Thanks MacGyver-didn't realize the tolerances were that tight! I took it to Knives N' More in Huntsville, AL and showed the owner the knife. He said "What the Heck?" as the knife failed to close fully immediately, and then offered to took a look at it and disassembled the Infidel. Turns out rails that hold the knife inside the handle had screws so loose they were out, so he put locktite on them and tightened them and said to let it set overnight. The owner thought it might have been the machine that puts locktite on the screws ran dry as he didn't think anyone assembling the knife would have just not put locktite on as he didn't see any placed by the factory. Great customer service, I will let you guys know how it works after tomorrow morning when the locktite sets.3 points

Friends, I'd like to offer some perspective as a mental health professional. Not trying to argue or start a conflict. I've been doing this for 40 years so my words do not come so much from an earned doctorate but from practical experience. I applaud each and every one of you who are willing to take a call from a friend in crisis and/or hold their firearms for them. God bless each and every one of you. But in a moment of personal crisis, a friend may not want to make themselves vulnerable to you, thus, talking with an anonymous person on a national lifeline may be their best option. Allow me to offer some feedback on the national suicide hotlines. I have worked on them. Many of you distrust them, so I am going to tell you how they work. You may believe me or not; your choice. Again, I am not seeking to start a conflict - just offering enlightenment and it is your choice what you do with it. If you call 988 or any other lifeline you will be asked a few screening questions which have one purpose: to route you to the closest suicide hotline in your area. If you are in the Nashville area and call 988, your call will go to Family and Children's Service who has the contract to operate the suicide hotline in Middle Tennessee. A few screening questions will be asked, but whether they are answered or not, the trained telephone responder has only one goal: to persuade the caller to accept help. What the hotlines DO NOT DO: they do not trace calls. They have no way to find out who the caller is. They have no means to call emergency services UNLESS the caller offers their address. There is no attempt to take firearms away. No databases of names are kept and turned over to LEOs or anyone else. In the moment a call comes from a suicidal person, the only agenda is to talk to them long enough that they give their address for EMTs to come to them or hopefully calm the person to the extent when they hang up on you, hopefully, they will not take their life. The cops are called ONLY if the caller gives their address. These call centers do not have the funds for equipment to trace calls. Doesn't matter if you use your own cellphone, a burner phone, or (for anyone who still has one!) a wired phone - there is not money in these agencies to acquire such technology, even if it exists. Call center workers have some background in mental health and are trained to talk with someone long enough that they will give their address and allow emergency services to respond. IF THE CALLER DOES NOT OFFER THEIR ADDRESS THERE IS NO WAY TO DIRECT ANYONE TO HELP THEM. THERE IS NO "SECRET SYSTEM" TO FIND OUT WHO THEY ARE OR WHERE THEY LIVE. So I have worked in such a call center. On a very cold night in January a gentleman called me and talked about taking his life. He wouldn't give me his address and then - as now - I had no way to trace it. The only thing I had was my training as a mental health therapist to get him to talk; if I could get him to talk as long as possible the hope is that his emotion would lessen, match his logic, give me his address and I could get 911 to him so he could get to an ED. We talked for four hours. At the end, I heard a huge "BANG" and the line went dead. As did the caller. I still have dreams about what else I could have said . . . I never knew who he was or where he lived. We had no way to trace the call. Guys, this isn't about "red flag" laws, tracing phone calls, or "the government." Hotlines try to keep people alive. And when they do not, the hotline worker gets counseling because of the massive guilt and disappointment they feel. Because when the caller kills themselves, the hotline worker feels like a failure. I know . . . None of you know me and none of you have any reason to believe me, but if the only thing you can get a friend to do is to call a national/state lifeline . . . get them to call. I have offered my perspective and am not going to argue/justify my words. Accept or reject these statements as you wish. And may life be good to you all.3 points

So true, brother. You also never know when a kind word or gesture might be all someone needs to get thru another day.3 points

Mental distress and illness is not a political matter. It affects people regardless of ideology. I would hope that those professionals who have to deal with it on a daily basis are not subject to inane beliefs or subscribe to the leanings of the day.2 points

Thank you for trying to dispel some of the myths. In a time of real crisis, you probably shouldn’t let politics override your mental health but it’s still great to push the truth. Side note, anyone know how to make all of the text appear as plain text? I found this post incredibly difficult to read but don’t want him to have to change it just because my eyes don’t work right.2 points

Jeb48 prayers for you. The open heart surgery is serious but not as bad as you might think. I had it done about 10 years ago for 5 blockages. Hang in there my friend.2 points

