  1. When buying I always add the phrase "pending actual inspection" when negotiating a deal. Some years ago I worked out a deal for a gun on Armslist and when we met, I found it wasn't in near as good of condition as the pictures suggested. I turned it down and the seller went absolutely ballistic! Cussed me up and down screaming "We had a deal!" Well sorry, but I saw it as his fault for misrepresenting the gun. OTOH If I'm selling, have worked out a deal and someone else offers more. Sorry the other guy was here first and I'll honor my word.

  2. I was taught at an early age that my word was my bond. I live by that to this day. The interent has not changed that nor will it ever. However its my opinion some out there take advantage of the anonymity the interent provides and act accordingly.

  3. Hi Y'all, I'm new to the forum and to the state of Tennessee. I just moved from California. In response to comments that I'm accustomed to getting when I introduce myself as a former California resident: 1. Yes, I will remember why I left 2. I probably will bring my politics with me, but they weren't that welcome in California, so it's good to be here 3. Yes, it's every bit as crazy as you've read...but fortunately I lived in one of the more moderate areas 4. While I may save money in taxes...I might be spending what I save at the gun store. Just don't tell my wife. Patrick

  4. I read recently on here about someone complaining about a buy that didn’t work out. While I do think that just someone replying asking about it doesn’t rise to the level of an agreement, there are situations where when a trade/sale is negotiated, a time, date and place are agreed upon, that does meet the criteria I think of a gentleman’s agreement. It’s like a virtual handshake was effected. Then if the person withdraws a few hours later, due to a better offer, in my old school moral set, I think that’s dishonest or at least ungentlemanly, which, either way, seems to not mean as much these days. I’m not upset that much about the deal not proceeding, but am saddened by this happening on here, albeit from a pretty new member. Still lwarning at my advanced age, LOL. Anyway, no hard feelings, I just will be a little careful about looking at length of membership first. And no, I’m not outing anyone or calling anyone out, just venting.

  5. I have a Fal/C1A1 semi auto rifle for sale. The rifle was built from a Canadian military issue rifle on a metric Imbel receiver. I bought this for my father almost 20 yrs ago in Knoxville at Coal Creek Armory they are closed down now. I have 3 20 round magazines that come with it. The rifle accepts metric magazines. My dad wanted wood furniture, I bought him American Walnut, i finished the stocks for him. The rifle was built by Arizona Response Systems very good gun smiths. I recently shot a 20 round mag through it no problems. Have a video if you want to see it, I would like 1400.00 for it or OBO.

  7. Most everybody on this forum seems to be pretty ethical. More so than most places in my opinion. You will still run across a squirrel every now and the on though. My hat’s off to the moderators here who do a spectacular job ferreting these folks out in short order! I reckon that’s why they make the big bucks.

  8. Good for you! That's a good deal! LOL. A friend of mine loves them. TripleGGG is a very nice person. Only met once and was impressed with his friendly manner, knowledge, and just generally being a nice person to be around and listen/chat with.

  10. Had it happen to me on here several (many) years back. Decided I wanted an M1A a young man had posted on here. Decided I’d take it, communicated that fact to him (clearly), had the deal all worked out (I thought), and whaddaya know - surprise, surprise. Some business owner swooped right in there at the last second, after the deal was supposedly set in stone, and wooed the young feller with no telling what and I found myself flapping in the breeze. Never did file a complaint or leave any feedback at the time. Didn’t figure it would do any good. Sure left a burr under my saddle though and only increased my skepticism and mistrust of people. Thankfully I believe the VAST majority of folks on here to be honest and upright. Any time I have done any actual buying or trading on here, every single man I’ve dealt with has gone above and beyond. So don’t be discouraged. Most on here will do to ride the river with.

