  1. TN just created two rising stars that will probably end up in Washington….for years. All out of pettiness and ignorance.

  2. What an absolute and complete misread of the board by the TN GOP. They could have achieved the same effective result with censure and revocation of committee assignments done without the public fanfare. But instead they tried to send a message...the message ended up being how petty and vindictive the Tennessee Republicans are. All they had to do was ride this out and let the groundswell taper off. Even if the shootings will change voters minds on gun rights, there are years before it would have any impact at the polls with Bill Lee just kicking off a new term and the legislature in super-majority status. Very strong odds the desire for change on guns being a #1 issue wouldn't last that long unless we (hoping not) see shootings more. What a bunch of power drunk fools. They'll still survive in spite of themselves, but it's embarrassing to be governed by such bewildering incompetence holding that much power. leroy, I would ask why you think that description of them as thugs is appropriate in this case. This was a political act, not a criminal one which is usually the general barometer for thug as a noun. I'm generally not too overbearing on the "words matter" stuff, but in this case, talking about two black men chosen by their communities who tried to give voice to a minority opinion, the words we use absolutely have an impact.

  3. Censoring and loss of committee assignments would have been an appropriate punishment for what happened. Instead, the House GOP blew this completely out of proportion. This has got to be one the stupidest political blunders I have ever seen, in state politics. The second stupidest blunder; or maybe the worst (Lord I just don't know). was in allowing Gloria Johnson to remain. Could we look any worse??? Could have taken a bite out of the racism card, by sending her packing. Blunder on top of blunder. Idiots, all of them!!!

  4. The most amazing thing about this whole expulsion incident is that the Tennessee House has managed to make themselves look dumber than usual. That's impressive ...

  5. Those young men won in the end. Now they have a national spotlight and the Tennessee house looks like a bunch of racist. When are people going to realize these millennials are built different ?Humongous win! Also no one in the house disputed their claims that they weren’t allowed to speak in chamber and routinely had the microphone turned off on them. Keep watching, this isn’t the win you think it is. Some of the large corporations in Tennessee will have the house on its knees before the year is over. The action yesterday was not well thought out at all. Especially since the GOP already had a supermajority. Censure would have been the thinking man’s move, but they had to use the stick.

  6. Around here lots of folks think the way to win is to be the loudest, but those two confirmed that screaming at their colleagues with a Sharpton bullhorn was a flawed tactic.

  7. The litmus test of absolute 2A support is leading to all kinds of rather unacceptable, for lack of a better term, policies on other matters. The country needs and the people want moderation, not extremism.

  8. Major F up and gave Tennessee a black eye (no pun intended ) on a national level this morning with the news networks. As Andy Taylor use to say "why is it I'm always getting the seat of my britchets caught on my own pitchfork".

  9. Please go easy on me if this is in the wrong section but “deals & steals” looked woefully out of date on posts. So I was in Knoxville Tactical picking up received goods today and saw a pallet of these! NATO overrun $3.99 !!! This has always been a favorite overall design and it is nicely updated to LED & high impact polymer. As a kid I would always scratch up the nice painted olive drab finish something terrible. Well that too is no longer a problem. Just wanted to share in case anyone else loves these like I do.

  10. @leroy I generally agree with you on most things and always enjoy and respect your highly insightful posts but maybe not this time. The brouhaha that day doesn’t even rise to the level of a “ mini riot”. There is sometimes raucousness in the House. If there wasn’t the system isn’t working for all. Opinions do need to be heard, at least cursorily with a modicum of tolerance. Sexton and the majority are the thugs in this case. Fan of Leroy…

  12. Pride goeth before destruction - or so the old proverb goes... Jones and Pearson will likely both be back in the House on an interim basis by Tuesday afternoon. The council here in Nashville already is near unanimous - and Memphis has come out in support too. Word is that Sexton is trying to bargain with the Memphis's mayor behind the scenes - threatening to withhold funding for the work being done on the Forum if they send Pearson back. Pearson will be back. Regardless of what you think of their particular politics - I would encourage anyone to avoid making the same mistake the legislature did yesterday. Jones was instrumental - and a thorn in the flesh of the legislature - in getting the NBF statue removed from the Rotunda. Pearson was quite effective as an organizer in getting the Byhalia Pipeline stopped. So much so that the state passed laws to make it so that local legislatures can't intervene again. That will likely get tossed out in court. If you didn't watch the proceedings yesterday - I'd encourage you to. Both of those gentlemen are there because their communities sent them there. You may not agree with them. But those two - with less than four months between them in the House - went up against people who talk for a living - and ran laps around them. They gave a master class on swaying public opinion. Dismiss or discount them at your peril.

