Y’all are both longtime forum members - and @Links2k is a far cry from anti- gun. The man has sold more high end pieces than about anyone here. I’d encourage anyone participating in these threads to argue specific points not passion.8 points

IMO they are exactly like the people they represent, look who put them in office in the first place.6 points

I think we're all guilty of occasionally painting whatever group with a similar brush. Stereotypes do exist for a reason, but that doesn't mean those who typify a stereotype represent the majority of that group, nor do we have to be beholden to them. Evaluating people individually is the right thing to do, but it takes more time than most people are willing to invest.5 points

Folks... " Red Flag " laws have been ruled unconstitutional by various federal courts... That said; I would watch the situation; but not be too concerned about this " windbaggery "... Things are hot everywhere and people are watching for any move that smacks of abridging the Fourth Amendment. " Red Flag " laws do that on their face if there is no " due process "... "... The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things ... ..." leroy..5 points

Now that the brace is off my broken wrist I can get back to leather work and gun work. The grip that came on my 629 did not fit my hand at all, and I HATE finger grooves. I’ve always wanted to try my hand at pistol grips, so today I jumped in. First set of grips I’ve ever tried. Shortened it by about 1/8” or so, removed the cursed finger grooves, cut down the sharp ledges toward the top of the grip on the sides, and sanded off the slick urethane finish. Added two coats of linseed oil. Might add some dark stain later. Feels really good in the hand, and now the 629 feels secure in my hand as well. Still knocks the ever-lovin-piss out of ya though. Nothing like shooting the good ole BFR. I think I’ve built up the courage now to try making a set of grips for the BFR. Got some black walnut and some osage orange coming. Might do both.3 points

Folks... Don't worry about the " reinstatement"... The House makeup is 75 R .... 24D. The " reinstated ones " have been stripped of committee assignments. All they can do is debate n vote... The " R" s have already won. These people can do virtually nothing in the state house. Ya don't need a consultant ta see that... Folks are tending to make them greater than they really are. leroy...3 points

I've been watching the state house fiasco from the start and don't know what should have been done. Like most here I leaned toward they shouldn't have expelled them (some of this is just my opinions and some is public knowledge) but these two clowns don't deserve to hold office. I can't really keep them separate since they both have the same name but it doesn't look like either one learned anything from this. They have not changed their actions, no apologies for breaking the rules and trying to cause a riot in the chamber. I hope I'm wrong about this but I doubt it. Many arrests for one of them and rioting. What kind of people send people like these to elected office? These two are not about the people they represent. I feel like they are all about their selves and it looks like it's working out well for them. We will be seeing their faces for a long time and I'm tired of seeing them.3 points

Some of my fondest memories were with my dad hunting, but I'm in the same boat as @Defender. I grew up hunting, but haven't been since I was a kid. I dropped the ball when I grew up and didn't make it a priority like I should have. We didn't own land, but my dad seemed to know everybody in Rutherford County that had a spot to hunt on. We'd go install a CB antenna, help turn ground for a garden, fix a car, shoot a bunch of coyotes, etc. and make friends who'd let us hunt. I failed to maintain those relationships and now I have nowhere I'd call safe to hunt at. I truly hope you can fulfill that tradition in your family. It'll make memories for a lifetime.3 points

Go ahead and enlighten us with your "equitable solutions". You keep eluding to the problem being the fault of us pro-2A old farts who won't compromise. Compromise on what? What greater good is served by decent law-abiding people giving up their guns? So please forgive us idiots for seeing confiscation behind every bush. We've learned that we clearly can't trust people who think like you to preserve our rights.3 points

Let me ask a question: Why does anyone believe that so-called Red Flag laws will work when you consider the other past cases of mass killings where law enforcement agencies had advance notice of threats or intent to do harm and yet still failed to stop the event? Think about that long and hard. The statement "The FBI/police were aware of [the individual]" has occurred so frequently in the aftermath of mass killings that it has become the butt of countless dark jokes. And yet... none of those agencies preemptively did anything to stop the killers. And in cases where a friend or family member knew the killer was making threatening statements ahead of the actual event, those friends or family members could have EASILY reported them to the authorities and potentially averted disaster. Threatening a person or group of people is already "assault". It is already illegal. A person guilty of making threats or threatening remarks can today be arrested and investigated for that! Further, arresting a person for making threatening remarks does not require that you adjudicate that person in advance, unlike filing for an emergency protective order under "Red Flag" provisions. It's actually a faster process. Conversely, if no one knows of the killer's intent ahead of time, no number of red flag laws would help. A killer that flies under the radar will never be stopped by these proposed laws. The only real difference between what we have now and what we will have if Red Flag laws are enacted is that gun owners will be subject to legalized and expensive harassment without the protection of due process. It's all bull#### meant to grab guns and preserve jobs for politicians.3 points

I’m still watching on a couple Marlins in 44mag and 444 Marlin. I was out bid on a 336A-DL. I should have bid more except it had a right handed Monte Carlo stock and I am a lefty. I did pick another 336RC from 67 for a pretty good price (I thought I would be out bid). Photos to come when it gets to me.2 points

If you were closer I’d set you up with some .44 special to let that wrist settle. Another option is giving me that ugly gun. BS aside, I have the 4” version and love it.2 points

