Outpost Armory sent me an add and they had 3 22lr semi auto pistols on sale for the holiday. I purchased the Taurus TX Competitor for 190.00 off regular price of 459.00. I figured any time one can purchase a handgun new, for about half the price, it might be good. The other brand pistols were Sigs in 22LR, I think. One with an safety and one without. The Taurus is drilled and It has a plate on the top for a red dot sight to be added. Also has 3 dot sight on it. The trigger seems to be good because I snapped it a couple times. Don't favor snapping 22s without ammo in them. I like 22 LR practice because the bigger ones is so expensive to shoot like I once did. I have a Sig Mosquito that has been flawless, and a SW 317 8 shot ultralight 22 Revolver that I have put 1000's of round through both. The Taurus should be a good addition as my 22s are getting most rounds put through them on a regular basis. They also had a Federal 22 Lr ammo on sale for 555 rounds for 29.95. My S-I-Law wanted 2 boxes and grandson wanted 2 also. I purchased 8 boxes, which I kept for me. Haven't had the time to get it outside because my range is wet. Will try it soon, I hope. Rain forecasted for every day this coming week.3 points

Aka VZ38. Bought this at the recent Murfreesboro gun show. Made from 1939 - 1945. The Germans took over Czechoslovak right before production was to begin. The Germans pressed them into service as is without any additional stamps applied. Around 40k were made, mostly in 1939. Holds 9 rounds of .380 and is double action only. Many say it one of the ugliest pistols ever made. I think it’s fascinating. Been wanting one for years. Easy to break down and clean. Just push a little release lever forward and tilt the slide up. Slide then can just be slid off the hinged barrel. No little parts to lose while cleaning, a bonus on the battlefield. Took it to the range yesterday and it was a blast to shoot. Surprisingly accurate. Just like shooting a double action revolver.3 points

I'm with both of you gentlemen! I completely stopped shooting my Ruger MKII Target pistol and gave it to my dad. The TX-22 is a whole lot more fun and just as accurate. And so far, mine has not been finicky at all. Love Federal Punch, which I've seen other have an issue with.2 points

I’ve done that as well. I was able to temporarily use a spring out of a ball point pen. It wasn’t the best, but I was able to get the rifle back together.2 points

The gun was made in 2019 according to the stamp on the slide. It has less than a thousand rounds through it. I replaced the stock grips with g10 grips. I replaced the stock sights with Dawson Precision fiber sights. Otherwise the gun is stock. It comes with 4 magazines. The two with the gun were stamped ,40 cal and I bought two additional mecgar mags. I also got a kydex iwb holster for it. I would consider trades for pistols in .40 S&W. I am firm on the price and will want to see a TN DL or CC permit before purchase. I can meet in the Knoxville area. PM me if you are interested or have questions.1 point

Just took it to the range and fired it. It shoots really fine. Nice trigger and accurate although I didn't put it to paper. Just fired at steel. Think I am going to like it. Too hot to do much outside for now. Edited to add; Well worth the 269.00 I paid for it new.1 point

Keltec RFB 16" 7.62x51/ .308 Like new, One box of 7.62 shot then put in safe at 47% humidity. Gas piston operated with front ejection. Aimpoint Pro w/qd, and Aimpoint 3X Magnifier/twist release. Added grip tape made for the RFB, and a new muzzle brake. Ambidextrous, can switch charging handle to left or right for preference. It's time to buy my grandson a dirtbike, otherwise I'd keep it. One neat rifle. Asking $1700 obo. With Aimpoints. charlesyoung87@icloud.com In Hendersonville.1 point

There is no left or right ejection. The spent casings eject out of the front next to the gas piston adjustment.1 point

A Franchi in the fridge A Winchester by the window A Micro-9 in the microwave You know . . . I'm starting to think this is less a fun list and more of an accurate description of some TGOers' homes . . .1 point

I just revisited this thread and wanted to let everyone know that has read it what I did. I carried the handgun to Texas and we had a FFL transfer it to my son. It was Christmas time anyway so we had a nice visit.1 point

I believe the TX-22 is made so that it can be dry fired without damaging the firing pin, unlike just about every other .22 semi-auto or revolver on the market. Why can't I dry fire my .22 pistol or revolver? – Taurus USA1 point

I can not remember where I read it, but if you take things apart things have springs, do it inside a clear bag. that way when, and they will, go flying the spring will not go far.1 point

Jon - Gov Lee and McNally (among others) are RINO's. They claim to support the second amendment, but their interpretation of the second amendment. That may be my opinion only, so take it for what it's worth. Luckily, they are currently outnumbered by real conservatives, and I personally doubt Lee has the votes to pass his modified red flag law. We need a real conservative to run against Lee and boot him from office. Then we can get a replacement for McNally who is an unelected official. I moved here five years ago, and never regretted the move at all. Would have done it sooner but work kept me where I was. Impossible to say what's best for you, but I'd suggest you take a look at East Tennessee and see if it fits what you're looking for.1 point

You nailed the part that keeps sticking in my head: I can carry a sharpening stone anywhere and the places I'd need to sharpen my knife the most won't have electricity. LOL1 point

I my youth, my group worked on an electron microscope among other electronics at UT. We used e-rings and springs so small you could just see them with normal eyesight. We called them “Jesus springs and Jesus clips”. One would fly off and we would say, “Jesus! Where’d it go!”0 points

I was installing a part on a neighbor's AR-15 a few months ago and sent his buffer detent spring flying. I felt like an idiot and replaced it with one out of one of my rifles. I found it later that night stuck to a magnetic strip above my workbench.0 points

Be Aware: An organization based out of Ohio has initiated a fear-based money grabbing campaign in the state of Tennessee, using the attached mailing, under the auspices of resisting Governor Bill Lee's Red Flag laws and is misleading the public by using the Tennessee Gun Owners name as their own. THEY ARE NOT US. We take offense at this and are investigating our legal options for shutting that entity down. In the meantime, please understand that TGO is not a lobbying organization and has never advertised itself as such. Any email or letter that you receive from someone purporting to be "Tennessee Gun Owners" and asking you to financially support their activism efforts is not us. They do not represent us, and we absolutely do not endorse them. John Harris, executive director at the Tennessee Firearms Association summarized the activities of these carpetbaggers best: If you are interested in supporting a legitimate ally of the Second Amendment with effective Pro-2A activism in Tennessee, we heartily endorse and recommend the Tennessee Firearms Association. You can establish or renew membership with them at the following link. Join or Renew in TFA - Tennessee Firearms Association Sample of the misleading letter being sent by these imposters:0 points
