On Jan 27-29 I attended the Rangemaster Defensive Shotgun Instructor Course at Royal Range in Nashville TN. It is 3 days of intensive shooting and classroom work in learning (as Tom Givens refers to it) The Gospel of the Gauge. Pic shows Tom presenting me with my class certificate and Top Gun award for highest aggregate score in class.4 points

Ok, my main sporter is a Browning Citori, I let the tall guy from the gun shop youtube talk me down that route with the Japanese made Browning. I invested in that, it's my gun! That said, doesn't mean I don't want to see what the other manufacturers have to offer. In this case I managed a shipping trade. I was trying to move a 20G Franchi Reniassance I got on this forum, on a whim I offered an even swap for someone on the auction site with this Beretta Model S685 in what looked to be near new condition. They accepted, which shocked and worried me, but they were a registered FFL, everything checked out, and they documented the gun with a ton of pictures (like the last one I got on there). So I figured, I was probably going to have my O/U on here for a long time so I might as well see about this trade and make it work. I managed to complete the transaction though it took a while. I shipped first, he received, then he shipped to me. I just picked the gun up today after a couple weeks and it looks exactly like the photos! It actually still had some of the factory grease in some corners! So once again, I cleaned it up, snapped some photos and here we go, you be the judge! The model S685 is definitely an interesting one, it's a 'low-end' Beretta, I don't know if it is a 'pre-cursor' to or just a cheaper version of but is closely related (it seems from appearance) to the standard 686 with a few exceptions. The first and foremost bing this gun has 'lifters' or 'extractors' and not ejectors. Honestly I don't mind this as I'm not great at catching ejected shells yet. It also has the automatic safety catch in it, which none of my other O/U's have (but the Franchi did as it was also a field version). This one has fixed F over M chokes in the barrels. The model was discontinued in 1986, I just found the date code and this one is a 1985 model, which is a significant year for me, so now I'm definitely in love with this pick-up. Other big difference which you can kind of see in the pictures is there is quite a bit of right hand cant. The Browning's I have are much more straight, or at least you don't notice quite as much angle. I've only shouldered the gun a few times, it seems pretty comfortable, my whole grip feels more compact. I probably watch too much TGS on youtube but you can feel that there is definitely more of something in this thing... style? class? I don't really know but it definitely is less 'tool' than the browning but is still the most 'tool' version of a Beretta O/U I think you can get. Also, I am converting my Benelli M2 Field 28" from the comfort tech stock and forend to wood. I noticed they sell wood finished M2's over seas and you can get the parts so I found a discount stock on ebay and forend. As I was putting the gun together I dropped the wood forend and you can see what happened in the pictures. I have a new one on order and am gluing this one but darn what an expensive mistake. I'll post pictures when it is done in a week or so.3 points

These don't come up often: The king of 1970s snubbies, a S&W Model 15-3, nickel plated, with 2-inch pinned barrel. SN dates the gun to 1975. Ad closed -- gun moved elsewhere. Thanks for looking, Whisper3 points

It was everything you said, and more. The memorial for Tyre was held a few weeks ago. It was on the local news and much smaller. Yesterday was a show to drum up support for the Floyd bill and to keep these issues in the national spotlight. If people weren’t making noise, who would have paid attention to this case? I’m no fan of Al Sharpton, but he’s an activist. Everything he’s doing is his job. I despise Steve Bannon, but getting people angry and pissing other people off is his job. Neither would be successful if they weren’t effective.3 points

Selling my CZ PCR (Police Czech Republic). This is a DA/SA (decocker) 9mm with 2 15 rd mags, factory box, paperwork, etc. Probably only has around 50 rounds through it, maybe less. This is aluminum frame with a cold hammer forged barrel. Sights are luminescent, but not tritium. In the third picture I try to show some slight marring of the finish around the rear sight which is the only defect as far as I can tell. Looking for $550 or equivalent trade value.3 points

In all fairness, back when this thread started Tisas were relatively new to the market. At that time, they weren't much. But now, 9 years later, Tisas makes a good, reliable and inexpensive gun. So the OP may very well have been right. But times and Tisas have changed.3 points

So, I had this surplus German 7.62 ammo for years now, leftovers from when I had a FAL and a PTR. But after debating about another ptr or going the AR 10 route, I can firmly say I regret going the ar10 route. Man, this thing weights a ton. Shoots well though. Now I just need to find a good optic for it. BCA BC 10. 18in barrel. I replaced the trigger, grip and stock day one (why? Because I wanted to). I will probably replace the stock again.2 points

