  2. Well I've seen some "custom" front sights grafted on V models over the years or cut up from an original so I wouldn't declare it a custom gun just by that but clearly that's one thing that sticks out to me. If I recall there should be an S stamping on the frame, perhaps under the left grip panel, that is to say the left side if you are pointing the gun away from you. I believe it could also be on the frame under the cylinder crane but don't hold to me that one. I'm going from what I remember reading. That won't indicate a barrel modification just that it was sent back for modification at some point. Some of these guns during that time frame were sent back for barrel swaps, re chambering , etc. As to dating it I would need more of the serial number and should be able to get you closer. You can PM me with it as opposed to disclosing it here.

  3. I see a CMP tag I think. If so, what grade is it? If it’s service grade, tell us about how many parts are Springfield? You are in Nashville, borrow someone’s throat erosion & muzzle gauge plus the go/no go, and field gauges. Knowing all this will make a quicker sale.

  4. I guess I just don't like the ATF. They could offer me free full auto machine guns and id still find fault with them.

  5. At this point in life, my old SW 41 magnums. The 3” Lew Horton (657) is about as cool as it gets. Someone had it ported.. poorly done IMO. So, it’s sitting at SW now, hoping the estimate to replace with a new non ported 3” barrel doesn’t break the bank

  6. Well that solves the mystery of why the IRS was buying up all the guns and ammo a while back.

  14. Hmmmm. I live in Christiana with a Murfreesboro address and haven't heard of them. Their address shows them to be in Bell Buckle down the road from me a bit in a rural area.

  17. Sportbike Track Time still does the events at Nashville Superspeedway although it looks like only one this year (a couple weeks ago). They also have lots of events at the Talladega Grand Prix. CMP is also and option, Carolina Motorsports Park, near Kershaw, SC. Fast Line Track Days does events at NCM Motorsports Park in Bowling Green KY. In fact they have and event there this weekend. Looks like Midwest Track Day used to as well but they may have closed up shop now.

  19. Yep! I can remember back several years ago that the Feds were buying a big amount of 357 magnums and thousands of Hollow point rounds of ammo to begin arming the IRS agents. It was back in the Obama years in DC. I guess now we know why for sure.

  20. The records will go to the ATF because once the shop goes out of business, it’s records get shipped to the ATF. That said, while a good forensic accountant can likely suss out the details of any accounting shenanigans going on here, I suspect. that it’s a lot harder to hide the inventory moving in and out when it is on 4473s.

  21. That is one of the dumbest things I've heard him say and he gives us plenty of examples to pick from. He doesn't have a clue about what he is talking about.

  22. This one stinks. While I'm not disagreeing with Grayfox54, above, I have to wonder why the 4473s were taken when the warrant said financial records, and why the ATF was there. This means to me that those records are going to ATF and will stay there, either originals or copies or electronic copies. Despite laws to the contrary, Im convinced the Feds keep gun owner records. Not entirely off topic, heres an interesting article about these laws in general. https://crsreports.congress.gov/product/pdf/IF/IF12057/3

  24. In a year, $1,000,000 would simply be $2,739.00 per day. That's not at all unreasonable for a gun shop in my opinion. That's just gross sales, by the way.

  25. As an owner of a 509T, I will say 3 things: 1. They're great guns, reliable, accurate, and have a nice feel in the hand. 2. IMO there's way too many parts internally that could fail, i.e. the rear sear assembly. For better reference please look up an exploded parts diagram. 3. Best multi optic system in a stock pistol. I tried multiple optics, and they all held zero.

  29. This is wild to see how coveted this has become. I used to be in food and beverage. This was always $65 a bottle without a case break. My how the times have changed. What spiked the popularity? I understand it’s incredibly good bourbon but what was the tipping point that made this so popular? The derby and the little horse on top? Or is it just hipsters from Brooklyn who sparked the newest “every bar needs two mid-tier old fashioneds trend”?