It's strange seeing you all discussing depriving people of their property without a hearing when the police already do this routinely. People have had their money taken simply because the police officer thought they had too much cash on them; therefore, they must be a drug-dealer. How about "emanate domain" as well? Guys, I absolutely hate this, but if we don't figure this out SOON then we'll be looking at disarmament once the MAJORITY of the people in the country get fed-up with the mass shootings.2 points

I have a console safe in my truck. Yes, they can open the lid and see the safe, but it would be hard to get it out/open. Hard = time, and most criminals want to move quickly.2 points

Just to keep you up to date. I had a Heart Cath today and spent the whole day by the time they were willing to let me go. Thy found some partial blocks and a complete block. The heart surgeon wants me to recover a bit more from the stroke then he will decide what is the best option but probably open heart surgery. Could have been worse but not looking forward to it, he said to continue PT for now.2 points

I read the latest news today and Gov. Lee calling for enactment of a statutory "mental health order of protection" to prevent mentally unstable people from having access to firearms. I challenge each of you to read Tenn. Code Ann. Title 33, Ch.6, Part 401 et seq. Those current laws provide a comprehensive mechanism for rapid commitment of mentally unstable people if clear proof shows they will harm others. What I'm saying is that the precise issue Gov. Lee says must be addressed through a new law curtailing your and my civil liberties already has a solution under existing TN law. I'm not your lawyer and this is not legal advice. But a new means of suspending basic civil liberties doesn't stop a bad guy with a gun and certainly doesn't bring back those lost recently in Nashville. I'm worried.2 points

To be honest I had no problems with Bredesen but everyone is losing their minds so fast that the moderation of his term that ended a mere 12 years ago and that of Haslam’s that ended in 2019 is really quite astounding.1 point

BULLSH!T Just because the trigger was replaced doesn't make the gun more likely to misfire. In all likelihood the trigger was replaced because it was misfiring. I doubt a gun rental company would have incompetent gunsmiths working on their guns. Unless physically broken, that still doesn't dismiss the fact that the trigger has to be pulled all the way back to get past the half cock notch on the hammer. The FBI determined that the gun was in perfect operating order. Once again the rich and famous get away with murder. At least we have the satisfaction of knowing his career is dead as a hammer.1 point

Safety Reminder for Buyers and Sellers This is an automatic reply meant to protect you as a buyer and a seller on TGO. Use the Buyer/Seller Feedback feature to research who you are dealing with. Please come back and leave feedback for each other after the transaction is complete. Your experience will help others. Never agree to use an electronic form of payment to buy or sell a gun! None of the electronic payment services will protect you against fraud in a firearms transaction. They all have terms of service FORBIDDING the use of their services to buy/sell guns. DON'T DO IT. Be very wary of anyone who insists on brokering a deal in private or outside of TGO. Scammers almost always prefer to operate out of the public eye. I went through 15 pounds of sugar last year and was late getting my feeders up. I have 25 pounds of sugar for this year and will change water once a week unless they get to low from birds and then I will fill them sooner. I have not seen any birds yet but I see the levels in the feeders are dropping. I think they are feeding early before I get up. Once it gets hot they will feed off and on all day and I will sit out on the deck and watch them and their antics about fussing over the feeders.1 point

The whole point of red flag laws/ERPOs is to create a backdoor for government to deprive a person of due process. If they think a person is a threat, a doctor substantiates that by divulging your medical records, and a judge agrees to enact the red flag law, then why not arrest the person they think is a threat instead? The reason is they know that won't fly because you haven't been deemed mentally unstable by a court yet. Confiscating your property BEFORE you're declared unstable, especially when you're forced to prove your innocence to get your property back, is just as unconstitutional, right?1 point

As long as the MSM are giving the details you will always see the other side. I will bet my last dollar you could get 1000 pro 2A folks and just one anti A2 person in front of a MSM camera. The only story that will be on the tube will be the one anti 2A person. As far as "Why no counter protest" well I have to work, I have yet to find a group that will fund any one for a Pro 2A protest. As well the MSM will show us as "Gun loving nuts".1 point

The veneer of mental stability is a lot thinner than people are comfortable acknowledging. I say this as someone who has had to fight off "the grey" as as Jay Glazer calls it because it's part of my genetic code, apparently. Reach out to someone if you need that anchor point, from someone you trust, a stranger if needed, a professional if you have the time...pretend your life depends on it, because it might.1 point
