Outpost Armory sent me an add and they had 3 22lr semi auto pistols on sale for the holiday. I purchased the Taurus TX Competitor for 190.00 off regular price of 459.00. I figured any time one can purchase a handgun new, for about half the price, it might be good. The other brand pistols were Sigs in 22LR, I think. One with an safety and one without. The Taurus is drilled and It has a plate on the top for a red dot sight to be added. Also has 3 dot sight on it. The trigger seems to be good because I snapped it a couple times. Don't favor snapping 22s without ammo in them. I like 22 LR practice because the bigger ones is so expensive to shoot like I once did. I have a Sig Mosquito that has been flawless, and a SW 317 8 shot ultralight 22 Revolver that I have put 1000's of round through both. The Taurus should be a good addition as my 22s are getting most rounds put through them on a regular basis. They also had a Federal 22 Lr ammo on sale for 555 rounds for 29.95. My S-I-Law wanted 2 boxes and grandson wanted 2 also. I purchased 8 boxes, which I kept for me. Haven't had the time to get it outside because my range is wet. Will try it soon, I hope. Rain forecasted for every day this coming week.2 points

Eye-opening interview with RFK Jr. RFK Jr. interview with Reason magazine from the interview - On banning assault weapons, he said, "I'm not going to take away anybody's guns," but if a bipartisan bill to do so passed Congress, he'd sign it." That's the perfect progressive/loony tunes thinking that will have Democrats cheering after 4 years of Joey "Stumbles the Clown" Biden.1 point

The sheath on the right was requested by a gentleman a while back for an Esee 5. He wanted the scales dyed as well. While he was waiting he sent word that he had given his grandson the same knife and wanted one built for him too. Then he saw a picture of a holster I had made for a friend of mine with initials on it, so he asked if I could put his grandson’s initials on it. I said sure, I’ll do that. A little later he asked if I could do an arrow with fletching and a flint-knapped broadhead. I said well I’m not sure but I’m a-gonna try it. (Plum skeered at that point) So the sheath on the left is the one built for his grandson. The picture below is the grandson’s sheath in the raw with a little bit of design on the belt loop. I’m not the artistic type so it took me a while to do all that. There’s still some things I don’t like about it and I’d very much love to be able to improve on not only adding designs, but everything I’m doing. I hope he likes them.1 point

Less of a gunsmithing question and more of a story... So I'm a Mixed-Handedness person, some things feel better right handed, some feel better left handed... and although I shoot long guns right handed, I've always felt more comfortable shooting handguns lefty... which all my fellow lefties understand the struggles of what comes with that... swapping mag releases and what not... Anyway, even though most mag release swaps are simple, and anyone with access to YouTube can do most of them on their own, I always take mine to a gunsmith. I'd much rather pay the 10-20$ then risk something going wrong. Just like what happened today. As the smith was working on my swap, another employee came up behind him to ask him a question, which I'm assuming startled him a little bit because he flinched, causing one of the springs from the release assembly to launch clear across the room. About 2 hours, a broom, and some magnets later, the sucker is still nowhere to be found... As easy as the "oh I'd be ***** " comes to mind, I try to remind myself as much as possible that we are all human, and the exact reason I brought it in, is because accidents DO happen, even to the experienced gunsmiths. As I watched him trying to explain what happened, sweat dripping down his face, I imagined being in his position.. and to be honest I really felt bad for the poor guy lol . To make a long story not any shorter, on top of the countless apologies, they ordered the replacement parts and are doing what is necessary to fix the mishap. Maybe I could have done it myself... or maybe I'd be only one burp-sniffle-fart away the same thing happening to me, but I'd be footing the bill for the replacement parts instead of them.... *shrug* Only God knows... Happy Independence Everyone.1 point

I like the way he hammered TBI Director Rauch in Civil Justice Committee. I think he is going to be a big help in the House. Here are his thoughts on the Special Session and Red Flag Laws. (By the way he intends to run good legislation if the Governor opens chapters involving firearms}1 point

In one of your posts you have 8208 -8lbs $220x2 Does that mean you had 2 8 pounders? If you still have one and I'm eligible, I'd like it.1 point

Out of the 1/2 dozen 22 pistols that I own, the TX is the second cheapest (to a Heritage) and the most fun.1 point

Hi Y'all, I'm new to the forum and to the state of Tennessee. I just moved from California. In response to comments that I'm accustomed to getting when I introduce myself as a former California resident: 1. Yes, I will remember why I left 2. I probably will bring my politics with me, but they weren't that welcome in California, so it's good to be here 3. Yes, it's every bit as crazy as you've read...but fortunately I lived in one of the more moderate areas 4. While I may save money in taxes...I might be spending what I save at the gun store. Just don't tell my wife. Patrick1 point