  20. Dear folks... RE: Discussions on the " right way " to handle the " Tennessee Three " If ya zoom out a bit, here's what I see as to this forum discussion and the reality of the political situation. As to the forum: There is one commonality. " What is the appropriate response to the " Tennessee Three " incident..? Some say ignore the hustle n bustle in the state House chamber n simply censure the offenders n remove them from committees. Others say ( like me ), lets treat em as badly as possible under the rules... Make an example. If you will. Notice the responses, they are both for punishment; the discussion is how much is appropriate. As to the political reality here in TN: I believe in my heart of hearts that it is impossible to please or placate those in the news media, those in Tennessee who stir these issues up, those inside and outside TN that oppose the state law that was passed, those in control in the executive branch of the the federal gubt, and others as to anything state gubmts do regarding hardening of schools and expanding gun rights. They are simply against such matters, and their opposition is hardened to the point of no discussion. It is a given that those who oppose legislation inside n outside of the state will howl n make the most political hay they can from the incident in question, but it doesn't last. The important thing, as I see it, is; what do the citizens of TN think..? There are 96 counties in Tennessee and 99 house districts. You have three in ninety nine that rolled the dice n pulled this stunt the other day. At the end of the day, 65 district reps voted to expell these provocateurs. The " Three " voted against the legislation, but it passed anyway. That's how things work in the state house. The subsequent howling by the usual suspects about the alleged shameful treatment of the " Three " had far more to do with the expanding of protections in school than it did about mistreatment of the individuals. I think this is a thunderstorm that will blow over in the next news cycle or two. It simply doesn't matter what those outside TN think about this. They are not voting on this individual state issue. In summary, I think we are dawning on a new political landscape. A landscape of extreme differences. That is what the " Tennessee Three " ushered into the state house the other day. Be ready for the fight and reconcile yourself to the fact that your political foes ain't gonna like you in spite of political differences. You simply will not be able to find common ground on anything on which you disagree. There will be no " agree to disagree " like there is here. It's " Scorched Earth " and " Winner take all "... I wish it wasn't so, but it's my belief that it's here. leroy

  21. btq... The fact that these three instigated a a mini riot within the Tennessee State House chamber knowing full well it was at the least trespassing, and at its worst an attempted mass intimidation provided the monaker " thug "... All three of these " legislators " know that. Had they been outside, I would pass it off as a " political act "... You do the " political act " thing outside the state House chambers. You debate and legislate inside. As to the " legislators chosen by their communities " thing; it looks ta me like they may have made a mistake in judgement as to who to send. The time to " give voice to the minority opinion " was during the debate before the vote and before the " demonstration "... They well knew that. AS to " words meaning things "; you bet they do. Actions are even more powerful... I'm generally no fan of polititians of any flavor, no matter whether local, state, or federal. This time they accidentally almost did the right thing. If they had have got Gloria Johnson, they would've hit a " Grand Slam ". It simply doesn't matter what anyone outside the state of Tennessee thinks. They can bark n howl, nothing more. This is a state matter. leroy...

  23. That one vote was Justin Pearson. Had they removed him first they would have had the votes. Something is changing in a way it hasn’t before. You can feel it on the ground at these protests. More on that later maybe. These lawmakers made fools of themselves yesterday in front of the whole nation. They’re going to do anything to get that spotlight off of themselves.

  25. Regardless of whatever the reason really is, it appears it can be only a single reason. One the female rep herself made the suggestion it could be. As to any argument it’s anything else, we had a saying when I was in the Air Force. “The appearance of impropriety is impropriety itself.” It doesn’t matter what it is, it’s only what it looks like. To me and pretty much the rest of the country it looks like pure old school racism. Whomever the rep that voted differently for her is has got some serious ‘splainin to do.

  27. I humbly disagree with many here. The major media and also the local media, are all extremely left leaning liberals and will never see the possible good this accomplished. Who cares what the rest of up north cares about us. I agree with what the Gov in the Ville did yesterday. These 2 will probably be sent back to the Gov body, and that is all right also, IMO. I doubt they will be bull horning in the well in the chamber anymore, if they do get back. Great learning experience for all. Edited to add; the women was not pounding on the rostrum, nor flashing signs to the cheap seats, nor bull horning. IMO that is why she didn't get booted.

  30. I don’t think there will be a major civil uprising, especially over this issue. This is just another case of people being exposed for who they are. As usual, I’m enjoying it. Change can be painful sometimes. As a pundit put it yesterday “Tennessee is giving a more abject lesson in Critical Race Theory than any AP History course possibly could .”

