  2. Very nice Ruger SP101 .357 Rarely fired. Bought as a defensive carry. 3 sets of grips. The wood ones are very pretty. I'm only interested in trading for Kimber K6S in .357. Or $550 cash. Must have current TN DL or ID. Sold with Bill of Sale.

  5. Good grief. Well I wish him best and hope he heals quickly. I prefer to shoot at outdoor ranges, like the Action Pistol range at ORSA where it's only myself and or a few trusted friends. That said I do shoot several times a month at Range USA. Good people and good RSO's, but you definitely always have to be on the lookout for those shooting around you. It's a national phenomena. After 50 years in healthcare, ER/ICU I've come to the conclusion that there is a great deal more "negligence" than the is "accidental"...

  6. Discount?? for everything on that gun I think that is a great deal. If he were in Knoxville or I were in Nashville I would take it for the asking price.

  8. Many years ago, my friend Tom and I went to the Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot. We stopped at a table which was full of Linebaugh firearms. Tom is one of those history buffs and he proceeded to inform this gentleman at the booth, about the history of Linebaugh designs. After Tom finishes his recitation , the guy at the booth laughs and says, you sure know your history, let me introduce myself, I'm John Linebaugh.

  9. So I did the same thing to the Sears branded Winchester I have. Its factory finish was meh. It was a harder finish to remove, and I ended up having to use Citrus Strip to get the hard finish off. I still used the acetone/0000 steel wool and denatured alcohol/0000steel wool for the final prep. The rifle as got it from chance77. The finish was much better than on the Model 45, but I still thought it had more potential. After stripping with citrus strip, acetone and denatured alcohol. I think I left a remnant of finish. After the first two applications of the Winchester Restorations Stock Oil (a tinted linseed oil recipe devised by long time Winchester restorer John Kay) After a few more applications and time to cure. (the lighting is different in the last photo. It did end up darker than above, but not quite as drastically as it looks)

  13. Well, this one sucks. I've not had it long & wanted one for yeeeears, but I've got some major upcoming expenses that have to take priority. I can always buy another one later. It still sucks though. Pretty much mint condition, no marks anywhere I can find & a low round count. Not sure how many @AuEagle put through it, previous to my ownership, but I've put less than 100 shots down the pipe. It comes with 1, 10 round & 1, 20 round mag, plus the sling, Burris Scout 2-7x32 scope in Leupold rings. Also included is the USGI M14 manual of arms. It's a rock solid outfit & great fun to shoot! It has the least recoil of any rifle I've ever shot, bigger than .223! Never had a misfire or malfunction. $2000 all in or $1700 for the bare rifle, both mags & sling, no scope or rings (what I have in it)

  16. Mossberg Maverick HS12 Over Under, 12GA, with IC and Cylinder 18-1/2" barrels Used once to rest function. Works perfectly. Very simple and unique. HS12 model intended for home security / home defense. Safety selector on the tang also switches between which barrel fires first between top and bottom. Way more usable than the Shockwave style firearms because this is still super short overall length but can have a stock. Not an NFA item — legally a shotgun. This is the shortest legal stocked shotgun you will find. Can also be quickly taken down in half for easy storage in a bag. Available online at Sportsman’s Warehouse for $490. Hope to get $400 because it’s barely been used, it’s been taken care of, and it comes with a light. Make an offer.

  19. Linebaugh was a big fan of the .45 Colt cartridge. He was especially fond of the S&W Model 25-5 in this caliber. Like everything else he pushed the big Colt round to its limits. For many years most folks believed the S&W 25 couldn't stand up to anything more than standard velocity ammo and it was downright dangerous to try to pump it up. Linebaugh proved that to be wrong. While he did warn against trying to "magnumize" the .45 Colt, he often pumped it up into the +P range with no ill effects on the big S&W at all.

  30. I have a certified 40+year veteran electrician and his two sons working on replacing the complete panel and all breakers and I told him to replace anything he thinks need replacing. He got here at 6 AM with his helpers And said I should be able to have power very shortly after the inspector marks it as GOOD and the power company replaces the meter. About 6 months ago I told Tommy I wanted him to pick me up 2 Kerosene heaters and 15 gallons of Kerosene and showed him the ones I wanted at Home Depot where his company gets a discount. He tried to talk me out of it but I have two and been heating my house with them since the fire. Tommy said how did you know you would need the heaters and I said GUT FEELING....LOL! Like Boy Scout slogan goes. Always be prepared! Believe me the pup, Rosie gets lots of rewards. Here is a picture of the hero!

  31. Hi, I'm Briggs, and I'm a leveraholic. It's been 19 days since I bought a lever gun..... So, the Sears Model 45 (Sears branded Marlin 336RC) in 35 Remington arrived and she is sweet. The bluing is in really good condition for a 59 year old girl. The furniture is in great shape except for the finish. I removed the wood and stripped the old finish off using denatured alcohol, acetone and hexane. I used my Winchester Stock oil (slightly tinted linseed oil mixed with mineral spirits) to do a hand rubbed oil finish on the wood. These photos are after the first application. Several applications, with curing between, were ultimately used. Here is how she looks now with a vintage Weaver K6 scope. I can't wait to get her out and put some lead down range.

  33. I only buy/sell with personal friends or TGOers. For TGO I only deal with people with solid iTrader ratings and they can't all be from the same 3 or 4 people pumping up one another's scores. I'll check the people giving feedback to the potential buyer/seller if it's not one of our regular posters. Fortunately, some of ya'll are also prolific traders I'll usually see feedback on a buyer or seller from a screen name or 3 that I recognize or may have done business with in the past. If not, I move on. Other than that, +1 to what David said.

The Republican Supermajority in the Senate Judiciary showed its true colors, refusing to allow long guns as 42 other states do with no permitand 4 more do with a permit. With friends like this...

  39. He was a pioneer in big bore handguns. From Big Horn Armory: John Linebaugh passed away on March 19, 2023, at his home. A fellow Wyomingite, Linebaugh was an American gunsmith who gained international renown for creating custom revolvers in the largest calibers in the world. He invented the .500 Linebaugh caliber — the first successful .50 caliber revolver (and cartridge) in 1986. He is also credited with inventing the .475 Linebaugh cartridge, which he perfected in 1988. "John was a pioneer in the use of big bore, heavy bullets in handguns. He predates Smith & Wesson's 500 S&W by almost 20 years. They probably would not have created the X Frame guns without his inspiration,” commented Greg Buchel, president of Big Horn Armory. He continued, “his handguns were near perfection. The first time I fired one of his guns many years ago was at a range event he and I both attended. He handed me his gun out of his holster. The first thing I noticed was how perfect the fit and function were. It wasn't necessarily the prettiest gun I ever saw, but even after years of use and who knows how many rounds it fired, the gun was mechanical jewelry." The friendship between our team and Linebaugh began at the Wyoming Outdoorsman Annual fundraiser several years ago when Linebaugh approached Buchel at his table. After chatting for a while, the idea for a collaboration was born. The idea was discussed several times in the following months, and one night over a couple of bourbons, the two decided to produce a limited edition, super-premium boxed set containing one 500 Linebaugh lever gun and one 500 Linebaugh revolver. Included would be exhibition-grade wood, octagon barrels, and color case hardened receivers all packaged in an oak presentation box. “John’s work and friendship will never be forgotten. We have truly lost one of the greats. Our entire Big Horn Armory family sends our deepest condolences to his family and to all who were blessed to know him,” said Buchel.
