  1. I am a fan of old hunting rifles. Just something about them that always appeals to me. This particular rifle you do not see very often. They were made from 1961 to 1973. I was able to find a first year production. Judging by the serial number it was a late first year. It came with an old Leupold scope. I think I am going to take the scope off and use the iron sights first. I might put a better scope on it a little later. So what rifle did it buy.....a Winchester 100. It is a semi-auto .308. Looks like a Ruger 10/22's big brother. Now for the pics....

  7. Ended up with close to 25k miles on that bike in the last 12 months, about 4k on a different bike in the same time span. I have a short trip, 2000~2500 miles, planned with the wife this fall and a couple shorter solo trips planned for the rest of the year as well, ~1500 miles each or so. I was supposed to go to Nova Scotia and Newfoundland this year but that got delayed so I will probably try to fit that in next year. This trip to the Southwest was the replacement for that postponed trip. It is hard to get in all the trips I want to take in with only 3 weeks of vacation.

  8. Generally, if you're outside city limits, have a good (earthen) backstop, and know what's down range, you're good. The county sheriffs office can confirm. Expect noise complaints and a visit from a deputy most any time you shoot.

  9. When I moved to TN four years ago I stopped at the local Sheriff's office and asked the same question. They told me that I can shoot on my own property (20 rural acres.) I regularly shoot out behind the barn, but before I began I spoke with my nearest neighbors, all of whom also shoot on occasion. The guys on this forum are a great resource, but speaking with your county sheriff makes more sense than taking the word of a stranger on the internet.

  10. This thread is exactly what they want. Just by talking about it, he's getting more attention than he otherwise would have. Politicians on both sides are going to start throwing out ridiculous things to try and grab more attention from the media as the race heats up. Buckle up. This amendment will never happen.

  11. Maybe call the sheriff’s office where you intend to buy? There isn’t any state law against it.

  15. P08 Luger 1939 4 digit dated marked military luger. Luger is a 1939 Mauser (42), great condition. At least 90% original finish left, this isn't a rebluded one. Luger is mistmatched, only mismatch part is the toggle train but the toogle train completely matches(16) and is a Mauser commerical banner toggle as well. Be a great shooter/collector piece if you plan on matching it. Follow the link for more pics of all the parts, etc. $1650 1500. No Trades https://imgur.com/a/bjMGK2k

  16. Looking to get a new bike with cruise control. Otherwise, I would have loved to keep the kat. 1000cc's of fun and well maintained. Full service and battery in march and new pirreli tires last year. 8700 miles and counting. Only after market parts are the turn signals (ordered from Japan since I hated how the stock ones stuck out). I did add oem heated grips to the bike as well. Asking 9k

  17. Hi Everyone. It has been a while since I last posted anything here. I hope all is well with the citizens of Tennessee. I am a gun owner. As much as one can be in NY on Long Island. And I am looking forward to retirement (6-7 years from now) in Tennessee. Right now I am looking for recommendations on where to live so I can start my research and trips to TN to explore and investigate etc.. I am hoping to purchase some property (10+ acres) and build a house and have a little 100 yard gun range, enjoy some peace and quiet. Maybe grow a nice size garden and play the occasional round of golf. I have decided to start looking around the Knoxville area. I don't necessarily want to live in Knox County but maybe in one of the counties surrounding it. I understand that Knoxville has a very good hospital and that is a key factor as I (and my wife) age. So I am looking to you like minded people of this forum for recommendations, advice, suggestions, fact and figures, etc. to help with my investigation. PS I am also not looking to bring "change" to Tennessee. I am looking forward to adapting to the way of life of a Tennessean.

  18. According to Branca, the intentional display of a weapon to modify someone's behavior could be classified as aggravated assault. Essentially, presenting one's firearm should met all criteria necessary to shoot someone to prevent serious bodily injury and/or death. The mere presentation could result in a felony charge of aggravated assault. Simple defense of this charge can cost thousands of dollars and at worse several years in jail.

  19. I have one in 284 that came to me from my dad when he passed. I found out there was a recall on the firing pin, apparently they would break and go full auto? If yours hasn’t been done they still support it. Google the recall and it will give you a contact number a lady will look up the serial number and send you a new firing pin. The only bad thing is they make you send them the old one first if I remember correctly.

  20. Sure. I've only been able to ride the gas bike a few times but I'll share my initial thoughts. I had a really hard time letting the E bike go. The Talaria felt like riding a really fast mountain bike. It's light and nimble and overall just easier to ride for an inexperienced rider like me. If I got in a jamb I could just pick it up and turn it around. It was incredibly fun. The biggest downside is that they are made in China. I was concerned about long term reliability. Range was a concern too but I could have picked up a 2nd battery. The Honda is 70lbs heavier. It's harder for me to load on my hitch hauler, harder to ride, and feels more like an actual motorcycle. That said, I'm sure this will get easier with time. I'm enjoying shifting gears and learning a clutch. It has better suspension than the Talaria. It is also made in China but still has Honda's reliability. It also has twice the range. Most people report getting 100 miles or more to a tank. If money were not a consideration I would have kept the Talaria in addition to the Honda. I hope to have another one someday. Overall, both are a lot of fun and I enjoy riding in the woods much more than pavement.

  21. Our very first stage this year will set the sentiment for the entire match: Stage 1 honors CPT Trevor Graves. Co-founder of the Legion Memorial Run N Gun. Deep conversationalist (in five different languages!) and enthusiast in so many varied subjects it was impossible to keep track. A guy with truly big ideas who poured his heart and soul into making each one happen - usually at a frenetic pace most of us struggled to keep up with. In this stage: react to an attack, work at an insane optempo, improvise adapt and overcome on the fly, shoot from a moving vehicle, and partner with actual Green Berets to overcome the enemy.

  25. People are looking to push buttons. Unless you are like those lawyers that came outside with an AR and his wife alongside him holding a handgun like a limp dick, you're prob ok. With open carry, people, because of all the anti-gun propaganda and woosies from non-carry state, there may be some problems. I know around here most people can care less. Even the cops really don't care. Closest thing I can think of as brandishing would be lifting up your shirt to purposely to expose it OR if you wear it exposed, (3 sides visible, open carry, etc.), pulling a Barney Fife and resting your hand on the grip. Otherwise, it depends on the situation... IMHO of course.

  27. Are you inside the city limits? If not, I expect it is perfectly legal to shoot on your property as long as you have a positive backstop. You may have neighbors with noise complaints, however.
