Normalcy bias always amazes me. The person in that car, not the one filming but the only one near the shooter, barely reacted. They could have plowed over the shooter or simply sped off like that truck but instead they just slowly drove forward. I'm really sick of this. Our country is broken.2 points

Well today is a good day. Meet my new girl Siggy, she & I will likely be joined at the hip whenever I’m out and away from home now. Like a few others here, I think the days of pocket guns are getting behind us as our Country is changing and safety has always been paramount to me. God, Family, and Country are not bad words here and the Constitution is absolute where I come from. Siggy is fresh from Sig Sauer Custom Workshop and is a Beautiful young thing that’s warm to the touch with the Cocobolo grips and has a “fully adjustable trigger for pull weight, over-travel and a trigger shoe that is removeable and adjustable for length-of-pull”. It is my hope that once calibrated to my preferences that I can make her ring the gongs on my range as fast as a Ma Bell 1970’s phone. She does hold records the world over as the fastest firing handgun. This is the only firearm that I’ve ever purchased that came in a factory combination locked, velour lined hardcase with a collectible coin. I imagine in a deep dark factory somewhere there is a vending machine that only accepts these coins & spits out Sig accessories like a gumball machine. I never planned on buying a handgun that cost more than both of my stainless desert eagles combined, but also if I’m getting a new side piece- I don’t want to be the guy who goes out for hamburger with steak at home. I’ve got a delta point pro on the way that she’s already cut for of course and that should make a neat contrast dot to the factory green front fiber optic iron sight. Osprey global makes a nice compact rechargeable underbarrel green laser that they lifetime warranty, just like the Leupold Delta point for it, so I expect her to be around for the long haul. It’s times like this that I really do think happiness is a warm gun [Sig Sauer P226 X-FIVE CLASSIC]2 points

@BigK I've installed those Law Folders and interact with DD products often. I have seen a DD with a burr straight from the factory. It was in the rear takedown pin's detent spring hole. It stopped the takedown pin from being held in place, so the upper and lower disconnected unintentionally. Contact DD or bring it in to a LGS/gunsmith to look at. I'm at Outpost in Franklin most days and would love to take a look if you want to confirm your suspicions.1 point

I thought about starting a new thread but then thought maybe OP and others might benefit from my experiences with lights. I got my Olight Warrior 3S and charged it up. Side note, since you could not mail the battery back with the recalled Warrior, I kept it for a spare with the new light. I confirmed with Olight and it’s the same battery. Seems like a well constructed solid light, very bright. Couple things I don’t like: while it has a tail cap button switch, it also has a side switch as well. Programming seems obtuse. The instruction sheet wasn’t very clear to me how to simply do it. I probably just need to search the internet for other users ideas. Also, I would have like a beam focus adjustment like some of my cheaper lights have, I.e. Atomic flashlight. All in all though, I’m happy with it so far.1 point

Knoxville are Kia dealership. Great experience, service department was friendly and professional! Aired up the tire, "sir, when you replace your tires, have them look at that valve stem." Also appreciated the transparency with the maintenance inspection, status of brakes, wipers, keep on your radar items1 point

The Great horned Owls have returned to the back acreage for nesting, hear them hooping it up in the early hours. Red tail hawks are on patrol over the fields again. Life is good.1 point

Got enough feed to last till next week then it will be over till fall. Have 2 male hummingbirds for now.1 point

Everything stated here is right on target. As a therapist I have had to read and clinically process manifestos and various writings of persons before and after their death. You never get a well written, well documented "reason" for what the person did. 99.9% is illogical because it is wrapped in the reality of the writer, which only they understand. As to releasing this information, it has two results. It makes a lot of hurting people who are already asking "Why?" hurt even more because there is no comprehensible answer. Second, emotional healing is like a cut; over time an emotional "scab" forms over the heart and soul. When a great deal of ambiguous information is released it tears the "scab" from people who are suffering in unimaginable ways, and they have to start the healing process all over again . . .1 point

I have had the same comments. This past winter I spent a TON on wild bird food, but the joy it brought me has no price on it. I work from home doing teletherapy three days a week and am in the office two. My office is at the back of the house with two large windows that face the back yard and my feeders. To watch the doves cluster, the Blue Jays come and go, and Cardinals and Wrens pass by brings a lot of joy while I am talking with folks. The Bluebirds have returned to my Bluebird box and they are fascinating to watch coming and going.1 point

Have you checked Crossroads Firearms on Broadway? Also try Smokey Mountain Gun Works at the intersection of Asheville Hwy and Govenor John Sevier Hwy?1 point

On the contrary, it would be true even if @RED333 didn't repeat it. Sexually mutilating children and flaunting sexual deviance in front of small children should be so obviously wrong that it doesn't require a law, but some people are so sick that laws have to exist to stop them.1 point

As someone who’s read a bunch of manifestos over the years professionally, I can say what I’m about to say with absolute certainty. Whatever it is that anyone is hoping to find in the shooter’s writings - you're going to be disappointed. You’re not going to understand it - because there’s nothing to be logically understood. You’re not going to find a reason - because the reason was this person was terribly broken in a way that we don’t - and can’t understand. The manifesto is a red herring - allowing politicians to distract people by calling for their release. There are a lot of reasons not to release it. One, like @Snaveba mentioned above - they contain a lot of truly graphic stuff that serves no public good by its release - and may take the trauma victims have suffered and make it worse. Look at what Sandy Hook parents have had to deal with for the last decade, and you’ll understand why they don’t want it released. But second, and more importantly we don’t release manifestos because there are broken people out there who that stuff *does* inspire.1 point

They banned the sale of new guns Nobody was stupid enough to try to confiscate those already out there. And there are millions of these rifles already in circulation. Always remember, its was the British attempt to confiscate the colonist's firearms that started the American Revolution. It could happen again.1 point

I planted our garden today, except for the pepper and tomato plants. It’s supposed to be down in the 30’s tomorrow night. I’ll probably plant those Thursday. First time I can remember planting without being drenched with sweat. We have had an actual spring this year! It has been nice. Good luck to all the gardeners on the forum!1 point

Not entirely correct. Carry laws are the sole responsibility of the State. (TCA 39-12-1314 ) The change you refer to has to do with a lawsuit Knoxville filed. To circumvent the suit, if the City wants to prohibit carry these procedures are noted by law to be legal TCA 39-17-1359(g)(1). These laws were to prevent a patchwork of varying laws across the state. Memphis has to follow this as well. As noted previously, school functions take precedence in public parks across the state1 point

Bought one of those slabs of salmon at Costco today. Looked up a recipe to smoke it on the Pit Boss. Did a salt and brown sugar dry brine for about 3 hours (supposed to be 24 but I didn't have that kind of time.) Washed the brine off after about 4 hours and put it on the smoker "low and slow" for an hour. IT WAS FANTASTIC! First time I've ever smoked salmon before and it will definitely not be the last. Do any of you have any good rubs/brines/smoking ideas for fish?0 points
