First good day shes had since this started. We are doing blood work every other day. Her enzymes are down to 130-140 times normal. Liver inflammation numbers up slightly. HLH came back negative. They have absolutely no idea whats causing it. They are not treating it for fear of making it worse. All the tests have contradictory information. She had the same type of issue a few years ago, but her immune system attacked her blood instead of her liver. The only thing they did was several blood transfusions until it stopped. My Wife looks better today. She feels like she can breathe again.2 points

If I'm not allowed to feel safe enough to leave My belongings in MY car, on MY property, they thugs shouldn't be allowed to feel safe not to get shot at. Judge me if you like, but I worked hard for my stuff and I do believe it's worth more than any thief's life.2 points

As far as going armed during the day. If I go out side for any reason including to just sit on my deck and watch H Birds I am armed. Anytime I am in the house I am no further that a few feet away for a weapon. I even got my Marlin 60 /w optics and went out back and went through a full tube of ammo to make sure the scope was still on. I hit 10 out 10 poker chips at 30 yards. I reloaded it and came back in the house and put it on the Rifle Rack. I know a lot of folks snub their nose at a 22lr but I have total confidence in 22lr's.2 points

This is a nice JM Marlin model 336 R.C. made in 1967 so no cross bolt safety. It is chambered in .30-30. The wood is in very good shape and the bluing is still strong. The bore is shiny, and the rifling looks sharp. It has had a sling stud added to the stock and there is one on the fore end band. It is missing the front sight hood. It currently has a Williams Peep sight attached. I am asking $800 $750 without the peep sight. If you want the peep sight, $850. $800 $750. I have decided to keep the peep sight for my 44Mag. I can post photos without the peep sight if wanted. Located in Nashville, for sale to folks 21 and older who can legally own a firearm. TN license or HCP flash. More photos upon request.1 point

As a kid the first handguns I remember seeing in my family were a couple of Bearcats. My cousin had one and later my step dad had one too.Fast forward nearly 50 years and I found an original Super Bearcat in great shape. It only took the first trip to the range with my daughter for her to claim it.She’s going into the Air Force in September so I’ll keep it safe for her1 point

I can’t tell you much about Lake Fontana and fishing but Fontana dam is most impressive. It’s the tallest dam in the eastern US with a fantastic view of the mountains. The only bad thing about it is getting there…you’ve got to tame The Dragon.1 point

You need to take a trip through the gorge by boat. It's a awesome sight. Read about the history of Haletown before you go and then check out the old power house by the Hales Bar Marina. There is a lot of interesting history there. There is also a cave (fenced off, can't go inside) you can go to by boat near the dam that has a endangered species of bats. There is a water front restaurant in Chattanooga you can go to by boat that's pretty good. I think it may be called scotties but not sure about that. It's been several years since I've been there. I'm pretty sure Hales Bar Marina has a restaurant. I know they did 17 years ago when I brought a boat from Chattanooga to Ky lake. I docked there the first night.1 point

I lived close to Fontana for several years. Never fished it. Pretty lake. The dam and spillways are an engineering marvel. I know a lot of people from East Tennessee would make the trip over to Fontana to fish. There are also several other worthy lakes downstream from Fontana. I always wanted to fish Calderwood, if for no other reason than the solitude, I've heard it's difficult to fish because it gets deep quickly and there is supposedly a lack of structure. I've also heard of giant lake trout coming out of there. If you are making the trip might as well hit up Fontana and Calderwood.1 point

Deputies said that he also admitted to closing his eyes while he shot because he was scared and shooting as the suspects ran back to their car. I guess the side that says to repeat “I was in fear for my life against armed assailants, lawyer”, “lawyer”, “lawyer”or some form of that wins this round. No opinion either way but the fact that he admitted to police to having his eyes closed jumped off the page.1 point

