  1. As a former police officer, I NEVER worried about losing my job, or even a suspension - from having a negligent discharge. Y'all seem to think that cops are highly trained with weapons. That is far from the truth. Most cops ONLY shoot during qualifications. Does that standard suck? Yes, but it's a reality.

  3. Her enzymes are below 1700 now. They were 3400ish. They should be 10-20, but they are much better. Liver inflammation has started to decline. Her kidneys are out of the danger zone and approaching normal. She started taking phosphorus supplements today, but other than that she's just getting her regular medications. Whatever made her immune system attacked her liver has apparently stopped and everything is trending back to normal. I'm not a religious person, though my Wife is...I really appreciate everyone's prayers. It means a lot. She was not expected to survive and we were told as much. My Wife is doing much better and feels like she can breathe however I'm probably going to be sleeping alone for at least a week. I get a bit unusual when I sleep after she has issues. It's always after though. Drinking always helped, but I have all but stopped that. Thank you everyone.

  11. These people are full of #### and the cops are blaming the gun rather than their own incompetence. Hard stop. Do you know who Bruce Gray is? Bruce is a master gunsmith and owner of Gray Guns. They have a very heavy focus on Sig Sauer firearms at Gray Guns and he knows a thing or two about the P320 and about how to test things. He recently did an exhaustive test on the P320 to see if it could fire out of battery. It cannot. P320 out-of-battery testing - Grayguns This video also addresses the recent ridiculous claims.

  12. So, I'm going to briefly veer into the political just to back everyone off the cliff a bit. Bottom Line Up Front - there's a *ZERO* percent chance this becomes law. So now the details - roughly from memory - I can source it if people are interested. These proposed "cuts" are part of Kevin McCarthy's bill last week to use as a part of the negotiation in raising the debt ceiling. It calls for a $130B cut to non-defense discretionary spending below 2010 levels (which was the high-water mark if you will) by 2033. If you look at the federal budget like a pie - it's divided up into three major pieces: There's a big chunk that's "mandatory" spending. This is defense spending, entitlement programs like social security and medicare, farm subsidies, and veteran pensions. This is sort of a third rail of budgeting - that is there is law surrounding it - so it's not a part of the annual appropriations process. This is roughly 70% of the federal budget. Then there's "defense discretionary" - these are all kinds of military-related projects that fall outside the DoD's budget above. These are the weapons programs, ship building, raises for the military, etc. This was about $800B last year - or roughly 15% of the budget. Then there's "non-defense discretionary" - this is everything else. Education, transportation, and homeland security all fall into this category. Veteran's healthcare sits here as well. This is likewise about 15% of the total budget. This is the part they're willing to play with. To get to the levels proposed above you'd need to cut all of NDD by about 22%. Take VA-healthcare out of the mix and you'd need to cut the rest of it by about 58%. This is not a serious proposal for a lot of reasons. First and foremost - McCarthy can't get 218 votes amongst his caucus to pass it. For what it's worth - I doubt he can get 218 votes on anything budget related as there are some members of the caucus that seem pretty dead set on voting against any raising of the debt ceiling. Second, this is a non-starter everywhere else. Even when the GOP has been in power, they haven't even been able to come anywhere close to meeting these kinds of cuts in the past. They know this - that's why they're not proposing specific cuts or a path to get there. I could go on - but I'm going to step back out of the political and just reassure everyone that this isn't something that has any chance of becoming law in the immediate future. I do find it interesting that the VA is messaging like they did above. Call your representative, I guess. Two more notes on the way out. First, remember that the debt ceiling has nothing to do with future spending. It's about paying the note on debt that past Congresses have already incurred. Second, my prayer is that one day our country does at least as good a job of taking care of our veterans as it does making new ones.

Includes original box, paperwork, lens cloth, and lens cover. Kahles K16i - Located in West Nashville, but willing to meet within a reasonable distance. PM me for a price with both.

  19. Hey TGOers Like new Shadow Systems cr920 for sale. This one is a later model with the upgraded bronzed(?) barrel to eliminate reliability concerns with early models. Has been 100% reliable over 500 rounds. Comes with mags, vedder iwb, and factory case. Great shooter, fits in my g43 holsters (YMMV) and nice hi viz front sight. Hate to sell this one but need to fund another project. Asking $550 firm, ftf middle TN, HCP flash required, will not separate, higher feedback gets priority. Thanks, V

  20. So MDA (Moms Demand Action) fund and organize several large protests and of course the "news" finds "concerned moms" to spread lies on the TV footage but why no counter protests? Watched Channel 5 put some gal on last night that said "I have to register my car every year but you can go buy guns any time you want with no back ground checks of fees" Um, last time I bought one it sure needed a back ground check and $10 fee to the state so that was a bold face lie. Besdies the fact that her car is a priviliege and guns are a right. Sadly, many will believe her. If I lived closer to Nashville I would have been there. We so need a well spoken, well presented group to counter this BS less Tenessee will fall to an anti-gun state.

