  3. Wanted one since I was a youngster and finally broke down and bought one. Shoots like a dream and operates as it should. Need to find a pistol to match it

  4. I went and pulled the individual images in full resolution and one provides the better picture of the view from the bottom where you can see the barrel’s failure point. It makes the overt damage make much more sense.

  5. Please go easy on me if this is in the wrong section but “deals & steals” looked woefully out of date on posts. So I was in Knoxville Tactical picking up received goods today and saw a pallet of these! NATO overrun $3.99 !!! This has always been a favorite overall design and it is nicely updated to LED & high impact polymer. As a kid I would always scratch up the nice painted olive drab finish something terrible. Well that too is no longer a problem. Just wanted to share in case anyone else loves these like I do.

  6. I picked this up today. This is Girsan's version of the Detective Model Hi-Power. The slide and barrel are 1" shorter than the standard Hi-Power at 3.88". Girsan calls it the MC P35 PI. As I understand it the "PI" stands for Private Investigator". Let me preface this by saying I do own an original FM Detective Model. These were made back in the early 90s by FM Argentina. AFAIK, FM was the only company to produce and sell a reliable compact Hi-Power clone. Its a wonderful pistol and I do love mine. However, they have become scarce and the last one I saw for sale went for about $1200. I don't really want to take a chance by carrying mine. So when I learned of Girsan's new clone, it really caught my interest. I've heard a lot of good things about Girsan. I found this one at Bud's the other day for $503. That's about $50 cheaper than I've seen one anywhere else. So I went for it. Anyway, I picked it up today. With tax, insurance transfer and TICS I have $605 in this gun. Sorry about the pics, I'm afraid I'm not much of a photographer. First impressions: On initial inspection the gun appears to be very well made. Fit of all parts is excellent. No sharp edges are noticeable. The plain black finish is smooth and seems quite solid. Nice 3-dot sights and an Ambi safety. Its a good looking gun. The bad: First off the grips suck. Feel completely wrong for my hands. But that's easy enough to fix. In fact I've already got a new set on the way and they should be here in the next day or so. BTW: this will be the only change to the gun's appearance that I will make. The really bad: OMG! The trigger on this thing is absolutely horrible! Long, extremely gritty and , according to my gauge, breaks inconsistently at between 9 & 10 lbs! Ok, this is gonna take some work. From the way it feels, I'm thinking that much of the problem is going to be in that magazine disconnect which it does have. That will be the first thing to go. We'll see what happens after that. Hi-Power triggers are notoriously hard to tune. But a smooth, clean 4-5 Lb trigger is possible. For what I got in it, I can afford to tinker with it a bit. Step one is to get it to the range in its box stock configuration and try various loads through it. That's if the rain will ever quit and I have a chance? Considering that lousy trigger, I'm not really looking for great accuracy. This will be a reliability test. Then I'll take it from there. Anyway, the goal is to have a reliable, compact Hi-Power carry gun. Stay tuned, I'll post updates as this project progresses.

  12. I ordered this AR from PSA 2 years ago. I have never fired it but can not find the box. I may have used the box to ship another firearm. Anyway the gun is still in new condition. I just have too many AR's and would like a New Condition Ruger American Ranch Rifle in 5.56 or 7.62 x 39 or a Ruger Mini 14 Tactical. $600 as shown or if you are going to use an optical sight, I can do $550 without the carry handle. If you are not a well established TGO member I will need to see a carry permit or a TN DL. Located in Lenoir City.

  13. SOLD Got this in a trade from another member here and just haven't shot it much, gonna put funds toward a new shotgun so no trades. It has a Legion Presision RMR cut slide with Glock barrel and internals and Amerglo night sights. I added the Handle It grips and SLR aluminum magwell and the Holoson EPS green dot. He said it had fired 100 rounds and I only put 3 or 4 mags through it so very low round count. Comes with backstraps, 3 Glock mags and a couple Bravo Concealment holsters, IWB and OWB. I did not get the box with the gun. $550 with no optic. $800 with optic.

  14. Believe it or not, I've had some positive results from people we would consider "anti-gun" on Facebook with that argument in the last few days. People are just running on emotion (as almost all liberals do), but when you force them to look at the facts it can make them think a little. I think we have a real chance at least softening some of these ignorant sheep if presented with hard facts, and most of these numbers I posted can be found on liberal sites (giving them credibility in their eyes). The people that really concern me are the people that know the facts I presented above, but choose to hide them or twist them. They are the ones trying to completely disarm us by any means necessary. They know that banning "assault weapons" won't do anything to prevent killings, and know that gives them a open door to ban other firearms. Now what their final plan is when we are completely disarmed I don't know, but I know it will be very bad.