  18. Thanks to generosity of @TripleGGG I am happy to pay this item forward. He gifted me both a wireless and wired unit, I went with the wireless. This one has wire, power unit and flags. I can attest this method of containment is effective - set the collar on full blast and my German Shepherd learned quick. Per @TripleGGG this unit worked when he put it in his garage. Collars are available from Pet Safe, Amazon and most pet supply retailers at no difference in price. Able to meet in Greater Knoxville with trips to Chattanooga, Tri Cities and Middle TN, though not for 60 days or so. Pm or text eight six five nine one nine thirty-nine oh nine

  19. Ultrasonic cleaners are amazing. I used them in our fuel injection rebuild shop. What they could do with a set of nozzle tips was unbelievable.

  21. I would encourage you to leave a negative feedback. Not to be a pekkerhead, but to let everyone else know what they’ll be dealing with. That’s how this type stuff gets weeded out.

  22. Again, thanks for the ‘heads up’. The seller is headed toward Norris Lake next week and passing thru Knoxville. So it will be a F to F off I75 north.

  25. 1. Are you a TN resident? 2. Are you legal to own a firearm? (Not a felon). I usually just ask, "are you at TN resident? and you're not a felon?" The ID and everything after that is unnecessary. You will get strong opinions about the extras and the methods but the above is all that is required by the letter of the law. Personally, I will do no more and no less. I understand Bill of Sales, but out of principal, I will not participate in those transactions.

  27. Having moved from the west a few years ago there are some things. Lack of public land. There is no millions of acres of BLM or FS land you can wonder on for days. Most hunting is done on private land. If you don't buy some acerage, you might have a difficult time. It is crowded. The days of spending days in the wilderness and not ever seeing another person are long gone here. Deer hunting is stupid easy. At least where I live (north central) I can't go start my car in the morning without shoving deer out of the way. You may be used to planning your deer hunting trip all year, take 2 weeks off work. Go set up camp for opening day, spend all that time in the wilderness to get your one lucky shot to fill your one-deer-a-year mule tag. In TN, it's not like that. You can shoot like 4 a does a day and they are much smaller white tail deer so filling the freezer, if that is your goal, is as simple as walking out on the back porch and nailing one, hang it, butcher it and be done. Kinda takes the fun out in my experience. License, this is the neat thing. If you are on your property, no license or tag required. Simply check the season dates in your area and have at it. No need to buy anything other than ammo. Lesson here is buy as much land as you can. There are places like LBL and Fort Campbell in my area where you can get on public land but there are restrictions to short range, muzzle loader, archery and the like and there will be other people around. Sometimes, lots of people around. Tennessee is not as gun friendly as others would have you believe. You wonder into any metro area with a gun in your back window, expect to have a talk with the local police. Nothing like living in the west at all where that won't even get a second glance. Range time. Like hunting, there is no going off on some corner of public land and shooting. This will also be met by local police/Sheriff with a frown on thier face. I know this one first hand. Again, buy a large chunk of land off in the county away from any metro and choose one with good back stops. Distance shooting. There are no 300-500 yard deer shots here. The forrest is too thick. I have never shot a deer past 75 yards since I have been here. There will be no need for a scoped belted magnum. Your experience may vary, but this has been mine. That said, I do like it here much better than the high plains desert of the west but set your self up in your plans and property searching.

  31. FOLKS... BE WARNED AND BE AWARE! The conversations shown above are actual messages that some of our members have received via Private Messaging from people who are attempting to scam them. These are just a few examples. The routine is almost always the same. Someone with a new account and low-to-no post count will message you privately about something you posted in our Trading Post forms, and either tell you that they know someone who has the item you want to buy, or that they know someone who wants to buy the item you are selling. REPORT ANY SUCH MESSAGES TO THE MODERATORS, IMMEDIATELY! Again, these are just examples and not every person who contacts you about your ad postings is going to be a scammer, but you should always trust your gut instincts. If something seems fishy, there is no harm in reporting it to the Staff before you take any further action. We are always glad to investigate for you! Be safe out there!
