  1. Got my monthly newsletter from CMP today. They said that they have just received a large shipment of .30 carbine, .22 pistol, M2 ball, and .22 Long Rifle surplus ammunition. They are currently inventorying it and expect it to go on sale in the spring. Depending on price and origin, I just might stock up. Watch for it.

  6. I'm either older or from a more depressed area, I only got 2 cents for pop bottles and $1/yard. When I got big enough I bailed hay for a $1/hour and a great farmers wife lunch.

  8. Yep; I remember trading "Coke bottles - EVERYTHING was called a 'Coke bottle' no matter what came in it" for 3 cents a bottle

  11. Interesting piece I took on trade. Friend of mine got this for his HS graduation in 1979 and never fired it. It's a new in box, 1979 Ruger stainless .44 percussion cap black powder revolver, 7.5" barrel, that was the Cadillac of cap and ball pistols back then. Has the papers and factory nipple wrench. I know Taylors & Company makes cartridge conversion cylinders for these. $750 for this one, FTF Murfreesboro/Eagleville area

  13. As the General Assembly moves forward, the strangle hold of those who live to deny the rights and privileges contained in the Constitutions of the State and Union are about their sinister work. Failure to stand up and be heard is the sustenance that feeds that monster. Those of us who portend to be supporters of the 2nd Amendment spend hours typing and snipping at each other on forums, yet how many actually avail themselves of the Opportunities to act on their charge to "instruct their representatives" as levied in Article 1 Section 23 of our State Constitution? The Senate has mandated that every 2nd Amendment bill be heard in Judiciary March 7th. This mandated by Chairman Gardenhire, (who by the way will again this year, champion and sponsor the attempt to give the children of illegals a huge tax break via offering them in-state tuition to our colleges and universities). It is his desire to General Sub (kill) as many 2nd Amendment issues as possible by this tactic. Know full well that the House will have trouble getting these bills moving in the respective committees in that chamber by that time and the "will" of the Senate is to consider nothing that is not moving in the House when it is put on notice in the Senate. If there is not an outcry of disapproval from the true masters of government (The People) they will once again shred the ability to enjoy the true rights and privileges contained in our Constitutions, but that of the State and Union, we have no one to blame but ourselves. If you snooze, you loose. If an issue is killed this year, it is dead next as well.

  14. I will be posting the basis of a letter that needs to be sent to every Senator, it speaks to their duty and the fact we all know what they swear to God to do, but fail on most accounts. I appreciate your efforts and words, next week will be very important.

  15. I have an unfired flawless one of these guys in my safe that I’m about to release into the wild. They are unobtainium and crazy sought after. I would trade even just to complete my Israeli collection if you are interested. I have other new unfired treasures as well but considering this jewel is going to hit the market for around $2600, I thought that I might mention it.

  22. Hi EvilAdam, I have an early 16" para DSA FAL. It has the DS prefix and chromed lined barrel. I also have the original para folder it came with and will include that with the rifle. I'm a tall guy and the LOP was to short for me so I changed it out to the magpul one. Here are some pics, https://imgur.com/a/ScyZ4gj. Let me know if your interested. Thanks

  30. I said the same thing. The only reason why they didn't kill someone on the other side of I40 is because the median had a huge slope that kept them contained to the grass. That type of cable barrier seemed completely ineffective and really concerned me. It's not like it was a big vehicle either.

  33. I grew up in the shadow of a nuclear power plant. Assuming that would be a prime target, we were comfortable with the idea of a bright light and nothing more. Humility is one of the things I think Eastern culture does far better than Western culture.

  34. I used to work for the Navy in close proximity to warships, including ballistic missile subs, and special weapons. I always told my wife that in the event of a nuclear war, I hope we were both standing under the first burst. I'm fairly certain that I would not want to survive that kind of cataclysm. I noticed something interesting about the Japanese during the Fukajima disaster, though. There were a lot of victims of that situation, but unlike Americans would have been, they were very orderly. When relief supplies arrived the Japanese queued up and waited their turns. Perhaps their society has a better chance of surviving a huge disaster than does ours.

  35. So I ordered a safe from them on 08/05/22. Did the 18 months same as cash. Was told 8-10 weeks to receive the safe from Liberty and 3-5 weeks for delivery to me. Called in late October and got told a shipment was coming and hopefully get it around Thanksgiving. Got the bankruptcy notice. Called the bank today. They are canceling the loan and refunding all funds I've paid. Guess I got lucky I financed it.

  36. @crc4 I went and checked out about 4 different places prior to ordering a safe through Spartan. I knew a few people who personally bought from them and were happy with it. I researched their reviews across a variety of the TN stores and some other ones that popped up on google. Overall they were reviewed positively. But online reviews are just that, online review. Who knows the truth behind it. Oddly 2 months after ordering the safe, the manager at Murfreesboro store sent me an email asking to leave a positive review for him on their pages. I never responded, as why would I rate your store before even getting the product? Obviously now it all makes sense. To be fair, do you look up every single company/business you order from off the internet or store you shop at in person with the BBB before purchasing? I'm going to tell you I wont waste my time doing that for everything I order. Seems a bit overkill to me, but if you do, more power to you! But you are right, the more you looked at Spartan the more suspicious they became! For those going after Liberty, you may think in some sort of way they could be held liable... But honestly I feel we would just be displacing our anger. Spartan is the thief. No one else. I bet this has already hurt Liberty's brand enough. My buddy who also bought a safe at the same time with me from spartan (his credit card already got his refund, so he lucked out) could not even get anyone at Liberty to contact him about ordering another safe. So he went with another brand entirely. So I'm sure not only is this bad publicity, but I'm sure they're losing customers. And probably losing some more who cant drop another 5 grand to replace what was never delivered from spartan. CRC4 - Another reason I made this thread was to vent a bit and empathize with the others in this situation. Because you are right, I do not need to let this continue to bother me. It sucks. Ill continue to keep tabs on the situation. But I am going to move on and work to earn that money back. Definitely a lesson in up front cash payments on a long eta delivery. A very sour lesson.
