I believe the punishment for thievery should be so severe it becomes all but non-existent.4 points
-
As I said, I live in this reality, but that doesn't mean we blame the victims, it is the thieves that are to blame. We need to stop using their talking points, they just want to control us, through removal of Constitutionally protected rights.4 points
-
Have to disagree with you there, I should be able to leave it on the dashboard with the window down and still find it when I return. That doesn't mean I did anything wrong, it is the thief that is wrong, all day long. Now, I live in this reality, so I won't do that, but the premise stands. If they don't want us to leave our weapons in our vehicles, then maybe they shouldn't have so many no-gun zones. But as it has been said, ad nauseam, it isn't about safety, it is about control, they want us disarmed the entire time.4 points

It is a very biased term with only one goal, the eradication of guns from society. It also implies that other forms of violence are acceptable or otherwise cannot be controlled.3 points

Well, at my age I dont ride fast in the woods. Its more like exploring. I dont need a fancy suspension. The DRZ was great for that, but it sucked on the road getting there. Plus the DR is lower, I can touch the ground with both feet. I just think that for what I will be doing, this DR will be a great replacement for the other 2 bikes.3 points

Whatever happened to the “gun crime means hard time” program and mantra? Used to be billboard up everywhere and even commercials on TV. Oh wait, they weren’t serious and no one wanted to enforce and pay for it. That was all before the term “gun violence” was even invented.2 points

Can’t use it since I get the random drug test for work. Was the only thing that ever worked for me for migraines though I’ll say that. Now instead I get to take something in the opiate family… certainly not healthier and more harmful. Guys at work can go on a weekend bender and come in still fuzzy and hungover, but god forbid they smoked a joint in the privacy of their own home and they got popped or had an injury at work and their comp claim is denied and they ended up bankrupt. Lost my uncle to cancer, asked why he didn’t go get his medical card in a legally recreational state. My dad just pointed the finger gun and said because “that card” is more important to him and was such a PITA to obtain he wouldn’t risk losing his carry license. Shame. Glad that’s overturned now.2 points

The slap on the wrist and a walk is what is wrong today. ETA, I know I sound extreme, but as a race we are failing, The evil in the world is getting bigger and bigger every day.2 points

Half the problem we face is a soft legal system. Criminals don't get what they deserve. A stiff enough punishment CAN be found.2 points
-
It ought to be noted that there are countries in the world where the penalties are quite extreme. Their numbers aren’t that much different than ours.2 points

I agree with this as they have been trying to figure out a way to destroy the Supreme Court to make it easier to destroy the Constitution !2 points

As I've said many times before, every cop I've ever asked has told me that the most common stolen gun report that they do has the weapon stolen out of a vehicle. Vehicles are not very secure. While I agree its the thief's fault. You shouldn't give them the opportunity.2 points

So I saw one of the tv channels posted a poll asking about what students think were the biggest issues for them. Gun violence came in fourth on the list. And it got me thinking about the political side of the argument. The antis tend to use it and focus on the first word, Gun. But I think society needs to focus more on the second half, violence. of course, this is something that a lot of have said throughout the years but I’ve never really seen it framed that way.2 points

She was just a mentally ill person with a lot of crazy rambling diary entries. I think the Police Chief made a mistake using the term “manifesto” because that made the public think it would provide a reason for her actions. However it’s my understanding that this is not really the case.2 points

2 weeks ago sold my Triumph Tiger 800 and DRZ400, and just picked up a DR650. talk about a 1 bike quiver-lol. Its not bad on the road, hell I cant even shift into 5th til I'm doing 60. But I'm going down a tooth in the front so that might change a bit. Took it in the woods on Thurs, nothing super hard but it did great. SO much lighter than the Tiger in the woods, and not much heavier than the DRZ. With a few changes (gearing, better seat and lower pegs) this will be a do-it-all bike for me. Wish I did this years ago. And the funny thing is, when I started getting into ADV bikes 10-12 years ago I started with a DR650. But I was always looking for something better. Had a Husky TE610, KTM 525EXC, Husky 650 Terra (great bike), BMW 800GS, and the Tiger 800XC. All had their pro's and con's. But the DR does everything OK, so it will be a keeper (for now-lol)2 points

