They’re not going to let her speak are they? Memphis seems to have handled this situation incredibly well and is a testament to the city and its people. Last thing they need is the master of word salad and cackling carrying on about who knows what.6 points

Although I usually agree that the Police Chief is ultimately responsible for those under his/her command, I don't always go along with those who want the chief fired or forced to resign. In this case, this unit is her baby. She set it up without adequate supervision, and staffed it with LEOs that probably shouldn't even be LEOs. Two lessons here, at least. One, don't hire folks just because they tick a box on the equity spectrum. Two, figure out a better way to get more officers on the force without lowering standards.6 points

I can’t believe she hasn’t been forced to resign already. This unit was her idea in the first place.6 points

So he is starting with a demonstrably false premise to begin with. Got it.6 points

Ruger 9mm PC Carbine. Added Midwest Industries chassis, Magpul pistol grip and buttstock. In addition it has a beautiful Volquartsen trigger plus Mcarbo recoil reduction bundle, extractor and A2 Tool Steel Bolt Head Pins & Extractor Pin Kit . Carbine is in fantastic condition with low round count. I simply don't use it. I still have the original plastic stock should you want it.5 points

I agree but see NOTHING negative about her being said or questions being asked by meda! Why? is she untouchable? Not sure it's justified till the facts are out but It seems lesser involved individuals are being suspended and perhaps charged....another cop from the initial stop I never heard about till yesterday, EMS and maybe more to come. So why not Chief Davis? Ultimately she made decisions or ignored problems that allowed this kind of blatent abuse of power to go unchecked. There is no way in hell "the five" hadn't done this sort of thing before. The buck stops with her correct?5 points

The more i read about this, the more I think lack of supervision allowed this to happen. Seems like though this might be the first one that died, there were other complaints. I truly think i understand the desire to meet violent thugs on their own turf with overwhelming violence in response to violence, but it just cant spill over into the general populace. But this kind of over response shouldn't have happened even if he had been a bad guy.4 points

Before this is over, a lot of heads will roll. I believe Davis will be one of them. Just give it time.4 points

I did not realize that Memphis Police Director CJ Davis had been previously fired from Atlanta PD. As Assistant Chief of Atlanta PD in 2008, she directed the department not to investigate a man who was sexually abusing children, because he was married to an Atlanta PD Sergeant. After APD failed to investigate, a federal investigation led to the molester pleading guilty to federal charges related to producing child pornography (in which he raped minors). This lady protected a child rapist. I have never been impressed with Davis. She's the gal who left her service handgun in her Porsche last year while she went home decor shopping, and got it stolen. She utterly failed to protect the city from violent protests in 2021, and nearly 700 people have suffered violent deaths in Memphis over the past 2 years. She oversaw diversity quota hiring of officers that subverted established police minimum standards and background qualifications. I believe all five of the officers initially fired in the Tyre Nichols incident were hires under those reduced hiring standards. I'm wondering where is the outrage over this Peter Principle Person leading MPD? Is it simply the same progressive city politics that put those unqualified officers on the streets (in Davis' SCORPION unit, no less) that protect this unqualified Chief, because she's black? It shouldn't be about the color of her skin. It should be about her character, and her professional results. Well, as command staff of a major metro PD, she actively and deliberately protected a man who continued to rape children under her protection. That is the same moral and professional conduct that her officers engaged in against Tyre Nichols. which she herself said left her "horrified," "disgusted," and "confused."3 points

What about the guy doing Mike Tyson punches to his face while his cop buddies hold him up? Seems just as bad as the kick to the head.3 points
-
I’m not so sure that the idea of each officer being judged individually is really that realistic. In the trial of all of them the video will be a primary piece of evidence and I just don’t see anybody separating one person’s punch or kick from everyone else’s. They were all willingly active participants in this grossly egregious case of brutality and I suspect that any juror will see them as all jointly culpable.3 points
-
I already told you. Davis is politically correct. The liberal media won't attack a black woman in a position of authority. Goes against everything they believe. As stated: SHE set up the Scorpion Unit. SHE failed to properly supervise them. SHE let them get out of control. I'm sure as this goes on that more and more wrong doing by this unit will come out. SHE is ultimately responsible. SHE needs to go.3 points
-
I've been saying it since day one. She was hired simply because she's a black woman. The politically correct choice. She's never impressed me any. I don't live in Memphis, but right next door. So her lack of leadership does have an effect on my little town. I believe that all this "transparency" in the Nichols case is mostly an attempt by her to save her own butt. While these officers are obviously bad, she sure threw them under the bus awfully quick. Even before all the facts came out. CYA is not an effective leadership style.3 points

