  1. Look ... I honestly don't see much hope for a positive outcome here. Your expectations are unrealistic and the origin of your complaint seems to be a sense of entitlement. I'll be glad to refund your Benefactor status, delete any sale ads that you may have posted, and wish you a happy life somewhere else if you agree that there isn't much chance in TGO satisfying you.

  5. Yeah, an "I'll take it" with a delay condition is not an I'll take it. It's "I'll take it" and most convenient that gets it. A weeks delay is a sellers discretion to agree to or not. The seller has the right to accept what is most convenient for him. An "I'll take it" does not give the buyer the ability to dictate the terms after the fact.

  6. Yesterday I took my 4.25" Prodigy out for the first time to do a limited function test before swapping over to the optic and sighting it in. Wasn't thinking range report having only planned a quick 50 rounds on top of the (very shameful) fact that I haven't fired a pistol since last October. I ended up at 75 rounds and very taken with how it did. The short of it: This gun just plain shoots and as cliche as it is, it makes anyone look good. It ran flawlessly over the rounds fired. I found it well balanced and surprisingly soft shooting. It is beyond easy to shoot, and shoot well. Out of the box, the gun has great fit. There is no perceptible play in the slide to rail fit, the bull barrel lock-up is tight. Even with that, it quite slick. Slowing cycling the slide there are no rough points, consistently smooth all the way to the lock. The trigger. I had the option to handle 3 different Prodigy's the day I bought mine. They had some variation. One in particular had over twice the reset travel of the other 2 and a higher pull weight. It was out. The other 2 were closer. Very similar overall fit and feel, but one had a tick less creep. It was out. On getting home, I dry fired it a bit. If you are being a trigger snob and slowly break the trigger over 2 to 3 seconds, you notice the creep as the sear takes its sweet time riding over what must be some pretty high hammer hooks. Safety first. On my digital (after range), trigger breaks @ 3.5lbs averaged over 6 pulls. In live fire normal trigger use, the creep is not noticeable. Pretty nice for a factory setup. No plans to modify for now. The first 50 rounds were shot a full size steels @ 50 yards. The factory optic cover plate has a higher sight compared to the one on the optic mounting plate. Over the first couple mags I found it shoots relatively high. Ended up finding a hold at the bottom of plate was needed, netting consistently higher torso hits. While I was watching for berm strikes to walk it in, it struck me how little the muzzle was rising and how quickly it dropped back on target though I wasn't necessarily trying. I credit the inherent 1911 goodness, platforms balance, and the modern 2011 grip's improved (for me) ergos. I realize the grip is polarizing for many, but for me the extra girth fit my hands well and I like its more aggressive texture. I plinked the next couple mags at the steels to wrap up. I played around with support hand hold being a new grip for me. Small errors are limited by how controllable this gun is and the amount of feedback it provides. Even with a 5 month break introducing some consistency problems, its was relatively forgiving and gave good repeatability. Felt really happy with how it performed. Got back to my truck, I looked at the board under the backseat. OK, got to do it. I walked my board out to 15 yds. This was my second target that had 13 rounds fired at it. I am pleased how great this gun shoots. It is accurate, beyond my ability. No doubt more skilled practiced hands would give very impressive results. Very curious to see how it does with the optic.

  8. My 7th grade English teacher at BGA wrote “Life is not fair” on the chalk board the first day of class. He was also the head of the middle school. He told us we needed to learn that fact, that life will not be fair. In this modern time of “everything should be fair” I have tried to impart that lesson to my daughter.

  10. Its molding flash. The pic really makes it look worse than it is. Worse on that side. One of the downsides to not being $2300. There are a couple other things that showed its lower cost origins. Overall the finish is great. But they drop parts or toss them around in bins. The outer edge of the muzzle crown shows couple mm indents from barrels smacking one another or something. And the rear sight had a ding that rolled into the notch . I called springfield and they sent me a new cover plate so they are good about the service side.

  11. I own 2 of John’s guns and spent a bunch of time on the phone with him but sadly never got to meet him face to face. As far as I can tell he treated everyone like they were his friends and not just customers. He’s left a giant void in the handgun world that won’t likely be filled for quite some time. Already miss him! RIP

  13. Not me, but my older boy.... We drove over for a 4-H BB and air rifle competition at the Rutherford County Ag Center Saturday. It was his first competition. He was nervous and it showed in his first round but he settled in reasonably. I think he learned a bit we can apply at Bend of the River next weekend. I learned a couple things as well. Murfreesboro traffic is no joke. Holy smokes! I think I could've walked to lunch faster. We drove back through the country a bit across 96 and 70. Really pretty farm country out there.