Sounds like someone sold your info to one of their "trusted 3rd parties". It happened to me so much that I started tracking who was selling my email address. Google offers a feature that lets me change my email address that I give the NRA from myemail@gmail.com to myemail+NRA@gmail.com. That way when some 3rd party emails me and it comes to the +NRA version, I at least know who's selling my info to others.2 points

Now, take those slices, put them in the slow cooker with smoke, add a dry rub or wet sauce and BAM BBQ bologna.2 points

I like fried bologna and have since I was a kid. Never tried it with garlic. I need to add that to my shopping list. I don't know if anyone has ever grilled bologna but it is really good. Thing is you need to get at least 1/2 a stick or more of butchers bologna and slice it into slices about as thick as a hamburger so you can put it on a burger bun and build it like you would a hamburger. Mustard, ketchup, tomato, lettuce or what ever. I like to put a slice of cheese on mine and build from there. You grill the bologna till it's brown on both sides. I made it for my kids when they were growing up and they liked it better the burgers.2 points

Same. No kids and not married (yet). It's really more of an issue that I have more guns than I could ever train on effectively. I love my collection but I'm sitting on resources when I need a certain amount of cash flow to dig myself out of a hole (last year was expensive: dog got sick, I got sick, we needed a new A/C unit...just "life"). I don't like the idea of liquidating my assets because I'll probably miss them in a few years but at my current rate of pay, I'd have to dip pretty deep into my emergency fund to get air at the surface. Trust me, I like the idea of having two FALs, two OA-93s, two sequential serial number Beretta TX4 Storms, and two SPAS-12s, but what good are they doing just sitting in darkness? Accruing value? Yeah sure, but once you factor in the rate of inflation, it's not as dramatic as the raw numbers make it seem. Think about what $3K could've bought you a few years ago vs. what $3K could buy you NOW. Crank it up to $6K and think about what that could buy you now vs. what $3K could buy you a few years ago. I wish I could say that guns were a solid investment but they're not the end-all-be-all of interest-gathering resources. But they are cool, they are meaningful, they are useful, and they lend some serious street cred and bragging rights. I don't know anyone who has two SPAS-12s. And that's cool. But at what cost? Life is a game of breaths and inches.2 points

Devils advocate......you don't need one. Unless you're going through pat down or metal detectors.......concealed is concealed. Now, pending the size of your edc and whether or not your holster needs stored as well, anything that will be out of your way and not visible and accessible will be impossible to find for your vehicle......I've tried and spent $ trying. Trunk style small safes appear to be the best because of the ability to really secure or bolt them down but some gun owners get nervous when getting stuff in and out of them. No matter what I tried, a trunk style safe bolted down was what I was most comfortable with. The brand doesn't matter as they all can be broken into with the right tools.....just do as much research as you can. There are thousands of gun sites just like TGO where this question has been asked. Read thousands of opinions and get as much information before you commit....2 points

I think it was Lucas from T-Rex arms that said there really is no justification for people to use an Olight as long as Streamlight exists. I have a few of their rifle lights and a couple handheld lights (HL, HL-X) and they have all been great, not the same durability/output as my CD stuff but I trust them more than Olight.2 points

I think you nailed how liberals think. They judge all cops by the actions of a few or all conservatives by the ideals they disagree with then demand everyone else be evaluated as individuals. It's intellectual laziness on their part is what it is.2 points

Red flag laws are gun control. Period. They don't do anything to stop a person from obtaining a firearm through means other than retail sales. They don't do anything to stop a person from committing assault with an improvised weapon of another sort. The just control gun sales and give the false impression that a politician has "done something". If we really cared about stopping mentally and emotionally broken people from harming other people, we'd do something about the screwed-up person. I mean, if only we had some clue that the Covenant shooter was in need of geniune psychotherapy.2 points

Not to argue, but, when the exact same things happen within one’s culture, then it’s ok, but not when it’s another’s culture? I guess that’s why we will never move away from racial issues. When we get close, there’s always someone stirring the pot. Anyway, BBQ roots go back further. Depending on what you consider bbq. I’ve read it’s roots started longer ago than America existed, ancient Sumerian or Egypt, some evidence exists, some say that it existed even before modern man did, but even here in the south, it likely started in Mexico, then moved to Texas. I do believe that the best bbq is in the south, by black or white people. But when I spent time in Texas I thought theirs was pretty good too. Next comment isn’t about bbq, but about culture. When I first went into the USAF back in 190sh**, I got sent to a base in upstate New York. At the chow hall, they had weekly specials from different cultures. One week it might be Italian, another Mexican, etc. then came the week they were having ‘soul food’. Well there weren’t a lot of options for us, but I wasn’t looking forward to having that. I’d had all the other styles before, but had never even heard of this kind. When we got there it sure smelled good, and I ate up. One of my friends, seeing I liked it, asked me if I’d ever had it before. I said oh yeah but we didn’t know it by this name. He said what did you call in in the south? Food, I replied. Lol.1 point

Not by choice, but everything you listed is by and large overwhelmed by Heller and McDonald, the adoption of Constitutional Carry in a lot of states, and the Bruen decision (which will be more important as time goes on). Legally, we're in far less danger of being disarmed than at any time since the post revolutionary war period. These are salad days for gun owners unless you're fixated on full auto.1 point
