Any of y’all can call me. Anytime. I’ve lost too many people that I care deeply about. Some here. Way too soon. There are a whole lot of reasons for that - and there aren’t any easy answers. It sucks. But the heart of the matter is if you need someone to listen, or someone to yell at, or someone to cry with - I’ll be there. Anytime.9 points

Yeah, it's amazing how many people on this forum can't understand this. I don't like it, but I understand it.4 points

Most certainly. Who’s going to go see a psychiatrist if it means having their home raided and personal property confiscated?4 points

This may not be the answer for everyone, but the Pastor at our church is an excellent counselor. I trust him fully and he'd be the first person I reached out to. Bonus: his son is our Asst. Pastor and he's finishing up his Psychology degree for this exact reason. Our church believes strongly in helping with mental health.4 points

Last night I sent a text to a former coworker. We're not close, but I like to check in with people now and then. A few minutes later I got a text from another number asking who I was. My initial thought was, maybe they've changed phone numbers or someone else found their phone. Sadly, this wasn't the case. The person texting me back was my coworkers wife, letting me know that he had committed suicide two weeks prior. There's a sorted history there that I won't get into, but what I will say is that it was completely unexpected. We're talking about a guy that I thought was a rock. I would describe him as a "manly man". Married, two kids, always into the dad jokes but took his work and life very seriously. A big 2a advocate, red blooded American type. Folks, this just goes to show that you never know what's going on in someones life. You don't know someone else's story, or what they've been through. Some people hide it better than others. For me, it tells me that I need to learn to have a bit more grace and make sure I check in more often with the people I care about (God being first and foremost). Make sure that you take the time to be with family and friends. Life is too short and fellowship is where it's at. No amount of "stuff" will ever fill the void. And if you are struggling, please seek help. There are 1001 reasons why you matter. I had the unfortunate task of informing all of his old coworkers (which i did gladly because I wasn't going to put that back on his wife) and it amazed me that people I thought only knew him in passing were gutted to find out what happened. A few of them even started talking to me about their own struggles with depression. Suicide isn't the answer.3 points

I live within 5 minutes of this place, its good, but not in my top 5 in this area. The Lampost, Cielito Lindo, Berts, The Patio, Donnas, The Beach in Tellico Plains, and Greenback Corner Market are some of my favorites.2 points

Anything that they shove up your Arse without due process should be un-constitutional but once it's in place it takes a lifetime to be heard. There is no reason in this world to think that any law will stop a determined individual from breaking it. Mentally ill people do not care about themselves so why would anyone think that they cared about them2 points

I have all my reps on speed dial and I send emails non stop. Heck I even mail letters certified so somebody has to sign for them. Like you said, they may not listen but I am going to shout.2 points

I posted them. If anything I have a CC w a reputable brand and have luckily only had to do one chargeback when I got duped on a back order that never showed up. I’ll never use a debit for anything online. Totally get the paying a couple bucks more for a reputable sites, there are however a lot of people that just dropship stuff to make $.50-1.00 in bulk with a crappy website and they try to make there money on add-ons like candy in the checkout for Home Depot.2 points

Pistol (not AR) used and both too young to legally obtain a firearm. So much for red flag or background checks helping there.2 points

The same thing happened with Bernie Sanders' votes, but that doesn't mean we just continue to fall back into the two party bs. If enough people get the message and take a stand, things will change, but if we just continue to roll over and play dead when things don't go as planned, then they will never change.2 points

An honest question then - who are the people in your life that you *would* trust? This is a thread on mental health - and we have shooting after shooting nationally where mental health is an issue that's brought right up front and center. I get it that so many of us are skeptical of "the government" being able to take away your guns and due process and all of that. I totally understand that. But who are the people you'd trust to ask, "are you okay? have you had thoughts about hurting yourself or someone else? would it be helpful for me to hold onto your guns for a minute?" I have had people's guns in my safe. I have a couple in there right now - for people in my life who I care deeply about - and for whom I was able to get past myself and ask them, "can I hold your guns for a minute." One friend may well be alive today because of it. It's probably worth going through that thought exercise - and asking both, "who are the people in my life whom I'd trust with my guns" and "who are the people in my life who would trust me with theirs." That second one might be a bigger circle than you think.2 points

The veneer of mental stability is a lot thinner than people are comfortable acknowledging. I say this as someone who has had to fight off "the grey" as as Jay Glazer calls it because it's part of my genetic code, apparently. Reach out to someone if you need that anchor point, from someone you trust, a stranger if needed, a professional if you have the time...pretend your life depends on it, because it might.2 points

If I ever did need some help, I’d have no idea where to go or who to trust. I damn sure wouldn’t call some .gov funded hotline, or whatever the place is affiliated with our current health insurance. I doubt I’m the only one who feels that way. Not very trusting at all. I wish I had a solution for how to make mental health services more attractive options for those who need them.2 points

Colt 1903m 32 acp with a nickel finish. I’m not sure if the finish is original or not. I got it on trade so I don’t know a lot about it. Looks like it was made in 1906. I would say it is in fair condition. Has wear on the side from being in holster. Does have the original grips on it.looking to get $550 but Throw out an offer. Thanks1 point

So MDA (Moms Demand Action) fund and organize several large protests and of course the "news" finds "concerned moms" to spread lies on the TV footage but why no counter protests? Watched Channel 5 put some gal on last night that said "I have to register my car every year but you can go buy guns any time you want with no back ground checks of fees" Um, last time I bought one it sure needed a back ground check and $10 fee to the state so that was a bold face lie. Besdies the fact that her car is a priviliege and guns are a right. Sadly, many will believe her. If I lived closer to Nashville I would have been there. We so need a well spoken, well presented group to counter this BS less Tenessee will fall to an anti-gun state.1 point

