  1. Been working on this for a while, finally got it to my liking. These are all AR500 steel and self healing(ish) rubber that I made from some stall mats.

  4. I'll say this, too. I bet there's not a Pilot, Flying-J, Loves, or local Citgo manager that doesn't rethink their life choices when they see a "coming soon" sign go up within a 20 mile radius of them of any major interstate. I bet they update their resumes, too. Buc-ee's seems to pay better than about anybody out there. I stopped at the one in Crossville recently and a lady at the pump beside me came out with an application. She told her husband/partner that she could better than triple what she was making at their local gas station just 25 miles from there.

  6. This is an Italian made 1954 Beretta Model 1935. It is in very good shape for its age. It has matching numbers and does not have any import marks. It includes one original magazine and a leather holster. The holster is old but not Italian. $500, located in Nashville. For sale to persons 21yo and legal to purchase and own a firearm. TN DL or HCP (preferred) flash.

  7. Individual stall rooms. White noise generators. I’ve never been in one where there hasn’t been at least one person in there cleaning. Their restrooms are obviously a choice that they’ve looked at from a business perspective and said, “yeah do more of that.” And then they’ve taken that same dynamic and applied it every to literally every single thing on the property.

  8. Thanks all, I try to get over there at least every other month to stay somewhat sharp but not always easy with 2 kids. Luckily they've taken interest in shooting so we can occasionally get some family time in.

  20. There is little doubt that he did do a considerable amount of planning what he was going to do. His Manifesto provides that. He was smart enough to purchase all his firearms from individual sellers to avoid back ground checks. I have made the statement several times and I will make it again. "Just because a person is crazy does not make them stupid"!!! He went prepared to do much more damage and killing than he did. The one thing he didn't count on was 1 single police officer being nearby being prepared to do his job. The officer was a blessing and a hero.

  22. I’m as bad with flashlights as I am with guns. Maybe I’m just afraid of the dark? Lol. Anyway, I carry a Streamlight stylus Pro in my shirt pocket EDC, since I try to minimize weight when I can, plus no room to comfortably carry in pants pockets or belt. Anyway, I just recently got my Olight Warrior 3S and I like it. It’s stays in my go bag most of the time. I also have a Nitecore MH12 I like in one room, and a LAPolice Gear Tactical Operator L1 in another room. I’ve apparently lost my Fenix PD35. I’ve been looking at a Fenix TK20R V2.0 that has 3600 Lumen in a pocket or belt size. Anyone familiar with this one? Side note, all of these program differently, so the smart move would be to have one brand, but then, I’ve never been accused of being overly intelligent, lol.

  23. That is my favorite trail in the state. I've done it 5-6 times in the last 10 years. Years ago, Big South Fork was not that popular. There would be times we would go hiking and not pass a single person. We would let our dogs run off leash and they loved it.

  25. Yep, been to each of those places too, and you are right, they are amazing hikes. Other one in BSF that is fantastic is the Honey Creek loop. Back at Cumberland Gap, the 3 day backpacking trip along the entire ridge is on my bucket list.

  26. I'm convinced the massive number of pumps at Buccee's is to allow you to pull up to a pump, get gas and then just stay parked there while you go in and leisurely shop. At a place like Love's, you feel rushed to move away from the pump to let the line behind you pull in for gas. A buddy and I stopped in the Crossville one a few weeks ago after a weekend backpacking trip to Virgin Falls. Virgin Falls is one of the most beautiful places on the planet. It's absolutely spectacular, but Buccee's was one of the highlights of the weekend for my friend.

  28. Anyone think I would regret buying this? https://powersports.honda.com/motorcycle/trail/crf125f-big-wheel Apparently both kids and adults ride this model. I'm 5'8 160lbs. There are lots of YouTube reviews from adults who enjoy this bike. It's a 4 speed with a clutch. Fuel injected. Drum brake in the rear which I don't love. Kawasaki makes a similar model with slightly bigger engine, 5 speed, and disc brake in the rear but it's carbureted. I know both make great engines.

  30. I stopped once in Crossville to see the spectacle. Impressed, confused, overwhelmed, and underwhelmed all at the same time. It's like Walmart, Disney, and Mapco had a confused baby. I can't wrap my mind around a tourist stop gas station.

  34. If you head south on I-65, there's one not too far south of the TN state line at Athens, AL. The brisket sandwich is great for gas station food and I would rate it good in general. Bun is a bit thick and too much BBQ sauce for my taste. Of course I have high standards for brisket as Shaffer's is local. The beaver nuggets remind me of corn pops cereal with a very thin coating of caramel. I wasn't overly impressed with the bakery, although the fudge is very good but expensive at $3.73 per piece. You can buy a box and get 6 for the price of 4. The best thing I had from there (by far) is the honey roasted cashews. My son (more of a foodie than I) said it was fun stopping by, but would not go out of his way. Texted me later and said he'd changed his mind as the jerky was worth a trip back. Regular gas in this area is $3.15. Bucee's was $2.79. My biggest gripe was the traffic. Getting in and out is bad enough, but the parking lot is ridiculous. Most of the people on foot don't even look if there is a car coming. My advice is avoid it on the weekends. I talked to one of the guys at the checkout for a bit and he said it's a lot less crowded (but still busy) on weekdays.

  37. Things we can all be doing in the wake of these events: 1. Calling, emailing, writing our lawmakers to encourage them to hold the line in the face of mounting pressure to punish good people and reduce their abilities to defend themselves, while doing absolutely nothing to stop bad people from committing evil acts. 2. Getting civilian medical training. Stop The Bleed and PHTLS (Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support) training classes are out there and some of them are free or low-cost. You're statistically more likely to use a tourniquet in your life than you are to need to use a gun. 3. Getting defensive handgun training. The "training" that you are required to receive in order to get an enhanced carry permit in the state of Tennessee is utterly worthless. We are immensely fortunate in Tennessee to have so many well heeled training providers within a half-day drive of us. Go beyond the basics and become very proficient with your handgun. 4. Adapt your EDC to the sort of things that are becoming more common in our society. Learn how to use a tourniquet and carry one with you everywhere. Invest in a small individual first aid kit (IFAK) that goes beyond bandaids and ointments, and carry it with you everywhere. Pick a gun that you can actually make a critical shot with under duress, train to do that, and then carry it with you everywhere. 5. Get your ass in shape. Run, hide, fight starts with running. Can you? No? Get your ass in shape. Get involved in self-defensive combatives like Jiu Jitsu or Krav Maga. Getting in shape while you beat the #### out of people and people beat the #### out of you is way better than walking on a treadmill at the YMCA like some sort of human hampster. 6. Commit to keeping your attention OUT of your cellphone when you're in public places. You can't run, hide, or fight if you're dead because you were popped in the dome while surfing Facebook on your phone, oblivious to the transexual ANTIFA soy-boy coming up alongside you, dressed like a mall-ninja, aiming a Kel-Tec at your melon. BECOME AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS!