In very good condition. I am second owner. Total of 400 rounds fired. Has 3 15 round mags, original box with all the goodies. Night sights still work. CT light. $600 will be out by Sparta starting 2-3-23 for a couple of days if that helps.2 points

I've ridden the one closest to the door way more times than I care to admit, LOL Once my grandson was old enough to reach the rear footpegs, he liked riding so much that I finally sold the 2 I didn't ride much (KLR 650 and NC700X) and kept the one he fit on with me the best (Super Tenere). My wife got so jealous of us riding that she took the MSF and got herself a Vespa to join us on short local rides.2 points

The top 3 in class, Me , Amy Moses , and Greg Ellifritz . The top 2 (me and Amy ) both used pumps instead of semi autos. If I remember correctly she was shooting an 870 with some kind of small red dot (possibly an Aimpoint micro?).She was very impressive with the 870 . Greg was running a Beretta 1301. For more pics and videos you can check out the post I put on Facebook about the class....https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=191490720170239&set=pcb.1914943468365432 points

Patterning our guns... 1 round of 9 pellet 00 Federal Flite Control to the head at 5 yards and 3 rounds to the chest at 7 yards. This is from a 14" Remington 870 Cylinder Bore Choke. You can see that at 7 yards or less the buckshot load is still so close together that it is essentially a pre fragmented solid projectile. You CAN miss at this distance if you do not AIM.2 points

I read it and they mentioned if it had to have a buffer tube to function then it could have one but they went on to say that just because it has to have one doesn't mean it couldn't be determined to be an SBR. You know the standard double talk that would allow them levity to do whatever they want to do.2 points

Why am I reminded of this quote from Atlas Shrugged: Did you really think we want those laws observed?" said Dr. Ferris. "We want them to be broken. You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against... We're after power and we mean it... There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Reardon, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with.2 points

We used to have a training officer on here. He told me something one time that’s stuck with me for a lot of years. He said that on any given force there is about 10% of the population that will always do the right thing regardless of personal cost. These officers are rare - and we want more of them. On any given force there is a smaller percentage - about 5% that will do the wrong thing and abuse their power any time they can get away with it. They’re a poison and we clearly want fewer of them. Neither of those groups are actually the problem though. It’s the other 85%. What’s their behavior like? They’re going to mimic whoever they happen to be with. If they happen to be with one of the “bad apples” they’re more likely than not going to go along and maybe join in. That’s where the phrase “bad apples” gets its meaning. Put a bad apple in a barrel full of good apples and the gas it gives off will quickly spoil the rest. Same for officers. We can’t just focus on the bad ones and pretend like that’s good enough. Because if they’ve been there long enough - they’ve literally spoiled the whole department. incidentally we have data on this. In any given organization of 100 people it takes two people to ruin the whole culture. That toxicity is never fun - but it’s one thing when it’s Brenda in accounting. Your job sucks and maybe you should polish up your resume. But when it’s a police department it’s literally a life or death problem.2 points

1. Absolutely. it's going to be important to see if the videos from the dashcams and street cams in the area corroborate the officer's story. Part of the story doesn't make sense. The officer accuses Tyre, in both the video and the leaked report, of driving down the wrong side of the road and attempting to run into squad cars. Yet, he gets just a block down the street and stops at a red light with his blinker on and no oncoming traffic (from the dash cam in video 1)? Why would someone do that? It doesn't add up. And I've really not heard anyone discuss that. None of the MPD higher ups have acknowledged any evidence of Tyre driving recklessly. If it exists, I'm sure we will see it in court. 2. A lot of Branca's argument is predicated on not having autopsy results. He takes the officers word that Tyre is "on something" and accepts it as fact until proven otherwise. Like I said in point one, there is still a lot of questions that need answered and we are likely going to have to wait for the legal teams to present those answers in court. 3. I think Branca missed the other two that were complicit in the one officer's actions. They held Tyre for the other officer. That makes them co-conspirators or whatever terms the court will use. The charges may be less for them but they aren't innocent. 4. This statement only matters if the arrest is found to be justified. Which goes back to statement one. 5. This assumes that they did not violate MPD policy. I don't know MPD policy well enough to make such a bold statement.1 point

If I tickle my grandson while asking him to be still, he will not comply with my verbal commands no matter how many times I demand him to do so. So, how on God's green Earth could anyone expect a grown man to put his hands behind his back while he's being punched and kicked. EVERYONE will involuntarily guard their torso/face instead of exposing themselves to further pain. Saying Tyre Nichols would still be alive if he hadn't resisted isn't accurate in this case anyway, these cops intended to beat his @$$ from the beginning.1 point

With certain provisions, it would be a real crime deterrent to the mass of crimes that are never solved and stop thugs dead in their tracks. Until is passes, no one should however, act on property crimes using deadly force.1 point