My biggest thing is that by going from a pistol to an SBR, I am now crippled on transporting, crossing state lines, vehicle carry, and carry ability with my current HCP. I prefer to keep them in pistol status and wait this thing out. I got used to the Uzi push/pull sling method before the brace and if necessary will go back to that method.2 points

I expect the Lautenburg Amendment to fall for the same reasonings. Like most gun laws in this country. I won’t pretend that this doesn’t elevate risk to some folks who find themselves in these situations. It would be ridiculous to do so. That said, it’s also not like those restraining orders actually did anything to stop folks who sought to do harm. They’re just pieces of paper after all.2 points

As I recall I used ATF and put in the description for FBI card whatever the number is of the card they use. It was shown in the description. It had me choose off a map the office closest to me by zip code. I chose a UPS store / date / time. When I arrived the employee pointed to a device sitting on a table and said just sit down and hit start. After a few demo screens I was prompted to get an employee to verify my credentials, they then put in a code to get me going. I was prompted to do the finger tips and thumbs and then moved on to rolling prints. I can tell you that I had a heck of a time getting it to read my prints, they at first just would not show up on the screen. I had other employees come over and theirs appeared instantly. We called the company and a person tried to help me while they viewed the screen remotely. There is a metal frame that surrounds the pad that reads your print, you must contact that metal band while your finger is on the screen. Nothing was working for me, the guy on the phone wanted me to stop and just get paper ones done. It finally hit me, if everyone else in there could do it and I was having so much trouble maybe my skin on my lower fingers was just to dry for it to know I was making contact with the metal band. I put some of that pink paper grip stuff on my lower fingers near the palm and it worked perfectly. Lesson learned…..the guy on the phone with the company said “ Ya know, we just have some people this won’t work on but I think you just solved our problem.”2 points

Treat everyone you come across with respect and dignity as everyone you will ever meet has at least one thing you could learn from them. There is no more powerful force in the world than consistency. And that communism has failed miserably every where in the world that it was ever implemented.2 points

There are a lot, but anymore the #1 thing that seems to be lacking is the ability of kids to cope with adversity and failure. They need to learn how to deal with adversity and failure and even understand what is even worth caring about. Failure is a great teacher. Putting them in positions to fail is not all bad. They need to then use some reasoning to figure out why they failed and how they can improve next time regardless of the scenario.2 points

I've seen more than one instance where in divorce proceedings the agreed order or divorce decree included a "stay apart" provision with all the elements under 922g8, inadvertently (?) making ownership an offense for the husband - even though there was no adjudication of guilt of a crime. Plenty of people who read about this Fifth Circuit decision will argue it's dangerous to vulnerable people. Personally, I find it more dangerous for the state to have the option to suspend a citizen's civil rights via some abbreviated, summary process.1 point

I have used a Silencer Shop kiosk and had the same trouble. It was myself and another person in my trust. We both had the same problems. It was absolutely painful. Employees at the store said it happened a lot. I darn near through in the towel and went and had them done with ink. Finally quite worrying if the system said they were passable and just went with it as I was told they would be inspected before submission, anyway. They ended up going through but was just about more trouble than it was worth as it even took longer than it would have to have just have cards physically. I appreciate you sharing your experience and I will definitely make note of your tip. I hope it helps others as well.1 point

Basic handyman skills. I was never taught anything about tools. I've learned everything as an adult by watching YouTube or using forums. My learning curve would have been a lot smaller had I learned some basics as a kid. I know someone already mentioned cooking and I agree. Same story. I learned how to cook as an adult.1 point

The kidnapping charge is what's got me. It leads you to believe that they didn't have cause for a stop or arrest. I want to watch the video before I judge anyone's actions. This is no different, however everyone that believes its okay to hurt random people because of this are as bad as the people that committed the original crime.1 point

Not sure how that would result in enemies being able to purchase .50 cals. Who owns the company does not change ITAR and who they can sell to. The US government already has control over who they can sell and export to. Yes the purchase would have to have been reviewed and approved through the US GOV. Again ITAR and all. Probably the State Department and the GOV entities that Barrett currently is under contract with.1 point

I picked up my 2 inch Colt King Cobra a couple of weeks ago and thought it could not be topped, today my 2 inch Kimber K6S came in and I have to say it is by far the nicest revolver I have ever handled. The factory grips were too small for my hands, I knew this before buying it so I bought a set of the combat grips from Kimber. Tim Thurner TT Gun leather is making me very nice Holster for it as I write this this revolver is truly one of the finest firearms I have ever seen I will change the sights out for night sights but in my opinion this is the best revolver in .357 Magnum currently for sale1 point
