Thanks to @Links2k I have found a bourbon I don’t hate. It’s actually drinkable straight, but I do prefer it in an old fashioned.4 points

I am signed up to take the Warrior Poet Society - One Man Room Clearing class in a couple weeks. I’m a bit of a John Lovell fanboy so am excited to finally take a course taught by him. I’ve taken instruction from his lead trainer Paul Perkerson in the past so if it’s anything like his instruction, it’ll be money well spent. I’m curious if any of you have taken this course or others from WPS and would like to share some thoughts. Heck, maybe one of you is also signed up for this one. Getting to simulate fights with sim rounds is probably going to be rather eye opening.3 points

So basically I mixed everyone's ideas and a few of my own, and it made a delicious ham glaze! 1/2 cup light brown sugar 1/3 cup honey 1/3 cup orange juice Zest of one half orange 1/3 cup pineapple juice 1/4 cup hickory smoke BBQ sauce 2 TBLP dijon mustard Dash of salt Mix all, bring to a boil, and let cool. Cook the ham until you like it, turn oven up to 400, put the glaze on the ham, let it carmelize on the ham . . . and enjoy! Thanks all!2 points

A staggering number of US households can't cover a $400 emergency expense. I've seen polls that go from 30% to 67% can't. It's always good to keep some cash on-hand for emergencies. One piece of advise is to have smaller bills ($20's and smaller) available in your emergency funds. There are a lot of places now that won't take a $50 or a $100. if possible, I'd advise keeping enough cash to cover at least 3 months of your minimal living expenses.2 points

My granddad taught me how to respect and build fires since I was big enough to walk. I swear I believe he could have built fire from water. Lol. Seriously though, he taught me so many different ways. He was a very self reliant man. Man I wish cell phones were around back then so I could have taken videos.2 points

I'm a big Russell's Reserve fan. but last month, I bought a 750ml bottle of Evan Williams Bonded 100proof. For the money ($30), this may end up being my go-to!!! Makes a great Old Fashioned!!!2 points

Not exactly training, more of a test. Beech is good people and makes the FBI qualification look pretty easy. I'm having surgery soon and will be off the range for a while, but I'd like to give it a shot in the next couple weeks if I can swing it.1 point

I thought I'd show off some work that I had done to a spare grip module for my Staccato C2. A gentleman named Zach, who posts as "Grip-It-Customs_" on Instagram (do note the trailing underscore in his name) did this for me last week and I couldn't be happier. Not only is the texture that he laid down perfect for EDC use, but a byproduct of removing the factory grip texture is that the overall circumference of the grip is slightly reduced. Since I'm a size-medium glove wearer, this translates into making the gun really fit my hand better than it already did. And for comparison, this is an old photo of what the gun comes with from the factory... I really couldn't be happier. And since the grip modules on these, while not exactly inexpensive, are replaceable it's not like I have permanently altered the gun in any way. Anyway, I feel like this is an example of plastic surgery gone RIGHT. Lord knows we've seen some stipple jobs on TGO that, no offense meant to the owners of those guns, looked like someone's dog had chewed on them for a few hours.1 point

Looking for a used Ruger LCR in .22LR. .22 magnum or .327 Federal also might work. I’m also not opposed to a S&W J frame in any of those calibers if you have one you’d consider selling. Thanks for looking.1 point

This Savage MKII has the 16 inch barrel threaded for a suppressor along with the target bolt handle and AccuTrigger. Comes with an extra 10 round magazine. I bought three of these at the same time in 2012. I took all three to the range and shot them in a lead sled to see which one was more accurate. I then sold the other two and kept the one that shot the best. I put a plain fixed power Simmons 4X scope on it, sighted it in and put it in the safe. It sat there until a couple of months ago when I got it out and shot about 10 rounds through it just to make sure it was still sighted in. It has one very small scratch from bumping something in the safe. I took a photo of the spot. I have now decided I want a new Ruger Mini 14 Tactical so I am selling a couple to help pay for the new Ruger. Located in Lenoir City. $2851 point

I've been put in "Time Out" a couple of times at big blue over the years. Got my hand slapped and given a few days off. And it always boils down to the same thing. I post something that I think is absolutely hilarious and they get upset about it. They just can't appreciate my sense of humor.1 point

Snaveba, have you seen this Frankensteined blasphemy in the wild yet? Lever-action, 9mm, mag-fed, fluted barreled, muzzle braked, hot mess. It has more identity issues than a Gen Z-er in a trans crisis worshipping social media while dressing for the next “mostly peaceful” protest. The manufacturer (POF-USA) even wants 2k for this abomination.1 point

