  1. As reported in several outlets - it looks like one of the officers seen snapping pictures did in fact share it with others via text including a “female acquaintance.” From The Commercial Appeal: Of course her phone will be subject to discovery. If those texts shows prior history and that he was targeting Nichols to get revenge on her that will be devastating to the defense. If I was the prosecutor, I’d absolutely argue taking his charges to first degree murder.

  6. I am a collector, with an especially soft spot for Marlins and Winchesters. If I could only have one, it would be a model 94 or equivalent from one of those two manufacturers, carbine length, 357Mag. Marlin, Winchester or Rossi on a budget because these are more or less true to the classic design. Get one without a cross-bolt safety if possible, which is going to push your budget up towards $1000+. Don't get a Henry (fine rifles, I own several) unless it is a side gate loader. Nothing is more un-John Wayne than pulling a magazine tube sleeve out the front of your manly rifle and loading cartridges in the nose like a kid's .22LR. This is your one lever gun; get the whole and proper experience. Carbine length to enjoy the handy nature of this lovely rifle. Rifles get front heavy and if you ever want to play from horseback or in cowboy action you'll wish it were shorter. 357Mag because 38Spc is just about the cheapest way you can enjoy a centerfire lever gun, and you still have the 357Mag on tap to take down game if you want. Enjoy! The lever gun is one of the best things about shooting, period.

  7. If they are able to prove it wasn’t locked, don’t you think they could use that technology/expertise to discourage burglary? I’ve about decided the entire police/court system is nothing more than a revenue generator.

  8. Just another stupid law taking away freedoms. I'm sorry but if my vehicle is locked (all my vehicles are locked, even in my driveway, 100% of the time), and someone breaks into it, how does that make me a criminal? How does adding something else to lock a firearm or ammunition up in help? Anything can be broken into. Let's put the blame where it belongs. We cannot idiot or criminal proof everything. Geez, off to write more letters to my representatives.

  9. So, I put my gun and ammo in the trunk, as directed by the proposed law. I then lock my car and leave. Some douche smashes out my window, rifles through my car, pops the trunk (now accessible since the car is open) and steals my gun. It’s still stolen but I guess I am safe from prosecution? Something tells me all guns will be stolen from “locked trunks” in the future

  10. There’s some wiggle room as the ceilings are set for pilot safety and airframe longevity, but yes, I do. Can they exceed them, yes. Is it safe to do so? It gets real sketchy real fast. (This is based off of my understanding of the F-16s that I worked on when I was in the AF.)

  15. Just some friendly advice I keep up with the truck market a lot and you won’t be able to touch a pick up truck for that amount of money but I suggest a Tahoe or Yukon. They are great vehicles and their priced pretty reasonable probably get you in about the 5K mark And you’ll have a pretty solid one. I’ve had a couple and they run forever ride good and do everything you need the most part. Good hunting

  18. So, if one was looking to add to their collection, say a Marlin 36 or 336, and currently, one has levers in calibers .30-30, .32WS, and 44mag, should said new Marlin be in an existing caliber (.30-30 or 32WS) or maybe something new like 35 Remington? Or some other pistol caliber? Thoughts?

  19. I just got this yesterday and mounted it on my Pistol Caliber Carbine to try it out. Haven't even fired a gun with it on yet. I have decided that I want a larger optic for the PCC. But this is a perfect optic for a pistol or maybe an AR15 or similar. It is their Dual Illumination model so it will never need a battery. No on/off switch, it is just always on. Perfect SHTF optic as it will work for decades as is, no batteries required. It uses Tritium-phosphor for illumination in low light and fiber optics (like their ACOG) in brighter light. I choose the Amber Triangle reticle because if you are shooting for speed you can aim with the entire triangle. But, if you are shooting for precision, you can use just the very tip top of the triangle. So it is the best of both IMHO. 12.9 MOA for speed but also ~1 MOA at the tip for precision. I can still return this item so I am FIRM on my price of $425. I got it on sale at a great price. This same package is now $590 at OpticsPlanet. I am only listing it here to potentially pass on this deal to another TGO member. If it does not sell in a couple of days, I will just return it for a refund. FTF Transaction in Murfreesboro. Will ship if buyer pays actual cost of shipping. This comes with a Picatinny rail mount as well as the standard RMR footprint.

  28. I read in several places that those balloons operate at very low pressure. Plus the altitude and materials are a major factor. It don't just pop like a regular toy balloon. It was stated that you could shoot a hundred 20MM holes in it and the helium would still bleed off so slowly that it could take days for it to come down and you'd never be able to predict where.

  29. The ideal feature would be a Dash Cam that has Bluetooth and sends the video directly to my phone. My dashcam doesn't do this but I haven't had any issues retrieving the data on my computer. I've captured 3 different wrecks on mine. Mine is always recording while I drive and will supposedly record if my vehicle is hit while I'm parked. Viofo is the brand. Around $100 on Amazon.

  33. They used to make Double Cola in my hometown of Chattanooga down on Broad Street. They came out with the first 16 oz. bottle and it was cheap, but boy was it S W E E T! I wondered if the "double" in Double Cola was the sugar! RC was okay. Loved 7UP in the green bottle. And the best "Rush, rush for Orange Crush!" 34. It's going to be be one of 3 things: 1. A false alarm in which case you don't want the alarm to keep blaring. Turn it off. 2. An intruder who was scared off by the alarm. the threat is gone. Turn it off. 3. An intruder who wasn't scared off and the cops are 40 minutes away. You need to be able to listen for the intruder, hear and be heard on the phone call from the alarm central station/police, and possibly give the intruder commands that can be heard and understood. Turn it off. Side note: Check with ADT to see if your volume can be adjusted. A home alarm doesn't need to be loud enough the wake the dead 3 doors down. It just needs to wake you up and let an intruder know that an alarm has been triggered. An NCAA basketball gymnasium buzzer isn't necessary. If not, consider terminating ADT and getting a new alarm that doesn't suck and costs less. You can get a system where you can adjust the volume and duration of the alarm. SimpliSafe for example (lots of others do the same) lets you adjust the volume of the alarm and set the duration from 30 seconds to 8 minutes before it auto-silences. If Mr. Burglar hasn't fled in 30 seconds, he's staying for the duration. See option 3 above.

  35. The monitoring company should generally call the home owner regardless of the “grace period” on setting off the alarm. They should also be able to tell what sensor was tripped setting off the alarm. Personally, I’d turn it off - if unsure of the source wait for a call and see what was triggered - If still unsure wait for the police to show up - then investigate alongside them. That’s what you pay them for.

  36. There isn't a one-size-fits-all answer. The most important question to answer is, what's your mission profile/use case? What do you want the rifle to do for you? What barrel do you have on there? Hunting Rifle Battle Rifle DMR Benchrest Precision Tactical SPR Each of these roles (or your own special case) dictate different stock and grip attributes. Nobody can give you a meaningful answer to your question without knowing what it is for.