Congrats @pop pop! I am seriously considering purchasing the Compact model, the model with the more rearward plate/RDS placement. Taurus seems to have done this one right. I think it'd make an affordable understudy to my Glock 19. Been reading good reviews here and on a couple of other forums. Being able to dryfire is a plus! Thanks pop pop!1 point

You probably read it on the entire internet and heard it from people that speak from experience, lol. I decided to change the extractor on my Ruger Mark II one time. Did it in the garage. Heard the noise tiny spring bounce off something close after it ejected. Ended up having to order a new one. Found the original 3 months later after cleaning up my disgrace of a garage.1 point

I can not remember where I read it, but if you take things apart things have springs, do it inside a clear bag. that way when, and they will, go flying the spring will not go far.1 point

You don’t loose springs. They vaporize. Owning a gun shop with an in-house gunsmith for 6 years. Upon closing the shop, we knew we would find a ton of springs. Nope, maybe one or two. There should have been a hundreds. If your gunsmith doesn’t drink brown water, smoke like crazy and cuss everything he lost a spring, be Leary of their talent. He passed in January and damn we miss him.1 point

Thank you for posting about this. We are in fact located just south of Murfreesboro on the county line. We currently have a manufacturing facility but are not set up with a store front in Murfreesboro yet. We are also veteran and family owned and operated. We currently manufacture 9mm 115gr with both New and Reman brass. We make all our of ammunition on a CAMDEX and all of our brass is roll sized, then pressure checked and processed on a CAMDEX also. We just did our first gun show this last weekend 6/24 & 6/25 at the Mid-TN Expo in Murfreesboro and it was a huge success. We are currently looking for a few more stores in Murfreesboro to stock our 9mm ammo. With the volume we are selling online it has been very difficult to keep up with demand. A lot of companies raise their prices when demand is too high, but not us! This business was started because we didn't like seeing ammo price gouging and wanted to be a part of the solution. We look forward to hearing more from you and always feel free to check out our instagram to see some cool behind the scenes stuff. https://www.instagram.com/borobullets/ Jason Boro Bullets jason@borobullets.com1 point

Her enzymes are below 1700 now. They were 3400ish. They should be 10-20, but they are much better. Liver inflammation has started to decline. Her kidneys are out of the danger zone and approaching normal. She started taking phosphorus supplements today, but other than that she's just getting her regular medications. Whatever made her immune system attacked her liver has apparently stopped and everything is trending back to normal. I'm not a religious person, though my Wife is...I really appreciate everyone's prayers. It means a lot. She was not expected to survive and we were told as much. My Wife is doing much better and feels like she can breathe however I'm probably going to be sleeping alone for at least a week. I get a bit unusual when I sleep after she has issues. It's always after though. Drinking always helped, but I have all but stopped that. Thank you everyone.1 point

Many years ago I had a small part go flying out of a pistol I was working on. Despite my best efforts, I never did find it and had to order a replacement. Some 8-10 years later we bought another house and I was packing up my shop. I moved and old rolled up target on the top shelf and guess what fell out? My current shop has a number of small items hidden in its neither regions. Including a 1911 recoil spring plug that I swear went through the roof and is now in orbit.0 points

I my youth, my group worked on an electron microscope among other electronics at UT. We used e-rings and springs so small you could just see them with normal eyesight. We called them “Jesus springs and Jesus clips”. One would fly off and we would say, “Jesus! Where’d it go!”0 points

Be Aware: An organization based out of Ohio has initiated a fear-based money grabbing campaign in the state of Tennessee, using the attached mailing, under the auspices of resisting Governor Bill Lee's Red Flag laws and is misleading the public by using the Tennessee Gun Owners name as their own. THEY ARE NOT US. We take offense at this and are investigating our legal options for shutting that entity down. In the meantime, please understand that TGO is not a lobbying organization and has never advertised itself as such. Any email or letter that you receive from someone purporting to be "Tennessee Gun Owners" and asking you to financially support their activism efforts is not us. They do not represent us, and we absolutely do not endorse them. John Harris, executive director at the Tennessee Firearms Association summarized the activities of these carpetbaggers best: If you are interested in supporting a legitimate ally of the Second Amendment with effective Pro-2A activism in Tennessee, we heartily endorse and recommend the Tennessee Firearms Association. You can establish or renew membership with them at the following link. Join or Renew in TFA - Tennessee Firearms Association Sample of the misleading letter being sent by these imposters:0 points