Mac is right about these just being political games. But don't think funding for veterans programs will be safe from cuts. Just hope they are logical ones as time changes the mission. Everything in federal programs comes back to head counts. The VA Healthcare system is still supporting a lot of Vietnam Era Veterans, but eventually that generation will reduce in VA Healthcare enrollees through natural passing (hopefully after long and happy post-military lives). So, when the VA is around to serve the numbers from the all-volunteer era which had a huge drop-off from the Vietnam years, there will be tough choices about how much infrastructure to keep around in terms of hospitals and clinics...especially in distance between facilities. The cuts may look huge on paper, and will be harder for some locations than others. It would also be a decent time for the government to start thinking about how to use the healthcare system at-large for veterans services through a Medicare/Medicaid/TriCare type program where they just reimburse physicians and facilities in a fee for service model. They started this with Veteran's Choice, but that was for delays and to a lesser extent distance, not a going forward transition. It can certainly be done for a lot of things veterans deal with. For those more specialized disabilities, I would think opening military hospitals is an avenue to explore. I've never seen a Wounded Warriors Project effort in action that wasn't fundraising. That may just be my lack of visibility, however. Their CEO since 2016 who came in to help clean things up after the issues surfaced was the Brigade Commander of 3 BCT; 101st ABN DIV while I was supporting that unit off and on in Afghan and Iraq. He was an alright guy back then, hopefully he still is. I do know that if you want to make sure your charity dollars to veterans causes has a good impact, The Fisher House Foundation is still doing important work, as is the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. So if you want to consider any of those, your money will be well spent. Way less advertising from both, so the impact of every dollar into their programs and not their marketing is more. Here's the thing. IF they pass this, they know its illegal, they know the State is going to take them to court and they know they will lose. That means lawyers that the tax payer will have to pay for. How many thousands of tax payer dollars are they willing to spend just to make a stupid statement? Its a complete waste of time and money.1 point

Hum, so in your eyes the lifetime of pain and 2-surgeries that I've experienced from me herniating a disc in my back because the Marine Corps didn't think E-2s deserve any help in moving their family for duty shouldn't be compensated because it didn't happen in combat? How about the PTSD that I acquired by having an E-6E "Intruder" blowing up so close to me that I sustained 1st-degree flash burns on my face? It was also NOT combat-related, but I would have died had that plane not come from El Toro, and been loitering in the area - depleting its fuel before the explosion and its crash. Or the damage to my sinuses sustained when an officer ordered me into the area of the burning wreckage of that crash without ANY protective gear or training to secure the area and search for survivors? I don't deserve my 70% rating for the PTSD because I didn't get it in combat? That's a BS thought process you've got there. On another note, being thanked for my service makes me uneasy because no one was thanking me from 1982 to 1986 when I served.1 point

Hmmm, I've seen VA benefits increase quite a bit since I got out of the Corps, and with the budget crisis I think that it makes sense for every part of government to accept some cuts. 22% seems a lot, though. Doesn't it seem strange that a government agency, the VA, would publish a press release like that? It does to me. I would think that government agencies would follow guidance from congress without taking their individual cases to the people. That release seems calculated to stir up the vets, doesn't it? The VA, the Army, the IRS, the DNR etc. are not supposed to try to influence policy, they should follow it. (I know that's complicated.) But the fact is, somebody is going to have to make some tough budgetary decisions. We simply cannot keep on spending ourselves into a deeper and deeper hole. But, man!, it isn't easy to do. I ran a group of about 100 people as a Navy civilian before I retired. I can't begin to write an account here of how hard it was to try to reign in spending. People wanted their overtime, and would go to great lengths to assure themselves of it. There's a LOT of fat that could be trimmed from the federal budget. And by the way, I am always embarrassed when someone thanks me for my service. I think I got by far the best of the trade for my time in the Corps. I learned a trade that carried me throughout my entire career, got GI bill benefits, and got preferential hiring for my civilian Navy job. I've been thanked enough. The nation absolutely owes a lot to vets who were wounded in combat, and I'm glad they get the benefits they do. But I do have a bit of an issue with paying lifetime benefits to someone who was injured playing basketball during their off-duty hours.1 point

The 7mm Mag. is a fine caliber but bullet weight is limited. For me the 300 Win. Mag. was a better choice for reloading. More variations of bullet weight can be used in this caliber.1 point

Guys/Gals be careful when you go outside at night or at the early dark hours of the morning whether you are going to take a smoke outside your house or just getting some fresh air. We have always had these burglars hitting neighborhoods where they pull on door handles trying to find one unlocked and then steal things. Here lately we have been getting footage from car and home owners of these burglars doing the same but now some are ARMED ! We had one where there were 2 burglars , one was pulling handles and the other stood by as an armed look-out. A homeowner got a signal from his camera showing that it had been triggered. He went outside and saw the burlgars. One shot him in the shoulder but thank God he ended up alright. That was last year. Here is a recent picture from a camera showing an armed burglar holding a pistol while pulling on handles. Bottom line , be careful when you go outside in the dark and make sure you lock your cars and dont leave anything in plain sight. I'll try to attach the picture below.0 points

What city is this in? In my neighborhood in West Knoxville, we just had a woman assaulted at 4:15 in the afternoon while she was walking. The offender hasn't been caught yet. My wife walks the same path. Not a good feeling.0 points