  15. My daughter says everyone knows mattress stores are fronts for the mob... In seriousness, Look to see if the place has 5 years no interest or something. I always use that and pay it off in 58 months. Not a discount up front, but really is over the 5 years.

  16. Doug, As my grandmother used to say, if it weren’t for Shiite luck we’d have no luck at all (Irish). When it rains it pours I have I believe a 40” lcd that’s been sitting in the closet since Black Friday. Fully functional, I’m not much of a TV watcher but she wanted to upgraded and we got a good deal on Black Friday using AMEX points. Off the top of my head I think it’s the picture quality that’s above 720. Not sure if the size is what you want for you’re living room. PM me/email and I’ll respond in the AM. You were more than kind to respond to my multiple emails with questions about the bersa my friends dad had that didn’t have a magazine. If we could make it work I’d be more than happy to clean some closet space and drop off somewhere not too far from Gordonsville. Scotty

  21. If Vince is hooked on a custom build, maybe you aught to just gift him a receiver and let him build a complete gun from there. I had just about as much fun deciding on the parts and building the 10/22s as I do shooting them. I have one that I should call "my significant other" considering the damage it did to my bank account. But the 10/22 I treasure the most is a very light rifle build. I think I "only" have about a grand in this one:

  25. Of late, my sale/buy source is TGO. If I know you, just about anyplace is cool. Otherwise, local PD parking lot is my choice. Interesting, at least it was to me, side comment. Several years ago I called the PIO at local station and asked about "meets" there. I was told some had designated areas, others just asked you to park in high visibility area that could be seen. Aside from the trepidation many of us had fearing cameras and recordings of people selling, it's really not a bad idea.

  26. Not terribly expensive at all. Got mine at Home Depot. IIRC, a little mercury sensor opens and closes the vents according to temperature.

  27. Some folks like to use the off hand to guide the gun back into the holster. Commonly laying the hand on the top of the slide near the muzzle. I admit my own guilt in this until I finally broke myself of this bad habit.

  28. I truly hate it for him as well. Working ER for the past few decades I've seen similar related to using the non-gun hand to open or steady a less than rigid holster. Reholstering should be a cautious and deliberate act into a well made holster that doesn't collapse. Not saying that was what happened in this case, but I've seen wounds to the hip, lower extremities and even the non-gun hand that happened when reholstering, Hope he recovered well.

  29. There's a company that is selling surplus CZ75s here in Knoxville. These might make a great experimental platform for a RDS project. If anyone is interested, I'll dig up a link to one of their pistols on www.Gunbroker.com.

  34. They took a hit initially, but many have short memories and would buy from the devil himself if the price was right. I personally haven't stepped foot in there since, not only because of the woke stance, but because I am not impressed with their prices, offerings or customer service. I am sure they don't miss me, and that's ok, I will spend my money elsewhere.

  39. Vet them through buyer/seller feedback here on TGO. Never meet after dark, if you can at all avoid it. Always meet at a well populated, well trafficked location. Most police stations and sheriff's departments are perfectly fine with you using their parking lot for this. Some even have designated parking spots FOR online sales handoffs. Discuss with the buyer/selller ahead of time if anyone else will be present so that there are no surprises. GO ARMED. Be ready to use it if you have to. Don't leave it in the car, in the glovebox. Keep it on you. LISTEN TO YOUR GUT INSTINCTS. Be willing to drive away if ANYTHING feels off about the setting or the situation at all. The possibility of resulting negative feedback or hurt feelings are completely inconsequential. Your instincts exist for a reason, so trust them. And one last tactic: I have, in the past, gone to a rendezvous and taken my own backup with me. Another person who I knew I could trust to handle the situation if it went sideways. They were armed and as skilled or more so than I am. I circled the lot and let them out nearby so that they could monitor and quickly respond if things got ugly, but far enough away from the rendezvous point that they weren't easily spotted. Basically, learn to think like a predator. Think like a bad guy. Think about what you would do if you were up to no good, and then think about how to circumvent that.

The Zippo stays in the pocket of my M65 field jacket along with a Ranger Silva compass; which is always in the back seat of my truck. the 870 Tac14 and battle belt are covered by the M65. When tensions are high and riots are imminent, the shotgun and belt are replaced with my AR and load bearing vest/plate carrier. Depends on what Defcon we're on. Sorry for the edit....... But this what I carry every day Best regards Rod
