Hi, I'm Briggs, and I'm a leveraholic. It's been 19 days since I bought a lever gun..... So, the Sears Model 45 (Sears branded Marlin 336RC) in 35 Remington arrived and she is sweet. The bluing is in really good condition for a 59 year old girl. The furniture is in great shape except for the finish. I removed the wood and stripped the old finish off using denatured alcohol, acetone and hexane. I used my Winchester Stock oil (slightly tinted linseed oil mixed with mineral spirits) to do a hand rubbed oil finish on the wood. These photos are after the first application. Several applications, with curing between, were ultimately used. Here is how she looks now with a vintage Weaver K6 scope. I can't wait to get her out and put some lead down range.8 points

I have a certified 40+year veteran electrician and his two sons working on replacing the complete panel and all breakers and I told him to replace anything he thinks need replacing. He got here at 6 AM with his helpers And said I should be able to have power very shortly after the inspector marks it as GOOD and the power company replaces the meter. About 6 months ago I told Tommy I wanted him to pick me up 2 Kerosene heaters and 15 gallons of Kerosene and showed him the ones I wanted at Home Depot where his company gets a discount. He tried to talk me out of it but I have two and been heating my house with them since the fire. Tommy said how did you know you would need the heaters and I said GUT FEELING....LOL! Like Boy Scout slogan goes. Always be prepared! Believe me the pup, Rosie gets lots of rewards. Here is a picture of the hero!6 points

Many years ago, my friend Tom and I went to the Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot. We stopped at a table which was full of Linebaugh firearms. Tom is one of those history buffs and he proceeded to inform this gentleman at the booth, about the history of Linebaugh designs. After Tom finishes his recitation , the guy at the booth laughs and says, you sure know your history, let me introduce myself, I'm John Linebaugh.4 points

So I did the same thing to the Sears branded Winchester I have. Its factory finish was meh. It was a harder finish to remove, and I ended up having to use Citrus Strip to get the hard finish off. I still used the acetone/0000 steel wool and denatured alcohol/0000steel wool for the final prep. The rifle as got it from chance77. The finish was much better than on the Model 45, but I still thought it had more potential. After stripping with citrus strip, acetone and denatured alcohol. I think I left a remnant of finish. After the first two applications of the Winchester Restorations Stock Oil (a tinted linseed oil recipe devised by long time Winchester restorer John Kay) After a few more applications and time to cure. (the lighting is different in the last photo. It did end up darker than above, but not quite as drastically as it looks)3 points

Winchester 94 in .30-30. This ain’t a show piece by any means. The furniture has some nicks and dents, but isn’t terrible. I’m sure with a little elbow grease and some sandpaper it could be greatly improved. The action is loose and rattles Now that I’ve got the cons out-of-the-way, here are the pros. If you want a cheap lever action, this is your gun. If you want to experiment with modernizing one, but don’t want to carve up a nice gun or invest $2000 into the endeavor, this is also your gun. $550 located in Jackson Sold to Kimber4519113 points

Thank you my friend and the man and his sons came very highly recommended by people in this area that have been using him for many years. He has been doing these kind of repairs for 40+ years and his sons grew up helping him. He is a certified electrician and so are both his sons and they sub contract themselves out to electrical contractors when their father does not have work. When Dad has work they help him first. I will sure be glad to be fixed up again so I can get rid of that generator noise out on my patio and 350 feet of extention cords running all over the house operating things. Tommy was able to borrow the stuff from his company and I didn't lose any freezer stuff at all.2 points

CZ 75B, full size or compact. Also, Sarsilmaz 2000, a very good pistol, close clone of the CZ 75B.2 points

Yes dogs are great for sure and I taught her to come to me if and when a detector starts beeping and she did come to me and start barking to wake me up. The ones I have all over the house operate on batteries and when a battery gets weak the unit chirps and I can't hear the chirp but when she comes to me and gets my attention I know what she wants and I replace all 8 batteries because I don't know which one is bad.2 points

Well, this one sucks. I've not had it long & wanted one for yeeeears, but I've got some major upcoming expenses that have to take priority. I can always buy another one later. It still sucks though. Pretty much mint condition, no marks anywhere I can find & a low round count. Not sure how many @AuEagle put through it, previous to my ownership, but I've put less than 100 shots down the pipe. It comes with 1, 10 round & 1, 20 round mag, plus the sling, Burris Scout 2-7x32 scope in Leupold rings. Also included is the USGI M14 manual of arms. It's a rock solid outfit & great fun to shoot! It has the least recoil of any rifle I've ever shot, bigger than .223! Never had a misfire or malfunction. $2000 all in or $1700 for the bare rifle, both mags & sling, no scope or rings (what I have in it)1 point