Wow. That's always a fear I have. The very first gun I used that had a decocker was the M9 berettas we had in the military. We changed from S&W .38s to the M9 and my only experience with semi autos before then was with 1911s. So when was first at the range we went through some drills with it before qualifying and they had us load it and then decock it while pointed downrange. Later, after I started carrying it daily, I continued to be leery of decocking that darn gun. Our policy was to load the weapon at a clearing barrel, then decock it before holstering for the shift. I distinctly remember watching the hammer go forward, each time expecting a bang! Eventually I got used to it, but still point my decocker guns in a safe direction when decocking.2 points

If Vince is hooked on a custom build, maybe you aught to just gift him a receiver and let him build a complete gun from there. I had just about as much fun deciding on the parts and building the 10/22s as I do shooting them. I have one that I should call "my significant other" considering the damage it did to my bank account. But the 10/22 I treasure the most is a very light rifle build. I think I "only" have about a grand in this one:2 points

I bought this stuff about two years ago after I tore my biceps muscle and needed to do rehab at home. I've since recovered and have moved on to a larger home gym machine, so I no longer need these things. This is a pretty decent starter setup or will augment whatever you already have. The bench is in very good shape and was always wiped down after use to prevent sweat and salt buildup. There are four 10lb plates and and a total of six 5lb plates (only two are shown in this photo). All 5lb plates are identical to what you see here. Bars and plates are all 2-inch variety. What I paid for this stuff... Bench ($130) Plates ($130) Bars ($70) Total of $330 Will sell it all for $150. Local pick up in the Spring Hill / Thompsons Station area. Cash only. Not interested in any trades at this time.1 point

A long retired school teacher friend told he once took his new hand gun into school to show a couple of friends in the teachers lounge and no one batted an eye and this was in NY back in the 70s. this went along with his stories when he went to High School and kept his shotgun in the locker during hunting season. I only lived a block from school so it wasn't a problem picking mine up on the way to go hunting.1 point

Another case where celebrity gets special treatment. And it’s not the first time for Baldwin. So much negligence. Baldwin should have been charged properly. Can’t stand him! The armorer may not be so lucky.1 point

How are you liking the 308? I'm looking at the Ruger SFAR . I've been using my SBR'd 6.8 SPC and SBR 223 as a back up and it's fine but kinda wanting a new gun. Also I can't find 6.8 anywhere and I have plenty of 308 Got 4 out of the first group I ran into1 point

My Dr (before he retired) used to ask what I was carrying so he could appropriately 'adjust' what the scales reported in my records. We spent significant time talking guns and hunting on every office visit.1 point

I try to avoid the rain as well, and I agree on the rain gear. If it's the usual summer showers, it's better to just get a little wet than go sous vide in the rain gear. Once the shower passes, you'll be dry again pretty fast. Riding in the wet will also make you a smoother rider. Decent tires provide a lot more grip than most people think in the wet, just gotta be smooth.1 point

BULLSH!T Just because the trigger was replaced doesn't make the gun more likely to misfire. In all likelihood the trigger was replaced because it was misfiring. I doubt a gun rental company would have incompetent gunsmiths working on their guns. Unless physically broken, that still doesn't dismiss the fact that the trigger has to be pulled all the way back to get past the half cock notch on the hammer. The FBI determined that the gun was in perfect operating order. Once again the rich and famous get away with murder. At least we have the satisfaction of knowing his career is dead as a hammer.1 point

I picked up a windshield for mine the other day. I was sort of worried these bags would be too much weight on the rear, but the wife and I put over 500 miles on it in the last 3 days, and I can't tell the bags are back there. It was her first trip on a bike. Except for not being able to take everything we own, she seemed to enjoy the ride.1 point

Again, the wisdom of Grayfox54! I want to say the the problem is rooted in Gen Z with a level of disconnect from each-other that is unprecedented in history and brought on by near infinite screen time and “free-range parenting”. All I really know is that as a people, we don’t seem to SEE each-other anymore or really ever be in the moment. Ever notice that in any given room of 10 or more people- that someone will be focused on a screen? There is no situational awareness but also no real interpersonal awareness because so many people don’t come out of their own bubble and share with each-other face to face. I miss our belief systems that helped hold society in place. Allowing Religion, Patriotism, Marriage, Community & Hometown Pride to be vilified really shattered our foundation as a better people.1 point

Well, I was coming here to piss and moan about not getting the XS650 after all, but I defer any remaining piss and moan time to @OldIronFan! Glad you are here in one piece to share that with us. As for the XS, the seller and I had divergent opinions on condition and value, so I will continue searching. Just messaged a local KLR650 seller.....1 point
