a beautiful hamon that clearly shows the carbon migration. Hot blued single finger guard & take down nut, with stainless liner. The handle is exhibition grade desert ironwood, polished to a warm, dull & incredibly smooth sheen. I'm asking $500 dead firm for the knife, as I need to raise some funds, pronto. It has never cut a single thing & retains the original edge (which you could happily wet shave your marbles with ) It come with a sturdy, waxed leather sheath, takedown tool & (if I can remember where the hell I put it....) certificate of authenticity. Very serious inquiries only & offers NOT accepted. *some photos have been filtered to show detail better. Any marks you see are my sticky fingerprints.2 points

**Ad closed, decided to keep for now** Consolidating some of my high-end gear and listing a mint Kahles scope with the Sl1 reticle. If you've never looked through one before, the glass is incredible. This one is mint and has only been mounted to a rifle that sat on the safe. Includes original box, paperwork, lens cloth, and lens cover. Kahles K16i - Located in West Nashville, but willing to meet within a reasonable distance. PM me for a price with both.2 points

This is a Winchester model 12 - 12 gauge shotgun made in 1924. It has been reblued, so its not valued like the original. However this is a wonderful piece of history and it is in excellent condition. It has a full choke and beautiful original wood furniture. Just don't have enough room or I would keep it. Price reduced. Surely someone can use this. Price reduced 3501 point

**Price drop** I have a Walther PPQ M2 9mm for sale. This was originally purchased in the 4" version and I will include the 5" slide (fully assembled) as well. A blue magwell was added to the frame which can be easily removed with a punch to get the pin out and just slide it off. Two mag extensions are included too (blue). Both barrels have about 300 rounds through them each. If you are familiar with Walthers, you'll know the stock trigger is pretty crisp with a short reset. Ergonomics of this pistol are great and allows you to control the recoil in the 4" version pretty easily. Comes with: box (3) magazines (two with extensions) 5" slide (fully assembled) Backstraps Walther mag loader Purchaser must be a TN resident with valid ID and legally able to own a firearm. CASH ONLY. NO TRADES. Located in Sumner Co and travel around the state for work. Willing to meet up.1 point

Like new Staccato 2011 their newest model the CS. Comes with the flat trigger and carry size sights. Includes everything from the factory and has a Holosun 407k red dot mounted. Also includes a IWB kydex holster. These are extremely hard to find. Has only been shot once. Partial trades considered for other 9mm pistols, but I will be picky. $3250 North Nashville area1 point

I totally agree with you crc and I agree that land/property ownership and gun rights are two of the most critical rights that when lost basically indicate that you no longer live in any type of free or liberated society. The entire fractional reserve banking system through the unscrupulous policies of central banks (specifically the Federal Reserve) in kahoots with our Us Treasury has basically helped speed up the loss of property rights through extortion of the middle class and empowering the elite. Many people live recklessly and beyond their means which drives up the cost of housing and daily goods and then pay exorbitant fees to banks and are literally just leasing homes they probably can never pay off. I follow people like Michael Pento, Peter Schiff, Luke Gromen, Jim Rogers, Rick Rule, Ron Paul/Chris Rossini, Doug Casey among many other free market economists/investors/advocates. Schiff, e.g., goes into detail about how in the 1950s a plumber could afford a nice home in the suburbs, two cars, a stay-at-home wife, kids, and money to spare. Today you got two working people making over 80-200k a year who are renting an apartment and can barely pay their bills. It's like the government is setting it all up to bankrupt the middle class to empower themselves without having to fire one round or forcefully take one home, since everyone leaves voluntarily when they foreclose or go bankrupt. I will say that Libertarians should not support RFK Jr, but I am shocked at how some people I respect still think he is someone kind of liberty lover because of his anti-Covid vax interviews yet overlook the other fascist policies he supports. I generally don't like putting a label on myself, but I guess I feel I do have to identify with one mainstream group its Libertarians. But, I am a believer in minimal government overall. I trust very few politicians, even people in the Libertarian party.1 point

Well, I have to say that you did a great job with the repair. And, you showed a good attitude about it arriving damaged. I would have been sorely pissed.1 point

I bought this gun new when they first came out. I had the sights installed for like $150 and the 3rd mag was like $30. I think with transfer and all I probably paid $450 for the gun in 2014. So I probably have over $600 in it as it sits. I figure $350 is a pretty good deal. I’d be glad to talk about deals with some of the accessories I have for it. Thanks for looking!1 point

Apparently the frame is stainless. Unclear what the slide actually is made of. So will Holosun announce a "Chrome Red Dot"? That should bend a few minds. Don't even start me on the "Dark Side" finish and what lasers go with it.1 point

I just picked up my Stoeger Coach Gun at Academy Sports. It looks great. Wood is really good for a budget priced gun. Metal finish is slick. Forend and grip are checkered. Lockup is a bit tight but I suspect it will loosen up with use. $427 plus tax and BG check with an Academy 5% off credit card. Only problem is, Now I want a 20 Ga to go with it.1 point

It is stainless-ish color. A real hard chrome finish on guns usually comes in satin or polished, but neither is car bumper chrome. I think the Rival-S frame is cerakoted. If you see a Rival-S black or chrome, I would grab it - they are kinda hard to find. I’ve shot a couple and was highly impressed. They are not as tacti-cool as others if that’s ypur preference, but they are definite shooters straight out of box and a better value than several other recently hyped guns.1 point

I had a Scoped Marlin 336 30 30 I gave to my grandson. He sent me a pic of him sighting in the scope a couple weeks ago getting ready for fall dear season. We were down in South Carolina keeping them in June and I helped Parker get a John Deer tractor running and helped him bushhog several fields and work up a clover food plot. He got good rains and has a great stand of clover which he hopes the deer will like. He used Whitetail Institute clover seed for the plot. He has another good size field he intends to plant a little later in the fall. He said he really liked the Marlin. Who does not like a lever gun. I purchased a Henry Big Boy in 38 Spl/357 Mag about 15 years back and I have never looked back. Some have had problems shooting 38's in theirs, but my rifle has been flawless with both 38 and 357. I really like the Henry. I paid 750.00 for the one I purchased and feel it was well worth the price. I most probably have at least 2,000 rounds through the one I have now. Parker's mom (My last born daughter) made me promise to give her the Henry when I am through with it. She said it is her favorite gun that I owned. Never owned a Winchester lever gun and to be honest they are kinda scarce in the circles I run in. I don't go to gun shows any longer because I can purchase new cheaper than what most try and sell at our shows. Edited to add; You guys have some beautiful lever guns.1 point

I wish it was stainless and I would not be having this discussion. All I’m really asking is if the gun is worth a ####.1 point

Guns are in beautiful condition. Possibly have the original cardboard boxes for both. Both guns were made in the original Hamden factory. One gun is a lightweight model (brown grips), very rare. ($700) The other has black grips and is in almost new condition. ($620) Pickup in Thompsons Station, will only consider other High Standards as trade.1 point

You're correct. The one thing I would disagree with is that 'consistent' libertarians are NOT for RFK Jr. and understand that his positions are as fluid as the various groups he attempts to appeal to. Always watch for inconsistencies, lies, and, in RFK Jr's case, his appeal to popularity. Restricting and reducing government power, restoration of full property rights, free speech, and the natural right of self-defense are the mainstays of libertarianism. Property rights are the most important right and it takes the 2nd Amendment to enforce those rights. Giving up either is the short road to totalitarianism as we see has developed in America.1 point