Black Aces Tactical Pro Series S-Max semi-auto 12 gauge shotgun Walnut furniture 18.5” barrel Comes with birds head grip and shoulder stock, both completely legal shotgun configurations. Birds head grip has Recoil Strap (retail $35) by Demonstrated Concepts attached Also comes with hard case and chokes. Capacity 5+1 Currently has Monstrum picatinny rail installed, was very difficult to figure out which rail would fit the gun, so you can have it. The Holosun 403b retails $120-$180 so take it for $120. Only used twice to test function and then sat in my safe for a year or so. Gun is out of stock online, but is listed for $409 at blackacestactical.com. Asking $350 for the gun. Make an offer: cash sale or trade for the right thing. Total package = $4701 point

Mossberg Maverick HS12 Over Under, 12GA, with IC and Cylinder 18-1/2" barrels Used once to rest function. Works perfectly. Very simple and unique. HS12 model intended for home security / home defense. Safety selector on the tang also switches between which barrel fires first between top and bottom. Way more usable than the Shockwave style firearms because this is still super short overall length but can have a stock. Not an NFA item — legally a shotgun. This is the shortest legal stocked shotgun you will find. Can also be quickly taken down in half for easy storage in a bag. Available online at Sportsman’s Warehouse for $490. Hope to get $400 because it’s barely been used, it’s been taken care of, and it comes with a light. Make an offer.1 point

Based on inflation, if you add up what I paid for the rifle, shipping, tax, and FFL fees. I’m right about there with paying the same price.1 point

Speaking of lever guns, have any of you seen this: https://www.offgridweb.com/gear/new-bond-arms-lever-action-ar-15/amp/ It will be a Lever action lower for AR uppers. Kind of f-ugly, but a suppressed, 300BO lever would be kind of cool.1 point

For used vinyl you need to go to Alison's Record Shop in West Nashville. Definitely visit Grimey's, and while you're there The Groove isn't far away. Visit Vinyl Tap while you're at it for a frosty beverage and some more record shopping. Riverside Grill Shack is close to there if you want a fantastic burger.1 point

Hi Briggs, I also am a leverholic who hasn't bought a lever in 3 days. Great job on the stock. It looks fantastic.1 point

Well unfortunately I had to let a bunch go to a good home. Some of my medical bills came due and well... They can be replaced, I kept three, 44mag UnFluted Cylinder, CLARK CUSTOM PPC, and a mod. 58 41mag. I've got this one coming in this week,22/32 Kit Gun in 22lr made around 1935-1938, I'll just start over almost forgot I did pick up a Smith&Wesson mod 4 Top Break in 32. Nickel Verizon. Here's some pictures I'll post better ones when I can.1 point

Glad to hear you're OK. I just replaced my smoke detectors last week. One of them got to chirping even with a brand new battery in it. Considering they were already here when I bought the house 30 years ago, I just went ahead and replaced them all. I do have a couple of fire extinguishers as well. Its good to be prepared.1 point

Glad to hear you and Rosie are OK. Sounds like she deserves a few extra treats and head pats.1 point

I think once that spring breaks in, it won't be much of an issue. Also picked up a Holosun 507k x2 Green Dot. Just put it on yesterday.1 point

Unfortunately, they won't. To those companies anything less than 5 to 6 figures isn't worth the time. They typically won't send someone to testify on behalf of the company and that will get a case dismissed instantly. Most investigators know this and won't proceed forward on behalf of the company without assurance they will attend. Now if you as a person had someone stopped locally with your card info loaded onto another card with a strip that's an easy case as long as you the victim attends court.1 point

Everyone I know who had their credit card info stolen had it happen at a restaurant. No way I’m letting someone walk off with my card.1 point

I understand the logic to using what the local LEOs use. However, Prosecutors have been successful convicting self defense victims because hollow points and other expanding rounds were used. The Anti Gun DAs sway the jury by convincing them that the bullets were meant to "kill and maim" and painted the victim as a blood thirsty killer instead of the victim. Anti 2nd Amendment states suck! I figure a few good FMJ rounds will do the trick without giving the Anti Gun DAs any fuel for their jury manipulation. I thank God every morning for allowing me to settle down here in eastern Tennessee / America.1 point

hopefully I will never have to experience actual performance in my reloads. Yes, I have a few hundred rounds of reloaded XTPs. but I will trust the factory results and buy in kind. Carry what local LEO uses or FBI recomendations. Those tests will stand in court if necessary. Won't invite or create a rabbit hole for a prosecuter.1 point