Well aren’t things just getting special out there! I want to say more. At this point I’m actually percolating & frothing at the mouth a bit. Sometimes there is just not enough asterisks and redactions available for me to express myself. Remember the 1A? Wasn’t the 2A supposed to help protect even that to a degree? They manufacture division for personal gain. They take away face to face fellowship & sharing. They lock us behind screens to have non-private conversations where they can further control any narrative, perception of truth, or true liberty. Anybody else tired of this yet?1 point

Back when I was a kid that loved to hunt and fish I was always looking for away to make a buck for ammo and fishing tackle and we had an older gentleman that lived next store to us and he had a pen built off one of his storage buildings bur nothing was in it. Being nosey, I asked him what the pen was for and he said snapping turtles. He said he use to catch them in the swamp ponds behind our houses but he had to quit doing it as his age got the best of him. He would sell them to people that would come out of the city and buy them. I asked him if he would show me how to do it and he said he would think about it. His concern was my age I was only 12. He finally showed me how to make the lines with steel leaders, treble hooks and 200 pound nylon thread. He said the farmer down the road supplied him with chicken guts from when he cleans chickens so I went as spoke to the farmer and he said he would give me some. The next day the old man and I spent making turtle lines and the next day I went and got the bait. We baited 5 lines and the old man and I went and put out the lines. To Be Continued!!!!!!1 point

SIL and G-son, they sent me movies yesterday where they went to indoor range and burned 400 rounds of ammo. Had a Glock 19 gen 3, a new max 9 Ruger SIL just purchased last weekend, and a practically new Remington 1911R1. Said nothing burped and all went well. I gave grandson the new 1911 and Glock last year. They had trouble with the 1911 first time they took it out. Told them to clean and lube it good and take it back. They live in Mt Pleasant S Carolina and mom was out of town. Them boys are really getting into hunting, fishing, guns and the outdoors. Grandson has his own boat, 16' flat bottom fiberglass, with a 50 HP Honda motor. Mom's boss gave it to Parker. Said he did not use it any longer. Dad has a 27' sea worthy Carolina fiberglass w/ a 150 HP Yamaha. Doing it together. You gotta love it. They fish Charleston Harbor for the giant RED Fish. Grandson caught a 38-pounder last season. Makes me wish I was young again. Got 5 more visits with Cardiac Rehab for me. Will have finished 36 visits. Looking forward to getting finished. Really sapping my energy, for sure, since I am on a no carb diet. Lost 8 pounds so far and need to loose 40 pounds. Edited to add; grandson is 14 now. Being bullied in school because his ears are large. Wouldn't want to be a kid now.1 point

This weekend at our normal stop, I saw the bottle that @KahrMan just posted about, so picked it up along with a Blue Run Reflection. Both running on the hotter end of the typical proof range. The subdued heat sounded appealing, was curious what the flavor profile would be like as I didn't notice that mentioned. As subjective as that can be, thought I share how these struck me. First up the Calumet. I completed agree with Kahrman's take on the proof, just the vaguest hint of it on open but nothing that suggest the number on the bottle. Nice entry of of vanilla flavors that open up to some cherry from the rye mid palette then the barrel's oak notes drop in and stay thru to the finish. First few sips found the oak lingering and dominating the profile. A few drops of water to open it up and the oak seem to taper off and leave a more balanced profile. Fished with a second smaller pour. And there was the oak again for me. few drops of water, but didn't seem to have the same effect. I suspect the higher amount of alcohol may have deadened the palate to the nuanced flavors leaving the oak to dominate. It reminded me of how Angels Envy's heavy oak profile comes forward in the presence of more balanced offerings. If you are a love of oak and like higher proof, great choice. The Blue Run. Simply because it was close to the Calumet and I love to do things back to back. Not as hot at 95 proof, but it to was happily restrained. No harder hit than a typical 80 proof. The familiar vanilla tones with toasted bread at entry then a rush of spice. Cinnamon with a hint of nutmeg right at the middle and holding strong thru the finish. No notable oak or barrel char. After a few sips add a few drops of water, which cuts the enjoyable entry and to a very miner degree the spice, but the cinnamon / nutmeg persist heavily thru to the end. The spice character gives a hint of burning sensation that brings it out of balance. I like this quite a a bit, being a fan of pumpkin spice and cinnamon. There is a lot going on with this one, if the spike was a little more balanced this would be getting close to an ideal for me. Both were quite enjoyable. Probably depends on your mood or what you are having it after if by itself. For my palate I would Blue Run the nod simply as I find I less of an oak fan. Its a nice bonus that it also happens to be about $40 less.1 point