I have a pretty darn nice, lightly used Smith & Wesson M&P10 in .308 Winchester or 7.62x51NATO that I am putting back up on the for sale. I have shot probably 50 rounds through it, would be surprised if the previous owner shot many more. Looks like almost new, some handling marks. I'm not an AR afficionato so I don't know much about it or what to look for. I have disassembled to remove the bolt and look at it but that is it. It has a nice floating heat shield installed but comes with the stock one. M-Lock angled foregrip installed on it. Has some nice Troy Industries flip up sights that will go with it as well. 5 Mags with 1 all metal 10 round mag. It is a nice rifle, with everything included, in the bag, ready to go, first $1,300.00 takes it.1 point

I read the latest news today and Gov. Lee calling for enactment of a statutory "mental health order of protection" to prevent mentally unstable people from having access to firearms. I challenge each of you to read Tenn. Code Ann. Title 33, Ch.6, Part 401 et seq. Those current laws provide a comprehensive mechanism for rapid commitment of mentally unstable people if clear proof shows they will harm others. What I'm saying is that the precise issue Gov. Lee says must be addressed through a new law curtailing your and my civil liberties already has a solution under existing TN law. I'm not your lawyer and this is not legal advice. But a new means of suspending basic civil liberties doesn't stop a bad guy with a gun and certainly doesn't bring back those lost recently in Nashville. I'm worried.1 point

The police have also arrested a 20 year old and charged him with Murder. I will speculate that the 20 year old bought the guns that were used in the shootings and he was also seen at the party but was not invited nor were the 2 brothers. They have not released a motive yet as the investigation is still ongoing. They used pistols with high capacity magazines and not long guns. Police said that more than 40 rounds were fired.1 point

Mac, as always thanks to you for your kindness to us all, and your offers of assistance on so many levels. Now...as far as people, or persons, that I truely trust with anything in or about my life...I have one in my family. One(s) that I could go to. Thought I had a couple more, but last few years have shown me that isn't the case. And before you bring it up, my wife is wonderful. She puts up with and cares for me. Just as I'm sure all yours do. But sometimes...your wife just isn't enough. At times, there are things I want to say, to speak of, that just aren't things she wants to hear or know of. That's sad, but true for all but the Blessed few with Godly, Sainted wives who are strong enough to hear all those secrets. Those fears we contain in our hearts and souls. Am I looking at this all wrong? Do you have things even your wife isn't privy to? Things you might have done that telling her of that would only bring hurt? We all need someone to talk with now and then. Many, if not most of us , are ashamed to admit it. It's not "manly" to need that. I did, and was blessed to have this man for help. before you ask...yes, he was and is a good Christian man who himself has had a hard life. His childhood sweetheart and wife of less than 5 years, cheated on him with one of his friends. Took their daughter to live with this man. It almost broke Mike. But it didn't. He had his faith and a wonderful sister to help thru the those times. Thankfully he has resumed his life and now has 50/50 custody of his daughter. I'll never understand how that happened though. He should have gotten full custody. Emotions are such a hard and private thing. Good, bad, love, or hate. All tug on us every day in such a way to make us want to cower in the dark at times. Our society has made it damn near impossible for those in need to reach out when they need help. We make fun of them, deride them, and ignore them. I mean that "we" in the sense of the human race as a whole. Not every person is like that but...Most of the human race are not worth the salt in our bodies. JMO, but I think we see that more and more each day. Thankfully there are some that are of such good as to worry about, and help all they can reach. Those are the few, the Godly annointed with heads and hearts for helping. We absolutely need legions more of them. Sorry for the dark words today, but we have to get them out sometimes to see and hear the good ones that are around us. After all, you can't fight what you can't see. And to see these things, these words as I say...they have to and must be grought out into the open. Into the light of day. Not hidden away in the dark...in the silence of our minds.1 point

Larry, do you have any 365 variant now? I was going to get a macro frame for my XL Spectre, but I have a boatload of 12 round mags so didn’t want to waste that. With the tac dev floor plate on my 12 Round EDC mag, I’m very happy with the fit in my hand, plus I carry 17 rounders as reloads. I’m not loving the stock 17nround floor plate, but haven’t seen one yet I like better. I doubt I’ll get the macro.1 point

While I agree with that in principle, I did it exactly that in 1992, voting for Ross Perot. All that did was pull enough conservative votes away from GOP George W. Bush to give Bill Clinton enough votes to win. That didn’t work out as planned to say the least!1 point

Their website says they have both. You want the one that my grandfather used for a tool box. Every time he wanted a tool he dropped the tailgate and dumped it all out. What I would give to see him do that just one more time.1 point

Well..glad I didn't risk going. Would have been a real problem for me, and a disapointment as well. Like all above, I miss the golden days of real Gun Shows! Where you could find hidden treasures and great guns; good people and some good buys, and could leave thinking...how am I going to explain all this stuff to my wife? I haven't had to do that since roughly 2011-2012.1 point

I think that part of the problem is that our judicial system is WAY too easy on people who break gun laws. If the penalties for illegal use of a firearm were enforced to the full extent of the law I think there would be less of this kind of thing. Right now one can get away with lying on a 4470 (Hunter Biden springs to mind!), and criminals get away with very minor punishments. Perhaps if being caught with an illegal firearm landed the criminal in jail for a significant amount of time there would be fewer people engaging in illegal carry. (I'm thinking of those who are prohibited from possessing a firearm, either under-age or those with criminal records.) The penalty for having a firearm during the commission of a crime should require serious time in prison, and for actually using one in a criminal manner should send the criminal away for many years. Maybe the Alabama BD party shooter will fall into none of the categories I just mentioned, but I'm for taking drastic measures against CRIMINALS (not law-abiding gun owners) when they use a gun wrongly.1 point