  17. There are too many factors involved in situations like this for us to make a one-size fits all policy to address it. That is why we have buyer/seller feedback as a tool for people on TGO to use. When you post that you are interested in an item, it's normal to expect the seller to at least respond to you - but the fact is that they are under no obligation to do so, and your act of expressing interest in the item does not constitute some sort of contract with them to sell to you. There are plenty of good reasons why either party in a potential transaction might want to back away from the deal, including the right to exercise their personal discretion / gut-instinct if they feel that some part of the transaction is suspicious. I do find it somewhat strange that three different sellers have done this to you, so I would like to know more. Use the feature to report the threads in question so that we can look into it.

  18. I would agree that first " I'll Take It" should be a settled deal by both parties. However, PM sent does not mean much to me. I send PM's quite often to Sellers just asking questions. I may put PM Sent just to make sure the Seller sees that I have sent him a message.

  21. Selling my Ed Brown Alpha Carry in 45acp. Has less than 500 rounds through it, the gun was purchased probably 8 to 10 years ago I cant remember exactly. If you know about Ed Browns they are a top tier 1911 that are tried and true. It has an aftermarket G10 "grenade" style grip from VZ grips. Not interested in any trades. Looking for $2200.

  25. Welcome back to TGO! We moved away in 2017 too but returned to middle TN in 2021. I never left TGO as it was a piece of sanity in my time away. It's the same crazy place you left; with many of the same crazy inmates.

  28. I consider it a "gut" gun. It goes bang and could save your life if put it in a tight spot. Its about the size of a keltec p series maybe ? I can probably find something similar in the safe to put it beside for a reference

  32. How the heck is anyone supposed to know your post count on AKfiles and reputation to make transactions on TGO. This a regional/state forum. Nothing like a big city guy coming to a small town to declare his importance. Tends to rub the small town guys the wrong way no matter how big the city was. You gotta earn your reputation where you're at not, where your from.

  33. Also consider that you only have 21 posts. Many folks here strongly prefer to do business with long standing and established members who they know. We had a thread about such things just recently. It simply boils down to their gun, their choice.

  34. I can appreciate it. Tennessee is a very long state. Happens to all of us. True, some more than others but I've had this happen to me quite a bit. I just understand, if things are in the Memphis area, Chattanooga, or Knoxville areas I'll probably miss out. I can offer but I understand the reality. And rarely, if ever will I ship. Just not worth the hassle and risk most if the time.

  35. Ok @gregintenn does this look better? I had a BugBuster scope from an AR build so I thought I would see if it fit. The K6 glass was just not that good anymore. I might also just go with a peep sight.

  38. I would slap it in it and try it first. If it is decent (I would think 1" outside to outside) with decent ammo at 50 yards would be about as good as that gun will do on a regular basis unless it is an exceptional example. If it's worse than that, you could try bedding it, but I probably wouldn't put a whole lot of time into it if it doesn't shoot halfway decent to start.

  39. It's what I thought cornbread should look like LOL. Never knew any different. My father and his family are from Soso,MS. His father was named "Boss Jackson". Mean old ####! Ethel Knight was my great aunt. She wrote "The Echo of the Black Horn"...one of the many versions of my mongrel heritage. I enjoyed the movie as well. Jones County is it's own kind of special. My MIL, Winnie Sue, has a 12 foot gator in the finger lake in her back yard. Fish and Game have removed a couple like that for her. I personally never cared for gator, but I do love some mudbugs! They're easier to manage.

  40. I've never seen cornbread rise that much. I guess both self-rising flour and cornmeal will do that. And "Free State of Jones" is a good movie.

  42. The Blue Book is useless. The prices are out of date the moment it was printed. It does make a great general reference book though. Checking completed auctions on GunBroker is your best bet. This will tell you how desirable a gun is and what they are actually selling for right now. As mentioned, post 'em here. We got some knowledgeable folks on this site. Plus, if she decides to sell, lots of us would be interested. Warn your friend to NOT sell anything until she's done some research. There are unfortunately unscrupulous people who will try to take advantage of her lack of knowledge and try to buy the guns at ridiculously low prices to cheat her.