  21. Hey TGOers, Yes I know you probably find this rifle ugly. With that out of the way, lol, putting my favorite budget rifle up on the chopping block. PSA 16" rifle, magpul furniture, vortex strike eagle LPVO 1-6×24, radian raptor CH, LaRue trigger (light spring), mlok rail with olight odin and tapeswitch. Includes 1 magpul mag, no ammo. Rattle can paint job (price lowered accordingly) has no effect on function. I've had this beast running 100% for over 2 years now (couple thousand rounds). Hits consistently at 200yds with very little work on my part. Asking $650, will not separate, ftf in Mid TN, DL or HCP flash required, higher feedback will have priority. Thanks, -V

  27. I respectfully disagree, and I am sorry for the pain and suffering that person endured, but that was caused by her. I can only speak for myself, I do have enough sense to NOT: -Have hot coffee in my crotch area in the car or where ever I might spill it. -Have my hand or fingers in front of my pistol when firing, and expect the manufacturer and range to pay for the medical. -Return my handgun to my IWB holster with my finger on the trigger and expect it not go go off. -Step in front of a moving train and expect them to stop. -Drive up to Chick-fil-Lay on Sunday expecting service -Expect to ride a roller coaster at Dollywood knowing the belt/retaining device will not go across my big belly -Apply as a waiter at Hooters -Expect equal playing time for my kids on a basketball squad when they can't make a goal -Urinate on a electric fence and expect the land owner to place signs warning me. -Buy into the political statement that is gaining traction everywhere that "gun" violence is a thing And on-and-on. As for me, and me alone, I will keep growing my common sense and not expect others to pay for my incompetence. -

  32. With respect, you don't know what you're talking about. That elderly woman was severely injured, spent 8 days in the hospital, needed skin grafts, and never once asked for a dime more than she was owed for medicals and lost income for her daughter providing care. McD's offered $800. It was discovered McD's was intentionally keeping the coffee dangerously hot (180-190F) because their studies showed most customers drank it after they got to their office/wherever and they wanted it to still be hot then. The woman initially only wanted $20K to cover her hospital bills. She and her lawyer tried multiple times to get them to settle at reasonable amounts. They refused. The jury awarded her $160K in compensatory damages for her medicals, loss of quality of life, and her daughter's income who had been providing care. The jury then stacked $2.7M on as punitive damages. Her daughter said much of the money went to pay for medical bills and a full time live-in nurse until her death 10 years later and that she had very poor quality of life from both the injuries and the toll of the trial. I wouldn't recommend that as a get rich tactic.

  33. If it's genuine then I have no problem with it. From many I get the impression that it's just lip service. Why was no one thanking me for my service in the 80's? Because it didn't become a "thing" until the 2000's.

  34. Thanks for looking those up! I believe that was what I was thinking about. Hinting Coyotes at night isn't allowed. So I can only assume that discharging a firearm at night is also not permitted, unless in self-defense of course. Thanks again NoBanStan.

  36. One of the places I look is ILya's (tongue-in-cheek "Dark Lord of Optics") website "Optic Thoughts": https://opticsthoughts.com/ His day job is in the optics industry, it seems primarily with defense-related stuff. His website has recommended optics (riflescopes, binoculars, spotting scopes, etc.) in a variety of price ranges that he periodically updates. Current Riflescope Recommendations: https://opticsthoughts.com/?page_id=623 His YouTube channel (Dark Lord of Optics) videos contain a lot of reviews & theory info, but typically aren't very "exciting".

  40. Only statement to make is, "He attacked me, there is his Knife/Gun/Weapon, he/she is a witness, Sir I will file a complaint against this man for attacking me, I was in fear of losing my life so I fired out of self-defense, Say to Police officer, Sir you know how serious this situation is so "I need exercise my 5th amendment right and I need an attorney". Say NOTHING else about the case, period. Expect to be detained and hopefully you have some type of "Self-defense insurance", because you are going to need it really bad. My wife and I are members of the Armed Citizens Legal Defense Network, (360-878-1975). Call them and they will talk to you. "Very Reasonable cost." I don't work for them but do have "some" peace of mind should I be forced into a bad situation. Pray I will never need their services. I consider this cost the same as homeowners or health insurance. My advice, "If you carry a gun, you need it."

  43. As a combat wounded 'Nam Vet, I waited 40+ years before someone thanked me for my service. It took awhile to get used to that, but now I'm grateful to hear it. Even little kids. Shows it came from the parents. Am I surprised by any cuts the Feds make? Not in the least!

  44. Hmmm, I've seen VA benefits increase quite a bit since I got out of the Corps, and with the budget crisis I think that it makes sense for every part of government to accept some cuts. 22% seems a lot, though. Doesn't it seem strange that a government agency, the VA, would publish a press release like that? It does to me. I would think that government agencies would follow guidance from congress without taking their individual cases to the people. That release seems calculated to stir up the vets, doesn't it? The VA, the Army, the IRS, the DNR etc. are not supposed to try to influence policy, they should follow it. (I know that's complicated.) But the fact is, somebody is going to have to make some tough budgetary decisions. We simply cannot keep on spending ourselves into a deeper and deeper hole. But, man!, it isn't easy to do. I ran a group of about 100 people as a Navy civilian before I retired. I can't begin to write an account here of how hard it was to try to reign in spending. People wanted their overtime, and would go to great lengths to assure themselves of it. There's a LOT of fat that could be trimmed from the federal budget. And by the way, I am always embarrassed when someone thanks me for my service. I think I got by far the best of the trade for my time in the Corps. I learned a trade that carried me throughout my entire career, got GI bill benefits, and got preferential hiring for my civilian Navy job. I've been thanked enough. The nation absolutely owes a lot to vets who were wounded in combat, and I'm glad they get the benefits they do. But I do have a bit of an issue with paying lifetime benefits to someone who was injured playing basketball during their off-duty hours.