  34. Well, this was the lead story on the SeeBS Evening News. According to them, 3 brave reps were unjustly punished for protesting for more gun control. They twisted the story around to make it look like the "3" are innocent victims of politics and racism. Once again its not what you say. but how you say it. I sent my Representative a rather blunt e-mail expressing my anger and irritation on how this matter was handled. I suggest you all do the same. I am truly embarrassed and angry with my state's government right now.

  37. I haven't seen the actual "insurrection" but I was told she played a smaller part. Instead of using the bullhorn she stood off to the side. If that's not right, let me know. To your point, it doesn't matter if it's true or not as the optics alone are terrible. During his speech, one of the expelled members said that a Republican urinated in the seat of another lawmaker and wasn't punished. I would love to know that story.

  38. I went with Arms Fair. They have a good set up there. Separate office just for transfers and they're listed on all the major gun selling sites. Just click them in the drop down menu. Quick in and out, no muss, no fuss. Cost is $40 + $10 for Tics. $5 discount if you pay cash, which I did. $45 total for me.

  39. Brothers n Sisters... I'ma doubting the booting of these two thugs means anything in the big theme of things. The state legislature was well within their rights to do this under the Tennessee State Constitution. They sent a powerful message to all by expelling these idiots. The message is clear; " cause trouble, get sacked "... The news is all over this because it is, in fact, a bold, decisive, move by the TN State legislature. They love trouble and hate the Red States anyway. The only thing I think that could have been done better, was to round up and charge the miscreants that participated in this clown show event and to have booted that damnable Gloria Johnson as well. She has been causing trouble in Knoxville for a good while. The great Demorat, Lindon B Johnson, the last Demorat I ever liked had a saying:. " If ya want ta get along... Go along "... These three opportunistic pieces of trash were standing on the new made graves of six people, and using thuggery to push a political agenda. They didn't go along, they tried to use the " bully, mayhem, and intimidation " approach. This was basically an opportunistic temper tantrum because their pet legislation wasn't passed. No one should care about em. They are a minority in a majority opposition party state. They can never become the majority with stupid antics like this. I could care less what happens to this trash. Neither should you. The media squalling about the " mean Tennessee State Polititians" destroying " democracy " and unleashes " despotism " is the usual over the caterwauling. Don't worry about it. non worrying leroy...

  40. A few years back I was sitting on my front porch. It was getting ready to rain and the sky was very threatening. I was reading my Bible. All of a sudden, I felt a very warm sensation, and just as I felt the warmth a lightning bolt hit the transformer, on the pole, about 40' from where I was sitting. The hair raised on my body and I could feel static electricity all over my body. The clap of thunder jarred the whole house almost instantly. I have witnessed 125 MM and 175 MM howitzers fired and the thunder and percussion were as loud as they were. I actually seen my flesh, on my arms, indent as the tremendous shock wave pressure changed around me. Needless to say, I picked myself up, and went into the house. I don't watch any storms approach outside anymore. Edited to add; glad you were not hurt "Bersaguy."

  41. I too think it will contain "speek" about some of the laws that have passed recently, Abortion, Gays, Drag Shows, and a few other so called "anti-women" laws that the TN State Gov has past as of late. She left a suicide letter, so in fact, her intention seemed to be committing suicide by Cop with a hate filled sick mind. How else could one bring herself/himself to kill helpless innocent children. I have never witnessed such an all-out attempt to pass anti-gun laws in TN before. Just watched the fiasco on TV all afternoon. Expelled 2 representatives from the governing body in Nashville yesterday afternoon for their protest on the floor in Gov.

  42. Thanks! I bought a new P-01 from Cajun and they did the whole thing, including the hard chrome slide. It has their Pro Package (SKU 91199) and DA/SA is <7 lbs/3.5. I think I have around 1600 in it including the dot, LOK grips, shipping, and FFL. Wasn't cheap, but she's a shooter and a hellacious carry gun. Their website says they would do the milling like mine for $160.

  47. Doug, As my grandmother used to say, if it weren’t for Shiite luck we’d have no luck at all (Irish). When it rains it pours I have I believe a 40” lcd that’s been sitting in the closet since Black Friday. Fully functional, I’m not much of a TV watcher but she wanted to upgraded and we got a good deal on Black Friday using AMEX points. Off the top of my head I think it’s the picture quality that’s above 720. Not sure if the size is what you want for you’re living room. PM me/email and I’ll respond in the AM. You were more than kind to respond to my multiple emails with questions about the bersa my friends dad had that didn’t have a magazine. If we could make it work I’d be more than happy to clean some closet space and drop off somewhere not too far from Gordonsville. Scotty
