  1. When I last had a BG check, I noticed the form has changed to reflect that while cannabis is legal in many state jurisdictions, it remains Federally banned.

No telling what these have seen over the years. located in Memphis. HCP please. $800. Memphis area code 3five1 92 71

  4. Got my H&K SP5 out yesterday and finally installed the Flat Trigger Pack in it that I've had for awhile. Wasn't to bad, but had just a little trouble getting everything lined up just right to reinstall the ambi safety and get them to rotate back to normal. If you don't have the Saftey Lever Holes lined up just right it won't rotate, took me one attempt to get the orginal one out and four attempts to get the new one lined up where the safety woukd rotate back to lock everything in place. Feels pretty good, very little creep and breaks clean, now to try it out with some ammo.

  5. I voted to legalize pot in Washington, thinking that doing so would remove the criminal element from the trade. It didn't work that way, though, as illegal pot became easier to get and less risky for the sellers. The legal pot is available EVERYWHERE. There are stores in every small town, so if a person wants to be legal they can go and get their dope there. But that dope is taxed, and the business have overhead that makes the legal stuff considerably more expensive than the illegal stuff. So the illegal stuff is still there, and arguably more popular than ever. You can safely carry black market dope without fear of arrest since it's indistinguishable from the legal stuff. The instances of driving under the influence increased significantly in Washington, too, after marijuana was legalized. If I had it to vote on again I would vote against legalization. That law of unintended consequences is a big one.

  6. Recreational pot smoking is no worse than recreational drinking. In fact, I'd argue that alcohol is worse for the body in just about every measurable way. Eventually people will realize it doesn't make sense to criminalize it any longer.

  7. As much as I think recreational drug use shows poor judgement, I don't care if others do it. However, I do believe all employers should be free to run a drug-free workplace if they choose and some jobs should still be forced to require employees to be drug-free even it becomes legal.

  8. Had to take a drug test yesterday for new employment. Personally, I'm in favor of legalizing Mary Jane. And hope that once enough states legalize it, so will the Feds. The war on drugs has been a huge and incredibly costly mistake. But I know that's a minority opinion around here. I'm okay with that.

  9. I do enough federal work that I couldn’t smoke/ingest cannabis even in a legal state.

  10. Meh, I can see that. While I don't think cannabis should be illegal, I agree that until it is, it should be treated as the law prescribes.

  11. I got up a little earlier than normal because Rosie was barking at something and could not go back to sleep so I made my way to the coffee pot. I looked out the window while pouring my coffee and quit in the middle of it to look at all the Hummingbirds I had fighting over my feeders. I would guess there was between 12 to 15 birds fighting and a couple where actually feeding. I finished filling my cup and then just sipped coffee and watched birds till there was only a couple and poured a second cup and went in to get dressed for the day. I sure hope they stay for the summer. I went out yesterday and sat for about an hour and had 4 birds show up a couple times.

  22. I'm retired from federal service. After the state of Washington legalized marijuana one of the guys in my division was seen smoking on a golf course. He lost his security clearance immediately, and since he had no security clearance I had to fire him. I sure hope that was worth it to him.

  23. EVs use regenerative braking to slow the car. In a Tesla you can opt for "one pedal driving" where the car applies .2g of de-acceleration via the motors when you let off the "gas pedal". The .2g is similar to lightly applying the brake. While you an still use the brakes in an emergency situation, for normal driving they are not required. Once the car is completely stopped, the hydraulic brakes are also activated automatically to hold the car in place. If the car is on a low traction surface when using one pedal driving, the car will automatically use a mix of regenerative braking and hydraulic brakes. Since the brakes are rarely used, they last a lot longer. Full self driving cars often still have 80% life on their brakes at 150+ miles. Note - Older Teslas do not have regenerative braking and it cannot be retrofitted. All current models do regenerative braking. Belts, hoses, spark plugs, transmission (and associated drive train components) don't exist. One thing that does exist (that might surprise you) is that the Tesla's have a regular 12V car battery that needs replacement. The 12V battery maintains power for critical systems when the main battery pack is damaged or disabled. It powers the hazard lights, airbags, door locking and unlocking operations, as well as other critical components. The 12V battery also ensures that electronics are “awake” and listening to the keyfob in order to automatically lock and unlock the vehicle based on proximity. It also allows the car to maintain its cellular connection for remote access when the rest of the vehicle is powered off. If the 12V battery happens to fail, it will isolate the main battery pack from the car and prevent charging. This is a safety feature designed to help protect first responders in the event of an accident.

  27. 12 gauge loaded with slugs. Put the first shot into the shoulder to cripple and slow him down. I read a book about bear attacks some years ago. Bears don't like people and generally try to avoid them. Most attacks occur when the bear is busy with something else, not paying attention and the human surprises them. Make noise when you move, sing, hum, do anything to alert the bear to your presence.

  30. In my opinion, the best pocket rocket is the one you will actually carry and practice with on a regular basis. So ammo for practice needs to be affordable, carry ammo for testing and carry should be attainable, the size should be comfortable enough for you both for shooting and for carry, and a good holster for your preferred carry method should exist. Any other concerns come second. There's been a ton of good options over the years in small sizes many of which have been mentioned already. If you can find a place with your top contenders to rent, that'd be ideal.

  33. OK...re; Sabaton and res308's comments. For me, ARLINGTON just tears me apart. First time I heard it, I admit I cried. The song is so strong on family and service it is just amazing. Now for Sabaton. I was not prepared for this much of a reaction. I got chills and hair standing on my arms immediately. Totally fantastic! I loved it so much. The vocals remind me very much of a South African Singer...Steve Hofmeyer. I would love hearing him sing that first Sabaton song. I'm going to hit his FB page and suggest it. Steve's voice has a bit of raspiness similar to the Disturbed singer on his rendition of Sounds of Silence. I was just listening to u-tube music videos when I ran across Steve singing Barry Sadler's Ballad of The Green Berets. I was 17 and very impressionable when I first heard Barry Sadler. I was taken in immediately by his voice and lyrics. He's still one of my favorites.

  36. Correct. I sometimes focus too much on pistol buying and not the carry side of things. As such, I have several choices on my fav carry...a Galco OWB for my Shield Performance Center. I've tried several different holsters and forms...leather vs kydex, IWB Vs OWB. But this is my current choice. I won't comment on the ammo, as I tend to use my stock of various HP ammo. I haven't done a lot of extensive testing, as perhaps I should; but usually Hornady Critical Duty. If I feel the need for more powerful ammo, I have a few boxes of Buffalo Bore left. We all should get together for a holster swap meet! Might help us out.

  37. Here's the thing. IF they pass this, they know its illegal, they know the State is going to take them to court and they know they will lose. That means lawyers that the tax payer will have to pay for. How many thousands of tax payer dollars are they willing to spend just to make a stupid statement? Its a complete waste of time and money.
